What do you do when your prayer feels dry? When it feels like you're just saying words into the air, wondering if you're actually connecting with God? In this episode, we’ll explore this common struggle, drawing from Thomas Green’s When the Well Runs Dry to uncover how prayer can move beyond effort and become more about encounter. What You’ll Learn: Prayer is a Relationship: Discover how prayer deepens when it becomes less about what you do and more about what God does in you. Our Image of God is not God: Learn how our assumptions about God can limit our prayer life, and how questioning these assumptions can open us to a deeper connection. Genuine Spiritual Growth Prefers the Ordinary: Find out why spiritual growth often happens in the mundane moments of life, not just during dramatic or exciting prayer experiences. Prayer vs. Introspection: Understand the fine line between talking to God and simply talking to yourself in prayer, and how to move beyond self-focused prayer. Beginners Try Too Hard in Prayer: Explore how prayer matures from a laborious effort to a natural, flowing encounter with God, and why it's important to let go of early-stage striving. Join us as we dive into these insights and learn how to deepen your communion with God, even in the dry seasons of prayer. Recovering What We Have Lost as Writers 2 Kings 6:1-7 In this little story tucked away in the Old Testament, we see several nuggets we can apply to our lives and our writing. Like the young prophet in the story, we may find ourselves losing our “cutting edge” and feeling powerless.  This group of prophets were building a new meeting place and insisted that their leader, Elisha, accompany them down to the Jordan River where they would cut down trees for the new facility. They were busy doing good work until one of them lost his ax head which sank to the bottom of the Jordan. At times, we can also be busy doing good work until we lose our cutting edge. In our case, we can refer to the power of God as our cutting edge. It's the ability to get the job done most efficiently rather than relying on our own strength. Imagine trying to cut down a tree with only a wooden ax handle. It would be like our flesh trying to cut into the spiritual realm which is something bigger and more powerful than what we possess without the power of God. As Kingdom Writers, we need the ax head of the Spirit to accomplish writing that makes a dent and that's able to cut right to the heart of the matter in someone's life.  Listen to this episode as CJ shares 4 steps to recover our cutting edge based on this Old Testament story. Do You Feel Rusty in Your Writing? “We must all either wear out or rust out, every one of us. My choice is to wear out.” - Theodore Roosevelt “There is a time for everything. We wait on God to renew our batteries, and then when they are up to full power, we turn them loose into the work of God.” - A.W. Tozer “Christians are like farm implements. Farm machinery seldom wears out. If you keep your machinery up, you can use it summer in and summer out until it becomes obsolete. The idle machine sitting in dampness will go to pieces in one season, but that same machine used for 10 years will only make it shine. One year of sitting around sulking will do more to rust your soul than 100 years of hard work, if God granted you that many years” - A.W. Tozer We can easily apply the above quotes to our own writing. There's certainly a time to rest but we must be careful not to rust. Writing is a skill that must be practiced and refined over time. Staying consistent with a writing habit will help “keep our machinery up” so we can use it year after year. As little as 15 minutes a day can go a long way to preventing us from rusting out as Kingdom writers. Ecclesiastes 11:4 (NLT) says, “Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant. If they watch every cloud, they never harvest.” Are we waiting for perfect conditions in our writing? If so, we may be in for a long wait which could allow our writing to become rusty. God is calling us to plant our words into the lives of others for His glory.  Let's keep our pens active and the ink flowing, all for the purpose of fulfilling God's call on our lives. The Right Kind of Boasting In this episode of the Kingdom Writers Podcast, we look at the theme of boasting in the Lord rather than a boasting that originates from the flesh.  We look at Paul's teachings from 2 Corinthians 10:13-18. It seems that there were some people trying to influence the church in Corinth and taking credit for the ministry taking place there. Paul will not be pulled into a competition with others but simply points to the work they did in planting the church there.  