Tom Gaglardi, Ray Dhaliwal, The Brothers Foulds and Colton Meikle headline our landmark 60th episode of Kamloops Last Week. Dhaliwal, who is running for mayor, takes his place in the hot seat and talks bullying and intimidation in city hall and on council, working-class approach, methods for reducing crime and street issues, arts centre, low morale among City of Kamloops employees and his belief that the race features more than three horses. Gaglardi, majority owner of the Kamloops Blazers, talks potential for roster upgrades, his involvement in targeting players and making deals, the Logan Stankoven dream scenario and his goals for the team, including winning the division, league and Memorial Cup. With his birthday looming, co-host and KTW editor Chris Foulds receives messages from his brothers, Shane and Darryl, videos that spark an incredible story about a late-night/early morning phone call received from former Edmonton Elk and current TSN analyst Matt Dunigan. Meikle, a 17-year-old pass catcher from Kamloops who leads the B.C. Football Conference in receiving yards, talks of improved Broncos’ morale, results and culture during a spare block at Westsyde secondary. Also discussed: School trustee candidate Jennifer Rowse, show criticism and Mike Miltimore’s cow bellowing expertise. We spin a sponsorship yarn that takes Nu Leaf Produce Market, Gord’s Appliance and Mattress Centre and McDonald’s on a trip down the Adams River. On Thursday afternoon, the Dallas Stars announced a new three-year deal for goaltender Jake Oettinger worth $12 million ($4 million AAV). Oettinger had a great 2021-2022 season and played great against the Calgary Flames in round one of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. What does his deal mean for the Stars? What does it mean for Jason Robertson and his contract negotiations? We also discuss Stars owner Tom Gaglardi and his recent comments on the Cam and Strick podcast. Why should the Dallas Stars pay Jason Robertson what he wants? Why should he (and other Stars executives) take a different approach to discussing Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn in public?Subscribe to Locked on Stars on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/LockedOnStarsFollow Dane on Twitter: https://twitter.com/Dane__LewisFollow the show on Twitter: https://twitter.com/LockedOnStarsFind Locked on Stars on you Favorite Podcast Platform:Apple: https://tinyurl.com/3wjnbvp2Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/2p9yx4urGoogle: https://tinyurl.com/2yc492b7Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. Does Potestio think North Shore Italians are superior to South Shore Italians? Is South Shore Italian Mike Miltimore offended? KTW reporter Jessica Wallace hops in to feature in her very own (noisy) edition of the #LastWeekClique. The show simply does not happen without the support of Nu Leaf Produce Market and the Kamloops and Merritt McDonald’s locations, owned and operated by Brandy Sekhon. Kamloops Blazers’ majority owner Tom Gaglardi said a new format is in place for bidding on the Memorial Cup — a behind-the-curtain, confidential process that is likely to produce a host city prior to this summer. Gaglardi said he does not expect a vote among the WHL board of governors to be involved in the process. In this interview (click link above), Gaglardi offers his opinion on the new bidding format, touts a strong team and “dry powder” in 2022-2023, talks of work done by Blazers’ management at the WHL trade deadline, ponders a post-pandemic business boom and highlights expectations to win the B.C. Division. KTW reached out to Kelowna Rockets' owner Bruce Hamilton to ask if Kelowna will bid on the 2023 Memorial Cup. "Thanks for the interest," Hamilton said. "The CHL is who releases that info now."
Stars owner Tom Gaglardi says he’s had high hopes for his team for a few years now & this trip to the Stanley Cup Final erases a lot of frustration & doubt. Tom says he’s glad he had Rick Bowness on the staff when the change was made this season & the players just love playing for him.
Donnie and Moj are joined by Tom Gaglardi.
In today's episode of behind success, Matthew Nelson interviews billionaire Tom Gaglardi. Tom is the CEO of Northland Properties, one of the largest family-owned hospitality companies in Canada. Their company controls brands throughout all of North America, including Moxie's, Denny's, The Dallas Stars, Sandman Hotels, and many more. They are involved with so many brands in so many industries; it's hard to keep track of all the work they get done. Tom's father, Bob, built up the company in the early 60s and, through hardship, managed to persevere and stay alive. Tom had to drop out of university to go and help his father at his company. Since then, he hasn't looked back. Today, the company has over 10,000 employees and has continued to show year over year growth. During the episode, Tom and Matthew talk about how he grew up around business and what that looked like. Then they look into his role at the company and why he had to leave university to help his father. Furthermore, they talk about how to succeed in the real estate industry and Tom's involvement in sports. ESPN’s Greg Wyshynski says John Tavares leaving in free agency “rips the heart out” of the Islanders, who still have some decent pieces, but are now caught without a decent plan B and is scrambling hard. 22nd may 2020 - Please rate review and subscribe. It helps us a lot. This week Dan and Will discuss Robert Pattinsons bizarre interview. Is he Andy Kauffmanning this or is he legit going nuts? Akim Aliu published an important article in The Players Tribune that everyone should read. We discuss the issue of players not getting involved in any positive messages promoting anti-racism movements. The replys to tweets about this. Does a players position matter on how much fans would listen to them? Why is Carey Price allowed in the playoffs when he is is OP. How can anyone score on him? Can we name 10 goalies better than him right now. Tom Gaglardi loves money. The NHL has proposed a return and it seems the best way to do it...I think. How they will fleece fans for money. Early predictions. NBA is smart. NHL is dumb. Who knew. A Quiz. Play along at home fun. Does Will. A well known Cockney wideboy know his rhyming slang. All that and more.
