HEALTH NEWS · Eat This to Think Better for the Next Six Hours -- and Beyond · Americans over 40 could live extra 5 years if they were all as active as top 25% of population, modeling study suggests · Exposure to marijuana in the womb may increase risk of addiction to opioids later in life, study finds · Maternal stress linked to increased early onset epilepsy in children · Gut microbiome found to play key role in chronic disease progression · Chewing xylitol gum linked to decrease in preterm birth Russian scientists make alarming 5G discovery Cellphone radiation has led to changes in the brain tissue of lab rats Controlled exposure to the 5G radiation spectrum has resulted in changes to the brain tissue of laboratory rats, according to a team of scientists from Tomsk State University (TSU) in Russia. Ever since the introduction of 5G cellphone infrastructure, there have been concerns about its potential health effects. The International Agency for Research on Cancer has classified the 5G radio frequency electromagnetic field (RF-EMF) as a “possible” human carcinogen, but no conclusive research has emerged either way. “We decided to find out what the effect of non-ionizing radiation is on rodents of different ages,” Natalia Krivova, lead researcher at the TSU's Biology and Biophysics Research Institute, said in a statement this week. TSU scientists experimented on male Wistar rats, preferred by scientists for having similar reactions to external stimuli as humans. They tested three different age groups: 5-6 week old rats (corresponding to human adolescents), 10-11 week old (human adults age 40 and up) and rats aged 17-18 weeks (humans 65 and older). All were exposed to RF-EMF frequencies for five weeks, which is equivalent to about four years of human lifespan. The study showed no outward changes between the rats exposed to the radiation and the control group. “However, a more detailed study of the rats' brain tissue after exposure to the 5G antenna revealed a significant change in the ratio of antioxidants and oxidants,” Krivova said. It is still unclear whether the changes will lead to positive or negative changes in the rats' cognitive abilities, or whether their bodies will somehow compensate for the disruption, she added, calling for further research into the subject. The Tomsk study represents the first time scientists have been able to measure the radiation absorption rate on caged rodents, according to the university. The TSU radiophysics team led by Professor Sergey Shipilov designed the 5G antenna for the experiment, and a team led by postgraduate student Ramdas Mazmanazarov developed a method for measuring the absorption rate. Their work was published earlier this year in the journal Applied Sciences. The study was part of the International Electromagnetic Field Project, initiated by the World Health Organization (WHO) to obtain science-based and objective answers to questions of public concern about the possible health risks from 5G electromagnetic fields. According to Krivova, the next stage of research is intended to study female rats and investigate how 5G radiation might affect their offspring, if funding can be secured.
Have you ever considered the hidden cost of the latest vehicular technology? We're peeling back the layers on the unsettling reality of our exposure to millimeter wave RF radiation, specifically from vehicular radar. The convenience offered by adaptive cruise control and collision avoidance systems is a double-edged sword, with the other side being high levels of non-native EMF radiation. We'll discuss the impact that this growing environmental concern could have on our health. In the second part of our discussion, we tackle the notion of 'appropriate level of technology'. For those of us who prioritize the health and well-being of ourselves and our loved ones, what does this mean in the context of EMF exposure? We'll endeavor to define this and provide a guide to help navigate the technologically-saturated landscape we find ourselves in. Above all, we'll seek wisdom and guidance in managing our relationship with technology in a way that honors God. This past weekend I attended the 22nd Annual Conference of the Weston A. Price Foundation. Multiple exhibits stressed the harmful effects of Electromagnetic Radiation on Humans including today's guest, Justin Frandson. You can't hear, see, or smell them; electromagnetic fields. The earth emits low level electromagnetic fields. The earth, sun and ionosphere are all natural sources of EMF. However, the subject of this podcast episode isn't how to block EMFs; it is about learning to live with them. Although, manmade magnetic fields are causing a broad spectrum of dangerous radiation to human health. As mentioned in this podcast episode, full blocking (like sleeping in a Faraday bag) would also cut us off from the good energy emitted by the Earth. The increase in biological exposure to manmade EMFs is in the billions, so how can we learn to live with them with the least damage? There are folks who suggest that EMF exposure is not harmful; however, let's keep in mind that doctors denied cigarettes were harmful to public health in the beginning. Keep in mind it's easier to prevent than treat disease, or as I mention in the podcast episode, err on the side of caution without living in fear. Types of EMFs On average, there are four types of manmade EMFs in a home. Dirty