Paul's desire was to see the ministry extended beyond the borders of what they did while living among the church in Corinth. He wanted nothing more than for this church to grow and mature to the point where they were multiplying beyond their local area. As writers, we have opportunities to see our borders extended through the words we write. Our books can go far and wide in their influence and reach people we wouldn't be able to in person. Paul quotes Jeremiah 9:24 to emphasize the right kind of boasting. We get a little more of a full picture in verses 23-24, “This is what the Lord says: “Don't let the wise boast in their wisdom, or the powerful boast in their power, or the rich boast in their riches. But those who wish to boast should boast in this alone: that they truly know me and understand that I am the Lord who demonstrates unfailing love and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth, and that I delight in these things. I, the Lord, have spoken!” In our world of constant self-promotion through social media, these verses cause us to always be intentional about pointing to the Lord as our Source of creativity and inspiration. He is the reason we call ourselves Kingdom Writers. It's a privilege to even be called children of God. As we encourage our fellow Kingdom Writers, we are also recognizing what the Lord is doing in and through them. As followers of Jesus, we are on the same team. At the end of the day, we can boast in the Lord for all He continues to do in our writing! Do The Work 2 Timothy 4:5 - “As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.” Paul gives young Timothy four things to do in this powerful little verse… Be sober-minded - In a world where others may be losing their minds, we are to remain clear in our thinking and focused on the things God has for us Endure suffering - Whether from other people or from our spiritual enemy, we are told to endure which is the ability to withstand pain or hardship Do the work - In Timothy's case, Paul specifically instructs him to do the work of an evangelist. As Kingdom writers, we might be instructed to “do the work of a writer.” Fulfill Your Ministry - Whatever God has called us to do, we are to complete that task and fulfill what He's called us to do. Fulfill the ministry of writing that book that needs to get into specific hands the Lord wants to encourage What does it mean to “do the work”? We'll look at this topic as it pertains to the Kingdom writer. If there's one thing we've learned over the years about the writing life, it's that a person needs to have a passion for writing. This passion is fueled by the God we desire to partner with in order to write lasting words of impact. After all, the Kingdom writer is one who is gifted and called by God. The prophet Jeremiah describes our calling with these words, “But if I say I'll never mention the Lord or speak in his name, his word burns in my heart like a fire. It's like a fire in my bones! I am worn out trying to hold it in! I can't do it!” (Jeremiah 20:9 NLT) Can you relate to feeling this way? Are the words inside you like a fire in your bones until you're able to get those words onto paper? But like many things in life, sometimes our passion and fire can grow dim. Somewhere along the way, we forget about the love we once had for the craft of writing. Instead, we become focused on the destination or the finished product and become impatient when things aren't lining up the way we want. Listen in as we talk about recovering our first love for Jesus and a renewed passion in our writing. Hagar & Ishmael were sent away Genesis 21:14-19 Is it possible that in her pain & despair, Hagar assumes the worst-that God is not with her and that He will not help her, that He doesn't see her suffering-and that this perspective blinds her to the well in front of her? Is it possible that in our own trials and pain, we let that same lie sneak in? Maybe this time He won't come to my aid-and my eyes become so fixed on that lie that I'm blinded to the grace and joy right in front of me, all around me, or perhaps right around the corner?  We need God to open our eyes to ideas and possibilities for our books even when our resources have been used up and we feel like we're dying in the desert. He wants to inject hope into our writing like a cool glass of water in the midst of drought.  As you may recall, Hagar found herself in the desert more than once. In chapter 16, near a spring in the desert as a pregnant runaway, she encountered the angel of the Lord and declared, “You are the God who sees me” (El-roi) You & I will also find ourselves in the desert more than once. And more than once, the God who sees us will be more than faithful to provide for our deepest need as we cry out to Him.   The Power of Having a Weekly Business Meeting with God Learn the simple steps you can take to implement a weekly business meeting with God. Jesus's earthly father Joseph was an unsung hero. Joseph displayed obedience and played a key role in God's plan played out through Jesus. Joseph can sometimes be in the background, blending in without much notice.  After receiving dream after dream (Matthew 1:20; 2:13-14; 2:19-21; 2:22) from the Lord, Joseph had a choice to obey which he did in every instance. He chose to walk this unexpected journey with his wife Mary and their “God in the flesh” son. God was and still is more than capable of protecting us like He did the baby Jesus from being snuffed out by the enemy. He's more than capable of protecting the Kingdom writer and the books they are called to birth into the world. May we listen to the Lord, whether in our dreams or any other means God wants to intervene in our lives. Like Joseph, we may find ourselves in a story that we never expected and wondering what the Lord has up His sleeve. And like Joseph the carpenter, we can humbly live out our lives as a different kind of carpenter where we build things with the raw material of words and ideas from the Lord. Joseph had no idea what kind of adventure he was signing up for…and neither did we.   