Synopsis Honestly if you don't know what Frankenstein is about, I don't know why you're listening to a horror movie podcast. Review I heard a lot of mixed reviews about this, but I tried to stay away from as many spoilers as possible, as if this story could really be spoiled. Del Toro does add some new elements to the classic tale, some might say maybe too many new elements. Some might say that. I'm not saying it. But some might. It is kind of long. This movie is beautifully shot, albeit sometimes you can tell it was Made For Streaming (cough cough why is the sunlight in my face cough cough), but for the most part it's colorful, playful, and imaginative, with backdrops and settings that match the incredible costumes. Mia Goth looks ethereal in all of her elaborate gowns, veils, and feathers. Her wedding dress deserves its own moment of silence. The bandaged look around her arms? So major. The costumes tell their own stories, and they do a wonderful job at that. Oscar Isaac gets hotter every time I see him in a movie. Don't know how he manages that but he manages it well. Even though he's pretty evil in this he still looks good. Jacob Elordi does an amazing job as the Creature, he proves himself time and time again, with physical and emotional acting. He captivates and intrigues. He shines.The story is good, it is a bit hammed up at times and Del Toro is quite heavy handed; so much so that it feels like being hit in the head with a hammer. Yes, I understand the story you're trying to tell Mr. Del Toro, thank you for making sure I do. Also not a big fan of the narration aspect, don't think it added much to the story. I really could have done without the Danish sailors in their entirety and this would have been a lot better. Christoph Waltz was a pleasant surprise, although his character has little to no narrative impact. I always enjoy seeing him on screen but I felt as though he was a little pointless. All in all I really had a good time watching this. It's compelling, emotional, gorgeous, and thrilling. And God Damn You Netflix For A Limited Theatrical Release. Score 8/10

Oscar Isaac plays Dr. Victor Frankenstein, Mia Goth is Elizabeth, Christoph Waltz as Harlander and Charles Dance as Leopold Frankenstein. This version of the classic tale introduces us to Victor Frankenstein as a young boy to begin to explain his mad ambitions, then onto his creation of The Creature and then the aftermath. Entre los protagonistas de la gala, hemos recogido el testimonio de la actriz y directora Marta Nieto, reconocida con el Premio Trayectoria Joven, y con uno de los grandes nombres del cine español actual: Aitor Arregi. Codirector de Handia, La trinchera infinita, Marcop o la reciente Maspalomas, Arregi nos regala una entrevista personal y cinéfila en la que repasa su visión del cine, su conexión con los Moriarti y el proceso creativo que les ha permitido sacar adelante algunos de los títulos más interesantes y premiados del reciente cine español. Con una puesta en escena sobria y un elenco en estado de gracia, Los domingos confirma el talento de Ruiz de Azúa para explorar las zonas más íntimas del ser humano y el peso de las decisiones que nos definen. Min 30: DECORADO (3,5 estrellas) En Decorado, Alberto Vázquez despliega su universo gráfico para construir una fábula ácida sobre la libertad, la alienación y el coste de existir en una sociedad que ya parece diseñada. El protagonista, Arnold, un ratón de mediana edad atrapado en el paro y en un matrimonio desmoronado, empieza a sospechar que su entorno —su trabajo, su hogar, su ciudad— no es otra cosa que un decorado fabricado por la gran corporación ALMA. Con una estética que evoca los dibujos clásicos de animación y un guion que bebe del surrealismo y la sátira social, la película mezcla humor negro, drama existencial y críticas al capitalismo, la hiperconectividad y los mecanismos que moldan nuestras vidas. Min 39: FRANKENSTEIN (4,5 estrellas) En Frankenstein (2025), Guillermo del Toro se enfrenta al mito universal de Mary Shelley con la solemnidad de un artista que ha esperado décadas por este proyecto. Mia Goth is the latest actor shedding a bit of light on the long-shelved Blade movie from Marvel Studios. In an interview with Elle, promoting her upcoming appearance in Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein, Goth shared only that she is still attached to the film and commented that “It's for the best that it's taken the time it has. They want to do it right.” This is in line with Kevin Feige's comments this summer that the film is still moving forward.In an interview with the AP this week, Adam Driver dropped some major information about the Ben Solo movie in Star Wars that never was. Driver explained that Lucasfilm was interested in continuing his character's story in a film that had a script written by Steven Soderbergh. Driver was supportive of the script and the creative team took it to Bob Iger and Alan Bergman at Disney who turned the project down as they “didn't see how Ben Solo was alive.” Fan favorites Amber Midthunder and Walton Goggins will star in a new action movie from the creator of the John Wick franchise. The film, called Painter, has a major executive producer credit - with Avatar and Titanic director James Cameron serving in that role. Stunt coordinator Garrett Warren, who worked with Cameron on the last two Avatars as well as Logan and the Road House reboot, is directing the movie; a debut effort.
