We can breed for efficiency, but that doesn't make your cows efficient… they can only work with the resources that are available. Ted Perry, Director of Beef Technical Services with Purina joins us as we discuss the value of a mineral program in the nutrition of our cows that allows them to be efficient with the resources they have; whether that's their feed, their environment, or their genetics. Should a mineral program be seasonal or annual and why? And the three “Abilities” of a mineral, those being Palatability, Bio-Availability, and Weatherability. #workingranchmagazine #workingranchnation #justinmills.wyocowboy #ranchlife #ranching #dayweather #weather #agweather #beef #cows #livestock #cattle #tanktoad #gelbvieh #vitalix #PerformanceBeef #LIP #vitalix #effeciency #purina #mineralprogram
As a cattle nutritionist, Ted Perry talks to people every day – like cattle owners with real-time problems – and translates the research into real help. Prior to joining Purina more than 23 years ago, Perry earned his master's degree in animal science from Penn State University, then worked in research at Cornell University. This episode is sponsored by Purina Animal Nutrition LLC. Purina Animal Nutrition LLC is a national organization serving producers, animal owners and their families through more than 4,700 local cooperatives, independent dealers and other large retailers throughout the United States. Driven to unlock the greatest potential in every animal, the company is an industry-leading innovator offering a valued portfolio of complete feeds, supplements, premixes, ingredients and specialty technologies for the livestock and lifestyle animal markets.
High-performance genetics need high-performance nutrition. Cows are the engine that drive the industry, and high-performing cows need highly tuned fuel. If you're still feeding cows the way you did 20 years ago, you're shortchanging those modern genetics, says Ted Perry with Purina Animal Nutrition. He and host Miranda Reiman chat about what cows need, fetal programming effects, and plenty more. They discuss:How mineral intake during the last trimester can affect up to 30-40 pounds of weaning weight in that calf. How feeding a cow during drought affects a calf's entire lifetime performance. In utero development and minerals fed to the mama affect a heifer's future reproductive performance. How to tell if a cow is truly getting what she needs. How to maximize the use of low-quality hay.Much, much more!Find more information to make Angus work for you in the Angus Beef Bulletin and ABB EXTRA. Nic Lazz joins us for another look at the current situation and how we are addressing it personally, locally. We begin with some apologies and clarification regarding episode 107, move on to the cocktail for this episode — a variant of the Black Manhattan — and then get into all things Corona, wealth redistribution, population control, and a few rabbit holes. We end the episode with Michael reciting a speech (or letter) attributed to Chief Seattle as quoted in Buckminster Fuller's book titled "Critical Path". As powerful and moving as these words are, they are fictional, embellishing Seattle's original words for effect as part of a movie script written in 1971 by Ted Perry. Many have quoted these words, including Al Gore, in his book, "Earth in the Balance" (1992).This actually compels a future discussion about words, how we use them, how we are moved by them, and whether the real source matters as long as we recognize and acknowledge it. If a call to action is based on misattributed words and the outcome is positive for our species and our environment — the planet — where's the wrong? To quote Barbara Mikkelson, "... the Chief Seattle Speech has something to teach us all: So if we sell you our land, love it as we have loved it. Care for it as we have cared for it. We may be brothers after all."That Perry's eloquent speech turned Chief Seattle into a manufactured prophet matters little to us because, after all, we are NonProphet.

In this episode of Brandstorm, we welcome Andy Silverman, one of the co-founders of Milwaukee Day. Andy discusses how a joke amongst friends has exploded into a mammoth annual celebration of hometown pride through fun and service. Milwaukee DayThe date of April 14th (or 4/14), is perfect for recognizing Milwaukee, home to the 414- area code. Andy’s brother Toby originally voiced the correlation between the date and the area code about 8 or 9 years ago on social media, leading Andy and some of his friends to purchase an official Milwaukee Day URL that very day and begin dreaming up the idea. A year later, commemorating the next April 14th, Andy starred in a short video, unofficially declaring the holiday. It went viral soon after, thanks to Milwaukee television anchor Ted Perry, who broadcasted the video on the FOX 6 evening news. Since then, the annual event has snowballed into a large goodwill effort to explore and experience Milwaukee’s vast history, raise funds or awareness for local charities, take in live, local music, and to do whatever one deems appropriate in celebration of the city. Andy says the Milwaukee Day movement comes from a sincere love for his hometown and embracing everything that makes Milwaukee unique. Assistance From Local BusinessesFor several years, the Milwaukee Day organizers have received sponsorships from local businesses to keep ticket prices low for those attending. Andy says his team is lucky to not only be working with these companies, but that the same organizations are often the first to reach out to them. As more companies have come on board and created their own events, it has lessened the load for the Milwaukee Day team, making the day more about inspiration and less about execution. Fun Events and Discounts on Milwaukee DayHere are just a few of the gatherings or special deals you can take advantage of on Milwaukee Day. More are listed on their website, found below. The Official Milwaukee Day Party at Company Brewing, sponsored by Gruber Law Offices and WMSE, features live music from Tigernite, Midwest Death Rattle and Zed Kenso. Company Brewing is also releasing a limited Milwaukee Day Ale. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Peck School of the Arts Open House will showcase art exhibitions, film screenings and live performances from over 100 award-winning graduate students and faculty. The Harley-Davidson Museum is offering free admission to anyone wearing clothes emblazoned with the word "Milwaukee." Celebrating Milwaukee Through ServiceWhile Andy and the Milwaukee Day team love driving traffic to their sanctioned events, part of their mission is also to bring awareness to positive causes. This ranges from park clean-ups to non-partisan voter registration to raising funds for area public charter school Escuela Verde. Andy says that Milwaukee Day is a great reason to give people guidance on how they can help out their community. Getting Noticed Both Locally and NationallyOn top of receiving annual recognition from Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and the City Common Council, Milwaukee Day recently garnered national attention when it was spotlighted as an answer on the television gameshow Jeopardy!. Andy is proud that this mention came seemingly out of nowhere with no one on the Milwaukee Day team having any connection to the show. Clearly, the passion for Milwaukee Day is no longer limited to just Wisconsin! Contact Milwaukee Day:Website: www.milwaukeeday.com Email: milwaukeeday@gmail.com Twitter: @MilwaukeeDay

Ted Perry Joins The Friday Show!
On Monday, July 31, a standing-room-only crowd at Club Garibaldi enjoyed a ton of jokes, plenty of jabs, and the deft hosting skills of FOX6 anchor Ted Perry at the 3rd annual Roast Of Milwaukee. Comedians Ryan Lowe, Greg Bach, Addie Blanchard, David Louis, Rita Landis, AJ Grill, and Carly Malison all lambasted the city (and each other), and Perry and V100.7 DJ Promise joined in on the biting-but-loving roasting action. Milwaukee Record's own Tyler Maas did a set, too, and was unfavorably compared to a sickly Dave Grohl at least once (Matt Wild took a "Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory" hit). Oh, and we raised a bunch of cash and supplies for the Milwaukee Women's Center. Static Eyes, meanwhile, blew the house down before and after the show.
