In a society that has embraced so many different things concerning truth and salvation, and in the church that has succeeded in muddying the waters of this time of year, it is of paramount importance that we know the truth about and a Biblical foundation concerning the cross and the resurrection. This morning we will look at Who Died and Rose Again. There are many religions in the world that offer a savior through death and even a resurrection, but we do not want to allow confusion to reign in this matter. We set the precedent last week concerning sin and that sin gave way for deliverance from judgment, death and hell. So, if God said He would provide salvation, then we must see Who will bring it to us.

What Happened When Jesus Died and Rose Again

Peter – The Man Who Fell, 
but Rose Again


Have you ever wondered about the Word "Christ?" Today we dive in and take a closer look at this word and its significance. We begin by taking a look at Genesis 3:15 where we first get a promise of a snake bruiser. God promises Adam and Eve that a "Seed of the Woman" will come destroy the serpent (evil, the devil) once and for all, but This Seed of the woman would also be wounded. The Bible picks up this narrative in Genesis 49:10-12 "The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be. Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass's colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes: His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk." Here God shows that The rule will not depart out of Judah until Shiloh (the messiah) would come. So now we have a picture beginning to form. This Messiah would destroy evil, be a king and be from the line of Judah. The Lord's Annointed were the priests (Exodus 28:41, 29:7) and the Kings (1 Samuel 9:16; 15:1; 16:12). And this is what David often referred to Saul as (1 Samuel 24:6; 24:10; 26:9; 26:11; 26:16; 26:23; 2 Samuel 1:14) David literally called Saul the Lord's "Messiah". But Saul was from the line of Benjamin, so He couldn't be "The" Messiah. But now David enters the scene, from the tribe of Judah, He has a scepter as king, and he is anointed... This might be the one! But He doesn't bruise the snake, instead he gives in. We reference Daniel 9:25-26 where the messiah is cut off, but not for himself. We also reference Isaiah 53 to show that He would bear our sins. We don't know who this Messiah will be until Jesus comes and is of the line of Judah, and claims to be a king and priest. Jesus comes, and is cut off on the cross for the sins of you and I, and we can be saved and remade if we will but believe that HE ACTUALLY DIED FOR OUR SINS, was buried and ROSE AGAIN! Who is This Person Who was Crucified and Rose Again by Kiltarlity Free Church

Christ's resurrection guarantees the believer's resurrection; the believer's resurrection gives life meaning; and the believer's resurrection makes death a gain. Many believe Jesus was a good man or prophet and he had no other purpose, they believe he was crucified and that is the end. No spiritualality to him at all, no titles more than that. They don't believe he was the son of God whom God sent into the world to set endless examples and redeem man back to God. Jesus paid the price that we could not pay, he took the sting out of death so we don't have to feel the pain. A Believer never have to be afraid of death because Jesus faced death for us. 1st Cor 15:22 the quest is ask to death. The resurrection of Jesus means he has risen from the dead, no need to fear, and now there is new life. Jesus said he would die but rise again and he did what he said he rose from the dead. Many were and are surprised by the thought of Jesus coming back as he said Acts 26:8. HE IS RISEN!

Jesus died and and rose again to be the Lord or owner of us all. We will stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

Jesus FINISHED the work of redemption, GAVE HIS LIFE on the cross, and then ROSE AGAIN to prove His claims.

Rooted (11) Malcolm speaking on "Rose Again....Promised Resurrection" Outline: Jesus' death provided atonement for sin, and His resurrection showed that this work was complete. In rising from the dead Jesus demonstrated His authority&name; proving that He was who He said He was, and that He could fulfil His promises. It was proof of His power to defeat death. The truth of Christ's resurrection is the basis of our hope that we too will be raised. Without Christ's resurrection what hope would we have?