The Power of Having a Weekly Business Meeting with God Learn the simple steps you can take to implement a weekly business meeting with God. 2 Kings 22 & 23 King Josiah's reforms all started with finding a book in the Temple. The High Priest Hilkiah found the Book of the Law which had been lost for years.  Josiah was 26 when this Book of the Law was found and he repented when he began reading what was contained in the Law. He then sent a delegation to the Temple to inquire of the Lord. The prophet Huldah shared a message from the Lord that judgment was coming but that it would come after Josiah's lifetime. Josiah could have coasted into retirement and done nothing but he decided to do everything possible to help his people follow the Lord. His reforms led to a great revival among the people. It all began with a book that was lost and found. How will the Lord use our books both now and in the future? The address issues related to God and time and the way that learning suggests a deficiency in God's knowledge. They also talk about the various times God appears to change his mind and the way conditional and unconditional decisions play into the portrayal of God, particularly in the Old Testament. Henri is a ship builder who tears up his boats just before finishing. Some think he is crazy but one recognizes Henri is afraid of the water. He likes boats but is afraid of going out on the water. He tears up the boat so he doesn't actually need to launch the boat. - Cannery Row by John Steinbeck What are you and I afraid of as writers? Matthew 14:22-33 – Read and stop at various points along the way “He alone has spread out the heavens and marches on the waves of the sea.” – Job 9:8 “You rule the oceans. 1 Corinthians 16:8-9 “In the meantime, I will be staying here at Ephesus until the Festival of Pentecost. There is a wide-open door for a great work here, although many oppose me.” (NLT)  “But I will stay on at Ephesus until Pentecost, because a great door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many who oppose me.” (NIV) “But I will tarry in Ephesus until Pentecost. For a great and effective door has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.” (NKJV) “For the present, I'm staying right here in Ephesus. A huge door of opportunity for good work has opened up here. (There is also mushrooming opposition.)” (The Message) We can all get behind a wide-open door of opportunity. It makes me think of an offensive line in a football game creating a huge hole for the running back to go through. A TV commentator might say something like, “Man, you could have driven a semi-truck through there!” There are some doors in life that God opens to us that are just too obvious not to walk through. We want to hang around where God's hand is obviously at work, especially if we can play an active role in it with things like our call to write. But what about the opposition and adversary part? “And what value was there in fighting wild beasts—those people of Ephesus—if there will be no resurrection from the dead?” – 1 Corinthians 15:32a You can read about a key story regarding that opposition Paul is referring to in Acts 19:23-41. A silversmith named Demetrius stirred up a riot by accusing Paul and his companions of trying to make their god Artemis irrelevant and diminish its influence. At the root of this was the threat of losing business and livelihood. But why would Paul want to hang around a place like this? 1.) Paul considered it a privilege to suffer for Christ (Philippians 1:29) 2.) Opposition is a sign that the work (writing) we do is being effective. I would even argue that the more fruitful and effective our work for the Lord, the fiercer the opposition. Paul is such a good model for us as Kingdom Writers. We need not be discouraged when we face opposition from an enemy and a world opposed to our Kingdom message. Perhaps we can form a muscle memory response of considering it a privilege and blessing when opposition arises. As priestly pens in the hands of the Author of Life, let's continue being on the lookout for those wide-open doors of opportunity!   The Power of Having a Weekly Business Meeting with God Learn the simple steps you can take to implement a weekly business meeting with God. When we think of refreshment, we might think of ice cream, popsicles, or snow cones during the summer heat. Or perhaps some iced tea or lemonade on a sweltering day. I would like us to think of our writing and the books we publish as another form of refreshment. Let's look at a little verse tucked away in Proverbs to help add to this concept. Proverbs 25:13 in various translations… “Trustworthy messengers refresh like snow in summer. They revive the spirit of their employer.” – NLT “Like a snow-cooled drink at harvest time is a trustworthy messenger to the one who sends him; he refreshes the spirit of his master.” – NIV “Like the cold of snow in the time of harvest is a faithful messenger to those who send him; he refreshes the soul of his masters.” – ESV “Reliable friends who do what