Deciding on a movie to watch is tough. It's even tougher when your girlfriend is from another country and doesn't know about classic films of America. Join us weekly as Chris introduces Miriam to another classic movie, doing deep research into the films we love. (Note: Not all films will be American, or classics). Original theme music by Nick Montalvo
It's been 23 years since 28 Days Later and 18 years since 28 Weeks Later; does the franchise have anything left in it? Well, I thought so!Instead of a zombie flick, writer Alex Garland crafted a very in-depth look at the rite of passage in society and having to do the right thing even when you're not old enough to comprehend what that means. I bet you didn't see that coming! If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. I do free movie giveaways, mini movie reviews and more! Also, I decided to dabble in making my own slasher film entitled “Bishop's Day”. Check out the Instagram page for updates.
Welcome to the mini pods, where it's just me (Chris) talking about my thoughts on a new movie. Usually the pods have more in-depth research, these are more just like me and minor research.Karate Kid is back and more kung fu-er than ever! Why is this about kung fu and not karate? Well .. you saw the remake, yeah? Anyways, kind of a strange installment in the Kid franchise that doesn't really use the characters as much as they should and really doesn't explore the big tournament like one would expect. The love interest is there, as well as her dad, a tutor and a pizza shop. Although I love seeing Jackie Chan and anything Karate Kid related, this movie left me empty and confused. If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. I do free movie giveaways, mini movie reviews and more! Also, I decided to dabble in making my own slasher film entitled “Bishop's Day”. Check out the Instagram page for updates.
It's been 14 years since the last Final Destination flick and does this franchise still have life left? Are the deaths as gross and fun as before or did we finally reach our destination? Well, I really liked it and think everyone who wants to relax and have a fun time at the theaters (how long has it been since we did that?) to go see Final Destination: Bloodlines as soon as possible! Buy popcorn, soda, chuckles, enjoy yourself! If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. The 90's were such a wonderful time for horror. 1996 In particular really kickstarted a new wave of horror, especially the rebirth of slashers. Yes, we all know Scream but there was firehose of teens getting butchered in the late 90's to 2000's and Urban Legend was one of the most memorable ones starring a who's who of teen icons! Friend of the pod (and good friend of mine) Clay joins me to discuss real Urban Legends, working on film sets, other movies and so very much more! If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. I do free movie giveaways, mini movie reviews and more! The Surfer is one of those movies that comes around once in a few years that seems like it is a basic thriller but has so much more going on. Straight out of Dublin, Ireland, Director Lorcan Finnegan and writer Thomas Martin craft a thriller that moves towards midnight dark comedy about The Surfer (Nicolas Cage) who desperately wants to buy his childhood home on a beach in Australia. Locals aren't thrilled about this and thus the psychedelic deep search for sanity begins. I loved it and am encouraging everyone to see it as soon as they can. If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. I do free movie giveaways, mini movie reviews and more! Also, I decided to dabble in making my own slasher film entitled “Bishop's Day”. Check out the Instagram page for updates.
Frequent guest and friend of the pod, Ryan "Burger" McCurdy wrote and directed a wonderful throwback to detective flicks called “Pears”. The movie was made in his hometown in Evansville, Indiana and I loved it! To celebrate it's release on Tubi, I had Burger back on the pod to chat about the making of it. Per usual, we talk about everything and anything and Burger gives an in-depth look at indie filmmaking. If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. Stanford teacher Shannon Pufhal's debut novel about 1950's America and the restraints on being gay was raved in the LA Times as being “a remarkable spell. [She] embraces noir's mood while weaving in a love story,” by Mark Athitakis. Other reviewers found the novel so boring and bland they had to read the bulk of it in one sitting because they couldn't fathom picking it up again. The movie version lies somewhere in the middle. I felt the characters had no arcs, motivations were out the window and when things go bad, the response is “What can I do? Amiright?” However, the costumes were amazing and it had decent acting, given the dialogue was all over the place.“Horses” is a film that wants to explore the restrictions of being gay in a straight, conservative world, but feels more like a hangout flick where the characters rarely come in conflict. They never come to a conclusion, or if they do, it doesn't make sense. If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. I do free movie giveaways, mini movie reviews and more! Also, I decided to dabble in making my own slasher film entitled “Bishop's Day”. Check out the Instagram page for updates.
