Carl and Mike come back and get into some of the latest NFL headlines and share some thoughts on comments by Greg Cosell in which he states when he watches film on the Falcons tight end, he looks uninspired. As they weigh in on Cosell's statement, they agree that those are the types of comments you never want to hear about players on your team and Carl noting that if someone who has no ties to a team sees this from Pitts, opposing coaches are likely seeing the same thing and therefore do not view Pitts as a threat.

In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") are back in studio continuing our early Trojan opponent previews, taking a look at the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Iowa comes to the Coliseum on Saturday, November 15 for homecoming weekend, with the game kicking off at either noon or 12:30 p.m. PT. The Hawkeyes have been great on defense, special teams and in the run game, but incompetent passing the football. Can Iowa turn that around one of the worst passing offenses in the country? To do so, offensive coordinator Tim Lester went out and upgraded his receivers and brought in quarterback Mark Gronowski from South Dakota State. USC travels to Notre Dame Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 18 with a kickoff time of 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT. The Fighting Irish are coming off an appearance in the national championship game against Ohio State and are looking to make another College Football Playoffs run. This is the last scheduled game in the long-standing rivalry, one that has been lopsided towards the Irish as of late. What will USC need to do to get its first win in South Bend since 2011? Dr. Kimberly Clay, PhD, MPH, MSW, Founder and CEO, Play Like a Girl Dr. Kimberly S. Clay is the Founder and CEO of Play Like a Girl, a Nashville-based non-profit organization working to level the playing field for girls by leveraging the skills gained from sport to propel young women into male-dominated careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Dr. Kim began her career as a public health analyst at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Early in her career, she saw the gender gap in education and health firsthand while working in underserved communities across the South. This led her to establish Play Like a Girl during her doctoral studies in health education. In 2007, she returned to the classroom—this time, as a tenure-track professor—at the University of Georgia where she taught and conducted research exploring long-term cancer survivorship in women. Nikki Martens, MS, Program Manager, Play Like a Girl Nikki is a proud New Orleans native and former high school athlete with a deep passion for women's sports. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and a Master's in Health Education, bringing a strong foundation in health and wellness to her work.
