Episode 335: Take Your Place Take your place!Enough of the complaints.Enough of the constant criticism of others. It's time to take your placeYour God-ordained place in His plan.Find your place and fill it.No part of the human body is useless, and neither are you.Take your place and contribute to the growth of the body!In his letter to the Corinthians, Paul uses the analogy of the human body to describe the Church. Each part has a unique role. Each one matters. Each one is essential.“Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.”— 1 Corinthians 12:12 (NIV)So too are we—different in our gifts, talents, and callings, yet united in Christ.Toward the end of 1 Corinthians 12, Paul points us to a more excellent way—The highest and choicest of all graces: unselfish love.So as you take your place in God's plan, let it be with love.Use your gift to build up, not tear down.Remember:You have a place. You have a role. You have a purpose.Take your place!
2 Samuel 6 & Luke 23:34David was excited—jumping and dancing excitedly for the arrival of the ark of God. Free in his worship, lost in the joy of the Lord, he expressed his love for God without reservation. The presence of the Lord had returned to the heart of Israel, and David could not contain his gratitude. But while David rejoiced, Michal, his wife, watched from a window. She saw his unrestrained worship, and instead of joining in the celebration, she filled her heart with scorn. She despised him, judged him, and accused him of acting shamefully before others. Her thoughts toward David were not shaped by love, understanding, or reverence for God. They were shaped by pride, comparison, and possibly even bitterness from her past.David's response was clear: “It was before the Lord.” His worship was never about impressing people—it was about honoring the One who had chosen him, the One who had been faithful. David understood something Michal missed: worship is an act of the heart, and when it is genuine, it will not always look dignified to others.Michal's story serves as a warning—when we allow our thoughts about others to be filled with negativity, judgment, or resentment, we close our hearts to the blessings of God. The Bible records that she remained childless for the rest of her life. Whether this was a physical consequence or a spiritual one, the truth remains: a critical heart bears no fruit. So today, ask yourself: What are you filling your thoughts with when you see others worship, succeed, or express their love for God? Are you rejoicing with them, or are you secretly judging them? The enemy wants to turn our hearts toward criticism, but God calls us to celebrate His presence and His work in others.Let's choose to fill our hearts with love, gratitude, and worship—just like David. Also just like Jesus did saying - Father forgive them for they do not know what they are doing. Because when we keep our focus on the Lord, there's no room for resentment butGod's love.
Episode 333: You Are Made For MoreMy younger son and I always look forward to spotting the first car with the latest registration number each year. Do you know how car registrations work? New cars are released twice a year—one batch in February and another in September. For example, this February, cars will have a registration ending in “25,” and come September, the updated ones will have “75.” This cycle happens every year, with manufacturers continually upgrading their cars to make them better and better. It got me thinking about how God designed us for constant growth and improvement. Proverbs 4:18 says, “The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.” Just like car manufacturers upgrade their models each year, God wants us to grow spiritually, mentally, physically, and financially. There shouldn't be a “better yesterday.” Each day and each year should bring us closer to who God created us to be.So, how can we upgrade ourselves? For example, spiritually, I'm committed to studying the Bible and connecting with God more in prayer. I reflect on what I study, meditate on it, and intentionally apply His Word to my life. This has helped me draw closer to God, understand His mind and thoughts for me more clearly, and also equip me to help others around me grow in Christ.Physically, I'm trying to exercise more and take care of the body He has given me. I'm also refining my financial plans and being intentional about my relationships. What about you? In what ways can you improve and keep shining brighter and brighter in Christ?God has called us to grow and move upward in every area of our lives. Let's embrace this journey together!
Episode 332: What is good for someone might be out of context to your assignment I once covered English session for a colleague. The learning objective was centred around Homophone. For better understanding, A homophone is a word that sounds the same as another word but has a different meaning, spelling, or both. For example:-Sea and see-Right and writeAlthough they are pronounced the same, their meanings and uses in sentences different. The task was to highlight words that were wrongly spelt in a comprehension and replace them with the correct words that also sound alike. During the comprehension session, One of my learners struggled to understand why the word knight - K-N-I-G-H-T was wrongly spelt. I smiled and advised him to read through the comprehension as the word ‘knight' in itself was right. However, as an homophone , the word ‘knight' was written out of context as the right word is ‘night' with NIGHT. This reminded me of the charge or admonition we were given in Phil 4:8-9“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.”Philippians 4:8-9 NKJVWhat is good for someone might be out of context to your assignment or goals. What is right for others may not be right for you,Let God's Word be a yardstick for every decision you make . Sieve your thoughts and idea with the Word of God. Ask yourself - Is it noble? Is it just?Is it pure? Is it lovely? Is it of good report? Is it praiseworthy? if it ticks all go, then go for it? Let us pray - Father help my listener and I to sieve our thoughts with God's word so we can always live lives that make you proud in Jesus name
Episode 331: God has Gone Ahead of You this Year 2025 God says “I am in your tomorrow”“I am in your tomorrow”Do not worryDo not be anxious I just want to encourage you today that God says “Live everyday for me; live each day for Me. do not worry about tomorrow. I am in your tomorrow”So I'm here today to inform you not to worry. Do not be anxious! Father had gone ahead of you this year 2025Jesus admonished us three times in Matt 6:25,28,31““Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?”“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin;”“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?' or ‘What shall we drink?' or ‘What shall we wear?'”Matthew 6:25, 28, 31 NKJVFrom Matt 6:24 - 29 mentioned our needs - He is aware of all your needs - the basic and higher needs. He is aware of your physiological needs. He is aware of your need for safety and security. He is aware of your need to be loved and to belong. He is aware for self esteem and self actualisation as explained by Abraham Maslow the American psychologist. Remember God had gone ahead of you this year 2025He is in your tomorrow Live everyday for Him, live each day for Him. Do not worry about tomorrow.Because Father says - “I am in your tomorrow”
