How can AI help optometrists detect more than just diabetic retinopathy? In this episode, we speak with Dr. Hadi Chakor and Yves-Stéphane Couture, the visionary minds behind DIAGNOS. Together, they share their groundbreaking partnership with IRIS, a consortium of optometry practices spanning Canada. They shared how their collaboration harnesses a vast database of patient images to redefine the approach to retinal healthcare in the Great White North. By May of 2023, IRIS and DIAGNOS had screened over 13,000 patients and developed an algorithm to help detect diabetic retinopathy, hypertensive retinopathy, and macular degeneration. Dr. Chakor and Yves also navigate through the ethical considerations of patient consent and the profound implications of AI on early retinal disease detection and microcirculation changes. Throughout the episode, they emphasize that AI isn't here to replace us; it's here to empower us. And that Optometrists, armed with AI, can deliver precision, compassion, and superior patient care. Join us in learning the boundless potential AI brings to the forefront of healthcare innovation.Love the show? Subscribe, rate, review & share! http://www.aboutmyeyes.com/podcast
Edited highlights of our full conversation. Here's a question. How do your people know you're here for them? This week's guest is Yves Briantais. He's the VP of Marketing Asia-Pacific for Colgate-Palmolive. We recorded this interview at the end of a long week at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity. There are a number of areas that I could have focused on for this introduction. But the one I want to highlight is an issue that I hear about from so many leaders today. Where they lead from. For businesses that depend on unlocking creativity and innovation, the era of top down leadership is ending. And faster than many companies - most companies - realize. Servant leadership is the popular replacement. Popular in that many people talk about it, very few have fully understood it, and almost no one actually practices it. Quarterly financial targets have a habit of getting in the way of good intentions. Leading from behind is a thoughtful and honorable desire to get away from command and control leadership, and instead create a different kind of relationship with your team. One in which they know you're there for them, while giving them room to grow. But it doesn't quite go far enough - in my opinion. The challenge for leaders is that today, leadership requires so many different styles of relationship with your teams, depending on the situation. Collaboration. Subordination. Integration. Provocation. Expectation. And, when the heat is on, Protection. A friend and I are working on a new leadership paradigm, one designed from vast experience both inside and outside complex, highly creative and innovative businesses. One built for the reality of the world and society in which we live and for the people that we want to be. We'll have much more on this over the next few weeks. In the meantime, this conversation is invaluable for Yves' insights on empathy, intention, and co-creation.

It's certainly been an interesting week for Boston's "hip-hop culture", for better and for worse! Before getting into that, we kicked off this week's episode with Yves discussing his bucket list of must-watch concerts, while Nate and Rob reflected on their recent freestyles on CWTFB Radio. We then addressed a viral tweet that caused Boston's hip-hop scene to go on the defense over the weekend, which led us into a conversation about the ignorant stigmas of Boston and its prominent Black community. With our excitement around this Saturday's (Sept. 23rd) Ultimate Iron Chamber, we dedicated the entire second half of the show to sharing our predictions of each first round matchup. The winner of the Ultimate Iron Chamber will not only have bragging rights as the "Grand Master of the Chamber", but will also be awarded a whopping $5,000 grand prize! For those unfamiliar, Rob and Yves will be commentating and live streaming the entire event on YouTube, as Nate and Tomo (along with many other talented performers in the scene) will also be participating as contestants in Boston's premier MC tournament! Don't miss out and make sure to buy your tickets to watch and decide which act will be the Grand Master of the Chamber! Check out the time stamps below to know what other topics we discussed. In this podcast episode, Jerred Moon and Yves delve into the topic of productivity, conquering procrastination, and sharpening focus. Jerred, a seasoned business owner, shares his personal experiences and strategies for managing multiple tasks and staying organized. He introduces his system, which originated from a basic to-do list and has evolved to include prioritizing tasks based on urgency and importance, setting goals, and time-blocking tasks. Inspired by his pilot training, Jerred developed a symbolic tracking system using dashes, pluses, and circles to represent ideas, tasks in progress, and completed