There's new music from the Tikiyaki Orchestra and Brett Barnes' brand-new group, The Enchanted Tiki Cats, plus all the latest lounge happenings from Fort Lauderdale to Sydney. Olivia Murphy-Rogers joins Justin for an extra-special episode of TCBCast as they trace the real history behind the song "Frankie and Johnny," the title track of Elvis's 1966 film. They learn who Frankie Baker was, the man who "done her wrong," the song she couldn't escape, and the identity of the most likely songwriting candidate to have penned the original folk lyrics - on the very day of the true murder. The duo also react to the news about Sony's upcoming "Sunset Boulevard" box set recently announced that will encompass studio recordings from 1972, 1975 and rehearsals from 1970 and 1974, all done at RCA Studios on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. Justin has first impressions of the "Harum Scarum Sessions" FTD set, and then the two take a little time discussing Riley Keough and Gina Gammell's "In Process" short films for Tribeca; not just the one everyone else saw, "Chapter 1: Writing" which was filmed at Graceland and stars Riley herself narrating a short essay about her writing process for both film generally and more specifically about "From Here to the Great Unknown," but also the other two less-appreciated Chapters, "A Self Tape" and "Shooting A Scene," all of which were also co-directed by Riley. Justin's Song of the Week is a breezy listen to "The Meanest Girl in Town" from Girl Happy - and Olivia's Song of the Week IS our main topic! FYI - this episode does intentionally end without a proper "sign-off." If you enjoy TCBCast, please consider supporting us with a donation at Patreon.com/TCBCast. Your support allows us to continue to provide thoughtful, provocative, challenging and well-researched perspectives on Elvis's career, his peers and influences, and his cultural impact and legacy.

Hollow Earth is a theory proposing that the planet Earth is entirely hollow or contains a substantial interior space. The crux of the hollow earth theory is that the earth is a shell with walls about 800 miles thick. In the polar regions there are holes 1400 miles across, with edges that curve smoothly from the outside of the shell around to the inside. A sea or surface traveler could proceed over an edge of the hole, like an ant crawling over the lip of a coffee mug from the outside to the inside, and not be aware that he was actually entering the interior of the earth. Dr. Raymond Bernard or Walter Siegmeister (we'll talk about him later) explains that the holes have never been seen from the air because pilots are fooled by their compasses into believing that they are crossing the pole, when they are actually following the hole's "magnetic rim". Thus aircraft never really fly over the geographic poles, which naturally mark the centers of the holes themselves. As irrefutable proof of his claim, he cites Admiral Byrd's statement, "I'd like to see that land beyond the Pole. That area beyond the Pole is the Great Unknown."Some conspiracy theorists believe the Earth is hollow—and that superior 'alien' humans, Vikings and Nazis live inside. In this episode, Loretta McGregor (Arkansas State University) and Randy Smith (retired) chat with Dave about knowning when it's time to retire or to make a career change, based on what we personally find rewarding. We reflect on technology-related changes in teaching, especially with regard to writing (ever wonder where "cut and paste" came from?). Randy and Loretta also offer some practical suggestions for earlier career faculty about setting themselves up for a successful late career and retirement.

