VisitMineralWells.org Trading pavement for pedals, paddles, and parks, our journey through Mineral Wells revealed a Texas treasure trove of natural wonders waiting to be explored. From the moment we stepped into Clark Gardens Botanical Park, we were captivated by its magic – wheelchair-accessible pathways winding through vibrant displays, waterfalls sparkling in sunlight, and ponds where black and white swans glide gracefully alongside strutting peacocks. What makes this garden extraordinary is its humble origins as Max Clark and his wife's private yard, gradually transformed into a botanical paradise now recognized as an official best public garden in Texas. During our visit, we experienced their annual Grow Festival, a month-long celebration of art, wellness, and Texas heritage featuring themed weekends, hands-on activities, and special events like crawfish boils. The Quanah Parker "One Man, Two Worlds" exhibit tucked inside the on-site chapel, powerfully chronicled the story of Cynthia Ann Parker and her son Quanah, the last Comanche chief – a fascinating glimpse into the cultural collisions that shaped frontier America. Our adventure continued at Lake Mineral Wells State Park, where we hiked through the aptly named Penitentiary Hollow with its impressive sandstone cliffs and hidden caves. Rock climbers, hikers, campers and mountain bikers all find their paradise here, with access to a 20-mile trailway connecting to neighboring Weatherford. The highlight came when we partnered with Spartan Adventure and Rentals for some lake exploration – though one of us learned the hard way that "stand-up paddleboarding" can quickly become "stand-up splashboarding" when attempting to model a new shirt! Despite the unexpected swim, being surrounded by herons, ducks, and the gentle lap of water against our boards provided that perfect reset that only nature can deliver.Ready to answer nature's call? Plan your own outdoor escape at visitmineralwells.org and discover why this charming Texas town deserves a prominent spot on your travel wishlist. Say goodbye to messy curly cords and more potential failure points.Steering wheel-mounted controls make it easier to adjust key functions on the fly, but getting those signals from the wheel to the car is not as simple as it sounds. Running multiple wires through a rotating steering column is unreliable, time-consuming, and they can be prone to failure due to the nature of their use. Zestek has developed a CAN-based steering wheel PCB solution (CAN hub) that simplifies installation, reduces wiring complexity, and integrates seamlessly with MoTeC ECUs, dashes, and PDMs.Use ‘PODCAST75' for $75 off your first HPA course here: https://hpcdmy.co/hpa-tuned-inWith only four wires required for full functionality (CAN high, CAN low, power, and ground), this system eliminates the need for bulky wiring looms. The pogo pin system built into the quick-release hub provides a clean and hassle-free connection, removing the need for traditional curly cords. A pre-configured DBC file is available for MoTeC users (and we're sure more in the future), while others can configure the CAN signals using a spreadsheet for quick setup. Each button and switch is fully customizable, including momentary and latching functions, as well as full-spectrum RGB LED feedback. Paddles can be used for more than just shifting, allowing functions like anti-lag, launch control, and nitrous activation. It is also sim racing compatible, making it easy to use the same wheel for both real and virtual driving while you wait out the winter weather.