Electricity - Itinerant frequencies that create unnatural electromagnetic environments like fluorescent and LED lighting.Radio Frequency/Microwave Radiation - WiFi and Bluetooth devices along with microwave ovens.Magnetic Fields - These occur when electricity is flowing. Frequently used appliances with large motors are typically the worst offenders. (Avoid having these large appliances share an adjoining wall with your bed as the closer you are to these magnetic fields, the stronger. The further you are, the more they fall off.Electric Fields - Emanate from all the wiring in your home. This includes extension cords and power cords. Considering the four types of manmade EMFs, exposure can come from many sources, such as: mobile phones, laptops, iPads, bluetooth headphonespower linesx-raystanning beds, microwave ovens, and other electric appliances The main topic of this podcast conversation will be concerning electronic devices which use WiFi and Bluetooth, however we touch on other types of EMFs briefly. Where Does EMF Exposure Come From? Families are exposed to EMFs at school and at home. Children are exposed to electromagnetic fields in many forms from baby monitors to iPads. In American schools, children are often able to use computers as early as preschool. France banned WiFi in elementary schools years ago. The governments of other countries such as Spain, Germany, and Russia have recommendations to ban WiFi from schools due to potential health challenges. EMFs influence metabolic processes in the human body and exert various biological effects on cells through a range of mechanisms. 1 EMF exposure intensity decreases as you move away from the object that's sending out waves. High-frequency EMFs are the ionizing type of radiation. Scientific literature agrees that large exposures can cause damage. Xray machines, CT Scans, and tanning beds are examples of this low levels of this type of radiation. (National Cancer Institute Fact Sheet.) Low- to mid-frequency EMFs are considered non-ionizing type of radiation. Examples include hair dryers, power lines, cellphones, and microwave ovens. EMF Exposure Symptoms The problem of health effects of RF EMF has not been definitively resolved, however, they suggest it appears necessary to use precautionary principles and ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable) principles. it is recommended that the interpretation of results from studies on health effects of RF radiation should take sponsorship from the telecom or other industry into account. It is concluded that the ICNIRP has failed to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of health risks associated with RF radi...
“Every day lost, every excuse invoked, every tactic invented only increases the damage to human life, to the environment and to the generations who will have to fix the broken pieces.” Documentary filmmaker Pascal Gélinas wrote these heart-wrenching words to his grandson in a public letter released in November 2020. These words are the concluding statements that followed a long, detailed description of the biological effects of RF-EMF that Gélinas has been documenting and sharing with his many followers. The consequences that accompany the so-called “advancements” of 5G have been largely ignored by both the U.S. and Canadian governments despite ample up-to-date science linking RF-EMF radiation to effects on humans as well as on birds, bees, and trees. EHT founder Devra Davis recently described how the technological push toward 5G has been provoked by unnecessary geopolitical and ecological gamesmanship — a game with no victor, and certainly no eye toward public health. In this Silver Patreon event, Gélinas, Davis, and Fauteux discussed why this rejection of sound science continues and the “malpractice” committed by federal agencies for their refusal to address public health concerns. They also evaluated priorities for the incoming Biden administration, including appointing independent commissioners to the FCC, requesting a National Academy of Science committee review of the science underlying 5G, and identifying major data gaps and uncertainties about the economic efficiency of 5G. They also discussed the new film, Prisons Without Bars, a documentary produced by Gélinas' wife Nicole Giguère about electromagnetic hypersensitivity. He says, “In my lectures I will present the current scientific knowledge as well as the current lack of scientific research on the biological and health effects of the 5G millimeter-waves. I will also present the evidence, and the reasoning, for the invocation of the Precautionary Principle and for the temporary moratorium on 5G deployment, while awaiting for the much needed scientific research on millimeter-waves.” Dr. Dariusz Leszczynski, PhD, DSc is Adjunct Professor of Biochemistry, Division of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, University of Helsinki, Finland. He says: “I am scientist with keen interest in molecular biology research, or work as an expert/consultant, or as journal/book editor. Thanks to my age and working in universities around the world, I have a very broad experience in scientific research, in science publishing and in dissemination of scientific information to expert and lay-person audiences.” Dr. Leszczynski, who researches non-ionizing radiation, emphasizes that, “there is a continuous talk about assuring that the 5G maintains low levels