I went to the kitchen early this morning and discovered that the whole worktop, sink and cooker area have been properly cleaned up after use by our young adult. I was impressed for couple of reasons-The day before, he has been reminded again to properly clean up after himself-He washed the dirty bowl left overnight. Impressive right! What came to mind was “appreciate him for the effort he put into the cleaning today” Of course, I sent a message to him before I left for work. Whilst on my way to work, with one day left for 2024 to end, and as I round up this year's 2024 Detox with Abi podcast, I reflected on the ‘appreciation' prompts and the message I later sent to my son. It is easy to just focus on the several reasons not to appreciate people around us. I want to implore you to be intentional about being thankful, as we round up this year 2024. Appreciate your familyAppreciate your friendsAppreciate your acquaintances who in ne way or the other supported you through your journey this year. Send a thoughtful message to them. If you can, send a little gift, it is the heart that matters. Most importantly, thank God; even if you feel you haven't seen your desired changes. Thank Him for the gift of life. Thank Him for His life that dwells in youThank Him for satisfying you with His lifeThank Him for unseen battles He has fought for you; and still fighting In rounding up, I would love to leave you with these Scriptural versesPsalms 22:3- But You are holy, Enthroned in the praises of Israel.Psalm 91:1*” He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the AlmightyRemember God dwells in the praises of His people, as you are intentional to live thankful lifestyle, you will continue to find refuge and rest in His presence.Let us pray----If you have been encouraged, inspired and challenged by my podcasts, please subscribe and forward Detox with Abi to family and friends. Episode 328: How Healthy is Your Mind?
Episode 327: You are Satisfied with the Life of God“With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.””Psalms 91:16 NKJV“And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.”Romans 8:10-11 NKJV
Today's podcast - The Secret Behind my Smile, is to encourage someone to keep smiling…“But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness,”Galatians 5:22 AMP
Have you ever wondered why some believers struggles to truly live a successful and victorious lifestyle in Christ, as God-ordained? Could there be a missing link? What are we doing wrong?Could we be doing something wrong? These questions bring me back to a Maths session I had with one of my learners learning BIDMAS. BIDMAS is a mathematical order of operation based on using operators of Brackets, Index, Division, Multiplication, Addition and Subtraction for calculations, in order, from left to right. Notice the word - “in order” What was impressed upon my heart was ‘doing things right.' As a believer, the order of operation for living a victorious lifestyle in Christ, as ordained by God isi) To receiving the gift of salvation by act of confession and belief. ”If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.“Romans 10:9-10 NLT ii) Being intentional to grow up into the fullness of your salvation by studying and meditating, and praying God's Word. I love the way the NLT states it ”Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment,“1 Peter 2:2 NLT Doing this, you will be mature enough to know the difference between good and evil. ”For everyone who lives on milk is [doctrinally inexperienced and] unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a spiritual infant. But solid food is for the [spiritually] mature, whose senses are trained by practice to distinguish between what is morally good and what is evil.“Hebrews 5:13-14 AMPiii) Connect with other believers as you sharpen each other's mind iv) You can not but share the life and love of God you enjoy with others, with this order. In rounding up, no matter how life seems complicated like some BIDMAS calculations, remember the victory you have in Christ! Remember who and whose you are in Christ. Remember your identity in Christ. Dwell in His Word, remember to connect with other God-fearing and loving believers, and also remember to share God's love you enjoy to others.
It Takes Power! It takes power to follows God's ways It take power to love God's teachings It take power to thrill to God's Word It take power to think about God's Word day and night It take power to habitually meditate on God's Word It takes power to be quiet It takes power to say ‘no' to It takes power to reject the advice of evil people It take power to arise and shine It take power to stand up and shine brightly in the darkness of this world I've got good news for you- God has given unto is the promise of His Power- Holy Spirit Jesus mentioned this in John 14:16-17 when He was about to die for humanity.. He said the following to His troubled disciples. ”And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor—Counselor, Strengthener, Standby), to be with you forever— the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive [and take to its heart] because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He (the Holy Spirit) remains with you continually and will be in you.“ John 14:16-17 And after his death and resurrection by the power of the Holy Spirit, showing himself to his disciples and speaking to them about the kingdom of God. He said “The Father has made you a promise which I told you about before. Wait here to receive this promise. But the Holy Spirit will come to you. Then you will receive power. You will be my witnesses—in Jerusalem, in all of Judea, in Samaria, and in every part of the world.”“ Vs 8 again- But the Holy Spirit will come to you. Then you will receive power. You will be my witnesses—in Jerusalem, in all of Judea, in Samaria, and in every part of the world.”“ The Acts 1:8 ICB It is the Holy Spirit that gives power because He is the power of God. It is important to know that the Power of God is given to us to accomplish God's will and plan, not my plan So, how do I access the Power of God Simple accept the gift of God - Jesus. Of course it takes FAITH in God's Word to ”For everyone born of God is victorious and overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has conquered and overcome the world—our [continuing, persistent] faith [in Jesus the Son of God].“ 1 John 5:4 AMP --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/abimbola-arawande/message

