DESCRIPTIONWhat's Buzzing is a brand new segment from Gospel Music Buzz — same wholesome lens, broader conversations. We are talking to artists, creatives, and culture makers about what they have going on right now.We are kicking off Episode 1 with a conversation I did not see coming.Simone Green is a Chicago-based R&B vocalist, songwriter, culture-activist, and two-time breast cancer survivor marking her 10th anniversary since her first diagnosis. She is also the director of a legal staffing firm, co-founder of the band Soul Sanctuary, and the artist behind Black Queen — the female empowerment anthem currently spinning on BET Soul and BETher across all BET Networks properties. In this conversation Simone opens up about where she was when she received that first cancer diagnosis and what it took to survive it twice. She shares the wild story of how doing somebody's hair in college led to a life-changing connection with Grammy Award-winning producer Maurice Joshua and brought her to Chicago. We get into what emotional sovereignty really means, why she filmed the Black Queen music video using her real unfiltered life, and what is coming on her sophomore album Black Queen dropping on her birthday August 8th 2026.Yonette Odessa joins for the wrap up as well. Stay until the end.Black Queen is out now on all platforms.

This month on Laura Flanders and Friends, we're revisiting conversations around the earth, the natural world and climate justice in action. This week, Survival Guide for Humans Learned from Marine Mammals with Alexis Pauline Gumbs. Make a tax deductible donation and become a member at LauraFlanders.org/donate. This show is made possible by you! Description: Are you drowning? This year hasn't been smooth sailing for many of us — with extreme temperatures, and other crises. How do we take a breath? Alexis Pauline Gumbs' UNDROWNED: Black Feminist Lessons from Marine Mammals, draws on the practices of marine mammals — they are the experts, after all, in not drowning. (The harbor seal can slow its breath to about four beats per minute!) The book landed her the prestigious 2022 Whiting Prize for nonfiction, and now she is working on a biography of Audre Lorde. Plus, she is bringing people together through Soul Sanctuary, retreats that center a Black, feminist and queer vision. Join Laura and Gumbs for a conversation on how we can all practice “another way to breathe.” Music featured in the middle of the radio show and podcast is the title track of Samora Pinderhughes' “Transformation Suite”. “This is an offering towards evolution, towards our evolution, towards the possibility that instead of continuing the trajectory of slavery, entrapment, separation, and domination, and making our atmosphere unbreakable, we might instead practice another way to breathe.” - Alexis Pauline Gumbs “The context of undrowning, breathing in unbreathable circumstances is what we do every day, in the choke hold of racial, gendered, ableist capitalism. We are still undrowning. And by we, I don't only mean people like myself whose ancestors specifically survive the middle passage.” - Alexis Pauline Gumbs Guest: Alexis Pauline Gumbs, Poet, Author, Independent Scholar & Activist Watch the episode released on YouTube; PBS World Channel nationally airing Sundays at 11:30am ET and on over 300 public stations across the country (check your listings, or search here via zipcode). Functionally Enlightened - Better ways to heal from chronic pain and illness
In this episode of the Functionally Enlightened Podcast, Sharon Surita, PhD, BCFDNP sits down with Elizabeth Stauder, practitioner and founder of Body and Soul Sanctuary, to explore the role of nervous system regulation, somatic trauma reprocessing, and mind-body repatterning in chronic illness recovery.Elizabeth shares her deeply personal healing journey after developing dysautonomia following a vaccine injury, compounded by profound personal loss. When conventional approaches failed to provide answers, Elizabeth began integrating her training in somatic trauma work, neuroscience, and ancient healing practices to reclaim control over her nervous system and restore balance in her body.Together we explore how hypervigilance, trauma physiology, and nervous system dysregulation can perpetuate chronic illness, and how simple daily practices can begin shifting the body out of survival mode. This conversation is especially relevant for individuals navigating implant illness, dysautonomia, mast cell activation, Lyme disease, autoimmune conditions, and chronic inflammation, where nervous system resilience often becomes a critical piece of recovery. In This Episode We Discuss• Elizabeth's personal story of dysautonomia and recovery• How trauma and medical PTSD can affect chronic illness• Understanding hypervigilance and functional freeze states• The importance of validating emotions during illness• Somatic practices to help regulate the nervous system• Journaling, breathwork, and visualization tools for daily healing• How nervous system coherence supports immune and inflammatory balance• Reclaiming agency in the healing process• The role of community and guided support in recoveryAbout Our GuestElizabeth Stauder specializes in somatic trauma reprocessing and mind-body repatterning. Her work integrates neuroscience, trauma physiology, and ancient healing practices to help individuals restore nervous system regulation and reclaim personal agency during chronic illness recovery.Following a life-altering health crisis involving dysautonomia, Elizabeth applied her training and lived experience to develop practical approaches for healing that combine emotional validation, somatic practices, and daily rhythms that support the nervous system. She currently leads the Body and Soul Sanctuary, a membership program focused on somatic healing and developmental trauma work.Resources & LinksElizabeth StauderWebsite: https://www.bodyandsoulsanctuary.comYouTube https://www.youtube.com/@elizabethenteringthestreamFacebook https://www.facebook.com/elizabeth.stauder.5Free Community https://www.skool.com/body-soul-village-3993/aboutAbout