Teens headed to a football game find themselves holed up in an almost abandoned town with an odd wax museum. It's the 300th episode and to cap off Mike G's Wet Dream Month, we are discussing House of Wax. This movie is a loose remake of House of Wax from 1953 and that movie is a remake of Mystery of the Wax Museum from 1933. As a movie that often gets some hate, we've always said it's one of the more underrated horror movies from the 2000s with a fun cast of Chad Michael Murray, Elisha Cuthbert, Jared Padalecki, Paris Hilton, and Robert Ri'chard. While it has some plot holes, it really delivers on everything 2000s horror had to offer and never ceases to entertain us. After a young girl discovers a mysterious box that is able to grant wishes, she starts to experience deadly consequences at the cost of fulfilling her desires.Wish Upon is a guilty pleasure teen horror movie that we have spoken about quite a bit and are happy to discuss it. While it's not a perfect movie and has a lot of plot holes, it's a fun time with classic horror cliches, crazy kills, and even more nonsensical character decisions. It offers up the intriguing premise of what a young high school teenager would be willing to give up and how far they would go to have their wishes granted, with some unexpected turns. A group of friends start receiving voicemails from their future selves just moments prior to their deaths and then they start to die one after another. One Missed Call is the remake of a 2003 Japanese horror movie from director Takashi Miike and after watching this movie again, we come to the same conclusion. This movie has an interesting concept, but poor execution with a convoluted storyline, plots that lead nowhere, characters that are either developed badly or don't serve a purpose, and cringeworthy CGI. Multiple viewings of this movie haven't changed our opinion over the years and while it has a similar feel to movies like Final Destination, The Ring, and Feardotcom where there's a countdown to death, this film fails to deliver on an interesting premise. Send us a textIn this episode: Christi and Angela discuss the crucial role of safety and culture in the construction industry. They highlight how companies like Brasfield & Gory, Holder Construction, DPR Construction, Skanska, and others are transforming safety from mere compliance to a core value integrated into their operations. Through methods like micro-learning, mentorship, and the use of advanced PPE, these firms are fostering environments where safety is a shared responsibility from executives to new hires. Special guest Kate Badey, President and CEO of Safety Consultants USA, shares insights on how cultivating a safety culture can become a competitive advantage. The episode also touches on the importance of proper fitting PPE, the integration of heat illness prevention measures, and the increasing role of dedicated safety leadership.Sponsored by: NPKSupport the show
Two high school friends crash a Y2K party in the hopes of getting laid, but as midnight arrives, the night takes another direction in the form of a computer assimilation plot.Y2K is a late 90s nostalgia trip, bringing us back to when we remember hearing about a technological apocalypse in the new millennium. This film explores the idea of computers taking humans over, leaving it up to high school kids at a party to save each other. This movie features coming-of-age elements as well as silly jokes with nostalgia often being forced in just in case anyone forgot when the movie was taking place. While we had mixed feelings about this one, it's definitely a movie that captured our generation and a conspiracy we lived through. A dark and twisted spin on everyone's favorite holidays in an anthology exploring traditions and what we've come to know and love.Holidays is a horror anthology that tells 8 tales based on several popular holidays including Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Halloween, Christmas, and New Year's Day. This film has a strong director lineup including stories from Kevin Smith, Adam Egypt Mortimer, Dennis Widmyer, and Scott Stewart among others, as well as some surprise acting appearances from Seth Green, Harley Morenstein, Sheila Vand, and Lorenza Izzo. While the movie had an interesting theme and some standout stories, it's a mixed bag with half of the stories unable to deliver and lacked a wrap around. Two children stay at their family cabin along with their father's girlfriend during a snowstorm. Tensions heighten when odd events occur which shakes their troubled relationship. The Lodge is a heavy movie that explores grief, loneliness, and guilt set in an isolated cabin in the middle of a snowstorm and delves into how these complex emotions can affect an already fragile relationship. The acting is great in this movie especially from Riley Keough, who plays Grace, a lone death cult survivor, who is trying to rebuild her life, but dealing with the lasting impact of her past. Shane's brother and frequent guest, Nick Smith, joins us to discuss how this movie creates a bleak atmosphere, builds tension, and delivers strong twists. A cloaked man pays Diane and her family a visit on Christmas Day and he ensures this is a Christmas they'll never forget. Every once in a while, there comes along a movie that has such a bizarre plot, you can't help, but watch