tasks. The discussion then moves to the concept of focusing only on the highest priority tasks and the "two-hour test." Jerred explains that by asking oneself what they would focus on if they only had two hours to work, it becomes easier to prioritize and avoid getting caught up in busy work. He also emphasizes the importance of regularly decluttering the task list by deleting irrelevant tasks at the end of each week.Towards the end of the episode, Jerred highlights the danger of comfort becoming a self-built prison. He warns against the potential distractions that can consume hours of our day in small increments and urges listeners to implement the productivity techniques discussed. Knowledge alone is not enough; forming new habits is key to achieving greater productivity and efficiency. Nearly all startups fail. Often even founders with a successful exit under their belts have stories of entrepreneurial strikeouts prior to or after their home run. But every once in while there's a founder who seems to have the Midas touch who just keeps winning. No, I'm not talking here about Elon Musk. Rather, I'm talking about Yves Potvin. The classically trained chef pioneered the plant-based meat movement, founding Yves Veggie Cuisine in the 1980s, which was acquired for $35 million by natural foods giant Hain Celestial. One successful exit is rare, but Yves went on to then found Gardein, which brought alt-meat to even higher heights and was eventually acquired by Pinnacle Foods for $175 million. Rather than resting on his laurels and retiring into the Alt-Meat Hall of Fame (which if it existed he'd certainly be in it!), today Yves is betting that entrepreneurial lightning will strike a third time. He's just launched a new brand called Konscious Foods which aims to bring fish-free seafood to the masses, starting with sushi and other Japanese delights. Rather than relying on extruded plant protein isolates—the core of Gardein's products, along with most other alt-meats—Konscious is using whole vegetables like tomatoes, carrots, eggplant, and konjac as its core seafood replacers. But Konscious' frozen sushi, poke bowls, and onigiri don't taste like vegetable rolls. Rather, since Konscious acquired the IP of the defunct alt-seafood company Ocean Hugger Foods, the vegetables are prepared in such a way as to give the feel and taste of products like tuna, crab, and so on. Already they're in Sprouts and Whole Foods (see their frozen sections), and you can even get sushi made at the Whole Foods sushi counter with their fish-free fish product. In this interview, Yves and I talk about his life, success, struggles along the way, and lessons he's learned during his multi-decade career seeking to replace animals in the food system with healthier, more humane, and more sustainable options. Discussed in this episode You can see Konscious' products here. Konscious Foods recently raised $26 million in venture capital. Konscious Foods acquired Ocean Hugger Foods' intellectual property. Yves previously founded both Yves Veggie Cuisine (acquired by Hain Celestial) and Gardein (acquired by Pinnacle, and now owned by ConAgra). Yves worked on Gardein with Tal Ronen, who later founded Crossroads Kitchen. Paul saw Quorn's vegan chicken sold at KFC UK at price parity with conventional chicken. Yves recommends reading Shoe Dog, Steve Jobs, and books by Brian Tracy. More about Yves Potvin Yves Potvin has dedicated his culinary career to creating healthy, tasty, convenient foods that can now be found in institutions across North America. In 2017, Yves bought Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts in Vancouver, and he is excited about training the next generation of chefs while infusing nutrition studies, sustainable practices and new technologies into the curriculum. Trained as a classical French chef, Yves successfully built two health-focused food companies. His first, Yves Veggie Cuisine, grew to become the largest refrigerated meat-alternative producer in North America. It was sold to the Hain Celestial Group in 2001. Yves then founded Garden Protein International in 2003 to create a meatless product line called Gardein, which redefined the plant protein category and became a game changer in this fast-growing segment. Gardein received many awards including Better Homes & Gardens' Best New Product Award 2014, Canadian Grand Prix Award (four years in a row), and the National Restaurant Association's 2014 Food and Beverage Innovation Award. Yves is now the founder and president of Konscious Foods, offering consumers with conscious and convenient plant-based seafood. Yves has been recognized for his career achievements, receiving the BC Food Processors Innovation Award in 2014, Mercy for Animals Innovative Business Award 2014, BC Export Award 2014 for Sustainability, and Canada's Top 40 under 40 Award from Financial Post magazine. Yves served on the UBC Faculty of Land and Food Systems Advisory Board from 2007-2018, and on the BC Ministry of Agriculture Board of Advisors.

