Jason Gregor and Frank Seravalli are back with a fresh episode of The DFO Rundown as they took a look back at everything that went down over the weekend in the NHL.The big story is the end of the Oilers vs Canucks game on Saturday night as both Connor McDavid and Tyler Myers were ejected for cross-checks to the head of an opponent. Both now have hearings with the NHL DOPS, but should they be suspended the same number of games? The guys debated that and had a bigger picture conversation about the state of officiating in the league. They then got into the John Klingberg signing. Gregor gave some insight into where he could slot into the lineup and they talked about whether or not Klingberg can find his game with the Oilers. They then got into what's been going down over in the Eastern Conference. The Devils and Bruins are both slipping with the New York Rangers starting to find their game. They talked about the recent hot streak for New York and dug into some of their concerns with what's happening in New Jersey. That led to some conversation about the Simon Nemec comments. He didn't ask for a trade, but he wants to play in the NHL and the Devils have a loaded right-side of their blueline. Could something give there? Frank gave his thoughts. They also talked about Kappo Kakko's hot start to his Kraken career. The guys had a contentious debate a few weeks ago when the trade first went down so they revisited their conversation and their thoughts on the deal.Tyler then popped in for a new edition of Fill in the Blank where he asked the guys about best fits for JT Miller, the playoff chances for the Montreal Canadiens, and whether or not Jeff Skinner will finish out the year in Edmonton. They wrapped with some talk about potential injury replacements for the 4 Nations Faceoff with guys like Jason Robertson and Zach Hyman both shooting the lights out.1:10 - McDavid & Myers face hearings14:40 - John Klingberg signs in Edmonton17:55 - Eastern playoff picture20:50 - Concern in New Jersey?32:30 - Kakko & The Kraken35:40 - Fill in the Blank (JT Miller, Habs playoff chances, Skinner in Edmonton)47:00 - 4 Nations Injury ReplacementsWant to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? It's the Friday afternoon after a pair of huge Oilers comeback wins, which meant the boys had plenty to talk about on the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio. This week, the guys discussed the John Klingberg signing, Connor McDavid's goal heater, Noah Philp being recalled, and much more.We started the podcast with a delicious debate about John Klingberg signing a one-year deal with the Oilers this morning and how he fits into the Oilers' lineup. Given that he hasn't played in well over a year, we also wondered what's fair to expect from him as he works his way back into playing shape. We've seen plenty of examples of players missing time early in NHL seasons and taking plenty of time to get back up to speed.Changing gears, we looked at the two comeback wins over the Wild and Avalanche. Obviously, it's great that the Oilers could erase their early deficits and ultimately win the game. Still, it's undoubtedly a problem that they're giving up so many early goals, and they have got to clean up those details and mistakes. Another angle on the issue is: Are the Oilers having an issue with slow starts, or is there something to be said about the ridiculous travel schedule they've had lately?Looking at some of the individual performances that have happened over the last few games, and how some key players are coming up with clutch goals when we need them most. Given that we've always been gagging for secondary scoring, having the Oilers get goals from throughout their lineup is a blessing the team hasn't had in forever. Finally, the boys wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another round of Ask the Idiots and Hot that featured some Oilers questions about topics you never expected to hear. Needless to say, the boys were all over the map. As always, the fellas gave their best advice whether they were qualified or not. Last but not least, everyone gave their best and worst moments from the last week in another round of Hot and Cold Performers.
On this edition of the Oil Stream, Dustin Nielson and Tom Gazzola will touch on the latest news as John Klingberg is signing with the Edmonton Oilers... The boys will also recap the win in Colorado and preview Saturday's game in Vancouver. The fellas will touch on slow starts, a nuclear top line and why two-goal leads are the most dangerous in hockey. Maybe even a potential new addition on the back end... All that and much more on today's Oil Stream! The Oil Stream is presented by Boston Pizza!
What a game! The Edmonton Oilers stormed back from a 3-0 deficit to secure an epic 4-3 comeback win over the Colorado Avalanche, showing why they're legitimate Stanley Cup contenders. Stuart Skinner had a rough start but stepped up big when it mattered, locking things down as the Oilers clawed their way back. We'll break down the scoring summary, analyze the game's key moments, and tackle today's Giant Question. But before all of that... we got some late breaking news before the show started! As the Edmonton Oilers have signed defenseman John Klingberg to a 1 year deal. The boys react to the deal, and give their takes on the signing. In addition, we'll dive into the Rumour Mill to discuss potential Oilers trade targets and explore what's trending around the league. Finally, we'll preview tomorrow's divisional showdown against the struggling Vancouver Canucks, a crucial game as the Oilers look to keep their momentum rolling.Don't miss this episode packed with analysis, updates, and excitement as the Oilers continue their push for the playoffs!
