Dr. Fran Hoh has been a Registered Nurse for 4 decades on a mission to help people recover from illness.  She is passionate about lifelong learning and completed a diploma, Bachelors, and Master's degree in Nursing and a PHD in Health Administration. She is equally as passionate about teaching and has been known as the “tell it like it is” presenter.  She is known for excellence by her peers as demonstrated by being awarded the Nurse Excellence Award from Overlook Medical Center in 2006 for developing a 3 Day Pain Resource course and trained hundreds of nurses to be resources for better pain management.  She has done full day programs across the country on topics of pain management and end of life care and is board certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse in Hospice and Palliative Care.  Her book Pain Medications and You was published as a guide for patients to better understand how to manage pain.  She was awarded the Clinical Practice Award in 2010 and the Geriatric Nurse Exemplar Award in 2015 by the American Society of Pain Management Nursing. In 2009 Dr. Hoh combined her knowledge, vision, Can Do attitude, and skills to launch her own practice called Always Think Comfort, which provided pain and palliative care consults at over 30 long term care facilities in NJ. Her goal was to provide support to families who are living in the last season of a family member's life. In 2020 she again received the Nurse Excellence Award in Inter-professional Collaboration for her work during the Covid pandemic. During the Covid pandemic she fiercely advocated for IPADS, family visits, and aggressive symptom management for those who were dying of the Corona virus. Last year she established Palliative Rx which provides online courses for patients and families suffering with chronic illness.

    In this episode, Dr. DeHaan, an infectious disease specialist and assistant professor of clinical medicine at Weill Cornell talks about his experience in treating COVID19 patients and shares his knowledge and insight with us. Dr. Elliot DeHaan has worked as a clinician, clinical educator, and administrator of HIV, HCV, and HIV prevention programs at academic medical centers and community health centers in New York City for the past 10 years.  He is currently an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Weill Cornell where he joined in 2017.  He provides comprehensive primary care to HIV-infected persons as well as chemoprophylaxis for HIV prevention at the Center for Special Studies. He also serves as a clinical consultant for the Weill Cornell chapter of the AIDS Education Training Center (AETC), providing didactic teaching on HIV/ID topics and teleconferencing support to community health centers of NYC.  He has been a member of the New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute (DOH AI) Medical Care Criteria Committee (MCCC) since 2015.   Prior to his time at Cornell, he was an attending physician at Montefiore Medical Center (2010-2012), Community Healthcare Network (Associate Medical Director of HIV Services, 2012-2014), and SUNY Downstate Medical Center (Director of HCV Services at the STAR Health Center, 2014-2017).

    In this Episode, Michael Hodges talks about COVID19 in NY and NJ and shares his experience as a public health professional who works on COVID19 funding for NJ.Michael Hodges MHS, HO, REHS, CHES, , is the former Health Officer/Director for the West Milford Health Department and former Director of Health and Human Services for the City of East Orange, NJ. As Accreditation Coordinator, he also led the process to establish Bloomfield as New Jersey's first nationally accredited health department, from the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB), a joint initiative of the CDC and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to advance quality and performance of all US public health departments. An integral part of this process was the development of a comprehensive Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP), which Michael managed. He's the recipient of the Montclair State University George G. King Memorial Award for improving the health of the community through leadership and collaboration. He has served as a mentor/internship supervisor for several physicians (including 2 Fulbright Scholars) pursuing their MPH degrees. Michael has also served on the Board of Directors and Board of Commissioners of the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing (NCHEC) and is one of the past planners for the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) Annual Public Health Conference.   Most recently, Michael has been performing HACCP-based food safety and sanitation inspections, infection control consulting, outbreak investigations, and Occupational Health & Safety (OSHA) Audits, and health education for Fortune 500 Companies, Top-Tier Law Firms, Private Schools, and Hospitals in the NYC Metro area. He's currently developing Infection Control and Prevention protocols and providing Health Education services (including Social Determinants of Health and Trauma Informed Care) for the City of New York COVID-19 Hotel Program, working closely with the CDC, Doctors Without Borders (MSF), and NYC Health + Hospitals.   Michael is also an adjunct professor for Southern New Hampshire University where he teaches various public health courses.

In this episode, we will learn from former Deputy Minister of Health of Thailand about how Thailand could control coronavirus at an early stage. Evans, MD, MS, MPH, AAHIVS, DTM&H currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for the NYC Office of Emergency Management medical section focusing on the COVID-19 response. He was previously the CMO for the county of Santa Cruz (California) Health Services Agency, as well as other CMO posts in Southern California focusing on homelessness, substance abuse and migrant health, as well as leading infectious disease divisions in a number of organizations across the US – including the AIDS HealthCare Foundation. Dr. Evans has held positions with a number of international organizations as well, including Medecins Sans Frontieres/Doctors without Borders (MSF), Physicians for Human Rights (PHR), UNICEF and Partners in Health (PIH) – mostly in sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia and the Middle East.

Some countries are trying to flatten the curve, some have already turned the corner and thinking about reopening businesses. Tunisia with a population of approximately 11 million people has COVID-19 under control and recently reported zero confirmed case.