Christopher Landon's latest flick is the trailer you've seen if you've been to the theaters in the last month. In fact, the running joke on Reddit is the trailer for Drop should show before the actual movie that way we can get the full circle experience. I'm not going to lie: I was pretty convinced the movie either: A) Didn't exist or B) Was a real stinker. Turns out I was wrong on both counts!Since this is a mini pod, the episode is me talking about my thoughts on the film and doing some light info with ciritic reviews. I felt like doing these, because there were certain movies I would watch and deem them necessary of having more than just a written review. Enjoy! If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. I do free movie giveaways, mini movie reviews and more! A few months ago, I interviewed Nick Roth about his horror comedy “Hanky Panky” and for 4/20 this year, they're doing a campaign every day of the week to promote it. To help out, I'm re-releasing our interview!Tune in as California State University Northridge film professor and filmmaker, Nick Roth and I talk filming in China, silent movies , what does “favorite movie” mean (which is part of his teachings at CSNU) and so much more! Nick truly was a fun guest and I'm looking forward to having him back!Check out Hanky Panky on Tubi.If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. The movie that is making some noise at the indie level is about the scandal that rocked 1984: Michael Larson took on Press Your Luck and walked away with $110,237 (roughly $339,000) in cash and prizes! Although the movie has a fun idea, there really isn't enough meat on the bones of this, but I still wanted to talk about it. Join in the fun as I talk about 1984, the culture of the time and what led to Larson never landing on the dreaded whammy in his 47 spins! If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. Magazine Dreams is the movie that you've likely never heard of but should watch. Way back in 2023, Jonathan Majors put his heart into a performance and very soon after its premiere, it was discovered that Majors was abusing his girlfriend. Dreams was quietly shoved to the side, and given back to the filmmakers, however, it was released to the public and I thought it was really good. So good, it deserved its own mini review!Despite what he was convicted of, there's no denying that Majors gave an oscar-caliber performance as Killian Maddox, a young man who has severe mental disorders, outbursts of rage but has the dream of being the bodybuilder that everyone idolizes. He fashions himself after Brad Vanderhorn (four-time Mr. Universe, Micheal O'Hearn) pushes his mind and body to the breaking point but still believes he is going to make it. The movie is a dissent into Maddox's insanity and what it means to shoot for your dreams when you really don't understand the world you're in. I really liked this movie and yeah, it has issues, but overall it's the best movie in theaters right now and I encourage everyone to check it out.
Last time I talked with indie filmmaker James Edwards (“Her Name is Christa”) he said Trivial was in production hell. Well, he finished it and it's now making the rounds to various festivals and I was blessed enough to check it out! I always love talking with film nerds, so having James back (and will gladly have him back anytime) was a no-brainer. Trivial was a great horror flick with a bar trivia twist with grisly special effects and fun characters. Also, I decided to dabble in making my own slasher film entitled “Bishop's Day”. Check out the Instagram page for updates.
As crazy as it may sound, Snow White is the most controversial movie of the year. It's been getting a lof of bad press, bad feedback and so far not doing so well at the box office. I wasted no time going to the theater to check it out and give my thoughts. Since this is part of my mini pod episodes, these will be less indepth and more of a review. Is Snow White good? Is it bad? Did they at least leave the poisoned apple in?? Tune in to find out. If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. I do free movie giveaways, mini movie reviews and more! Also, I decided to dabble in making my own slasher film entitled “Bishop's Day”. Check out the Instagram page for updates.
