For some fans of (American) Football, the Super Bowl is a major event. For some others, it's a chance to watch some unique commercials and movie trailer. For many, it's all about the HALFTIME SHOW! Needless to say, we're not the biggest fans of Football (or sports for that matter), but this Super Bowl held a bigger promise for us: a Big Game Spot for THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU, and a Halftime Show featuring Puerto Rican megastar BAD BUNNY!Some Star Wars and Puerto Rican culture, what could go wrong?With THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU release date only 3 months away, and it being the first Star Wars theatrical release since 2019, it seems that the marketing blitz for this film is...bizarre? Despite the Tauntauns, the hype for this film is somewhat lacking and we discuss all of it!In other Super Bowl news, after BAD BUNNY's show, the event is now called the BENITO BOWL. This performance was one of joy, love, and celebration of Puerto Rican and Latin culture, and as a Puerto Ricans this show was really transcendent and emotional. We discuss our reactions to this performance and the political connotations (and reactions) it presented. It's #StarWarsPodcastDay2026 and this year, This is the Way Podcast is talking about the leadership change at Lucasfilm.February 7th, 2026 marks the sixth anniversary for #SWPD, but it was 27 years ago when Jedi Talk began "audio blogging" with an internet radio show called Jedi Talk. Daniel C of Star Wars, Now This is Podcasting has been researching the beginnings of Star Wars podcasting and even though the first RSS fed shows didn't come out until later and the term "podcast" wasn't en vogue years after that, our research agrees that Jedi Talk seems to be the first to mass distribute their Star Wars centered show, thanks to internet hosting. As for This is the Way Podcast, we're at six years and counting and 213 episodes as of this special edition.This is still a mostly audio only version of a podcast, but as time has allowed, graphics and perhaps someday video will be added.