During a recent conversation, the other person made a comment that I knew I had never said. Surprised, I responded by saying, "I never said that." He then said, "I feel like that's what you said. He allowed his feelings to interpret what I said. Interesting right! In a world filled with lies and deceit, it can be easy to be swayed and led astray from the truth of God. As believers, it is crucial that we stand firm and do not allow anything to take away God's truth from our hearts. Ephesians 6:14 reminds us to "stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist." Just as a soldier puts on armor before going into battle, we must also put on the armor of God in order to stand against the schemes of the enemy. One of the pieces of this spiritual armor is the belt of truth. The belt was a crucial piece of a soldier's armor, holding everything together and providing support. In the same way, the truth of God's Word should be the foundation that holds us together and gives us strength in the midst of spiritual battles. When we allow lies and deception to creep into our hearts and minds, we become vulnerable to the attacks of the enemy. Just as a soldier without a belt would be ill-prepared for battle, we are also ill-prepared when we do not have the truth of God's Word firmly rooted in our hearts. It is so easy to be swayed by the lies of the world and the enemy, but we must make a conscious effort to guard our hearts and minds with the truth of God's Word. We must constantly be on guard, buckling the belt of truth around our waist and refusing to let anything take away God's truth from our hearts. So let us stand firm in the truth of God's Word, knowing that it is our source of strength and protection in the midst of spiritual battles. Do not allow anything to sway you from the truth, but instead, cling to it with all your might and let it be the foundation that guides and sustains you in all things. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/abimbola-arawande/message
One of my younger students is extremely vigilant about protecting his passwords. He goes to great lengths to safeguard the passwords for his games and laptops, ensuring that they are kept secure. In fact, this level of caution is a smart practice for everyone, particularly given the prevalent cybersecurity threats. Coming to today's theme- preserving God's holiness In Deuteronomy 7, the Lord commands the Israelites to destroy all the idols and pagan altars in the land they are entering, emphasising that anything or anyone who replaces God is an idol. This instruction is a powerful reminder for us today that we must also be vigilant in guarding against anything that tries to take the place of God in our lives by preserving God's holiness in our lives- heart and deeds. Preserving God's holiness is a crucial aspect of our faith. In 1 Corinthians 10:14, the apostle Paul warns against idolatry, urging believers to flee from worshipping anything other than the one true God. He emphasizes the importance of keeping God at the center of our lives and not giving in to the temptation to elevate anything or anyone else to a place of supremacy. Similarly, in Colossians 3:5, Paul instructs believers to put to death any sinful desires and behaviors, including idolatry. He emphasizes the need to rid ourselves of anything that stands in the way of living a life that is pleasing to God. Preserving God's holiness requires us to be constantly on guard against anything that threatens to take His rightful place in our hearts. Let us heed the warnings of Scripture and strive to keep God at the center of our lives, rejecting anything that would seek to replace Him. By doing so, we can ensure that His holiness is preserved and honored in all that we do. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/abimbola-arawande/message

Recently, I learned a valuable moral from studying the opposing attitudes and behaviors of Mariam and Aaron towards Moses and the consequences that followed. I hope that this lesson blesses you as well. In Numbers 12 of the Bible, Mariam and Aaron began to criticize Moses because of his Cushite wife, as he had married a Cushite woman. The Lord heard their complaints and summoned all three of them to the tent of meeting. Mariam and Aaron questioned Moses' authority, asking if the Lord had only spoken through him and not through them. It is worth noting that Aaron, Mariam, and Moses were siblings who all played significant roles in the history of the Israelites. Aaron, as the older brother, was appointed as the first high priest of Israel, while Mariam was their sister and a prophetess. Moses, the youngest of the three, was chosen by God to lead the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt and into the Promised Land. Perhaps Aaron and Mariam felt entitled to criticize and judge Moses due to their own significant roles. However, God heard their complaints and summoned all three to the tent of meeting. As they came forward, God spoke to them, stating that He reveals Himself to prophets through visions and dreams, but with Moses, He speaks face to face, clearly and without riddles. God questioned why Aaron and Mariam were not afraid to speak against His servant Moses. God's anger was evident, and when the cloud lifted from above the tent, Mariam's skin became leprous and as white as snow. Aaron witnessed this and immediately pleaded with Moses for her healing. Moses, being humble, cried out to the Lord on behalf of his sister. In response, the Lord said to Moses, "If her father had spit in her face, would she not have been in disgrace for seven days? Confine her outside the camp for seven days, and then she can be brought back." Thus, Mariam was confined outside the camp for seven days, and the Israelites did not continue their journey until she was brought back. My takeaway from this story is the following: Lessons to learn from Moses: 1. The Bible does not mention that Moses reported Aaron and Mariam's complaints to God. Instead, God fought Moses' battle for him. 2. God recognized and considered Moses because of his faithfulness and reliability in leading His people. Lessons to learn from Aaron and Mariam's behavior: 1. As believers, we are called to a position of glory. Let us not allow unnecessary battles or criticisms to push us into shame or disgrace. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/abimbola-arawande/message