the Functionally Enlightened PodcastThe Functionally Enlightened Podcast explores root-cause healing strategies for chronic illness, implant-related illness, autoimmune conditions, environmental toxicity, and metabolic dysfunction.Host Sharon Surita, PhD, BCFDNP interviews leading experts, practitioners, and individuals who have successfully navigated complex health challenges.Episodes are available on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and other major podcast platforms.Chapters00:00 Introduction02:15 Elizabeth's health crisis and dysautonomia journey06:20 When conventional medicine didn't have answers10:40 Trauma, grief, and nervous system dysregulation15:10 Understanding hypervigilance in chronic illness19:30 Functional freeze and the body's survival response24:45 Why emotional validation is critical to healing29:10 Somatic tools for nervous system regulation33:30 Breathwork, journaling, and visualization practices37:20 Reclaiming agency in the healing process40:00 Elizabeth's Body & Soul Sanctuary community42:00 Final thoughts and resources

About this Episode In this episode, Cate Stillman sits down with Elizabeth Stauder, a somatic transformation coach, trauma-integration guide, and founder of the Body and Soul Sanctuary. Known for her ability to translate deep nervous-system wisdom into practical healing pathways, Elizabeth blends somatic science, ancestral wisdom, and lived experience. After a near-death vaccine injury catalyzed her journey into trauma healing, she dedicated her work to helping others reconnect with the parts of themselves that were severed during overwhelm or cultural conditioning. Her community-based model empowers people to heal through connection, co-regulation, and embodied belonging. Together, Cate and Elizabeth explore how trauma disconnects us from our inner resources, how community accelerates nervous-system repair, and why somatic reconnection—not willpower—is the foundation of true transformation. Key Takeaways: Trauma as Lost Resource: Trauma isn't a flaw or a wound to analyze—it's a disconnection from an inner resource that once kept you whole. Healing begins when we learn to reconnect with that missing piece instead of reliving what went wrong. Nervous System Repair Through Somatic Work: Elizabeth shows how somatic practices help the body remember safety, belonging, and coherence. When the nervous system realigns, old patterns naturally dissolve without force or struggle. Community as a Biological Need: Healing accelerates when we're surrounded by people who listen, attune, and move with us—just like birds or fish syncing in nature. Without this co-regulation, the journey becomes isolating and heavy. Reframing Cultural Narratives of "Brokenness": Modern culture tells us to handle everything alone, but rugged individualism only deepens disconnection. True transformation requires shared signals, support, and belonging—not self-reliance in isolation. The Power of Co-Regulation and Embodied Presence: In a safe group, nervous systems communicate nonverbally, creating an environment where insights arise organically. When we heal together, the unhealthy layers fall away because they're no longer needed. I am thrilled to share a special concert with you from Rachelle Jeanty, an international singer-songwriter, keynote speaker, and proud HSP. She toured with Celine Dion, has 4 albums, a Ted Talk, and sold-out concerts worldwide. I love that She's a listener on The HSP Podcast, and that's how we connected. We were so honored that She recorded a special concert for us in the Sensitive Empowerment Community, and I wanted to share her voice, gift, and message with HSPs worldwide. She is a wonderful example of using your gifts to share a message to inspire and help others rise. She has such a beautiful voice and spirit and shines brightly. She shares a self-love song, sings affirmations, invites you to join, and shares important messages about listening to your intuition and inner voice. This inspires a path of what is meant for us. You'll hear her mention gratitude for my efforts to acknowledge and help BIPOC HSPs so our HSP BIPOC listeners know I offer scholarships to my courses and community. We also have a special group within the community called Soul Sanctuary for HSPs of color. Let's share this with others and imagine we are all coming together A note while listening…Sometimes, there are some moments of silence where she closes her eyes and connects. I invite you to close your eyes during those moments, too. More about Rachelle… For years, Rachelle has been sharing the space of Spirit and Soul with her voice words, her music and her Joy. After a two-year world tour as back vocalist for Celine Dion, and on the road with many others, Rachelle decided to leave the glamour of the music industry in order to fulfill a deeper purpose: discover, nurture and serve her Higher Self and help guide seekers to this dimension within, through the power of music and of meditation. This 20 year path, carved by many triumphs and great defeats, have brought Rachelle to create and present a TEDx talk about intuition and the crucial role it plays in the navigation towards our best existence. Musically, Rachelle also recorded four albums to her name, performed at the United Nations and has sung with the Vienna Boys Choir. For many years, she offered her ‘'Spirit of Joy'' music & meditation concerts and workshops to hundreds of audiences, in churches, halls and sold out venues of Europe, where she has been living since 2010. Most recently, as her artistry expands, so does her message. Her latest song ‘'BREAK FREE'' is an anthem, a power funk track and a strong message about breaking the invisible chains hindering Feminine Energy and Female Power to be leading forces in this world. Rachelle's TEDx Talk Her latest song ‘'BREAK FREE'' YouTube channels: Spirituality & Meditation Entertainment As you can imagine, Rachelle's schedule is pretty full-on with touring and performing, and we are thrilled for her to record, especially for our community, and make a guest appearance.
