In celebration of Guardians of the Galaxy 3, we wanted to share our review one of the comic book runs featuring the comic adventuring team that the movie trilogy is based on. Writers Andy Lanning and Dan Abnett were instrumental in reigniting Marvel's Cosmic Universe with Annihilation and Annihilation: Conquest. After this in-universe cross over event they took some of the surviving characters and reintroduced them as a team in their own title Guardians of the Galaxy in 2008. This group features Star-Lord, Gamora, Phyla-Vell, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Mantis, Drax the Destroyer and Adam Warlock along with other heroes from Marvel's cosmic backlog. We follow this cast of cosmic adventurers as they attempt to save time and space from the cataclysmic Faults that have the potential to destroy the universe as they know it and then some. They also persevere through another 2 Marvel events along with other villains that continue to test the unity of this interesting cast of cosmic heroes. The primary artist on the series, Paul Pelletier helps establish this new modern vision of the team that has ties to its 1969 version of the lineup, while creating a welcoming introduction to new comic book readers. If you like James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy movie trilogy and looking for a jumping on point we recommend checking out the Guardians of the Galaxy by Abnett & Lanning Omnibus to follow along in their adventures while discovering what inspired the live action adaption.

On the newest episode the guys tackle the end of the trilogy, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 from James Gunn! But first is it Anthony's birthday? How did Cody get injured over the weekend? What big birthday announcement does Anthony have? Could Cody survive the birthday bong rips? What's changing about Jake's work life? Was this movie heartbreaking and bringing the sad boy energy? Did this movie have great CGI? Was this Rocket's story? Should somebody have died? Were there a lot of death fake-outs? Does this movie feel more like a James Gunn movie than an MCU movie? Is Guardians of the Galaxy a punk rock Star Wars? Will Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4 or another holiday special happen with the new team at the end of the movie? Did this movie have the best soundtrack out of all the Guardians of the Galaxy movies? Was the hallway fight set to No Sleep til Brooklyn incredible? Was High Evolutionary basically Sid from Toy Story? Was this movie brutal for the MCU? Did we like the MCU's first use of the word "fuck"? How were the practical effects? What characters had great arcs? How is Nebula different from how she's portrayed in the comics? How was the Adam Warlock fight? Do the Guardians always have great plans and cool team-up fights? Where were Star Lord's helmet and jet boots? What did we think of their costumes? Was Drax's green dulled down in this movie? Does Jake hate Kraglin? Did we like Cosmo? How did we feel about Groot's transformations? Was High Evolutionary a good new villain? How was this movie like Avatar: The Way of Water? Did Mantis get her time to shine? Did James Gunn make you care about side characters in ways you don't normally in Marvel movies? Did Anthony hate Adam Warlock? Did we see him as a good mix of Vision and Thor? Are Warlock and Thanos bros? How does Adam Warlock fuck up the squad in the opening scene? Did this movie have the best use of the soundtrack? What moments in the movie made us cry? Is Guardians of the Galaxy the best MCU trilogy? What did we think of the Iron Man trilogy? Is the MCU back or is this movie just good news for James Gunn? Did this movie get us excited for James Gunn's Superman? Do directors making MCU movies need more creative freedom? Are we looking forward to The Marvels? Will Cody watch any movie with a Beastie Boys song in its trailer? Does Cody have hope for the MCU? Are there influencers out there getting paid to praise Marvel? Will Marvel learn anything from the success of this movie? What's going on with Jonathan Majors? Does anything in this movie point to the future of Marvel? Do we even want Star Lord to return? Should they recast some of the Guardians? Who should be the new Star Lord, Gamora, and Drax? Do we care about anything else Disney is putting out? Was Elvis any good? Are we bad at casting? Is Anthony trying to put our imagination in a box? Which Guardians would we be? Is