it for the craziness. Red Christmas is not only a holiday horror movie, but it also has one of the weirdest, most insane slasher backstories we've ever heard of. In this movie, a cloaked man stalks a family during Christmas, however, the storyline is that he is an abortion survivor come back for the love of his mother. When the family doesn't accept him and throws him out of the house, he starts killing off the family one by one. While the movie has some bloody kills, it's the mess that we expected. Killer toys, programmed by an older toymaker who works along with his son, are designed to kill children.Silent Night, Deadly Night 5: The Toy Maker may be even more bizarre to watch than the last Silent, Deadly Night movie if it's possible. In a series with little to no continuity or identify, this installment features a drunken, elderly toymaker making toys programmed to kill children. A young boy appears to be the next target after the boy's father dies mysteriously from a toy left at their doorstep, and the event renders the boy mute. This movie is very fun to watch and has so many crazy storylines converging that are hard to make sense of. It all leads up to a few twists towards the end of the movie that are absolutely insane. While we have different opinions of this movie, we all agree it's very entertaining. After Winnie, puts an end to a killer in her town, life is meaningless. When she wishes she wasn't born under the aurora, she's transported to a parallel universe where life is going on without her and it's not promising. It's a Wonderful Knife is a Christmas horror slasher that is a parody of It's a Wonderful Life and pays homage with its own spin on the story. The film features the always amazing, Justin Long, as a greedy mayor who plots to take over the town of Angel Falls, and he is always fun to watch. While this film explores familiar themes we've seen before, it appears to struggle with plot. After the arrival of strange creatures who use their strong hearing to hunt, a family fights to stay alive by living their lives in silence. A Quiet Place is directed by John Kraskinsi, who also stars in the film alongside Emily Blunt. While not his directorial debut, it's Krasinski's first horror movie and he makes an impact on the genre immediately. In what many, including us, believe is a modern day classic, Krasinski paints a sad world where a loving family is forced to live a silent existence in order to stay alive. This movie has so much going for it with excellent character development, interesting creatures, a theme of guilt that leads to an excellent conclusion, tense moments, and unique storytelling. The film doesn't overstay its welcome and while nobody expected something like this from Krasinski, it delivers in every way.
An easily frightened hospice nurse arrives at the house of a sick author and while caring for her, she discovers one of her stories may reveal secrets about the house.I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House is Osgood Perkins' second movie and while we enjoyed Longlegs and the style of storytelling Perkins used in that movie, this one didn't land for us. This film, while clearly artsy, came off as a basic ghost story with little-to-no substance for us. While this movie certainly has a fan base, it just wasn't one of our favorites. There's nothing worse than a horror comedy that isn't funny. Good thing that's not the case with this one. This movie delivers on laughs, music, and vibes as an infamous serial killer is tracked through time and our protagonist has a personal stake to attempt to stop the killer in the past to preserve the future. The movie has a great array of characters that translate well both in the present and the past and adds new elements to the time travel piece where even minor impacts in the past will cause major ripples and change the future. Spooky Season is back and like usual, we are discussing Michael Myers and now we're reviewing Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers. This is the sixth installment in the Halloween franchise and by far the most convoluted. Contestants of a reality show titled "The Apocalypse" start filming and find their shooting location is occupied by a family of inbred cannibals who want nothing more than to kill and eat them.Wrong Turn 2: Dead End is the unlikely finale of Sequel September 2025, but it's the follow-up to one of our favorite horror movies growing up and is a fun movie with a ton of crazy kills. The reality show element is ridiculous, but provides an interesting setting as it leaves all the contestants vulnerable to an unforeseen horror in the woods of West Virginia. While not as good as the first, this movie is a lot of fun, and doesn't shy away from the blood and gore, and is overall gross throughout. 7/8. Professor Emily Wilson's translation of The Iliad powerfully conveys the vivid and often gory reality of Bronze Age combat. The poem meticulously details how men died, showing the brutality of warfare. A crucial aspect of Homeric battle culture, as highlighted by Wilson, is the understanding that once a warrior is dead, their body and armor must be protected and treated honorably. The desecration of corpses, like Achilles dragging Hector's body, is a profound act of humiliation, intended to further punish the enemy beyond death. 1599 ARMS FOR ACHILLES