Take time to do an overhaul detox of your spirit, soul and body as opposed to focusing on our body alone. As it is that time of year when many of us revisit the idea of purging, detoxifying, or dieting. With the added calories and over-indulgence that often come with the festivities, it's natural to feel the need to cleanse our bodies. But while we focus on removing physical toxins, let's also remember the importance of getting rid of other toxins that may affect our spirit and soul. These toxins can come in the form of procrastination, laziness, doubt, worry, fear, and more. In Hebrews 12:1-2, the Bible refers to these as "weights" and "sin." Let's not forget to be mindful of these spiritual "fats" so that we can successfully navigate the individual race set before us. By doing so, we can strive for overall wellbeing- mentally, physically, and spiritually. Over the course of the nights, as well as on various other occasions, I encouraged our children to reflect on all the things they are grateful to God for. One particular moment stood out to me when our second son reminded us of the gratitude journal we used to have, where we would document all the things we were thankful for. Honestly, I had completely forgotten about it. He even retrieved it from his drawer, reminding me that he was in year two when we had it. It was truly amazing! He suggested that we start another gratitude journal for next year, and of course, I am fully onboard with that idea. Often, the ups and downs of life can cause us to become fixated on what is not going well, rather than appreciating what has gone well and focusing on how things can improve. I kindly request that you take a moment to pause from whatever activity you are currently engaged in. And think about God's love for you and yours over this year - Jan - Dec - the good - the not so good - the beautiful - the ugly moments Next, please ponder on these scriptural verses “O my soul, bless God. From head to toe, I'll bless his holy name! O my soul, bless God, don't forget a single blessing! He forgives your sins—every one. He heals your diseases—every one. He redeems you from hell—saves your life! He crowns you with love and mercy—a paradise crown. He wraps you in goodness—beauty eternal. He renews your youth—you're always young in his presence.” Psalms 103:1-5 MSG If you feel all of these benefits mentioned are not ticked this year Please ponder on this Scriptural verses- “Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens. In the last episode - episode 319, when I mentioned how our response to God's sacrificial love and mercy for us should lead us to surrendering ourselves to God - to be his holy, living sacrifices by dying to self. I felt I should explain what “dying to self means”. So today, we will be learning about what it means to die to self. To "die to self" means to surrender our own desires, egos, and self-centeredness to follow Jesus Christ and submit to God's will. It involves putting aside our own selfish ambitions, pride, and personal agendas in order to live in obedience to God and serve others selflessly. When we die to self, we no longer seek to gratify our own desires but instead submit to the authority of God and follow His commandments. You need to understand this truth - that the sacrifice of Jesus delivered us from the penalty of sin and it is only our daily death to self that will deliver us from the power of sin. Sin will continue to lord over our lives (our sinful nature) when we prioritise our own desires over God's will. However, when we choose to daily die to self and let God take control over our will, prioritising His will and plans over our own desires, His Spirit will daily empower us to overcome sin. 1. Luke 9:23-24: "Then he said to them all: 'Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.'" 2. Galatians 2:20: "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." Romans 12:1-2: "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." 5. Philippians 2:3-4: "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others." 6. Colossians 3:5: "Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry." As we daily choose to deny our own desires, thoughts, and behaviors that are contrary to God's will and wholeheartedly surrender ourselves to follow Christ and live according to His teachings, we continue to be vessels for God's purpose and are able to serve others in love and humility. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/abimbola-arawande/message
What do you intend to give back for God's Love? What do you intend to give back for the sacrifice Jesus made for you and I? In the last podcast - Episode 311, the focus was on praising God for sending His son Jesus as a permanent sacrifice to bridge the gap between man and God. Jesus was sent to reconcile us back to God. Halleluyah! Today, we will be moving from Receiving to Giving mode. We have received God's best gift - Jesus! His life! His blood! His love! His Holy Spirit! What are we required to give back as a proof of our love to our Father? What should be our proper response to God's marvelous mercies? Our response is to surrender ourselves to God to be his holy, living sacrifices just as Jesus did. This time around- we die to self, we daily die to desires contrary to God's will. We choose to live in holiness by the help of the Spirit of God. Rom 12:1 will give a better explanation “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.” Romans 12:1 NKJV I love the MSG Translation- “So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.” Romans 12:1-2 MSG Remember, as the priests were required to make a daily sacrifice of lambs, for them to enjoy God's daily abiding and manifest presence and power, so we must daily die to self- Taking our everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and placing it before God as an offering so we can reign as God's priests and kings as God intended. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/abimbola-arawande/message
Episode 311 Reading through the various offerings the Israelites were mandated to carry out, in the book of Exodus, I could not but imagine how rigorous and bloody the various rituals and daily rituals must have been. For instance, for the ordination of Aaron and his sons as priests, there were instructions concerning the specific type of animal offerings and sacrifices that must be adhered by, for seven good days. Aside this, two 1 year old lamb must be daily sacrificed by the priests - One in the morning and one in the evening from generations to generations. ““This is to be your regular, daily Whole-Burnt-Offering before God, generation after generation, sacrificed at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting. That's where I'll meet you; that's where I'll speak with you; that's where I'll meet the Israelites, at the place made holy by my Glory. I'll make the Tent of Meeting and the Altar holy. I'll make Aaron and his sons holy in order to serve me as priests. I'll move in and live with the Israelites. I'll be their God. They'll realize that I am their God who brought them out of the land of Egypt so that I could live with them. I am God, your God.”” Exodus 29:42-46 MSG Reminiscing on Jesus' sacrifice for mankind, all I could say is ‘Thank You Father for the blood of Jesus. Thank You for the freedom and boldness to access Your presence because of the blood of Jesus Thank You for reconciling us back to God through the blood of Jesus Your son. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/abimbola-arawande/message
