In this the first episode of Tell Me Stories we delve into a song called "We Shall Overcome." First sung in the 1890s, this song has weaved it's way through history making an impact every step of the way. We map out this song's journey, and our journey with this song, from the cotton fields in the 1890s to the tobacco plants of the 1940s. From the streets of the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s to the present where we all need a little faith.

The Sheepdogs are one of Canada's most loved bands - formed in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 2006. Lead singer and guitarist Ewan Currie, bass guitarist Ryan Gullen, drummer Sam Corbett, guitarist Jimmy Bowskill, and Shamus Currie, brother of lead singer Ewan Currie, playing trombone, keyboards, and tambourine - AND occasionaly but sadl not on this round of seeing them live: Rusty Matyas, Rusty, you were missed man and I can't wait to have you on the show! Some of you may recall The Sheepdogs became the first unsigned band to make the cover of ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE back in 2011 and have since blown the hells up all over North America. Cause, hot damn - they good. I sat down after their set w/ Ryan Gullen to talk backstage parties, working for a living and dressing for the part. Ryan - I loved every minute man and thanks for being the host with the most style at an after-after party :) www.thesheepdogs.com www.patreon.com/posts/support-me-at-10-5388919 Tell Me Stories available on Itunes, GooglePlay, PlayerFM and anywhere else good pods are found. I can't believe this... 100 Episodes. First off, if you're reading this, THANK YOU SO MUCH! I decided to make this episode a 'retrospective' of sorts looking back at some of my favorite episodes and interviews and big landmark events for the show! After that, I then went into what my experience was in Chicago for Podcast Movement 2016! The sessions, the speakers, my days and nights and 5 interviews from the conference floor with some of the great people I met while there! Paula Allen joins Justin Young and Jake TerMolen to tell us about the Tell me Stories Podcast Listen to Next? is an always positive look at podcasts.
In this episode of Podcasting 101 I get a chance to meet face to face with a fantastic story teller, Paula Allen. This is something I hope to be doing more often with this show. Meeting podcasters, and talking all things podcasting in person. Paula has been podcasting for well over a year now, but only releasing episodes now for just over 6 months. Lot's of practicing. Lots and lots of tape! We discuss everything from her evolution of recording stories, to creating a podcast revolving around her passion for live music, and all the work that goes into traveling from venue to venue, to meet with live musical acts, to get true and honest stories for them. She is so committed to podcasting and the music scene she is actually building herself a mobile podcasting studio that she will take with her to music festival's all across Canada. If you're looking to be inspired to start podcasting, or get rejuvenated by someone who is so in love with podcasting, then this episode should do the trick! I'd love to hear your thoughts on this episode or about anything podcasting in general. Please reach out to me via twitter at @Podcaster101 or you can emaill the show with your comments or questions at 7DAGpodcasting101@gmail.com To all of you that support the show in anyway...be it with your wallet or your downloads and/or retweets...I really appreciate it! www.patreon.com/monkeypoostudios

But before youfind out which piece of Muppet ass that Elijah Wood can crush, let’s talk about one of the best films of 2016: GREEN ROOM.

Nocturnes 1.0. And the Night moves on... Nocturnes is French for Nightly.. The great Chopin named some of his pieces "Nocturnes", far from me to draw any sort of kinship yet put this set on, dim the lights, grab a book, read, meditate or just chill. For all the Nightcrawlers. Readers and other sleep-impaired creatures out there! Deep and Progressive with a hint of very soft trance..From 99 to 120 bpm. A MUCH slower pace than what I usually serve.. Meant to relax the listeners. I gave it a month ago to a young man, whose comment was " nice but not much schtick".. that's when I knew I sort of got it right ;).. I have had it on my HD for more than a month but I could not decide whether I would go soulful or progressive.. Since I am suffering from whatever is the equivalent of writer's block for a DJ, I have decided to publish it and wait for inspiration to strike.. later Playlist: 2013 West End Girls (Leon & Toky aka Superhero Remix) [Xtian The Night Moves On Edit} . Dino Lenny 2012 New Path (Original Mix) [Xtian Almor del Alma Edit]. Nubah 2012 Love So Deep (Original Mix). Nubah 2012 Never Let Me Go (East Café Deep Dub) [Xtian Notice Me Edit feat Sandee]. Resistance 2012 Not Tonight (Protoxic Kabila Beach Mix) (Xtian Filtered Edit] . Futurism & No Nation feat. Michelle Labelle 2012 Over (Original Mix) . Maya Jane Coles 2012 Le Clan (Original Mix). Alex Neivel and DJ Schwa 2012 Touching Me. (Original Mix) Finnebassen 2012 Just a Game (Lets Play)(Tommy Lucas Remix). The Stereo Fighterz feat Suzanne 2012 Lose Myself (Original Mix). Jack Dixon 2012 Rain In My Heart (Biotones Remix). Jane Maximova 2012 Our Discovery (Original Mix) [Xtian The Night Edit]. Henry Saiz 2012 Sexy Biest (Gui Boratto Remix) [Xtian The Dirty Edit]. Stimming and David August 2012 Wildlife (Original Mix). Animal Picnic 2012 Tell Me Stories (Ferniasty Remix). Maciej Wunsch Highlights: "West End Girls".. nice to see this tune come back with a 2013 flavour still preserving the 80's groove. "Love So Deep" from Nubah may well be the aboslute gem of the set, driving bass and deep keys... Enjoy! "Over" by Maya Jane Coles.. MJC is most probably the best female DJ/Producer there is and she has that trouse feel I really dig.. As for the tune, I do not know if it is "house" but it is driving for sure, with great guitars and basslines. "Touching Me" by Finnebassen, one of the best release of 2012. So happy to have used it before it became too buried in all the new music! "Rain in My Heart" by Jane Maximova.. best I can describe is "Chilled Balearic Trance" very CDM and reminds me of early Chicane. "Our Discovery" by Henry Saiz, continuing the balearic mood is a progressive little gem. which could belong to the original Cafe del Mar (CDM) serie. "Sexy Biest" by Stimming and Aavid August, very, very sexy deep, progressive tune and I feel my edit is doing the tune justice. The last 2 tracks, "Wildlife" and "Tell Me Stories" wrap up the nocturnal mood in a nice chill yet progressive groove. I shoud be back soon with a soulful banger.. But the Nocturnes serie is not yet completed.. Xtian