After writing out some of my reviews on Instagram, I felt that some movies deserved a longer conversation, so I gave it one! These are the mini episodes, mainly focussed on new (or at least released in the last few months) that I would normally write about, but felt like talking about. These pods won't be as long or have as much info as the larger episodes, but you'll get my opinion on them and a little background. Opus hit theaters March 14th, and I checked out the thriller from A24. The lackluster reviews don't make the film seem promising, but it does have a nice "celebrity cult vs investigative journalist" feel to it. I tried my best not to spoil it.If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. I do free movie giveaways, mini movie reviews and more! Kashmiri filmmaker Arfat Sheikh began his long career at the age of 16 as a radio jockey for Radio Kashmir. Because he could speak English, this opened doors for him to pursue narration and film. Over many years this led him to Atlanta, to make Saffron Kingdom, a film that brought to light major issues that occurred in Kashmir. Although I worked on the movie, like most Americans, I had never heard of Kashmir. This is one of the most informative interviews I've ever done, and I was thrilled to have Arfat tell me about a culture that I didn't know existed. List time I spoke with Austin, we were discussing his awesome throwback film “Exposure.” This time we're talking about his super cool western grind house homage, “They Call Her Death.” His passion and love for cinema is so strong, you can literally feel the labor of love for this. Much like his first film: I loved it and I was super pumped to bring Austin back on to chat about movies, formats and more!If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. Garrett Batty has had a life long love of filmmaking. Starting literally as far back as he can remember. Growing up in Park City, UT, he was exposed to all the classics like “Star Wars” “Back to the Future” and “Indiana Jones” and he wanted to do that. In 2009 he finally got the chance to make his dreams come true with the low budget “Scout Camp” and he never looked back. Creating his own style of faith-based films, Batty crafted some seriously good movies that don't come off religious but more as a good movie with a good story. His latest film “Faith of Angels” had me intrigued with the unbelievable storyline, fantastic acting and sharp directing style that made hooked from the start. Along with Batty, I got the chance to interview Joshua Dennis, the boy (now a man) who gets lost in a cave, presumed dead and miraculously is found! I loved the movie and I'm looking forward to seeing more of Batty's work in the future. If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. More drinking, more stories! Drew is back for the epic conclusion to our deep dive into “Fight Club' with beer”: “Beerfest.” We both had a lot to talk about with this one, so join us for the history of beer, which country drinks the most beer and the German purity Law, which is the law Germany set in 1516 and still in practice today. Fun fact: the first ever recorded recipe was beer!If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. I had so much fun having Drew Whitehouse on the pod to talk about “The Gift,” and I knew I had to have him back. Somehow we came up with talking about one of the best films involving beer drinking: Beerfest! Join us as we talk about the origins of the flick, beer drinking stories and more. We had so much fun drinking and talking, I made this a two-parter. There is more to this movie than just drinking and frat boy jokes and we dive into all of it. Cheers! If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. I do free movie giveaways, mini movie reviews and more! Ho ho ho! Welcome to the Christmas episode! While watching movie reviews on YouTube, I stumbled across Mad Blood. Immediately, I loved how casual, yet informative Matt, the host, was. He does tons of reviews, rankings and is just generally fun to listen to! So I hit him up asking if he would like to come on the pod to talk about our personal favorite Christmas movies, and he said he'd be there faster than you could say "Rudolph." So kick back with some roasted chestnuts, grab a mug of Glühwein and relax as Matt and I do deep dives into our favorite Christmas movies and more. When you're finished, please check out Mad Blood and SixMacsTV. I guarantee you'll love his show. Check him out on X, Instagram and Youtube! If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. More thoughts on “The Ninth Gate.” Ryan McCurdy and I had way too much information on the 2000 classic thriller. As we come got the conclusion, McCurdy talks about movies involving the devil in a term he calls “Satan Cinema.” We do a deep discussion on the very confusing ending in the movie vs the cut-and-dry ending in the book.If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. A lot of the times before I record a pod my friends and I will talk in general and not just the movie we're recording. Usually when this happens, it's 5-10 mins loosening up and then we jump into the pod, but good friend of mine and frequent guest, Ryan “Burger” McCurdy (of “Ranked”) were about to record “The Ninth Gate,” and the conversation was so good I made it an episode! We talk about working in film, my thoughts on the Rock Star Filmmaker, current and future filmmaking and more.If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. I do free movie giveaways, mini movie reviews and more! Also, I decided to dabble in making my own slasher film entitled “Bishop's Day”. Check out the Instagram page for updates.