Do something! There are times when we need to stop! Stop praying and do something! There are times, all that is required of us is to do something! Make an attempt! Move forward! Retreat to refire! Instruct! This is exactly the story of Moses and the Israelites, as the Lord impressed “Do Something” in my heart! God had just delivered the Israelites from the oppression of the Egyptians. Some hours later, after their exodus from Egypt, king Pharaoh changed his mind about releasing the Israelites. And he followed after them so as to capture them. The Israelites- now caught up in between the Egyptian army and the Red Sea were sore afraid. They started ranting- Exodus 14:10-12 “As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up and saw them—Egyptians! Coming at them! They were totally afraid. They cried out in terror to God. They told Moses, “Weren't the cemeteries large enough in Egypt so that you had to take us out here in the wilderness to die? What have you done to us, taking us out of Egypt? Back in Egypt didn't we tell you this would happen? Didn't we tell you, ‘Leave us alone here in Egypt—we're better off as slaves in Egypt than as corpses in the wilderness.'”” Exodus 14:10-12 MSG Meanwhile, Moses encouraged the Israelites. He also must have been praying ‘cos in verse 15, the Lord told Moses to quit praying and do something! Vs 15-18 Here's my paraphrase of what God said- -Tell the Israelites to go forward toward the sea -To lift up his rod , stretch it to part the sea -The Israelites will walk through the sea on dry ground. -While you are walking ahead, as instructed, I'll make sure the Egyptians continue with their stubborn chase -I'll use Pharaoh and his entire army- his chariots and horsemen, to put my Glory on display so that the Egyptians will realize that I am God. Exodus 14:15-18 MSG Meaning, do what you can, and must do; and I will do what only me can do! In rounding up? Quick question? Have you been praying and praying; and it seems God is silent on you? Could it be God had given you an instruction, and waiting on you to do something so He could do His own part? I'm here to charge you today- do something! Quit praying and step out! I pray for renewed strength for you today to Do Something about what you have been praying for. Take a step of faith because faith without works is dead. There was a marriage in Cana of Galilee. Jesus' mother was invited. Also, Jesus and his friends- his followers, were invited. At a time, during the feast, the party organisers ran out of wine. Learnt in John 2:3 that when the guests wanted wine, Mary told Jesus her son about the lack. From Jesus' response, it seems he was not ready as he responded with in Vs 4 with “Dear woman, why come to me? My time has not yet come.” I feel Mary must have had an intuition or even witnessed extraordinary acts of her son – Jesus as she did not back down to her son's response. I also feel Jesus understood and respected the authority of his parent for him to have yielded to his mother's request; for in vs 6, Mary said to the servants “Do whatever Jesus tells you to do”. The servants listened to Mary's instructions! – vs 5-7 For in Vs 7- when Jesus said to the servants to fill the jars with water. They filled the jars to the top as instructed. Next, Jesus said to them, “Now take some out and give it to the master of the feast.” So the servants took the water to the master. When he tasted it, the water had become wine. He did not know where the wine came from. But the servants who brought the water knew. The master of the wedding called the bridegroom and said to him, “People always serve the best wine first. Later, after the guests have been drinking a lot, they serve the cheaper wine. But you have saved the best wine till now.”” This is awesome! The servers' prompt obedience paid off! The bride and groom; and their guests benefited from their prompt obedience. (vs 8-11) Take-Home lesson for me, which I pray God opens your eyes to as well. I am a link to need and solution. My decision will determine continued gap between the needs being met, or change answered. Certain people's blessings are contingent to my prompt obedience to God's Word. In rounding up, the verse that stood out for me most is ves 5 where Mary said “Whatever Jesus tells you to do, do it!” As you read and study the Word of God, just do what Jesus says. Jesus' Word brings light, ITimothy If the Word corrects – Do it! And as you are prompt to obey God's Word, being filled with His Word, by the Help of the Holy Spirit, your life will be poured out to others through graceful, holy, pure and thankful words, acts and deeds. Remember Jesus is the Word John 1:1 Remember, whatever He tells you to do, just do it! As certain people's change and blessings depend on your prompt obedience to God's Word. - --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/abimbola-arawande/message
Jesus' wounds have become your healing He personally carried our sins in His body on the cross [willingly offering Himself on it, as on an altar of sacrifice], so that we might die to sin [becoming immune from the penalty and power of sin] and live for righteousness; for by His wounds you [who believe] have been healed.” 1 Peter 2:24 AMP How do you enjoy the blessing of Divine Health? 1. Believe that Jesus died to set you free from sin, sickness and death; and accept and confess Him as your Saviour and Lord 2. Learn, know and walk in your identity in Christ by daily studying and meditating on God's Truth for you 3. Believe and confess what God says about your divine health 4. Jesus' First Followers “The following day Jesus wanted to go to Galilee, and He found Philip and said to him, “Follow Me.” Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” And Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!” Nathanael said to Him, “How do You know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” Nathanael answered and said to Him, “Rabbi, You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!” Jesus answered and said to him, “Because I said to you, ‘I saw you under the fig tree,' do you believe? You will see greater things than these.” And He said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, hereafter you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.”” John 1:43-51 NKJV --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/abimbola-arawande/message
