We discuss the relation between hard and soft hearts and what this has to do with maintaining a teachable but not gullible mind.

Legalism in the Church
Dr. Luke introduced the book of Acts by saying he intended to record what Jesus taught AND DID. The implication is clear: Jesus did more than teach; He validated His teaching with signs and wonders. When John the Baptist’s disciples came to Jesus to inquire if He was truly the Messiah, Jesus responded by referring to the miracles that marked His ministry. Again, not what Jesus said or taught, but what He DID. If 1 Cor. 4:20 is true, that the kingdom of God is not in talk (word), but in power, then it should be normative to expect the supernatural among us. This Sunday, after talking about how to hear from God, and how to give a word from the Lord to another person, we are actually going to do it! Get ready for a lab experience as we partner with the precious and powerful Holy Spirit.

What are the Core Values of the Kingdom?

What are the Core Values of the Kingdom?
The history of the church that chooses to divide and conquer with our privileges and preferences is long--it is indeed very long. This "us and them" mentality is seemingly so innate to our faith, we don't pause like Peter enough to ask, "Who am I that I should hinder God?" Whitney Fauntleroy preaches on the Fifth Sunday of Easter and Confirmation Sunday. The Scripture lesson is Acts 11:1-18.

In this sermon, Pastor John wrapped up his series in Acts 1-11. Peter is asked by the church leaders to explain his fellowship with Gentiles. He responds by telling them of a vision he received at Joppa, a vision of God's expansive love. It's a vision that leads to a new world of embrace and well-being that requires no barriers of exclusion.

The coming of the Holy Spirit to the Gentiles led to conflict and even anger in the church. Could the Jewish Christians accept that God was doing something new in their day?
Pastor John uses Acts 11:1-18 to enlighten about God's message for all people.
Peter was shown that everyone belongs to God. He, and others like him, had tried to exclude others, but the apostle learned that was not God’s plan. Even after Christ has been raised, people are still excluded from the family of God. We need people to serve.

What did Jesus accomplish on the cross?
Pastor Joshua Giles deals with beliefs and prejudice that all cultures have. It has even been prevalent in the church but God is tearing it down. There is not a white church, a black church, a Latino church, a Chinese church, a Russian church and so on; but the church that God has established is a Kingdom church and Kingdom Embassy is part of that church.

The Christian Church rapidly grew on the basis of eyewitness stories of Jesus Christ, and many became believers even under horrendous persecution. Today our stories must be told to be obedient to Jesus’ command to be his witnesses. Jesus tells us, “You will be my witnesses.” (Acts 1:8) How do you personally feel about that? Will you tell your story? From Peter’s experience of re-telling his story in Acts 11, we can glean that telling your story is good because: It’s your story. (Acts 11:4-5) The Holy Spirit can be received by others. (Acts 11:15) The community is built up. (Acts 11:18) Application: Tell your story in 90 seconds.