of EMF exposure. However, there is not sufficient scientific research to show that low levels assure no health effects in short- and long-term exposures (acute and chronic exposures). It seems that the telecom industry assumes that their low level exposures will not cause- ever -any health effects and the telecom industry forcefully imposes this scientifically unsupported assumption on others, especially governmental decision-makers.” Rd. Leszczynski says there is an urgent need to start research studies examining effects of millimeter-waves on human health. However, there is a strong resistance from the telecom industry and from the decision-makers to start new research programs. The International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP), and the telecom industry, strongly propagate the idea that the low power of EMF emissions from the 5G devices will guarantee that human health will not be affected. However, the same assurances were made in the 70’s when the first generation of cell phones was commercialized, followed by the unlimited spread of the 2G, 3G and 4G devices – as long as the device emits radiation within the ICNIRP guidelines it is considered as safe, which is not necessarily the case as shown by a number of research studies. As a direct consequence of the scientific research, in 2011 the International Agency for Research on Cancer classified radiation emitted by the cell phones and cell towers as a possible human carcinogen. This classification appears to be strengthened by the new research studies on 3G and 4G-emitted EMF published after 2011. However, what the biomedical research on millimeter-waves, performed in the future, will show is a complete enigma. Why hasn’t the media taken this up and warned us all? Dr. Leszczynski explained that in many cases new outlets rely on Telecom businesses to advertise with them and so it could be a financial hit if they spoke out against these companies. He also explained that the media is reluctant to be seen as scaremongering and looking like tin foil hat wearers. The same probably goes for universities and tertiary institutions relative silence on this. I asked the professor what the difference between 4G and 5G were. He explained that 5g builds on 4G but then includes millimetre waves that are much shorter and higher energy waves. While they can carry more information, their range is less and they are easily blocked by buildings and trees etc, therefore requiring more transmitters at closer proximity. I asked about the effect on trees and it appears to be inconclusive, but certainly it is possible that trees could suffer damage from the energy from cell phone towers. Again not enough experiments have been carried out and we rely on anecdotal evidence. It is the same with bees. Dr. Leszczynski said there was a study done in Belgium that showed that the millimetre waves caused increased temperatures in bees, which could cause problems with bee behaviour, such as losing the way back to their hives, but there needs to be more study. No matter what the future research will show, 5G technology will be by then fully deployed and without any possibility of reverse because the whole future life of humanity will be based and dependent on the functioning of the 5G radiation-emitting devices. He says, “This is a unique situation in the history of the human kind when the whole human population will be exposed to man-made devices emitting non-ionizing radiation that was insufficiently tested before deployment. What is and what will be the responsibility of the scientists, decision-makers and industry leaders who permit deployment of insufficiently tested technology that will affect us all? The answer is simple – no responsibility … because if any health problems will show up in the future, these will most likely take tens of years of time to manifest and, by then the persons that currently enable deployment of insufficiently tested radiation-emitting 5G technology will be retired or the proverbial “six feet under”.” What would Dr. Leszcynski say to the government? *The IARC classification of RF-EMF as possible carcinogen is sufficient to trigger consideration of the Precautionary Principle. *Recommendations concerning RF-EMF and health effects should be based on science. However, many committees (SCENIHR, ICNIRP, WHO, HPA, SSI) simply disregard evidence of effects from epidemiological case-control studies and animal studies and say that the effects are not seen in scientific studies. Such statements disregard the evidence at hand. *General public, decision makers and scientists at large have no idea what are the “criteria” used by these committees to dismiss the positive studies because, description of these “criteria”, is not provided. What would Dr. Leszcynski advise the government to do? The Precautionary Principle should be used for RF-EMF and should include, among others: *Stop saying that there are no established non-thermal effect - if cancer risk increases in epidemiological studies it indicates that non-thermal effects happen. *Strengthen the safety standards; change them to reflect the current scientific evidence, showing the possibility of health effects. *Protect the children – applies to cell phone use; not so much cell towers. *Develop better technologies that emit less radiation. Reduce exposures of general population by making health agencies to advise people to do so.