Welcome back, my beautiful friend! Today's episode is about something we all face—the unknown—and how to lean into self-trust when things feel uncertain. Uncertainty is always present in relationships, careers, motherhood, or personal growth. But here's the thing: you don't need to have it all figured out. You just need to trust yourself to figure it out as you go. I share my journey of embracing the unknown, especially in motherhood, and how perfectionism can sneak in and make us believe we need to have a perfect plan. Spoiler alert: we don't! I also share a powerful client story about how they embraced the unknown and came out stronger than ever. We wrap up with a guided exercise to help you anchor into self-trust and a few key takeaways to help you shift your mindset around uncertainty. Let's lean into the messy middle, release perfectionism, and remind ourselves that the unknown is where all the magic happens. What You'll Learn in This Episode: How motherhood (and life!) constantly invites us to embrace the unknown Why perfectionism holds us back and how to release it The power of trusting yourself through uncertainty A guided breathwork exercise to help you cultivate self-trust Three actionable takeaways to help you move forward with confidence 3 Key Takeaways: Practice Presence: Shift your focus from controlling the outcome to fully showing up in the moment. Reframe Self-Doubt: Instead of thinking, “I don't know enough,” remind yourself, “I am learning as I go.” Lean into Trust: Ask yourself, “Where in my life am I waiting for certainty instead of taking the next step?” Links & Resources: Follow me on Instagram: @brittnyking_ Join my 6-week Breathwork Integration Coaching Series to dive deeper into self-trust and transformation. “Caretaker” 30th-anniversary reflections In pursuit of Maquis rebels, the starship Voyager is pulled across the galaxy and quickly becomes entangled in local affairs. Captain Kathryn Janeway and rebel leader Chakotay, whose ship was also snagged by the entity known as the Caretaker, join forces as they look for a way back to Federation space. But first they must rescue missing crew members with the help of an odd merchant and his girlfriend. Once everyone has been safely returned, Janeway is faced with a difficult decision: take her crew home and abandon a world in need or destroy the Caretaker and strand Voyager 70,000 light years from the Federation. In this episode of To The Journey, hosts C Bryan Jones and Matthew Rushing bring back our dedicated Voyager podcast in honor of the 30th-anniversary and kick off a retrospective that will take you through all of the series, one episode at a time. Welcome Back! We're so glad you're here for another episode of our book club series. This week, Michelle and I are diving into another powerful and thought-provoking book, and we can't wait to share our thoughts with you. As always, we'll sprinkle in some fun and laughter because, let's face it, life can be messy and unpredictable—but that's what makes it beautiful. Take a moment to grab your coffee, tea, or favorite drink (Michelle's been sipping on soda while I've been stretching out my "super skinny" Caramelicious from Scooters over several days). Let's settle in and talk books, faith, and everything in between. Book Club Overview: This week's focus is The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom. Last week, we discussed From Here to the Great Unknown, and next week, we'll dive into The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires. The transition from a Christian inspirational memoir to a quirky vampire-themed novel feels like emotional whiplash, but that's part of the fun, right? Expect some laughs and deep conversations as we navigate these very different genres. This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit www.golongtd.comThe Detroit Lions lost far more than a football game to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday at Ford Field.Twenty-one players are now on injured reserve, and that number will likely grow to 22. It doesn't sound good for running back David Montgomery playing again this season. In a 48-42 loss, Montgomery (MCL), Carlton Davis (jaw) and Alim McNeill (knee) all went down. So… what now?The Lions found ways to keep winning when their best defensive player Aidan Hutchinson — a DPOY-level talent — was lost for the season. With three regular-season games left, they're grab-bagging like never before. McNeill (profiled here) and Montgomery (here) have been vital organs to Dan Campbell's team. In line for the No. 1 seed, these Lions are in danger of falling. Here on the Ty & Bob Pod, your NFC North-centric show each week, we examine everything in detail. Hall of Fame scribe Bob McGinn has been closely watching the film of all Lion replacement players all season long. He believes panic is warranted. Still, Campbell is already doing his best via an impassioned radio hit to rally his troops. Back to eating “molded bread,” these Lions face their greatest test yet in 2024. We've got a loaded episode for you. After plenty of Lions discussion/analysis, we transition into the Green Bay Packers thumping the Seattle Seahawks around the 53-minute mark. It was impressive. Jordan Love is playing mistake-free football, and his playmakers are stepping up. Defensively, the pass rush is coming alive.McGinn believes the Packers have the best shot at making the Super Bowl out of all three NFC North clubs, and explains why. You'll want to stick around for his weekly “McGinn Memory” segment. One decade later, we relive the most absurd football game of a generation: Green Bay's NFC Championship loss to the Seahawks. We all remember Brandon Bostick's flub — an unforgivable error to many teammates — but I pointed the finger at Mike McCarthy's passive approach then (and now) and McGinn puts that loss on the MVP Aaron Rodgers, whom he calls “the most overrated quarterback I've seen” on the pod. And of course, we recap the Minnesota Vikings' 30-12 thrashing the Bears. They've got an opening in the North and Brian Flores' defense has Caleb Williams coiling on the bench.Thank you for listening everyone.Go Long subscribers can access the FULL two hours of NFC North talk. We appreciate you sharing the gift of longform with a loved one this Christmas season.Audio is above. Video is below.

Riley opens up about her own grief, and how her mother handled grief after the loss of her father, Elvis Presley. Riley also reveals the significance of the title of the memoir ‘From Here to the Great Unknown.”