this Groot the son of Groot? Would Groot be a good lover or is he a fuckboy? Would Jake be Howard the Duck? Did Kraglin need his own character arc? Did we skip the plot synopsis this episode? What would cause Jake to become the High Evolutionary? Who is Phyla-Vell and how does she connect to Captain Marvel? Is the MCU setting up the Next/Future Avengers? Is Shia LaBeouf a good actor? Were we in a Shiaissance? It's a rainy Monday around here, I hope your week is off to a solid start! Today's episode begins as usual with News, broken up into four sections: Trailers 0:10:40, Movie/TV Updates 0:17:40, General Industry News 0:27:50, and Rumors 0:45:31. Trailers include the first look at Naomi, and a few new clips of Matt Reeves' upcoming The Batman movie, brought to you by a trailer from Warner Japan. Movie and TV updates features bits on The Marvels, the Gotham PD Reeves spinoff show, Shang-Chi, and Netflix's Cowboy Bebop. General Industry News covers the newly announced Wonder Woman video game, and what we know of Marvel in March, specifically Captain Carter, Destiny of X, and most importantly, Immortal X-Men. And finally, rumors goes over the potential The Losers Amazon show, everything you wanted to know about Phyla Vell possibly coming to the MCU, and more on that Shuri (Wakanda Forever) situation.  I only had a handful of comic book picks to talk about this week 0:53:13, which were Dark Knights of Steel #2, Inferno #3, Hellions #18 (the series finale and the return of Madelyne Pryor, Goblin Queen!), Devil's Reign #1, and Daisy #1 from Dark Horse, which tbh I forgot to go back to and discuss, but was fantastic.  I run through this week's pull list 1:09:30 pretty quick so I can get to the Hawkeye episode four discussion! 1:17:21 As usual, I cover all the easter eggs, hidden details, character references, comic origin material, and every bit of speculation I felt worthy of my time, including one or two theories that I'm personally banking on pretty hard.  The next episode is gonna be a big'un, as it'll cover not only this Wednesday's Hawkeye Episode 5, but my spoiler review of Spider-Man: No Way Home! hat's as well as the regular picks and pulls from new comic book day, and relevant industry news, too. Marvel and DC March 2022 solicitations coming soon! My first special edition episode will be coming around the end of the year, featuring my personal Best in Comics 2021 list! We return to the cinema with The Guardians of The Galaxy Volume 3, the thirty second movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The final movie in the trilogy and James Gunn's final movie for Marvel before he moves to the Distinguished Competition. We chat all about the movie in our latest podcast.Synopsis for our Guardians of The Galaxy Volume 3 Movie Review with the help of WikipediaWritten and Directed by: James GunnAt their new headquarters on Knowhere, the Guardians of the Galaxy are attacked by Adam Warlock, a Sovereign warrior created by their high priestess Ayesha. After Adam overpowers them and seriously wounds Rocket, he is stabbed by Nebula and forced to flee. The Guardians are unable to tend to Rocket's wounds due to a kill switch, made by the company Orgocorp, embedded in him. To save their friend the Guardians travel to Orgocorp's headquarters to find the override code.As Rocket lies unconscious, he recalls his past. As a baby raccoon, he was experimented on by the High Evolutionary, a scientist who sought to enhance animal lifeforms into anthropomorphic species to create a "Perfect" Counter-Earth. Rocket befriended the other test subjects: an otter called Lylla, the walrus Teefs, and the rabbit named Floor. Of all the test subjects the High Evolutionary was impressed by Rocket's intelligence but furious when it exceeded his own. Perfecting the anthropomorphization process with Rocket's advice he orders Rocket's brain to be extracted and his friends incinerated. Rocket, realising he and his friends were not part of the High Evolutionary's perfect world, frees himself and his friends, but Lylla, Reefs and Floor but are killed in the escape by the High Evolutionary.Rocket, enraged, mauls the High Evolutionary and shoots his guards, as he makes his solitary escape in a spaceship. In the present, the alternate version of Gamora, who has joined the Ravagers, helps the Guardians infiltrate Orgocorp, which is owned by the High Evolutionary. They retrieve Rocket's file, but discover that the code