This week's workout is all about pacing, form under fatigue, and dialing in your endurance one rung at a time. We kick things off with a smooth 200 at Zone 2, just to get things flowing. From there, we sharpen technique with some 6/1/6 drills and one-eyed breathing to help you stay long and balanced in the water. Main Set 1 x 500 Build to Z4 (20 sec) 1 x 400 Build to Z4 (20 sec) 2 x 300 @ Z4 w/Paddles (20 sec) 2 x 200 @ Z2 (20 sec) 5 x 100 @ Desc to Z4 w/Paddles (20 sec) 125 Alternating Drill Choice/Free by 25 (25 sec) Cool Down Balance of time @ Z2 and/or repeat warmup drills as time permits. Session tip: As the intervals get shorter and your rest gets more generous, resist the urge to get sloppy. Hold that form, stay efficient, and finish as strong as you started. Swim ladders are sneaky good—they build aerobic strength while training your brain to stay focused when fatigue sets in. Climb smart, descend sharper. Fun Segment: Triathlon Would You Rather – Disney Edition! “Okay folks, it's time for a magical twist on our favorite game—Triathlon Would You Rather: Disney Edition! We're diving headfirst into the world of castles, sidekicks, and talking animals… but with a triathlon twist. These questions will put your race-day imagination to the test!” Would You Rather… …have your bike tuned by the mice from Cinderella OR ride a bike built by Hiccup from How to Train Your Dragon? …run your marathon through the Pride Lands being chased by hyenas OR Run through the hellscape that is Fantasia! …fuel with Princess Tiana's beignets at every aid station OR pre-race carbo-load with Lady and the Tramp? …have Genie as your triathlon coach with unlimited wishes (but zero structure) OR be coached by Mulan—with perfectly executed drills and warrior-level discipline? …be stuck in a never-ending loop of “Let It Go” for the entire bike course OR have “It's a Small World After All” play during the entire run course? …be the only human in a Disney-themed triathlon with every character in costume OR do a normal triathlon—but every volunteer is a Disney villain? …win your age group and get your medal presented by Mickey Mouse OR finish last but get a surprise post-race photo shoot with the entire Disney Princess crew? Closing Line: “So…to our listeners, what's your pick? And remember, there are no wrong answers—just magical ones. Share your choices with us on Instagram, Facebook, or tag a Disney-obsessed training partner who needs to hear this!” "All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." – Walt Disney Closing: Before we close, I want to wish you (April) good luck at tomorrow's “The Bear” MTB race by Rattler Racing. “Any job where it's reasonable for you to have a beer in your hand when you're doing it is a pretty good deal.”Those words could be spoken at any brewery opening; in this case, however, they come courtesy of Crafty podcast guest Matt Stewart.Matt is a Melbourne-based comedian, podcast host, and history-travel-beer guide known as The Beer Pioneer. The last of those is a television show that first aired in 2021 and saw Matt track the path of William Buckley while visiting breweries along the way. Kewanee's much-anticipated Quarter Madness makes a grand return on March 14, 2025, at the Elks Lodge. This exhilarating raffle event promises exciting prizes like designer purses and gift cards, kicking off at 6:30 PM. Not only a night of fun, but proceeds also support the Prairie Chicken Arts Festival and Kewanee Rotary Club's community initiatives. Paddles are your ticket to participate—secure yours in advance online or at local outlets. Platinum paddles offer convenience, while Gold and White paddles bring thrill. Join the community, win incredible prizes, and make a difference. Follow the Kewanee Rotary Club on Facebook for updates. "Quarter Madness isn't just about winning; it's about giving back. Proceeds from the event support the Prairie Chicken Arts Festival and the Community Projects of the Rotary Club of Kewanee Foundation. Thanks to the generosity of local businesses and individuals, we're assembling an amazing lineup of prizes." If you'd like to donate or purchase paddles, please contact Dianne Packee at 309-312-0168. How to Play and Win: To participate, you'll need a paddle—and the best way to secure yours is to buy in advance! Get your paddles online at www.kewaneerotary.com or in person at: Sutton and Associates Real Estate (Main & First Streets) Country Financial – Erin Spivey's Office (Division & Main Streets) Gold and White paddles will also be available for purchase at the Elks Lodge once doors open. How to play: The easiest way to play is to purchase a Platinum paddle for $40. Platinum paddles are entered to Win every prize all night, and you do not have to be present to win. You can sit at home on your couch, and we'll call you to tell you what you've won! Now if fun is your thing and you want to be at Quarter Madness in person, you'll want to purchase a Gold paddle for $30. With a Gold paddle, you must be there to watch your number. When we call your number, you've got to hoot and holler so we can get that prize over to your table! You can purchase unlimited Platinum or Gold paddles. Last but not least, we also have White paddles. White paddles are $5 each and are only available once the doors open on the day of the event. Here's where the quarters come in. In order for a White paddle to be in the raffle, you must bid the amount of quarters for the item's value. Items up to $25 are one quarter, $26-$50 are two quarters, $51-75 are three quarters, and $76 on up are 4 quarters per bid. Each person can only purchase two white paddles, and each paddle must have a bid on the item for it to be on the raffle drawing.
