You know that one person in your circle who suddenly becomes a “personal shopper” the moment they get a staff discount? Yeah, this is about them. So, what are you asking your friends and family to hook you up with because they get a discount? For some it’s the obvious, “Ag please, check me that Takealot plug.” Suddenly everyone needs gadgets, kitchen appliances, headphones, and things they definitely weren’t planning to buy until they found out there’s a staff discount involved.
Ururka SABC ayaa ganacsatada Victoria u qabtay shir ay sheegeen in ganacsatada lagu baraarujiyo, sidii ay ganacsigooda u horumarin lahaayeen, ha noqoto faham buuxa oo ay ka yeeshaan shuruudaha, sharciyada, xeerarka kale ee u yaalla ganacsiyada iyo iskaashiga.
In this episode, Whackhead tackles the ongoing saga of the TV license fee. He shares a hilarious and relatable story about a woman who's been receiving harassing calls from the SABC about her late father's TV license. You'll hear the ridiculous conversation she has with the SABC representative, who insists on speaking to her father's "ashes."See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Amy MacIver is joined now by Duncan McLeod, Editor of TechCentral, to unpack how the SABC lost its way over the past 50 years — and what it must become if it’s to remain relevant to South Africans in the decades ahead. Presenter John Maytham is an actor and author-turned-talk radio veteran and seasoned journalist. His show serves a round-up of local and international news coupled with the latest in business, sport, traffic and weather. The host’s eclectic interests mean the program often surprises the audience with intriguing book reviews and inspiring interviews profiling artists. A daily highlight is Rapid Fire, just after 5:30pm. CapeTalk fans call in, to stump the presenter with their general knowledge questions. Another firm favourite is the humorous Thursday crossing with award-winning journalist Rebecca Davis, called “Plan B”. In South Africa in the 50's, a real life JAWS story unfolded on the coast of Natal. This is that story told by Anthony White in a SABC radio program, produced in 1975.
Picture it. You're about to dive into yet another strategy planning session with your team. You've got the flip charts, the markers, the frameworks, the best intentions… and a sinking feeling that this is going to end up just like last time—disconnected, circular, and unclear. Somewhere along the way, you've probably heard that storytelling can help. But not so fast. My guest today, Brett Davidson, is here to turn that idea on its head. He's the founder and principal of Wingseed, where he helps foundations and nonprofits around the world use narrative, storytelling, listening, and creativity for social justice. He also serves as the Narrative Lead at IRIS (International Resource for Impact and Storytelling), a donor collaborative advancing narrative strategies for impact. Brett brings a powerful reframe for how we think about storytelling in organizations—and it's one that will completely reshape how you approach strategy, identity, and meaning-making on your team. Before my conversation with Brett, I was an enthusiastic promoter of individual storytelling in organizations. But Brett helped me see the limits of that approach and the need to move from me stories to we stories—from storytelling to storylistening.