How to Defend Your Faith “It is our responsibility to defend our faith!”, mentioned one of the young people I work with. He further said we can't just do nothing when someone is saying something bad about god” This is interesting! You don't have to fight for God! I responded to him and I briefly informed him on how to defend his faith from God's point of view. Of course as a Christian must fight for our faith! Yes we must! However, haw are we implored to fight for our faith? What are the Biblical principles to guide our defence and fight of our faith of the Gospel? Jude 1:2-3 is one of the Scriptural verses that awakens a sense of urgency within me to defend my faith. “Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, …..and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” Jude 1:3 KJV We are exhorted, we are implored, encouraged and challenged to earnestly contend vigorously defend the faith of Gospel we have in God. The word earnest means “serious and zealous in intention” We are urged to be serious and zealous in our faith-life intentions. Or we are implored to be intentionally serious and zealous about our faith. Jude 1:2–3 “Dear friends, I've dropped everything to write you about this life of salvation that we have in common. I have to write insisting—begging!—that you fight with everything you have in you for this faith entrusted to us as a gift to guard and cherish. Jude 3 Why did apostle Peter say this? Why the need to defend our faith? Apostle Peter mentioned further that “ “I say this because certain bad people have secretly come among you. They have turned away from God. They are trying to change God's true message. They teach that we can do any evil things that we want to do. They say that God will be kind and he will forgive us for all those things. They do not accept the authority of Jesus Christ, who is our only Master and our Lord. God will certainly punish those wicked people. A long time ago God said that he would punish people like them.” Jude 1:4 EASY Vs 5-19 centres around the ungodly and shameful acts. So, how do we defend our faith? Vs 20-23 reveals how to defend our faith. “But you, my friends, have believed the message that comes from God himself. So you must help one another to trust God more and more. Pray to God with the help of the Holy Spirit. Continue to live in a way that shows God's love. As you wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to come, remember that he is very kind. Because of that, you will have life with God for ever. Help those people who do not know whether to trust God. Be kind to them. Some people are in great danger. You must save them from the fire of God's punishment. Also be kind to people who have done wicked and disgusting things. But be careful! Do not let their sins make you bad too.” Jude 1:20-23 EASY I encourage you to please prayerfully read, study these verses so you can be equipped to do what God had called us to do. Let us pray. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/abimbola-arawande/message
Episode 305: How to Find Freedom in Your Emotional Life Some weeks ago, at our family local church, where we worship, we explored the role of emotions in living victorious lifestyles . In Hannah's words ….. - “Our emotions are like a gauge. Our feelings alert us to what is happening to n our lives and environment.” - “Our emotions are wired into what we believe and value “ “What do you base your emotions on? ‘Perceived reality' or ‘truth'” “What dictate your truth ? Your feelings or God's truth?” “Is your feeling a gauge or your god? “ Align your emotions with God's Word The starting point to finding freedom in our emotional lives is to think Biblically; aligning our emotions with God's Word. Taking a journey into the story of Joseph, a young lad, much loved by his father whose dreams seemed to be shattered when he was sold by his brothers to an Egyptian who bought him as his slave. Having read his response to his old brothers in Gen 45.5 Hmmn I had a pause! I had a reflective thinking! “Now don't be worried. Don't be angry with yourselves because you sold me here. God sent me here ahead of you to save people's lives. No food has grown on the land for two years now. And there will be five more years without planting or harvest. So God sent me here ahead of you. This was to make sure you have some descendants left on earth. And it was to keep you alive in an amazing way. So it was not you who sent me here, but God. God has made me the highest officer of the king of Egypt. I am in charge of his palace. I am the master of all the land of Egypt.” Genesis 45:5-8 ICB In retrospective, Joseph must have felt unloved and betrayed when his brothers made jest of him, threw him into a pit and eventually sold him. He must have felt angry for being unjustly thrown into the prison for what he did not do. He definitely must have felt FORGOTTEN BY GOD when the cupbearer he helped interpreted dreams for seemed not to show him favour by informing the right authority. Undoubtedly, the ordeal must have been tough on Joseph. So, how did he handle his feelings? How did he handle his emotions? What did he do that helped him to interpret his ordeals rightly? Joseph thought Biblically. Joseph intentionally brought his mind back to God and His Words. Prior to his challenges, Joseph must have been dedicated to studying and meditating on God's Words . For instance “…Joseph gave his father bad reports about his brothers.” Genesis 37:2 ICB “…How can I do such an evil thing? It is a sin against God.”” Genesis 39:9 ICB “Joseph answered the king, “I am not able to explain the meaning of dreams. God will do this for the king.”” Genesis 41:16 ICB “You had two dreams which mean the same thing. This shows that God has firmly decided that this will happen. And he will make it happen soon.” Genesis 41:32 ICB “Now don't be worried. Don't be angry with yourselves because you sold me here. God sent me here ahead of you to save people's lives.” Genesis 45:5 ICB All these verses pointed to Joseph's intentionality in allowing God's Word to reshape him by thinking Biblically; aligning his emotions with God's Word. Let us pray Father we thank You for your intention, plan and desire for us Your children to be saved and prospered spirit, soul and body. We receive fresh grace to be emotionally honest before You so that Your Word can reshape us and refine our characters in sufferings so that we can truly live as you planned and Your name be glorified In Jesus' name. Episode 304: How prepared are you for the future you envision? Two years passed, yet Joseph was not remembered! He was not remembered for the good deed he did. The cupbearer had forgotten! He had forgotten to inform king Pharaoh about the young man - Joseph