Is this a horror film or Is it crime noir with spiritual elements? Ryan “Burger” McCurdy of the Ranked podcast is back to discuss the 1999 supernatural spiritual flick that was released right before Johnny Depp's career exploded. I had the chance to listen to the audiobook this is based on and we do comparisons between the two and so much more! Per usual, Burger brings the facts and he and I had more information to talk about than the average podcast, and this is a two-parter.If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. I do free movie giveaways, mini movie reviews and more! Also, I decided to dabble in making my own slasher film entitled “Bishop's Day”. Check out the Instagram page for updates!
Actor turned filmmaker, David Andrew James (who shares a striking resemblence to Shia LaBeouf) has been making a lot of noise in the horror world with his film “Bag of Lies”. The simplicity of the film and relatable storyline really packed a punch on me and I had to have him on the pod to hear how it all began! If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. I do free movie giveaways, mini movie reviews and more! Also, I decided to dabble in making my own slasher film entitled “Bishop's Day”. Check out the Instagram page for updates!
I've known filmmaker Michael Ciminna for a number of years and I always wanted to bring him on the pod but our schedules never lined up. This Halloween he's releasing a great proof of concept film called “Jack's Lantern” about a young boy who believes his jack-o-lanterns can come to life. We talk about growing up and riding bikes, making movies and more!Check out “Jack's Lantern” streaming on YouTube and Vimeo! While you're there, check out Ciminna's other film, “By The Campfire,” a great psychological thriller short. Welcome to "Cult Classics with Chris," the podcast within "Classic American Movies" where I will interview cult filmmakers. This time I'm talking with William Malone. There is a 100% chance you've seen his work: he designed masks (creating the Michael Myers' mask), he's made many fun horror films for over 40 years including Tales From the Crypt episodes, movies and more!I've been a big fan of Malone's since I first saw his 1999 remake of “House on Haunted Hill” (as discussed in Miriam and my's episode) and finally getting a chance to sit down and talk with him was a lot of fun. From start to finish, he truly was inspiring to talk to and offered a lot of knowledge on films as well as cracking a lot of jokes. A wonderful class act of a man. Please check out his YouTube channel, Undertaking Cinema where William discusses all things cinema! If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. I do free movie giveaways, mini movie reviews and more! Also, I decided to write and direct my first slasher flick, called "Bishop's Day"! Check out the Instagram page for updates.
One of the big reasons I love having Ryan on the pod is that he always brings a lot of information and knows how to use it. We do a deeper talk on this cult classic as well as talk about what the dark web actually is. This episode packs a lot of information that the average person doesn't know about the internet. Remeber to check out Videodrome to rent this flick as well as many other 2000's horror classics! If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. I do free movie giveaways, mini movie reviews and more!Be on the lookout for an indie slasher that I'm making called "Bishop's Day." Check out the instgram page for updates!
One of the more popular episodes I have done was the snippets of stuff I talk about with my guest hosts, in which I call bs'ing. There's no hot takes or anything controversial, this is literally what it's like to hang out with me and my friends. We talk movies, LOTR (shocking) and more movies! If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. I do free movie giveaways, mini movie reviews and more!Be on the lookout for "Bishop's Day", a proof of concept film I wrote and will be directing. It's "Friday the 13th", "Scream" and "Valentine" in one fun, violent slasher!
What do you do about the title of your movie when the person who owns the internet domain won't sell? Well, you add “Dotcom” to your title!Ryan McCurdy (of the Ranked) podcast is back to talk about a flick I still have the ticket for after seeing it in theaters 22 years ago! At the time, the internet was pretty unknown to the general public and the first thing filmmakers did was make a horror movie about it! I saw "feardotcom" when I was 18 and didn't think about it since then. However, much like “Gothika,” I kept seeing the DVD at the Goodwill and thought it was time to talk about this nostalgic internet killer thriller. As usual, Ryan and I can't stop talking and this episode became a two-parter. I loved this movie after rewatching it and after finding out Videodrome didn't have it to rent, I gave them my copy!If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. I do free movie giveaways, movie reviews and more!
