Incorporating a sermon that was preached at U-Turn World Ministries on 6/8/15, This powerful message is incredibly important and timely, addressing a truth that applies to every believer's life. What happens when fear and a lack of commitment lead us to "spiritual suicide"?In this deep dive, Coach Shelby unpacks why it's crucial to submit your ways to the Lord, not just your plans. The calling of God on your life will always bring the opponent of fear. Fear was meant to be overcome by faith. Without an obstacle, there can be no known victory. Think about sports and the purpose! (As seen in 1 Samuel 10 and other verses.) Using vivid coaching analogies and biblical insights, Coach Shelby exposes how complacency and fear can keep you from being "chosen" for God's purposes, even if you're called. Learn from the example of King Saul, and discover how God empowers you to overcome every obstacle through faith. This video is a direct, urgent call to stop hiding, engage in the spiritual battle, and unleash the full power of the Holy Spirit within you.Don't be left behind! Challenge your heart and align your life with the unwavering truth of God's Word.In this eye-opening message, you'll discover:Submitting Your Ways (Work) to the Lord: Understand the critical difference between submitting your plans and submitting all that you do for God to establish His purpose. (Proverbs 16:3)Many Are Called, But Few Are Chosen: Explore what it truly means to be "chosen" for God's work, not just to be on the team. (Matthew 22:14)The Anointing of King Saul & The Opponent of Fear: Examine Saul's initial anointing and how fear, the inevitable opponent, tests faith and the calling. (1 Samuel 10)The Purpose of Opposition: Understand that fear and obstacles are allowed by God to prove your faith and demonstrate the greater power of Christ within you. (Luke 10)Avoiding Spiritual & Physical Suicide: A sobering warning to deal with spiritual issues before they lead to devastating physical consequences, and a call to finish strong in Christ. Learn how to turn a single showdown into a strategic advantage at the poker table. In this episode, Mike and Gary break down five real-world hand scenarios and reveal powerful counter-strategies to exploit common player types—ranging from over-bluffers to under-value bettors. If you're ready to level up your poker reads and punish your opponents' mistakes, this one's for you. Sign up for the Upswing Lab to follow a clear, structured path to poker improvement. Sharpen your solver fundamentals by joining the Lucid Poker GTO Trainer. View the written version of this episode here. 00:00 Introduction to Opponent Exploitation 01:16 Sizing Up with Strong Hands 02:39 Loose Preflop Calls 03:40 Donking with One Pair 06:29 Facing an Overbluffer 11:36 Passive Players and Missed Value 12:30 Wrap-Up and Lab 2.0 Tease In this episode of the Upswing Poker Level-Up poker strategy podcast, Mike Brady and poker pro Gary Blackwood dive into one of the most underrated tools in your poker arsenal: the power of a single showdown. They explore how observing just one hand at showdown can give you a massive edge against your opponents—if you know how to interpret it correctly. Through five detailed hand examples, the duo breaks down how to spot key player tendencies and then exploit them ruthlessly in future hands. The show kicks off with a reminder that player behavior often has patterns—but not always—so while one showdown can reveal a lot, multiple showdowns are even better. That said, even one hand can provide enough insight to expose a player's habits. Hand #1 features a player who sizes up their preflop raise with strong hands, signaling a predictable pattern you can punish by tightening up against large raises and ramping up aggression against standard sizes. In Hand #2, Mike and Gary analyze a loose caller who shows down junky hands like K7 offsuit and J9 offsuit in spots where tighter ranges are mandatory. The adjustment? Raise bigger preflop and exploit their bloated, weak ranges postflop with aggressive continuation betting and double barreling. Hand #3 covers the infamous "donk bettor"—players who lead out inappropriately from the big blind on dry boards. These players are easy to read: when they check, they're often weak, giving you permission to go into bluff mode. Hand #4 introduces the "serial bluffer"—the kind of player who can't resist betting flop, turn, and river with air. The key exploit? Out of position check-raise your strong hands early to build the pot. In position, trap with hands that can take heat. Mike even references a complementary video on Lucid Poker's YouTube channel that expands on this exact concept, reinforcing the episode's focus on applying theory to real-world opponents. Finally, Hand #5 wraps things up with a look at passive players who fail to value bet thinly enough. These opponents can often be overfolded against when they show aggression and should be treated cautiously when you're considering a thin value bet. Packed with practical advice and counter-strategies, this poker strategy podcast episode is a must-listen for anyone who wants to move beyond generic advice and start making razor-sharp adjustments based on real player behavior. If you're serious about becoming more exploitative and maximizing EV, this is the poker strategy podcast episode that will help you get there.

