Star Wars Celebration Japan is in the books and to help break down all the fun, excitement and announcements, I invited two people who were glued to all the feeds the whole weekend and brought back plenty of good notes. Literally pages of good notes. A SUPERSIZED episode packed with tons of interviews with artists, authors, creators, cosplayers and collectors from the first day of C2E2 2025. This year the largest comic and pop culture convention in the region took place from April 11-13 at the McCormick Convention Center in downtown Chicago. With panels from such massive fandoms as the Lord of the Rings, and a reunion of the cast of the 80's movie The Breakfast Club, along with plenty of other celebrities on hand for autos and pictures, C2E2 was set to draw even larger crowds this year, as the numbers have been increasing exponentially since the close of the pandemic years where shows were postponed.I was able to talk with folks I knew and have had on the show before, and talk to a bunch of new creators and people who were ready to show their wares to the fans coming in. A big thanks to all who gave me some of their time and were so awesome to peel back some of the curtain on how things work if you are there to show off your work. Plus plenty of tips for you if you want to attend and check out some of the show areas.Check out the full list of people below and be sure to check out, like and subscribe their pages and social sites. They put a lot of hard work in to help make the fabric of the show so amazing.Once again the 501st, Mandalorian Mercs, Rebel Legion was part of the Family HQ block and had some great displays set up for folks to take pictures.Featured Guests:Daniel Govar - ArtistWebsite: https://www.danielgovar.comStore: https://danielgovar.bigcartel.com@saulone on Twitter@danielgovar on InstagramNick & Candace PobladorCNFactoryhttps://www.etsy.com/shop/cnfactoryOn Instagram @cnfactorychiBret JulianoArtist & Illustrator@dustbunnymahfia on IGbret@dustbunnymafia.comComics.dustbunny.comMikey BabinskiMikey Babinski @mikey_babinski on InstagramWSTR/BigTLilT Podcast @tizzzzod on Instagram, Twitter @WSTRmedia and @bigtliltpodcast WSTR/BigTLilT Podcast @tizzzzod on Instagram, Twitter @WSTRmedia and @bigtliltpodcast Todd HoffmanKarl Schmidt Joe BialekVictor @fandadsAshleigh poppellwellArturo Delgado@TuroseekerJavier Esqueda TK-265 @joliet_batmanShawn Mika @fettcicleKira Mashado @kirra_karabastNicole Markhenke Instagram @peacelovefandoms - @PL_Fandoms on X@red5readingBill & Celeste Hjelmgren https://www.nonsportcardshows.com/Karl Schmidt - Collector@pileo64 on InstagramJared Nielsen Ultraman Card Gamehttps://ultraman-cardgame.com/page/us/topChristopher Brimmage - AuthorMandrill, P.I.https://www.kickstarter.com/profile/brimmageAshleigh PopplewellArtist@ampopplewell on IGwww.ashleighpopplewell.comHomestead KeepingThe latest issue of (Apr/May 25) has a nice retrospective article on the Living Set, one year after the 500 card set came to a close. Dan Zehr returns to the program to discuss the recent announcement of the Saga Museum of Star Wars Collectibles by Rancho Obi-Wan at their fundraising event recently. The owners of the largest collection of Star Wars memorabilia aims to merge with other super collectors and create a dedicated space to house the combined collections which would operate as a museum. It would allow for more fans and visitors as well as offer educational programming. Their goal is to raise 2 million dollars in the next two years to achieve this goal. As collectors and some fans start to grow older, it does beg the question of what is to become of these collections and should they be in a proper museum? And what about our own collections. You may not have a cool name for your Star Wars room/shelf, but what would be your plans for your prized possessions, once you have grown past them, or they, you. Dan Zehr as you well know is the host of the popular Coffee with Kenobi podcast, which, along with its tie-in social media channels and the CWK Facebook group, has been talking Star Wars and fostering community for over 11 years. Tonight we have another artist spotlight. Robert Jimé on the show. He is a fantastic artist who has another set of pulp cover cards coming out in Star Wars Card Trader, and that is among the many other projects he is working on is . If you are on the socials you can find him and his work under the Zerostreet handle or if you go to zerostreet.shop online you can see a lot of his distinctive work. Considering that we are not too far from the release of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, his work on the pulp covers and his style fits in perfectly to the aesthetic. From His Bio: “Robert's imagination and desire to draw were first fueled by his frequent visits to the corner newsstand in his Brooklyn neighborhood to purchase comic books, especially those that featured the art of Neal Adams, George Perez, and Jim Aparo. Later, the films seen on local TV, everything from the comedies of Abbott & Costello and The Marx Brothers, B Monster movies, and especially the Planet of the Apes series, left a definite imprint in his work. Incorporating an ever-growing cast of Apes, Tikis, and appearances from the likes of Doc Savage, Tarzan, The Shadow, and more, he is creating a unique narrative through his paintings and sculptures. Robert's work has appeared on album covers for Gold Dust Lounge and Stolen Idols and in magazines such as Exotica Moderne, Tiki Magazine, PKD Otaku, Gnarly and Pinstriping & Kustom Graphics. His work is also featured in the books, THE THING:ARTBOOK, VISIONS FROM THE UPSIDE DOWN: STRANGER THINGS ARTBOOK, GHOSTBUSTERS: ARTBOOK and has shown in galleries including Disneyland's Wonderground, Harold Golen, M Modern, Creature Features, and Bear & Bird among others. You can also see Robert's work in trading card sets for licenses such as Garbage Pail Kids, Wacky Packages, Mars Attacks, Star Wars, DC Comics, Firefly, Ghostbusters, Adventure Time and more. Most notably Robert has recently illustrated cards for the Star Wars Trading Card App.” Speaking of Indy, I had a blast talking with Dan Zehr on Coffee with Kenobi about the Last Crusade as part of his series on the films leading up to the premiere. It was fun talking with him and Dennis Keithly from Podcast Stardust on that show. On Thursday May 21st, Topps' Star Wars Card Trader held a unique event, celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Empire Strikes Back by hosting a watch party in the app. Topps encouraged fans to cue up the movie at 5pm Eastern and dropped selected packs of cards that in some cases, coincided with the events happening on screen. Well, this is it. The last of the Skywalker saga has come and gone. We go over what the advance crowd-sourced info on Reddit got right (all of it), and wax poetic about our takes on what it all means as an end to a story that has had such an impact on our lives. We compare and contrast what's happening in Star Wars with what's happening in Star Trek, including hashing out the start of the Picard series. As far as Star Wars Card Trader, we're so far removed from it now that it doesn't seem to make sense to even pretend that's what this is about. So let us know if you still want to hear from us, and we'll see if we can't find something else for the "CT" in CT Illuminerdy to stand for. Thanks as always for listening!