they say are like cool drinks in sweltering heat—refreshing!” – The Message “Trustworthy Messengers” “Faithful Messengers” “Reliable Friends” We would all agree that the more valuable an item or message is that's being sent, the more refreshing its delivery. There's a difference between waiting for an order of stickers compared to a $10,000 cashier's check you're expecting. In both examples, we are hoping for a trustworthy, faithful, and reliable delivery. But there's a greater refreshment or gratefulness that takes place when the cashier's check arrives safely. But notice who is most refreshed in these verses – It's the master or employer. You and I have been given a valuable message to carry to a world that's sweltering under a heavy burden. Not only will our words be a refreshment to those who read them…but also a refreshment to our Master upon their delivery. 1 Chronicles 28 In this chapter, we see King David commissioning his son Solomon to build the Temple. This is a project David wanted to complete but God had other plans. Instead, David's son would undertake the work of seeing it completed. David had very specific things he wanted his son to think about and do… V. 9 - “And Solomon, my son, learn to know the God of your ancestors intimately. Worship and serve him with your whole heart and a willing mind…” Everything would flow out of this intimacy with the Lord. Knowing God sets everything else in the right direction, including our writing that we undertake for the Lord. V. 10 - “So take this seriously. The Lord has chosen you to build a Temple as his sanctuary. Be strong, and do the work.” Our call to write words that outlive us should be taken seriously. Like David said to Solomon, Jesus tells us Kingdom writers to be strong and do the work.  V. 19 - “Every part of this plan,” David told Solomon, “was given to me in writing from the hand of the Lord.” God has a specific plan for the books He is calling us to write. He will lead us one sentence at a time. V. 20 - “Then David continued, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Don't be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. He will see to it that all the work related to the Temple of the Lord is finished correctly.” This is similar to God telling Joshua to be strong and courageous as he leads Israel into the Promised Land. In the same way, God tells us to be strong and courageous as Kingdom writers. He won't forsake us. He will see to it that the work related to our books is finished correctly. When we read the story of the wedding at Cana and Jesus turning water into wine (John 2:1-11) we see several characters we can identify with.  Mary shows us to expect Jesus to do big things, but not to tell Him how to do them The servants show us to obey Jesus without question and to the “brim”, and to enjoy being part of the miracle The bridegroom shows us that Jesus loves to save the day and give extravagant gifts The master of the feast shows us that Jesus saves the best for last The disciples show us that this miracle was for real Regarding the servants filling the 6 stone pots to the brim, Charles Spurgeon said this is the pattern for our faith and obedience… “When you are bidden to believe in him, believe in him up to the brim. When you are told to love him, love him up to the brim. When you are commanded to serve him, serve him up to the brim.” We can add, when you are called to write words that glorify God, write those words up to the brim.   The Power of Having a Weekly Business Meeting with God Learn the simple steps you can take to implement a weekly business meeting with God. “Yet you are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel.” - Psalm 22:3 (NLT) “But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.” - Psalm 22:3 (KJV) The Hebrew word for “inhabitest” is yawshab which means “to sit” The thought here is that God dwells and reveals Himself where His people praise Him One Japanese translation of this verse reads, “When God's people praise Him, He brings a big chair and sits there.” “Praise creates a dwelling place for God in man's present situation.” - Jack Hayford Before each writing session, we can lift up praises to our God and prepare a place for Him to sit next to us and guide our writing. Why? 3 Possible Reasons We Experience Spiritual & Writing Drought 1.) We disobey God…An example from the Israelites – Deuteronomy 28:22-23 – “The Lord will strike you with wasting diseases, fever, and inflammation, with scorching heat and drought, and with blight and mildew. These disasters will pursue you until you die. The skies above will be as unyielding as bronze, and the earth beneath will be as hard as iron.” 2.) We may be lacking nourishment in God's Word and prayer – Psalm 63:1 – “O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.” 3.) We might be going from one season to another – 1 Kings 17:5-9 – “So Elijah did as the Lord told him and camped beside Kerith Brook, east of the Jordan. The ravens brought him bread and meat each morning and evening, and he drank from the brook. But after a while the brook dried up, for there was no rainfall anywhere in the land. Then the Lord said to Elijah, “Go and live in the village of Zarephath, near the city of Sidon. I have instructed a widow there to feed you.” Elijah was being prepared for his grand showdown with the priests of Baal on Mount Carmel. • 2 Chronicles 7:13-14 Talking to King Solomon – “At times I might shut up the heavens so that no rain falls, or command grasshoppers to devour your crops, or send plagues among you. Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.” • Acts 3:19-20 (The Message) - “Now it's time to change your ways! Turn to face God so he can wipe away your sins, pour out showers of blessing to refresh you, and send you the Messiah he prepared for you, namely, Jesus” See the pictures CJ referenced here: https://apnews.com/article/california-reservoir-levels-winter-storms-da455706e614b95fb49d98a211f788d3   The Power of Having a Weekly Business Meeting with God Learn the simple steps you can take to implement a weekly business meeting with God. Join CJ in this Mentoring Moment as we focus on the word “Retreat.”  A couple meanings of the word retreat include, “A place of privacy or safety; refuge.” “A period of group withdrawal for prayer, meditation, study, or instruction.” In Mark 6:30-32 (NIV) we read these words of Jesus, “The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “COME WITH ME by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place.”  Jesus is inviting us to “come with Him” by ourselves to a quiet place. Of course, there are certainly times when we aim to get lots of writing done but there may be times during these virtual writing retreats when Jesus simply wants us to meet with Him and get on board with the things He desires to do in and through us.   The Power of Having a Weekly Business Meeting with God Learn the simple steps you can take to implement a weekly business meeting with God. The smoke on the altar was probably still smoldering when he found himself fleeing for his life into the wilderness. It seems Jezebel put a hefty price on his head and vowed revenge for the 400 prophets of Baal who were killed at Elijah's command. Now this mighty man of God is feeling drained-physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. He was feeling so low that he even asked the Lord to take his life. Turns out he simply needed to eat something. We as Kingdom writers cannot afford to go without spiritual nourishment daily. In Matthew 2, we read about some “wisemen” who traveled from the East to bring gifts along with their worship of this newborn King of the Jews. Scholars believe they came from Babylon (modern day Baghdad, Iraq) or perhaps Persia (modern day Iran). In either case, they would have traveled 900-1200 miles by camel and arrived when Jesus was anywhere from 6 months to 2 years old. You can imagine how excited they would have been to finally arrive at their destination. We read these words in Matthew 2:10-11, “When they saw the star, they were filled with joy! They entered the house and saw the child with his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.” In hindsight, each of these wisemen would have said it was worth the trip to see this newborn King Jesus with their own eyes. As Kingdom Writers, we will also look back on our lives and say our writing journey was worth the trip, regardless of how arduous. Habakkuk was a prophet who had some complaints to air out to God. He wasn't happy with the way his fellow Jewish people were living and he let the Lord know. The Lord replies to this minor prophet by telling him He indeed had a plan for His people and He would use the cruel Babylonians to accomplish His purposes.  Now Habakkuk has several questions regarding God's method of discipline. After asking his series of questions, we read these words, “I will climb up to my watchtower and stand at my guardpost. There I will wait to see what the Lord says and how he will answer my complaint.” (Habakkuk 2:1 NLT) We all have complaints and questions as we journey through life. Habakkuk gives us an invitation to go back and forth with God to see what He's up to in the world. But like Habakkuk, we must also be prepared to wait patiently for the Lord's reply. In the end, like this prophet, we will find ourselves amazed and ready to fall to our faces in worship before this God who knows what He's doing. What difference will my book make in the world? What difference can one person make? Is my life really contributing very much? “Every waterfall begins with a single drop of water” One single drop of iodine will purify 8oz of water One single bee can pollinate as many as 5000 flowers in a day! The lifespan of a bee is 30-60 days which means one bee could pollinate 150,000-300,000 flowers in their brief life. One bee will produce one tablespoon of honey in their lifetime. There's a reason we use the phrase “busy bee”. “I looked for someone who might rebuild the wall of righteousness that guards the land. I searched for someone to stand in the gap in the wall so I wouldn't have to destroy the land, but I found no one.” – Ezekiel 22:30 (NLT) God was looking for one person then and He still looks for one person today to join Him in what He's doing on the earth. One little boy shared his lunch of bread and fish with Jesus…which Jesus then fed 5000 with. We need to shift from a limiting mindset to a limitless mindset. Scripture: Ezra 3:10-13; Zechariah 4:6-10 After nearly 80 years of