First there was The Strangers, then there was The Strangers: Prey At Night... This one should've been The Strangers: Pray They Don't Do This Again. There's things to say about this, but they're not great.Enjoy, y'all.
Episode Notes Listen up Screwheads! In honor of The Strangers: Chapter 1 hitting theaters we're looking back at the sequel to the 2008 cult classic - The Strangers: Prey at Night. Another family, another stalking, another home invasion. With lots of 80s music for some reason. Find out more at https://primitivescrewheads.pinecast.co This podcast is powered by Pinecast.
It's been a while but we are back talking about the 2008 film The Strangers and its 2018 counterpart The Strangers Prey At Night.
“Why are you guys discussing The Strangers: Prey at Night (2018)?” ”Why not?” This pick definitely breaks the formula for our show, as it's sort of a home invasion thriller and is less than a decade old, but with the new Strangers prequel is coming out this weekend, we decided it was worth taking a stab at. Thankfully, our assumptions were correct and this movie is due way more praise within the genre than it got upon release! While it starts out as your run-of-the-mill home invasion, it quickly ramps up into wild meta-slasher territory and the ride is definitely worth the price of admission. Come with us to the trailer park and get revenge on the weirdos who hacked up our aunt and uncle on this week's episode! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Johannes Roberts came to the horror world's eyes with his breakout hit "The Expelled," (or "F" depending on when you saw it). Throughout his life, he has always been a big fan of horror and fantasy. In his teens, Roberts saw "Platoon" for the first time and it blew his mind and made him want to start making movies. Over the years he has crafted some solid pieces of films that will make you think twice about going into the ocean (if "Jaws" hasn't scared the sand out of you yet). The video game series, RESIDENT EVIL, may be one of the if not the most popular horror video game franchise of all time. Having eight official games, plus a number of spinoffs, the series has been one of the video game maker Capcom's biggest sellers. Soon a movie franchise was born starring Milla Jovovich which at first followed the game story line but soon later completely left its source material. In Q4 of 2021, the new film RESIDENT EVIL: WELCOME TO RACCOON CITY promised to get back to the origin of the story (as a prequel). Claire Redfield (Kaya Scodelario) returns to Raccoon City to rekindle her relationship with her brother Chris (Robbie Amell) as well as to dig into their history as orphans. When residents begin to start acting strangely and the Umbrella Corporation, the biggest city's employer, locks down the city. Claire, among the local police force, are locked in and have to find out what is going on and how to get out. The film is directed and written by Johannes Roberts, known for such films as 47 METERS DOWN (2017), 47 METERS DOWN: UNCAGED (2019) and THE STRANGERS: PREY AT NIGHT (2018). The film stars Kaya Scodelario, Tom Hooper, Neal McDonough, Avan Jogia, among others. Dark Discussions Podcast takes a look at this new film in the series franchise and gives their thoughts.
T takes a look at an early 2000s slasher that actually tries to put a positive spin for once on promiscuous teens with "Cherry Falls". He then takes a look at The Strangers: Prey At Night, does this sequel set itself apart from the original?
Scotty is back with another episode of Slasher Scotty and his guest was Jeff Descoteaux, who played Marcus in Wolf Hollow. Jeff discusses with Scotty what it was like to film a scene with Kane Hodder, how it is challenging to change his accent for film projects, how he got his start in acting with Damian Maffei from The Strangers: Prey At Night, and much, much more. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/slasherscotty/support

Following up on last week's episode, we bring to you the sequel, released 10 years after its original, The Strangers: Prey At Night. Jordan claims this is the movie he'd make, while the first is the movie I'd make. Listen to how we feel about the kind of movie Jordan would make.
On today's Daily Devolution we break down The Strangers: Prey At Night (***SPOILERS***)
"The Strangers" was a nightmarish home invasion film that scarred a legion of viewers with its brutality and realism. "The Strangers: Prey At Night" is an eccentric homage to 80s horror that aims for something more off-kilter. Emma and Will discuss if either works as intended.
Good Horror Sequel month continues as we move on to The Strangers: Prey At Night, the 2018 sequel to The Strangers that was 10 years in the making. Why is even 15 minutes of character building just not necessary in this movie? Why is it more thrilling to see the scare before the characters on screen? Are the leads in this movie actually named Boy and Girl? Did we create the ultimate backstory of the Strangers, and why does it involve the Postal Service? Do you really need anything other than the pool scene to be sold on this movie? Is Tamara home yet? And how many endings is too many? Crank up that peppy 80s soundtrack for the recap to the forgotten sequel that needs a little more love. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
