About our GuestsDr. Megan Rosenstein is the Associate Chief Medical Officer and Director of Obstetric Anesthesia at Atlantic Health System's Overlook Medical Center in Summit New Jersey. Dr. Rosenstein came to Overlook from New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center, where she completed her training in Anesthesiology with a focus on the care of high risk perinatal patients. In her time at Overlook, Dr. Rosenstein has actively participated in Atlantic Health's system-wide Maternal Collaborative, Overlook's Perinatal Safety and Quality Committee and spearheaded projects such as the Massive Transfusion Protocol, Opioid Reduction Task Force, protocoled response to Amniotic Fluid Embolism, and Enhanced Recovery after Cesarean Birth. Dr. Rosenstein is the New Jersey state representative for the Society for Obstetric Anesthesia and Perinatology, which recognized Overlook as one of the first designated centers of excellence in Obstetric Anesthesia care. Dr. Rosenstein is a wife and mother to three sons and enjoys weekends on the sidelines and enjoying time with her family. She is an avid supporter of equitable access to women's healthcare in New Jersey and beyond. Stephen Faller is a chaplain, educator, and author. He currently serves as a Chaplain Educator at Overlook Medical Center where he runs the Clinical pastoral education program. He is also the director and Founder of The Institute of Spiritual Midwifery which is dedicated to the development of the theory, praxis, and pedagogy of spiritual midwifery in the ministry of individuals, families, and organizations. His work in chaplaincy and his experience with cerebral palsy offer a unique and powerful perspective on the intersections of disability and spiritual caregiving. Through speaking engagements, educational initiatives, and personal interactions he educates and inspires others to approach spiritual caregiving with a more inclusive and compassionate mindset. He is the author of several books including “The Art of Spiritual Mid-Wifery” and most recently “Christianity And the Art of Wheelchair Maintenance”. Dr. Fran Hoh has been a Registered Nurse for 4 decades on a mission to help people recover from illness. She is passionate about lifelong learning and completed a diploma, Bachelors, and Master's degree in Nursing and a PHD in Health Administration. She is equally as passionate about teaching and has been known as the “tell it like it is” presenter. She is known for excellence by her peers as demonstrated by being awarded the Nurse Excellence Award from Overlook Medical Center in 2006 for developing a 3 Day Pain Resource course and trained hundreds of nurses to be resources for better pain management. She has done full day programs across the country on topics of pain management and end of life care and is board certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse in Hospice and Palliative Care. Her book Pain Medications and You was published as a guide for patients to better understand how to manage pain. She was awarded the Clinical Practice Award in 2010 and the Geriatric Nurse Exemplar Award in 2015 by the American Society of Pain Management Nursing. In 2009 Dr. Hoh combined her knowledge, vision, Can Do attitude, and skills to launch her own practice called Always Think Comfort, which provided pain and palliative care consults at over 30 long term care facilities in NJ. Her goal was to provide support to families who are living in the last season of a family member's life. In 2020 she again received the Nurse Excellence Award in Inter-professional Collaboration for her work during the Covid pandemic. During the Covid pandemic she fiercely advocated for IPADS, family visits, and aggressive symptom management for those who were dying of the Corona virus. Last year she established Palliative Rx which provides online courses for patients and families suffering with chronic illness.
With an ever-changing landscape in the provision of health care, now more than ever athletic trainers must understand proper implementation and utilization of telehealth and telemedicine strategies. This episode is a deep dive into all things telehealth and telemedicine, featuring J. Timothy Sensor, LAT, ATC of New Jersey. Tim shares what has fueled his passion for being involved with the development of AT legislature and practice/licensing acts, and from his awesome experience we will learn a ton! The reality is, we as ATs have been practicing telehealth for years, but have we been doing it as responsibly? What exactly is the difference between telehealth and telemedicine, and what must you update in your physician-signed plan of care/standing orders to cover you? From a documentation standard, how should ATs be properly documenting and logging Telehealth/telemedicine occurrences, and what should we consider when choosing a platform to utilize? Tim and Ryan discuss the likely challenges an AT will face when implementing and utilizing telehealth/telemedicine? J. Timothy Sensor, LAT, ATC, has been working as an Athletic Trainer at the Overlook Medical Center for Concussion Care since 2014. He has been a partner with Safe Sports Training Consultants, LLC, since 2013. He had been the Chief Athletic Trainer and Chief Clinical Supervisor at Kean University in Union, NJ from 1983 to 2013. Prior to that he was the Head Athletic Trainer at Ramapo College from 1977 to 1983. He is currently on the NATA Research and Education Foundation Board as the NATA District Two Chair, a position he has held since 2016. He served as the President of the Athletic Trainers Society of New Jersey (1989-1991). Mr. Sensor has held positions in a multitude of committees with the New Jersey Medical Society, EATA, NATA, and at Kean University. Mr. Sensor was the chair of the NATA District Secretaries/Treasurers Committee, a member of the New Jersey Medical Society Committee on Medical Aspect of Sports, a member of the Kean University Board of Trustees' Building, Finance and Audit Committee, and a member of the New Jersey Public Employees Occupational Safety and Health Advisory Board (PEOSH). He has also served on the Athletic Training Advisory Board to the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners since 2006. He was the Treasurer for NATA District Two from 1994-2000 and the Treasurer of the Eastern Athletic Trainers Association from 2002-2006. Any questions?