who interpreted his dream correctly for him. A timely opportunity arose. Pharaoh had two different dreams in one night. Both dreams were disturbing to the king. His sages and magicians could not interpret the two dreams. The cup-bearer now remembered Joseph! He informed king Pharaoh of how Joseph correctly interpreted his dream and the baker's, while they were both in custody. Gen 40 King Pharaoh asked for Joseph's immediate entrance into the palace. What a golden opportunity for Joseph! Much water has flowed under the bridge for Joseph. What if Joseph had given up on God? What if he chose to lose all hope on his God, His love and reverence for Him? The awaited opportunity would not have met him well! Joseph still held on to his God and His Word, and principles. -In response to king Pharaoh's dreams Joseph mentioned God three times “Then Joseph said - “… the dreams of Pharaoh are one and the same. God has revealed to Pharaoh what he is about to do. HE EXPLAINED THE DREAM! And added that the reason the dream was given to Pharaoh in two forms is that the matter has been firmly decided by God, and God will do it soon.” Genesis 41:25-32 NIVUK -In response to the cup-bearer and the baker when they related their dreams to him- Joseph mentioned “..Don't interpretations come from God?… Genesis 40:8 MSG In response to Potiphar's wife when she was pestering him for sex; Joseph's response showed his godly values as a result of his reverence for God. He said to his master's wife- “…Look, …You're my master's wife, after all! How could I violate his trust and sin against God?”” Genesis 39:8-9 MSG Joseph was 17 years when sold by his brothers, at age 30yrs, he was released from prison! Those were 13 years of options of bitterness, resentment OR enduring hope trust in God and Word, process and preparation. Joseph chose the latter. What a God who is timely in His plans and decisions! Joseph prepared himself in all ramifications - his mindset, God-values; and when the timely and life-changing opportunity came - he was ready! How prepared are you in the future you envisioned many years ago? I just want to encourage you again to hold on to God. Keep on loving Him Keep on trusting HIm and His Word Keep on living a life pleasing to God By the help of His Spirit - You are an overcomer -You are victorious -You are a king and priest in God's kingdom -Keep having the mindset of Christ -Live ready for all plans God has for you. Let us pray Father I thank You for the beautiful and unchangeable plans you have for us. Help us to daily life our lives, thinking from your perspective so we will not miss out on the plans you have for us and ours, in Jesus' name. Episode 303: Sometimes, it is ok to walk alone Sometimes, it's ok to be walking alone This happened awhile ago. I was using my navigation system before setting out due to traffic and congestions because of several roadworks. This particular evening, there was a re-route from the usual route I would normally take. After driving for about 1.5miles, I got to a T-Junction, looked behind and saw (observed) that no car was behind me. No car was following me, neither was there a vehicle in ahead of me. However, there were oncoming vehicles. I thought to myself- I am definitely taking a wrong path! I was worried! So I halted on the road as no vehicle was behind me anyway, wound the window down and asked someone if the road ahead was closed. The woman kindly informed me that the road was clear for me to drive through. What a relief! Still looked behind, no vehicle was following me. The kind woman's response was re-assuring for me. Interestingly, the route the sat-nav took directed me to paid off. The Holy Spirit ministered to me right there from the scene and I prayed that you will find encouragement, courage and strength from it. Sometimes in our lives, our individual journey may require us to walk alone. We may even feel insecure about the path just as I felt. You may feel pressured to make a u-turn until you are re-assured. I would love to encourage you today. Please go back to the drawing board. What is the word God gave you? What dreams, visions, or prophecy did you receive earlier? Do you have the habit of writing down your dreams, goals, visions and promptings? Then, pick up the journal Re-read it Read through it Prayerfully re-read it Let the Words re-energise and keep you in check and focus. Remember, it is ok to be walking alone. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/abimbola-arawande/message
Today's podcast is dedicated to my dad. In loving memory of my dad- Engr Oladejo Solomon Popoola of blessed memory, who passed on exactly 25yrs ago, at the age of 53yrs. Engr. Popoola, my dad, was a Godly, principled man and a lover of music who enjoyed playing hymnals on his piano. He was a disciplinarian. A man dedicated to his wife, children and work. I never saw dad taken a day off at work for off-sick leave. He prioritised his children's education above his pleasure. And Sunday church was a must for the whole family. My mind went to my dad of blessed memory, when I read Isaac's story and how God appeared to him during a famine, instructing and guiding him on where to avoid; and where to relocate to. God also mentioned to Isaac that he would be with him and bless him and his posterity all because of what Abraham his dad did. - God told Isaac he was going to fulfil all the solemn promises he made to Abraham. All be “And I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven; I will give to your descendants all these lands; and in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed; because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.”” Genesis 26:4-5 NKJV When my dad passed on, I had the opportunity to do my one year work-experience at Chi Ltd, Lagos, NIgeria. It was an international company that produce and market drinks, poultry and aquatic animals. The Personnel Manager called me to his office and commemorated me on my dad's transition and told me to feel free to come to him if I need anything. In actual fact, all through my stay in the company he would call me his daughter. Of course, I made sure I enjoyed all the preferential treatments available. Just as God blessed Isaac and his posterity because of Abraham, why did the PM offered me unimaginable support? He mentioned that my father -Engr Popoola , then the Telecommunications Manager of NITEL, with his team, fixed all the company's lines without a bribe. Without any hassle which he mentioned was uncommon. God blessed Isaac and his posterity as a result of Abraham's deeds. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/abimbola-arawande/message
