God is a God of Justice. The only way for God to give away His free gift of righteousness to us is for Him to JUSTLY do away with the nature of sin, the demands of the law that convicts us and the claim of Satan over our lives. My mind went back to couple of events where God had strengthened me to surrender all to Him- even my plans and aspirations. He reminded me in His Word that He has better plans for me. (Titus 1:5; Titus 2:2-5) The life we life can either bring glory or blasphemy to God's Word. How does the Word of God gets blasphemed, discredited, dishonoured or ridiculed? When we live our lives contrary to the way God desires, designed and planned. Apostle Paul mentored Titus, from his letter in Titus 1:5; to set things in order by admonishing the Church leaders to live Godly lives. The truth is that we are all called to maturity. We are all called to live disciplined lives full of dignity and self-control. We are all called to live lives of solid faith, generous love, and patient endurance; living lives free from gossip and drunkenness and to be teachers of beautiful things. When we are all committed to living by the standard of God, we will be empowered to teach younger people to love their own family, to love their children, and to be self-controlled and pure, taking care of their household and being devoted to their own. This ultimately leads to God's Word being honoured in, and through our lives. ‭‭ Remember, be intentional to live life that will bring honour to God and His Word. “The reason I stationed you in Crete was so that you could set things in order and complete what was left unfinished, and to raise up and appoint church elders in every city, just as I had instructed you.” ‭‭Titus‬ ‭1:5‬ ‭TPT‬‬ “Lead the male elders into disciplined lives full of dignity and self-control. (John 4:23-24) Clear Your Thought Of Any Other Things But God and His Word Someone once said “you can not stop birds from flying over your head, but you can stop them from building their nests on your head.” So also different thoughts will fly through our mind as we settle down to study and commune with the Lord. We need to be deliberate to clear our minds of thoughts but the Word of God. Practical way of doing this could be jotting down the most important ones. For example, while studying the Bible, you remembered that phone calls you need to make- then joy it down. The more our spirit gains supremacy over the flesh, the easier it becomes for us to stay focused studying and meditating on the Word of God thus enhancing our ability to hear from the Father. “From now on, worshiping the Father will not be a matter of the right place but with a right heart. Genesis 12:7; Rom 12:1; I Thessalonians 5:24) I'm the Old Testament, Abraham built an altar (raised structure where sacrifice/worship is made) in honour of God knowing that God will do what He says. “And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him.” ‭‭Genesis‬ ‭12:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬ As New Testament Believers, we should raise ourselves as living sacrifice to honour God whilst awaiting the manifestation of His covenant, His promises in our lives. Faithful and absolutely trustworthy is He who called and promised us, for He will complete His work in us. “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬ “Beloved friends, what should be our proper response to God's marvelous mercies? To surrender yourselves to God to be his sacred, living sacrifices. And live in holiness, experiencing all that delights his heart. (Judges 14:14; Ephesians‬ ‭5:15-17‬ ‭TPT‬‬) Samson, a Hebrew Judge, in his riddle to the men of philistines, said “...Out of the eater, something to eat. Out of the strong, something sweet...” He later interpreted his riddle- the eater and strong was the lion which he killed. In its context, the answer to the riddle is honey from the lion's carcass: Honey is "something to eat" and "something sweet", and lion is "the eater" and "something strong". With the emergence of enforced use of mask, aside its work of preventing or reducing the spread of the Covid-19 virus, I observe that I can be more expressive in my prayers. I am able to pray more in tongues with my mouth open as nobody will see my moving mouth. An encouraging word that comes to mind is in line with maximising the time. “So be very careful how you live, not being like those with no understanding, but live honorably with true wisdom, for we are living in evil times. Take full advantage of every day as you spend your life for his purposes. (Prov21:23; Prov 22:5) Some battles are not worth fighting. “Watch your words and be careful what you say, and you'll be surprised by how few troubles you'll have.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭21:23‬ ‭TPT‬‬ “Stay away from the paths of bad people. They are dark and dangerous.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭22:5‬ ‭EASY‬‬ God give us grace to guard our lips from speaking what is wrong. Guide us away from temptation and doing evil. Save us from sinful habits and from keeping company with those who are experts in evil. Help us not to share in their sin in any way! When one of your godly ones corrects us or one of your faithful ones rebukes us, we ask for grace to accept it like an honor we cannot refuse so we can receive it as healing medicine that we swallow without an offended heart. “God has transmitted his very substance into every Scripture, for it is God-breathed. It will empower you by its instruction and correction, giving you the strength to take the right direction and lead you deeper into the path of godliness.” ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭TPT‬‬ When the bible says that every scripture is God-breathed, it carries great implications for the believers and unbelievers. How? The scripture is not just a storybook! No! It contains the very breath of God Himself - the spirit of God and whatever the Spirit of God touches must come alive. The life-giving Spirit of God has never met anything dead that He can't resurrect. Let's look at some examples: In the beginning, when Adam's body was created, it was not until God breathed into the nostrils of Adam before Adam could come alive (Gen 2:7). Adam's body was lifeless until God breathed on Him. In Ezekiel 37:1-10, at the valley of dry bones, it was not until the breath of God came upon the bones that they could come alive. Also, the only way the disciples of Jesus Christ could become born again was for Jesus to breathe on them (John 20:22). Now 2 Tim 3:7 says the Word of God (that is the scriptures) is God-breathed and that means it will make anything it comes in contact, no matter how dead abs hopeless it may look, to come alive. Do you have anything in your life that looks hopeless and there is no way out? Then start to meditate on and speak the word of God over those things. As you study the Word, you are actually inhaling God's breath into your spirit. If God could open your eyes to see what happens when you say His Words after Him, you will see a double-edged sword coming out of your mouth to slay the situations that you face. Beloved, instead of despairing about the situation, say the Word over the situation and actively use your imagination to see those words slaying the situation. There is nothing that will come to you in the future of 100 years from now that the Word of God properly harnessed and used will not be effective to overcome. Jesus said in John 6:63, that His words are spirit and life. This means His words are spiritual and they produce life. God's words in your mouth too are spiritual and they will always produce life. This is the reason why the first place the devil attacks is to try to discourage you from either studying the Word by being too busy etc or he tries to deceive or confuse you in not rightfully understanding it. God has given you offensive weaponry. Of all the weapons listed as part of the armour of God in Eph 6, the Word of God is the only offensive weapon - all others are defensive. The Word must matter so much for God Himself could not create without it. Rise up today and use the Word over your life. Don't relegate the Word to second place in your life. Make the Word first and it will empower you to deal wisely in all the affairs of your life. The Word of God is the breath of God that always produces life. It has never failed and it will not fail in your life - if you dare to use it. Remember, the Word of God in your mouth is like God Himself speaking. Guess what? God watches over those words to bring them to pass. Your job and mine is to learn to speak the word in faith knowing fully well that the same Word that raised Lazarus from the dead is at work in you. There is no situation in this life that the breath of God, His Word can't overturn. So, start today. Engage the Word. Eat the Word. (Psalms 61:1-8) King David's psalm in chapter 61 lifted up my soul when I was down and overwhelmed with certain circumstances. I pray you will find succour in this Psalm also - Psalms 61:1-8 “O God, hear my prayer. Listen to my heart's cry. For no matter where I am, even when I'm far from home, I will cry out to you for a father's help. When I'm feeble and overwhelmed by life, guide me into your glory, where I am safe and sheltered. Listen to what the Scriptures say: "Because Abraham believed God's words, his faith transferred God's righteousness into his account." When people work, they earn wages.