being in exile, the Jewish people would return to their homeland and begin rebuilding the Temple that had been destroyed by the Babylonians. After the foundation had been completed, those who were old enough to remember the glory of Solomon's temple began to wail and bemoan this newer version due to its modesty. The newer generation celebrated the accomplishment and rejoiced over the work being done. Perhaps you have felt like you're returning to your writing project after being in exile for years. Maybe you've been comparing your work to that of others or the work you accomplished long ago. Like His message through the prophet Zechariah regarding this foundation being laid, we can also take comfort by applying these words to where we find ourselves… “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel's hand.” - Zechariah 4:10a No matter where you find yourself in the writing and marketing journey, take time to celebrate the foundation being laid and the progress God has helped bring thus far! Ezra 3:10-13, 4:1-5 Making Progress After receiving permission from King Cyrus of Persia to return to their homeland, the Jewish people began rebuilding the Temple that had been destroyed over 70 years previous. After reaching the milestone of finishing the foundation, this was a cause to celebrate and thank God for the progress being made. But not everyone was so easily impressed. The old timers who had seen the splendor of the previous Temple began weeping and bemoaning the modest beginning. They were comparing this new version to Solomon's version. But those who had no other frame of reference were overjoyed with the progress being made. I have to believe God was joining in with those who were overjoyed at the foundation being laid. He doesn't bemoan our work and compare it to that of others. He rejoices in the progress being made.  When we see the slightest amount of progress being made in our books, we can pause and rejoice that God helped us. We are making progress one sentence at a time toward the goal of finishing the work God has called us to. We also know there are real enemies who are working to prevent our progress. They seek to discourage and intimidate us, hoping we'll cease the work. But like those who led the rebuilding effort of this Temple, we can say to our enemies, “You have no part in this work we have received permission to move forward on.” With God's help, the work will continue and progress will be made one day at a time! As Christian writers, we have a target on our backs. There's a spiritual enemy who wants to thwart our attempts to write words that outlast us. If you've been writing for God's glory for any length of time, you've no doubt experienced those days when it seems like you're being triple-teamed by demonic resistance. It wasn't long after King David (another Kingdom writer) took the throne when he faced resistance from a neighboring enemy, “When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king over all Israel, they mobilized all their forces to capture him. But David was told they were coming, so he marched out to meet them.” (1 Chronicles 14:8) In a similar way, we could say, “When the enemy of our souls heard that [Insert your name] became a Kingdom writer, they mobilized all their forces to capture him/her.” What happened next is a great blueprint for each of us to follow. The first thing David did was ask the Lord what he should do. He knew God was the true King. This sensitivity to the Lord's leading led to the following result, “So David and his troops went up to Baal-perazim and defeated the Philistines there. “God did it!” David exclaimed. “He used me to burst through my enemies like a raging flood!” So they named that place Baal-perazim (which means “the Lord who bursts through”).” (1 Chronicles 14:11, Emphasis mine) The Power of Having a Weekly Business Meeting with God Learn the simple steps you can take to implement a weekly business meeting with God. Remember the wonder and excitement you felt when you first realized God might be calling you to write a book? You began to prayerfully brainstorm ideas, stories, and concepts that could be woven into this book that would impact many. There was no limit to where God could take this body of work. Over time, the book truly begins to feel like work as you face your own doubts, writer's block, criticism, spiritual attack, and fatigue. The rose-colored glasses come off as you realize this book is going to take blood, sweat and tears to birth. Though some of that initial wonder and excitement has been dampened, you can't shake the words you heard God whisper: “I'm inviting you to write a book that will bring glory to My name.” In John 4:46-54, we read the story of a government official from Capernaum who found himself desperate for a miracle. His young son is dying and getting worse by the minute. He hears that a man named Jesus is within walking distance…that is, if you consider 24 miles to be walking distance. Without hesitation, the desperate father makes his way to Cana to seek out the traveling Teacher. “Lord, please come now before my little boy dies.” You can sense the parental anguish in his voice. So many hopes and dreams for his child hang in the balance. Can you relate to the man's cry for help?