Niche Radio — Continuing with our previous show, radio-frequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMF) are a big concern for residents of parents in South Africa. Especially with there being no regulation or monitoring on their radiation emissions, transmitters being illegally erected and public participation bypassed or steamrolled. Part of my thesis (available on jameslech.co.za) was the legislative qualification of a public interest override The function of ‘substances released into the environment’ and ‘public safety or environmental risk’. On today's show, I interview Braam Botha from www.jabattorneys.co.za where we discuss some of the issues and actions SuperDads can employ. www.jabattorneys.co.za

I recently watched a really powerful film "Public Exposure: DNA, Democracy & the "Wireless Revolution." This is the first video to explore the health effects of radiofrequency radiation from various wireless devices including cell phones and cell phone towers. So what is the impact of our health if we are surrounding my cell phone towers, cell phones and wifi all day long? I invited the filmmakers of the film to come on my show Mary Beth Brangan and Heddle James to share the scientific and moral issues of the matter with me including: What proof is there that radiofrequency electromagnetic fields are actually damaging our health?Rising government expansion of RF/EMF emitting devices that can damage your health (including radar in cars and wifi in schools)How sensitive people (including children) can protect themselvesAnd more! Background: The increase in numbers of mobile phone users was accompanied by some concern that exposure to radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RF EMF) might adversely affect acute health especially in children and adolescents. The authors investigated this potential association using personal dosimeters. Methods: A 24-hour exposure profile of 1484 children and 1508 adolescents was generated in a population-based cross-sectional study in Germany between 2006 and 2008 (participation 52%). Personal interview data on socio-demographic characteristics, self-reported exposure and potential confounders were collected. Acute symptoms were assessed twice during the study day using a symptom diary. Results: Only few of the large number of investigated associations were found to be statistically significant. At noon, adolescents with a measured exposure in the highest quartile during morning hours reported a statistically significant higher intensity of headache (Odd Ratio: 1.50; 95% confidence interval: 1.03, 2.19). At bedtime, adolescents with a measured exposure in the highest quartile during afternoon hours reported a statistically significant higher intensity of irritation in the evening (4(th) quartile 1.79; 1.23, 2.61), while children reported a statistically significant higher intensity of concentration problems (4(th) quartile 1.55; 1.02, 2.33). Conclusions: We observed few statistically significant results which are not consistent over the two time points. Furthermore, when the 10% of the participants with the highest exposure are taken into consideration the significant results of the main analysis could not be confirmed. Based on the pattern of these results, we assume that the few observed significant associations are not causal but rather occurred by chance.
Background: The development of new wireless communication technologies that emit radio frequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMF) is ongoing, but little is known about the RF-EMF exposure distribution in the general population. Previous attempts to measure personal exposure to RF-EMF have used different measurement protocols and analysis methods making comparisons between exposure situations across different study populations very difficult. As a result, observed differences in exposure levels between study populations may not reflect real exposure differences but may be in part, or wholly due to methodological differences. Methods: The aim of this paper is to develop a study protocol for future personal RF-EMF exposure studies based on experience drawn from previous research. Using the current knowledge base, we propose procedures for the measurement of personal exposure to RF-EMF, data collection, data management and analysis, and methods for the selection and instruction of study participants. Results: We have identified two basic types of personal RF-EMF measurement studies: population surveys and microenvironmental measurements. In the case of a population survey, the unit of observation is the individual and a randomly selected representative sample of the population is needed to obtain reliable results. For microenvironmental measurements, study participants are selected in order to represent typical behaviours in different microenvironments. These two study types require different methods and procedures. Conclusion: Applying our proposed common core procedures in future personal measurement studies will allow direct comparisons of personal RF-EMF exposures in different populations and study areas.
