Today on Hockey Sense, Andy Strickland goes one on one with an exclusive conversation with Blues General Manager Doug Armstrong
Morning, friends. Game pace yesterday was brisk to say the least. Martin was at Busch to monitor the getaway special. The Pirates have been shut out in 8 games already this year. Cardinals continue to soar. Andy Strickland coming in today. What kind of hat was Justin Faulk wearing. Sandwiches. Dallas wins in Winnipeg last night. Schadenfreude galore, honestly. The Redbirds win a lot at home, but the road is tricky. Best pennant races in Cardinals history? Road trip time for the Cardinals. People are not happy that we are talking about the Cardinals. Price of Cardinal games. Kids and Baseball. The Cardinals haven't lost since Jon Gruden was in the Clubhouse. What can the Redbirds do to win the fans back? Who's watching Stars & Jets after Sunday night? Jets seem “hungover” from Game 7. Bernie Federko joins the program to discuss the heartbreak in Game 7. Bernie also talks about the hangover effect for the Jets, the Blues issues with 6v5, and the future of the franchise as we head into the offseason. A study saying that women find bald men more attractive. The dais and the audience have some doubts. What kind of hat was Faulk wearing? Did Abe Lincoln have hair? Famous #16 in STL Sports. Andy Strickland stops by the studio to talk Hockey. See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Andy tells some stories, talks about the Blues devastating loss in Game 7. The Blues struggles with the 6v5. Andy compares and contrasts Sunday's loss to losses from years ago. Andy also talks about the offseason possibilities and “hockey trades.” Andy kind enough to stick around for another segment as we wait for Steven Matz to give us a call. Andy also breaks news of Joel Quenneville being named coach of the Ducks. The audience peppers Andy with some questions. Steven Matz joins the show talking about the 5-game win streak for the Cardinals and what he has noticed as a difference recently. Steven also discusses the home/road splits. Steven also tells us about catching a bull shark a few years ago. Martin out for onboarding. Victor Scott postgame sound following his big game on the basepaths. Cardinal road trip. Fractional jet ownership. See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Hey baby. Yeah, you know we're chill. We can keep this whole thing casual. No strings attached. Oops...sorry, wrong post. Because we totally have strings attached this week, as Simon Chesterfield (aka Simon Barber) from UK indie pop faves The Chesterfields joins us to discuss our Top 5 Songs with Strings. The use of strings in pop music has traditionally been to contribute texture and dimension to a record. In the context of rock bands, it often symbolizes musical sophistication, grandeur, and the ambition to break outside of the standard band format. It's all very timely too, because Simon has just released his first solo album, Simon Chesterfield, in which he re-imagines six of his compositions as orchestral performances. This gorgeous album was co-produced by Ben Scott Turner, Rob Ellis (PJ Harvey) and Simon, and was orchestrated by Charles Harrison. It is now out on digital platforms and on limited edition 10-inch vinyl from Legere Recordings. Simon Barber is the co-founder, ever-present member, bassist, songwriter, and vocalist of The Chesterfields. Their jangling, exciting sound made them fixtures on the UK indie charts - with albums like their debut Kettle (1987, #5) and 1988's Crocodile Tears (#10), and singles like "Completely and Utterly" (1986, #16), "Ask Johnny Dee" (1987, #4), "Goodbye, Goodbye" (1988, #10), and "Blame" (1988, #11). Nearly two decades after lead singer Dave Goldsworthy's tragic death, Simon led a new lineup of The Chesterfields (featuring Loft guitarist and past O3L guest Andy Strickland, Helen Stickland and Rob Perry) on their first new album in 27 years, the marvelous New Modern Homes.
