Send us a textThe Ryder Cup sting is still fresh, but it's also the perfect reminder that preparation and focus separate winners from the field. In this episode, Tim Newman and Chris Rocha reflect on what went wrong in match play and how amateur golferscan apply those same lessons to their own game as Nationals week approaches.Special guest Drew Flavell from the Jacksonville Tour joins the conversation to share his insights on golf adapters, a simple yet game-changing tool that allows golfers to swap shafts, adjust launch angles, and fine-tune tempo without the cost of a full new set. Drew breaks down how adapters work, when they make sense, and how to improve your performance with smarter gear choices. Then Roger's Rules returns with a clear and practical look at the “2-by-2” sprinkler head myth. Roger explains when relief really applies, how to find your nearest point correctly, and why two club lengths isn't always the answer. The team also discusses how to use the USGA Rules of Golf App, when to play two balls, and how self-policing protects both your scorecard and your reputation. As Nationals approaches, Tim and Chris share final preparation tips, covering time-zone adjustments, travel routines, and the mindset needed to finish strong. Whether you're chasing a championship in A-Flight or grinding in C-Flight, this episode is your reminder that gear, rules, and preparation all play a role in performing your best. This is Golfweek Amateur Tour – The Podcast, where Amateurs Play Like Pros.KEY TAKEAWAYSThe Ryder Cup disappointment reminds players to control what they can.Golf adapters offer affordable customization for better performance.Understanding the rules prevents avoidable penalties during competition. The Golfweek Amateur Tour community thrives on integrity, camaraderie, and competition.Nationals week success comes from preparation, focus, and mindset.CONNECT WITH USLearn more about the Golfweek Amateur Tour: amateurgolftour.netExplore the Senior Amateur Tour: senioramateurgolftour.netDownload the USGA Rules of Golf App for on-course rulingsSubscribe for the Nationals recap and future episodes Support the showPodcast HomepageGolfweek Amateur TourSenior Amateur TourFacebookYouTubeSrixonJondo Sunglasses

Sal and BT ripped into the Jets for their latest loss, taking issue with what they saw as a celebration culture that masks a lack of accountability. They highlighted moments like Aaron Glenn clapping on the sidelines after the loss and a premature touchdown celebration as evidence that the team is more concerned with the appearance of "fighting back" than with actually winning. The hosts argued that this mindset, where moral victories are prioritized over tangible wins, is a significant part of the team's ongoing struggles. They contrasted this with a true winning mentality, where a loss, no matter how hard-fought, is never something to be happy about.

Gain instant access to the new Lab 2.0 now. Discover when playing tight is profitable and when it actually costs you money with elite coach Uri Peleg. You'll gain practical strategies, mindset shifts, and real-world examples that will help you balance your ranges, stay unpredictable, and maximize long-term profits at the poker table. View the written version of this episode here. 00:00 Expected Value of Strong vs. Marginal Hands 03:42 Why Play Weaker Hands 05:56 Reasons Not to Play Like a Nit 06:53 Importance of Balance and Unpredictability 08:40 Lab 2.0 Overview 11:12 When to Tighten Up Strategically 13:21 Real-World Examples of Adjusting Ranges 16:13 Flexibility with Bet Sizing 19:16 Managing Stack-to-Pot Ratios In this poker strategy podcast, Mike Brady teams up with elite coach Uri Peleg to answer a classic question: should you play like a nit preflop? While it may seem logical to stick to only the very best hands, the discussion reveals why doing so actually limits your profits. Uri explains that although hands like Aces, Kings, and Queens generate the majority of your expected value, marginal hands such as suited connectors and weaker offsuit holdings still contribute small but meaningful gains. More importantly, including these hands keeps your range balanced and makes it harder for opponents to exploit you when you pick up a monster. This poker strategy podcast emphasizes that poker is a game of small edges. Even fractions of a big blind add up over time, and being overly tight allows opponents to quickly read your strategy and deny you action. By mixing in more hands, not only do you capture additional value, but you also make your strong hands far more profitable because they become tougher to spot. At the same time, Uri and Mike point out that there are situations where playing tighter is the smart adjustment. Facing aggressive pros to your left, for example, might call for dropping marginal opens, while softer tables with weak opponents reward a looser approach. Flexibility and awareness of table conditions are key — rigidly sticking to “nit” play leaves money on the table. This poker strategy podcast ultimately delivers a balanced view: don't be a rock, but don't be reckless either. Learn when to widen your ranges, when to tighten up, and how to think critically about the dynamics at your table. Whether you're a beginner trying to avoid common pitfalls or an experienced player looking to refine your game, this poker strategy podcast gives you actionable insights to stay unpredictable, capture hidden value, and maximize long-term profits.

Carl and Mike come back and get into some of the latest NFL headlines and share some thoughts on comments by Greg Cosell in which he states when he watches film on the Falcons tight end, he looks uninspired. As they weigh in on Cosell's statement, they agree that those are the types of comments you never want to hear about players on your team and Carl noting that if someone who has no ties to a team sees this from Pitts, opposing coaches are likely seeing the same thing and therefore do not view Pitts as a threat.
In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") are back in studio continuing our early Trojan opponent previews, taking a look at the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Iowa comes to the Coliseum on Saturday, November 15 for homecoming weekend, with the game kicking off at either noon or 12:30 p.m. PT. The Hawkeyes have been great on defense, special teams and in the run game, but incompetent passing the football. Can Iowa turn that around one of the worst passing offenses in the country? To do so, offensive coordinator Tim Lester went out and upgraded his receivers and brought in quarterback Mark Gronowski from South Dakota State. USC travels to Notre Dame Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 18 with a kickoff time of 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT. The Fighting Irish are coming off an appearance in the national championship game against Ohio State and are looking to make another College Football Playoffs run. This is the last scheduled game in the long-standing rivalry, one that has been lopsided towards the Irish as of late. What will USC need to do to get its first win in South Bend since 2011? Ryan and Connor also discuss how USC quarterback commit Jonas Williams finished the the Elite 11 Finals, the "Play Like a Trojan" philanthropic event on campus this week hosted by Trojan linebacker Anthony Beavers and the latest open USC basketball practice that included five-star freshman Alijah Arenas addressing the media for the first time, talking about his April late night car crash coming home from a shooting session.