It's been 4 years since the TOPPS Star Wars Card Trader app was unleashed upon the world. Since it's the reason we're here as a podcast, we give it its due. Rhett literally phones in the episode, accidentally doubling as our "from the WWII front lines" correspondent. We discuss cards that have been under represented in the app:- "Capes of Calrissian": when will we get this set?- Lack of baby Ewok cards: only seen in classic art that we could find.- Abandonment of Lott Dod base cards- Poggle rainbow check-in (spoiler: not going well)Other Star Wars things we're liking:- The two-foot Super Star Destroyer expansion for the Star Wars: Armada miniatures game- Hasbro's massive Jabba's Sail Barge- Michael shares how he was moved to tears by the new novel, Queen's Shadow. We conjecture the collective noun for a group of handmaiden ("tale").We also discover there are a lot of characters in the Star Wars universe that have double-g in their names.

Could Ahsoka Tano make an appearance in Star Wars Rebels during the series finale on Monday, March 5? I'm looking back at the 10-card Topps series from the Star Wars Card Trader app released in 2016, and discussed by Dave Filoni at Star Wars Celebration Europe. Ahsoka's fate after her showdown with Darth Vader in "Twilight of the Apprentice" was mysteriously hinted at in those cards. And after last week's "A World Between Worlds" episode of Rebels, we may now know more about her post-Vader-fight time than ever before. Punch it! ***I'm listener supported! Rhett forgot we were supposed to record. Tommy didn't know Michael was recording the conversation about Rhett forgetting. But even though only one of us was intentionally podcasting, we still had more actual Star Wars Card Trader discussion than there's been in who knows how long. The rest of the conversation centers around the Star Wars Celebration in Orlando this weekend. If you'll be there Friday, look out for a familiar aquatic mammal on a t-shirt. Enjoy, and we'll see you on the other side of the con!

Michael's back in the Star Wars Card Trader app, adding a thin veneer of legitimacy back to our podcast. Tommy spends hundreds of thousands and 30 packs to pull a Fans Choice (with a 0.12% chance of that happening, it's his luckiest pull in the app). Rhett is in awe of the amazing things people can do from watching "People are awesome" compilations on YouTube. We discuss Chuck Yeager and Harrison Ford's current flight careers. Rhett discusses his experience with the flight sim software Falcon 4.0 (37 minutes), and how it led him to dominating an Aviation Challenge camp, part of the Space Camp at Huntsville, AL, even heads-up against an experienced fighter pilot. Rhett did, however, lost to this 70-year-old veteran in a foot race. He also shares how another campers narcolepsy factored into his experience (45 minutes).
Nominations are up for Star Wars Podcast Awards! Nominate here!Michael still can't get logged back into Star Wars Card Trader, so he shares his experience with a game that he's tried in the mean time: Survive - Wilderness Survival. Who knew "Wilderness Simulation" was a genre? Also, we discuss what we'd do if we had unlimited money at our disposal. And as bonus, we dig into collective nouns, starting with Jedi: what should a group of them be called? A gullible? A blind?

Well it's been an interesting week in Star Wars Card Trader land, in that there hasn't been much interesting going on. At least, not if you like new inserts. We have had one new set, in the spirit of Halloween (is this a global holiday? Does this even make sense in most places outside of the US?).If you like base variants, though, there's been at least a little going on. Two new colors have been added to the rainbow. The 10 creatures that got their orange base variants, different of course from the orange cards we have a shot at after pulling green. And then there's the divisive Neon...ultra-rare at 5-count, and yet there's plenty to go around, and a guaranteed pull...if you pony up the cash. Here's the article mentioned during the discussion: Card Trader Digital's Much Ado About Neons. We wonder why checklists aren't there for every set with an award card, as soon as all cards in the set have dropped. In the meantime, we go over how to view a checklist for a particular set an parallel yourself, by filtering the Checklist view in your cards using precise search terms: Shorthand search terms.Did we miss anything? Get anything wrong? Let us know @CT_Illuminerdy!
Episode 12 Out of Space Games had the opportunity to demo an upcoming board game called Zephyr: Winds of Change from The Portal Dragon, and have plenty of thoughts and feedback, including a live session with one of the game's creators!