Danny and Yves discuss the best ways to reinvest in a physical therapy cash practice. They emphasize that reinvesting is important for tax advantages and the growth of enterprise value over time. The five main areas to reinvest are:Knowledge - Improving one's own skills and abilities through continued education and mentorship. This is the safest investment that cannot be taken away.Space - Expanding the physical space of the clinic to accommodate more staff and patients. This allows for generating more revenue.People - Hiring staff like clinicians, and administrators to fulfill services and free up the owner's time. People become advocates for the business.Technology and equipment - Investing in tools that increase efficiency, outcomes, and marketing opportunities like blood flow restriction equipment.Vendors - Outsourcing specialized skills to fractionalized service groups in areas like marketing, accounting and financial planning. This plugs expertise into the business efficiently. They stress finding the right vendors specialized in the industry. Reinvesting provides tax advantages, and enterprise value growth and allows focusing on relationships over just business. The conversation emphasizes allocating resources strategically to compound returns through knowledge, leverage, and valuable skills long-term.Head to the link below to participate in our 5 Day Challenge! https://www.physicaltherapybiz.com/challenge www.physicaltherapybiz.com/applyDo you enjoy the podcast? This episode's got everything you've grown to love about Bad For The Community! On this week's episode, BFTC kicked off by discussing if music videos even matter anymore, what the difference between an "artist" and a "creative" is, and also, things start to get heated between Tomo & Rob over a battle of semantics. Later on, Tomo & Yves recapped their "Mind of a Hustla" art exhibit, Nate unboxed his new sneakers gifted from Converse, which led to a Nike vs Adidas debate and other funny sneaker hot takes. The second half is when things start to heat up! After reacting to Burna Boy's comments about the Afrobeats genre lacking substance, the guys share a funny exchange about Rob's girlfriend going on a Miami vacation... with her single friends. The guys also previewed the upcoming Ultimate Iron Chamber event (Sept. 23rd), reacted to Miguel's insane (and gross) performance stunt , and discussed the potential threats of an AI-driven future. Yves La Rose is the CEO of the EOS Network Foundation and a modern-day samurai. EOS was the largest ICO and raised over $4 billion in the biggest initial coin offering of all time. With its promise of being more efficient than other cryptocurrencies, EOS gained a reputation as "Ethereum on Steroids." Over time, however, users declined, its token's value declined, and developers left the project. Yves La Rose and the EOS community are determined to bring EOS back from the dead. Why you should listen The EOS community, led by Yves La Rose, feels that the ICO funds were used for unrelated ventures and that Block.one has neglected the project. The community has shifted its focus and is determined to regain control of the platform. As a result, there is now a renewed emphasis on developing the core technology of EOS. The EOS Network Foundation is coordinating and advancing the EOS network, including its upcoming major consensus upgrade, Antelope Leap 5.0. Yves expresses optimism for EOS's future and aims to regain its position among the top ten cryptocurrencies due to its scalability, mass adoption potential, and impressive transaction capabilities at low cost with reliable uptime. https://www.coinsbee.com/en/ https://eosnetwork.com/ If you enjoyed the show please subscribe to the Crypto Conversation and give us a 5-star rating and a positive review in whatever podcast app you are using.

Ressources Livre « Envahir l'Ethiopie. On this special episode of Bad For The Community, we're joined by a super talented visual artist and designer, Tori DelValle (aka ThirteenVic)! Tori recently held her first art gallery exhibit at NOSA Boston titled "Lost Grief". In this episode, Doc Danny and Yves dive into the three biggest mistakes people make during the hiring process that result in high turnover. They acknowledge that some turnover is normal, especially with younger clinicians who have a freelance mentality. However, they caution against hiring someone too similar to oneself as it can lead to replacement attempts or a lack of diversity in the interview pool. They recommend using the Rocket Fuel quiz to assess potential employees' natural tendencies. The episode dives into the complexities of hiring and retaining employees as a business owner, emphasizing the challenges of delegation and the time-intensive nature of managing employees. The hosts suggest that one-on-one mentorship with a direct superior is the most crucial factor in employee retention.Head to the link below to participate in our 5 Day Challenge! https://www.physicaltherapybiz.com/challenge www.physicaltherapybiz.com/applyDo you enjoy the podcast? N°305 / 9 juillet 2023.