Straight out of out the Appalachia Mountains in North Carolina, friend of mine Keaton Lange has been writing and creating music for over 20 years. Being a natural story teller, his lyrics paint a wonderful picture on a canvas of folk music that is a true gem to listen to. I've been wanting to bring him on the pod for awhile and with the release of his second EP, “The Runaway,” I couldn't think of a better time. I was thrilled to finally sit down and talk with him about his lyrics, inspirations and life. Keaton has a live performance this Saturday, August 31st at the PYK Gallery in Atlanta. Doors open at 7pm. Click the link for tickets! If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. Last time we saw Ziggy, we were talking about the Tarantino-inspired crime thriller “Suicide Kings.” This episode was supposed to recorded months prior to us actually recording it, but many circumstances prevented Zig and I from recording.“Soul Survivors,” is arguably the most complex college-aged horror film of the 2000's, and I've seen most of them. An-all star cast (before they became massive names), when they were all working on their craft shine in this often looked-over flick. The pod, much like the movie, was all over the place and I was thrilled to have Zig with me to on this journey! If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. I do free movie giveaways, mini movie reviews and more!
Arguably the best thriller in recent years, 2015's “The Gift” rocked audiences and certified Joel Edgerton as a serious writer/director. Also, Drew Whitehouse, an old friend of mine hadn't seen it and was looking for a David Fincher style film. So I brought him on the pod to talk abbot what he thought of it.Join us as we talk about movies, character development and we reflect on how we were in high school. Magician, cigar aficionado, horror filmmaker. Billy Chase Goforth is an up-and-coming filmmaker that has been making a lot of noise online with his flick, “Door in the Woods” Billy isn't just a one trick guy, he has his hands on just about everything and I was glad to have him on the show to talk about his many talents! In 2003, Dark Castle was almost on its way out. Sadly, they came in with a fiery presence and quietly exited. “Gothic,” which was made hot off of Halle Berry winning her Oscar, and when Robert Downey Jr was doing any movie the was handed to him. With a stellar cast, solid writer, director and cinematographer, has this movie stayed for the test of time? Join friend of the pod, Farmer and I as we do a deep discussion on this film that has been making its way back into the world's streaming devices. If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. I do free movie giveaways, mini movie reviews and more!
Nick Roth comes from a filmmaking family and did a “blood oath” to not pursue that path, until he went with his father to China to make one wild crazy flick in 2013 called “Chronicles of the Ghostly Tribe”. The movie was a nightmare to shoot, but it jumpstarted Nick's interested and drove him to become a film professor at Cal State Northridge as an adjunct professor in cinema studies and eventually leading to his own film, “Hanky Panky,” a horror comedy about a man and his napkin friend saving the world from a dark evil in a cabin. If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. All my life, at least as far back as seeing “Batman” in 1989, some of my favorite memories were spent in theaters. I can still remember the way most of them looked, smelled, the popcorn, soda … I love it! So when the idea of this pod about my favorite times at the theater came up, I immediately thought of Mark from Movies, Films and Flix to talk about his favorite times. Together, we discuss movies, working and so much more! If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Facebook and Instagram. Ryan McCurdy (of the Ranked Podcast) is back to wrap up Rob Zombie's unplanned trilogy with “3 From Hell.” This was arguably the movie with the most positive reviews of Zombie's career. Join us as we discuss the unusual profits of this flick, the day by day production, shooting in bad weather and so much more! Burger and I both know someone who worked on this, so we got to add a personal touch to it! Make sure to check out the Ranked podcast, found wherever you find finer podcasts. I was surprised that my last BS episode was a big hit, so I figured I would make another one! This time, I made it a little more focused: My friends and I speak candidly about shock cinema; why I don't have a Netflix account and Farmer tells the story about her first time on a film set.If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Facebook and Instagram. Caleb has been making movies for the last few years and made a big splash with his horror short “The Other Side of the Box.” I loved it and LOVE his follow up “Play Me”. Both films display true filmmaking talent and suspensful terror. Super thrilled to sit down for a little bit and chat to this up-and-coming filmmaker about where it started, how