has been removed. The group speculates that Theel, one of the High Evolutionary's recorders, has it, so they depart for Counter-Earth. They are followed by Ayesha and Adam, who are ordered by their creator, the High Evolutionary, to retrieve Rocket for his brain.Upon arriving on Counter Earth, the team is helped by residents in tracing Theel to the High Evolutionary's ship. Drax and Mantis remain with Gamora and Rocket as Peter Quill, Groot, and Nebula travel to the ship. Nebula is forced to wait outside by guards as Quill and Groot board. Drax and Mantis chase after Quill's group. The High Evolutionary initiates his destruction and planned recreation of Counter-Earth, which kills all life on the planet, including Ayesha. As his ship enters orbit, Quill and Groot leap off with Theel, retrieving the code from him. Gamora arrives with their ship to rescue them, while Nebula, Mantis, and Drax board the High Evolutionary's ship to rescue the now-absent Quill and Groot. As Quill's group attempts to access the code, Rocket flatlines and has a near death experience, where he sees Lylla, Teefs, and Floor. Lylla tells him that his time has not yet come as Quill uses the code to disable the kill switch and save Rocket's life.Nebula, Mantis, and Drax come across hundreds of imprisoned humanoid children on the High Evolutionary's ship before being captured. Quill's group sets out to rescue the three, who are placed in a chamber with monstrous Abilisks. Mantis befriends the Abilisks, allowing the group to escape and reunite with Quill's group, together overpowering the High Evolutionary's army. Kraglin and Cosmo arrive on Knowhere, and Cosmo creates a telekinetic tunnel connecting Knowhere to the High Evolutionary's ship to free the captured children. Rocket discovers imprisoned animals on the ship before being attacked by the High Evolutionary, but the rest of the Guardians help subdue him, leaving him to perish on his ship. The Guardians rescue the animals and lead them aboard Knowhere. Quill nearly dies trying to cross over but is saved by Adam, who had a change of heart after being saved by Groot. In the aftermath, Quill leaves the Guardians, bestowing the captaincy to Rocket before leaving for Earth to reunite with his grandfather Jason. Mantis embarks on a journey of self-discovery with the Abilisks, Gamora reunites with the Ravagers, and Nebula and Drax remain on Knowhere to raise the rescued children. In a mid-credits scene, the new Guardians, consisting of Rocket, a fully-grown Groot, Cosmo, Kraglin, Adam, Phyla-Vell (one of the rescued children), and Adam's pet Blurp, take on a new mission. In a post-credits scene, Quill eats breakfast with his grandfather Jason.Cast of Guardians of The Galaxy Volume 3Dave Bautista - Drax The Destroyer Pom Klementieff - Mantis Sean Gunn - Kraglin Bradley Cooper - Rocket Raccoon Karen Gillan - Nebula Chris Pratt - Peter Quill/Star-Lord Maria Bakalova (Voice) - Cosmo Chukwudi Iwuji - The High Evolutionary Will Poulter - Adam Warlock Vin Diesel - Groot Karen Gillan - Nebula Nathan Fillion - Master Karja Nico Santos - Recorder Theel Michael Rooker - Yondu Subscribe to TV Podcast IndustriesIf you want to keep up with us and all of our podcasts please subscribe to the podcast over at https://tvpodcastindustries.com where we will continue to podcast about multiple TV shows we hope you'll love.Next Time on TV Podcast IndustriesOn our main feed we're finishing our Star Trek Picard season 3 podcast as we announce the winner of our Ten Forward Pub Quiz on our latest podcast. In a post-credits scene, Quill eats breakfast with his grandfather Jason.Cast of Guardians of The Galaxy Volume 3Dave Bautista - Drax The DestroyerPom Klementieff - MantisSean Gunn - KraglinBradley Cooper - Rocket RaccoonKaren Gillan - NebulaChris Pratt - Peter Quill/Star-LordMaria Bakalova (Voice) - CosmoChukwudi Iwuji - The High EvolutionaryWill Poulter - Adam WarlockVin Diesel - GrootKaren Gillan - NebulaNathan Fillion - Master KarjaNico Santos - Recorder Theel Michael Rooker - YonduSubscribe to TV Podcast IndustriesIf you want to keep up with us and all of our podcasts please subscribe to the podcast over at https://tvpodcastindustries.com where we will continue to podcast about multiple TV shows we hope you'll love.Next Time on TV Podcast IndustriesOn our main feed we're finishing our Star Trek Picard season 3 podcast as we announce the winner of our Ten Forward Pub Quiz on our latest podcast.