In this powerful episode, we dive deep into the nature of the “opponent” — the ego-driven force within us that perpetuates selfishness, pain, and separation. The core message revolves around how this opponent continuously pushes us into patterns of egocentricity, fear, doubt, jealousy, and suffering, keeping us trapped in a cycle of repeated pain and ignorance. But the good news? The Source has already given us a way to rise above this force and reclaim the pure consciousness and everlasting happiness that was originally ours. The episode breaks down four crucial ways the Source empowers us to overcome the opponent:First, we are able to feel potential pain without having to experience the full blow of actual pain. This is the mercy built into the game — a protective measure allowing us to confront challenges without being destroyed by them.Second, we can let the ego take the hit instead of the soul taking the hit. The ego is a false self, a mask crafted by the opponent to keep us trapped in selfishness and suffering. By allowing the ego to suffer and absorb the pain, the soul remains unharmed and free to move toward greater awareness and freedom.Third, the game asks us to choose short-term pain over long-term suffering. This is the essence of renouncing selfishness. Though letting go of ego-driven desires hurts — and it hurts deeply — this initial pain is a shortcut to breaking free from the cycle of long-lasting pain, disease, emotional turmoil, and repeated lifetimes of suffering.Fourth, constant awareness of the pain and its purpose is essential. Recognizing that the pain inflicted by the opponent is a signal, a challenge designed to lead us toward greater consciousness, helps us endure and even welcome the discomfort. This awareness transforms pain from an enemy into a guide. The episode further unpacks how selfishness is not simply a human flaw but the opponent's primary tool, disguised under countless expressions like jealousy, anger, fear, and doubt. It's the force behind every global and personal problem — poverty, disease, environmental destruction — reflecting the collective ego's effect on the world.Yet, the opponent isn't an evil entity but rather a force working for the Source's ultimate purpose: to push us to grow and earn our way back to pure consciousness — a state of love, abundance, and joy. It's a challenging journey, often taking lifetimes, but one worth every struggle. The episode closes with a call to brothers everywhere to renounce selfishness, embrace selflessness, and face the ego's challenges head-on. To welcome humiliation, embarrassment, and the “death” of the false self as the path to true freedom. To understand that the external world is a mirror of our inner state and that miracles happen when we overcome our ego-driven nature. In embracing this truth, we find the power to break free from the opponent's grip and elevate our alpha — our pure consciousness — toward the happiness and peace that awaits us beyond the game.
Our “face to face conversations with Americans” continues this week with a group of folks sitting around a kitchen table in the Western Suburbs of Chicago. How divided are we? I asked Harris voters why people voted for Trump. I asked Trump voters why people voted for Harris. I asked them all to put the best reasons forward. They all struggled with it. We lack understanding these days. We really do. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
In this multi-part episode, we go deep into the game of life — not as it appears on the surface, but as it truly is in the unseen world of consciousness, energy, and soul design. This isn't about philosophy or religion. It's about remembering. It's about returning. It's about rising. In Part 1, we begin with the “who” — who you truly are beneath the illusions. You are not the body. You are not your thoughts. You are not your beta condition. You are the vessel designed to receive and radiate endless energy. You are the alpha state, the spark of the Source, sent here not to suffer but to succeed — to remember your divinity, to overcome the illusion of separation, and to return home with more than you left with.In Part 2, we dive into the “why” — why you came here. We explore the divine intention behind your descent into this realm of contrast and duality. You didn't fall by accident; you came to transform lack into abundance, pain into power, and illusion into truth. You came to earn what was once given freely — to become a creator like the Creator. And we introduce the key player in this journey: the opponent, the force that appears negative but ultimately serves your elevation. In Part 3, we explore the “how” — how the fall happened, how the opponent infiltrated the vessel, and how low self-worth became the greatest lie ever told. Through metaphor and story, we uncover how temptation lured us into short-term pleasure, how shame disconnected us from the Source, and how the ego — the voice of the opponent — became the dominant operating system for humanity. But this isn't a story of defeat. It's the beginning of the awakening. This episode sets the stage for learning how to play the game — to know the rules, develop your strategy, and practice with purpose. Because when you do, brother, you win. And when you win, you earn the energy, the light, the love that has always been yours.Next week, we go deeper into the opponent's use of pain — and how to transcend it.