it's going and where it's headed to.Like the show? Burger brings the lettuce to talk more on “The Devil's Rejects.” One of the reasons why I love having the Ranked co-star on my show is that he comes overly prepared and has a lot to talk about, which is why we usually have two-part episodes. We both loved the music so much on this we did a top 5 music in movies ranking, hangout movies, B-movies and more!If you're not doing so already, check out Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. Documentary filmmaker, Alexandre Phillippe is coming out with a fresh look at William Shatner called “You Can Call Me Bill,” which is been released March 22nd nationwide. More hot Rob Zombie talk! Ryan McCurdy (of the Ranked Podcast) joins me to discuss the sequel that was never planned or meant to happen! Quite possibly one of the most recognizable names ever, Alex Cox joins me to talk about his iconic career, spanning over four decades. After realizing being an actor wasn't in the cards, Alex decided to move to production (which was unpopular at the time) and has been making beautiful films since. "Repo Man," "Sid and Nancy," and "Straight to Hell," are just some of his iconic masterpieces. We talk about his early life, inspirations and his latest (as of the recording) movie “Tombstone Rashomon,” which is a retelling of the famous gunfight at the OK Corral, but from everyone's perspective. If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Facebook and Instagram. Every once in a while I'll allow friends to pick a movie to research for the podcast. Baroque has been asking to do this flick for sometime now and I finally broke down and said yes. We both do a deep dive in the history of D, Jack Black as The Genie in the live action “Aladdin” franchises and more! Tenacious D really isn't my thing, but I was glad to have finally watched this flick and it's obvious why “Destiny” has become a cult classic over the years. If you're not doing so already, please follow and like Classic American Movies on Facebook and Instagram. When I record a podcast, the majority of the time, I'll have the mics on and I'll chat with my guests for awhile about anything. I like to do this to loosen them up, feel at home and generally welcomed. Being on a podcast can be nerve racking and the last thing you want to do is sound stupid or come off in the wrong light. So, what I have here is a compilation of clips from various guests that have come over and we talked. Not always about movies, but overall it was fun and interesting to re-listen to some of these forgotten gems.
Channeling the energy of creative geniuses like Sean Cunningham and Al Adamson, Baltimore indie filmmaker Shawn Wright is bringing back the sleazy gory horror films of yore with his production company FaceMelt Features. His first feature, “Night of the Axe” was a fun throwback to the 80's slasher and his follow up “Spirit Board” (based on the Ouija horror films) is currently in preproduction. After chatting with Shawn, it's very clear he has a promising future in horror films and I'm looking forward to seeing more of his work.To support Shawn's movies, or to check them out, visit www.facemeltfeatures.com If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Facebook and Instagram . I do a lot of appreciation posts, movie reviews and free film giveaways!
Since seeing the advertisement for this flick in the late 90's, I've always loved it! The ultimate throwback horror film for horror nerds. Jessica (from the “Ghosts of Appalachia” Halloween special) joins me to talk about one of the most memorable movies that kicked off Rob Zombie's other career. We both did a lot of research and had a blast chatting about one of the grimiest, dirtiest violent flicks to hit 2003.If you're not doing so already, check out Classic American Movies on Facebook and Instagram. More Tarantino-inspired 90's flicks! Ryan Dambro (from the “Killdozer!” episode) is back to talk about the last movie Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert gave their iconic “Two Thumbs up” rating, the drug-infused fllm based on the book by Eddie Little (outlaw writer)! Dambro and I dive deep into outlaw filmmaking, Larry Clark and what if different actors were chosen for this late 90's cult classic. We're kicking the new year off with the movie that has explosions, stunts on stunts and as much fun as you would expect from Hall Needham and Burt Reynolds in the late 70's!Friend of mine and fan of the pod, Cole was talking to me one day and was looking for a film recommendation. I asked what kinds of movies he liked. Action comedies with killer stunts ( I mean who doesn't love that?) came up. You can't go much further then the classic “Hooper” with a wonderful love letter to the stunt and film world from the legend himself, Hal Needham, when he and Burt Reynolds were at the height of their powers. So I brought Cole on the show to talk about it. Turns out he's a huge Jan Micheal Vincent fan, so not only was this such a treat to watch, but a blast to research.
