Two young Mormon women discuss their faith in the house of a strange man who has plans to make it a night no one will forget.Heretic is a psychological horror movie like no other led by a strong and unlikely, Hugh Grant, performance. The film also stars Sophie Thatcher and Chloe East who also deliver strong performances in a movie that's highly dialogue-driven, but tense throughout. From the character expressions to the theological debates, this movie had us unconformable from start to finish and one that we believe is a modern classic. Although Jigsaw is dead, the games continue as Lieutenant Rigg is tested in order to save his colleagues. Saw IV is the fourth installment in the Saw series and although it's not the best of the series, it's still fun and has tense moments and creative traps. As huge fans of these movies growing up, we love watching them and feeling the nostalgia of one of our favorite horror franchises. We still believe that Jigsaw is underrated in the world of horror villains even though the Saw movies are highly popular.
An easily frightened hospice nurse arrives at the house of a sick author and while caring for her, she discovers one of her stories may reveal secrets about the house.I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House is Osgood Perkins' second movie and while we enjoyed Longlegs and the style of storytelling Perkins used in that movie, this one didn't land for us. This film, while clearly artsy, came off as a basic ghost story with little-to-no substance for us. While this movie certainly has a fan base, it just wasn't one of our favorites. Oftentimes ghost stories can be unique and very interesting, but unfortunately, it just didn't work for us. As wind energy continues to grow in Canada, so does the body count for migratory bats.Biologist Cori Lausen has spent years advocating to help prevent bats from being killed by wind turbines. She even helped inform the rules around wind energy development and bats in Alberta. But she worries it may have been too little too late to prevent some species from going extinct. Molly Segal travels from Alberta wind farms to BC's forests to discover if there's a way to save bats without disrupting getting renewable energy from turbines. 35 years after the "Sweet Sixteen Killer" murders, the infamous killer returns and takes another victim. Incidentally, a young girl travels back in time to 1987 and attempts to stop the initial killings.Totally Killer is a fun, light-hearted horror film to close out Spooky Season. There's nothing worse than a horror comedy that isn't funny. Good thing that's not the case with this one. This movie delivers on laughs, music, and vibes as an infamous serial killer is tracked through time and our protagonist has a personal stake to attempt to stop the killer in the past to preserve the future. The movie has a great array of characters that translate well both in the present and the past and adds new elements to the time travel piece where even minor impacts in the past will cause major ripples and change the future. While this movie didn't have a ton of buzz, it certainly delivers.

Michael and a mysterious cult come to Haddonfield to locate Jamie's newborn child for the evil and dastardly deeds. Spooky Season is back and like usual, we are discussing Michael Myers and now we're reviewing Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers. This is the sixth installment in the Halloween franchise and by far the most convoluted. This film stars Paul Rudd in an underwhelming performance, but it's not all on him as the script is all over the place. This film not only has Michael coming to Haddonfield, but also a cult who are on paths to locate Jamie's newborn child. Will the cult be able to get their hands on the newborn for their ritual? Cori Lausen remembers the first time she saw a bat killed by a wind turbine. It looked like a “black banana peel.” That unlocked a years-long search to understand what was happening and how to fix it. Decades later, Cori says not enough has been done to keep those bat species, which act as natural pest control, from becoming endangered. As wind energy developments continue to pop up in a rush to add renewables to the grid, the question looms: will we be able to do enough to keep both climate solutions on the landscape?
Contestants of a reality show titled "The Apocalypse" start filming and find their shooting location is occupied by a family of inbred cannibals who want nothing more than to kill and eat them.Wrong Turn 2: Dead End is the unlikely finale of Sequel September 2025, but it's the follow-up to one of our favorite horror movies growing up and is a fun movie with a ton of crazy kills. The reality show element is ridiculous, but provides an interesting setting as it leaves all the contestants vulnerable to an unforeseen horror in the woods of West Virginia. While not as good as the first, this movie is a lot of fun, and doesn't shy away from the blood and gore, and is overall gross throughout. It's also always entertaining to see Henry Rollins play a badass who takes the fight back to the deformed inbred cannibals. Old hidden secrets come to haunt teens in Woodsboro as a Ghostface killer resurfaces and anyone related to individuals from previous murders become targets.Scream thematically maintains the clever parody of previous slasher movies and tropes, but weaves in new horror insights into a fresh film that still maintains the integrity of the franchise. The Scream movie series continues to have the same types of red herrings in the mystery while remaining innovative. While not as good as the first couple of movies in the series, this movie doesn't disappoint and has another great cast with newcomers like Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, and Mikey Madison, and brings back series favorites like Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, and David Arquette. Sharon's adoptive father goes missing and she attempts to find him in the alternate reality holding the answers to her nightmares that have long haunted her.Silent Hill: Revelation is the sequel to Silent Hill and is based off the video game Silent Hill 3. Being one of Kit Harrington's biggest roles since his rise to stardom in Game of Thrones, this film brought together both survival horror video game fans as well as fans of fantasy. Unfortunately, we were hoping for a film that hit a bit closer to the source material of an amazing game from our childhood rather than being an amalgamation of all things Silent Hill related. Struggling to tell a cohesive story and assuming the viewer understands and can follow the messy plot, this movie isn't successful as a video game adaptation or as a sequel to the first Silent Hill. Local authorities delve into a cave system, bringing along a caver who recently made her way out with minimal memory of what happened to her and her friends and encounter unhospitable dwellers. The Descent: Part 2 is the follow-up effort to the tense, and at times, terrifying movie, The Descent. Where the original was successful in not only creating great characters with motives, a claustrophobic environment, and creepy subterranean creatures, the sequel does the opposite on almost all of these things. The monsters are back, but there are so many of them fighting the characters throughout the movie, any and all tenseness is minimal. The characters have forced motives and there's a few twists that had us shaking our heads. As a standalone movie, it would be decent, but we just believe it's not a necessary sequel to a movie that really told a complete story. Freddy Krueger haunts the dreams of a teen boy and attempts to possess him to continue his murderous ways in reality.A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge is the sequel to one of the most popular slasher movies of its time, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and brings the deceased child killer, Freddy Krueger, back into focus. While Freddy is in control, his method of killing is a bit different in this movie moving towards possession instead of him performing the evil himself. After watching this movie, it's evident that there were a lot of deviations from the first movie in the method of killing as well as changing up some of the horror tropes we've come to expect. 7/8. Professor Emily Wilson's translation of The Iliad powerfully conveys the vivid and often gory reality of Bronze Age combat. The poem meticulously details how men died, showing the brutality of warfare. A crucial aspect of Homeric battle culture, as highlighted by Wilson, is the understanding that once a warrior is dead, their body and armor must be protected and treated honorably. The desecration of corpses, like Achilles dragging Hector's body, is a profound act of humiliation, intended to further punish the enemy beyond death. 1599 ARMS FOR ACHILLES