Moses: …God..show me your plan… God's response: I will go with you. And I will give you victory. Of course, no one likes to be kept in the dark. God has given Moses an assignment to lead His people from Egypt to the land He promised them. This was a hard job for Moses. He asked God for His plans. The way He intends to orchestrate the mass exodus, the emigration, of His people from Egypt. As a matter of fact, in any profession, you will need a plan in order to execute your job effectively. Of course, God has a plan but it was not as Moses or any of us will view things because God does not think the way man thinks; He does not work the way man work. (Isaiah 55:8-9) God responded by informing Moses that His presence will go with Him and give him rest. “The Lord replied, ‘My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.'” Exodus 33:14 NIVUK Further, in the same chapter, God showed Moses a sign of His greatness; also to assure Moses of His guaranteed presence and rest He will always have. I'm so many ways, we can relate to this story. We desire to know God's plans, His ways, His purpose, His assignment for us as a child, student, adult…, We put the cart before the horse. Invariably, when we put the cart before the horse; our movement get thwarted; because something done in the wrong order will not be effective. God's order is -seek My presence -love me with all your heart -Fellowship with me -Commune with me And as we take time in God's presence, being conscious of His presence, as apostle Peter mentioned in 1 Peter 1:18 and I quote - “Your life is a journey you must travel with a deep consciousness of God…” 1 Peter 1:18-21 MSG God will open up to us, as a book, page by page, the purpose and plans / ways to execute the assignment He has given us. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/abimbola-arawande/message

Looking closely into the life of Abraham, there were times in his life that he was filled with so much enthusiasm about life saying “I can do this!” Having all courage to leave his father's land to where God was leading him, although he did not know what exactly the future holds. There were moments his faith and encouragement in God and His Word was renewed and he chose to obey God's instructions to offer his son as sacrifice. There were also discouraging moments where he felt low , he was discouraged due to his wife's barrenness. He was also fearful because of famine in the land. He was faced with two options - to be truthful or lie. This is me putting myself in Abraham's shoes, and saying “I am not lying.” “Sarah is actually my half sister!” Defending myself! He was tired! Abraham faced with fixed mentality. I can't do this again! He was tired of waiting! He accepted his wife's suggestion to go in to their maid - Haggai. ‘Just want to encourage you today, to remember this- Abraham was once in your shoes. Abraham was once in our shoes. The one highly esteemed and chosen by God as father of faith went through his own low moments. -He had feelings of fear and God reminded him in Gen 15:1 not to be afraid. “After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.” Genesis 15:1 KJV. -He had expectations and desires to have his own children. Imagine in the long phase of his wife's barrenness, he was supporting his servants' children. God re-assured him in Gen 15:4-5 He derailed from God's plan by birthing Ishmeal whose birth affected humanity till date. In it all, God gently called him back to his lane; to his purpose. Believe in God and His Word; believe Him with all your heart just as Abraham did despite his failings and God counted it to him for righteousness Romans 4 As God re-assured Abraham with His manifest-presence in Gen 17:1- appearing to Abram, revitalising him with His presence, remember that you also have a priceless privilege of having the Spirit of God dwelling in you. God's presence is in you cheering you on saying -do not be afraid. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/abimbola-arawande/message
Hang on There Could this be your story too? Ben has applied for several job interviews (not real name) He gets refused times without number He feels even more upset that those who are less qualified than him are offered the jobs he also interviewed for. All friends he supports with their CVs and interview preparations all got their desired job roles He loves God with all his heart and he strives to be pleasing to Him Ben is now fed up of his life situations and the rejections he is is facing He cried out to God… Fast forward - Years later, Ben is enjoying his current part-time role and business. He getting a sense of satisfaction and fulfilment in both areas. As Ben described- he is thankful to God for all the refusals. He now realises that God allowed all the previous employers to turn him down because those jobs would have been distractions to what God has planned for him. Do you currently feel rejected or unwanted? Remember Joseph - He had dreams of greatness. Yet it seemed all circumstances he was faced with were against God's plans for him. -His brothers' jealousy, hatred and rejection of him Gen 37 -Potipher's wife's allegation leading to his imprisonment Gen 39 -Cupbearer's forgetfulness in standing as a Reference for his Dream interpretation job in Gen 40 God never left Joseph in all his predicament. The Bible says Gen 39:2; 20-21 “And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.” Genesis 39:2 KJV “And Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king's prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison. But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison.” Genesis 39:20-21 KJV God's presence was with Joseph. God was building Joseph's character. Thank God he did not succumb to Potipher's wife's adultery proposal. Thank God he did not succumb to revenge-giving in to paying his brothers back in their own coin. Joseph understood the process. Gen 45:4-5 Of course he felt rejected. He felt unwanted. He felt betrayed. However, he was conscious of God's presence. He revered God. When Potipher's wife tempted him, he said “…how then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?” (Gen 39:9) When he had opportunity to interprete the king's cupbearer and baker's dreams, he said “Do not interpretations belong to God? Tell me your dreams. (Gen. 40:8) God's presence was with Joseph. Not only that, Joseph have an awareness of God's presence. He recognised it and flaunted it. God's Presence Series- Hiding in God or Hiding from God? So today, I would love to ask a rhetorical question- Are you hiding in God or hiding from God? We learnt in Genesis 2 of how God planted a garden eastward in Eden and put Adam in charge to tend and keep it. Adam had liberty to feed on every tree of the garden except one. Which if eaten, will cut him off from God's presence which also means spiritual death. Vs. 15 Adam got busy. He named all the cattle, birds of air and every beast but he could not find a Help comparable. Eventually Adam was able to find a Help suitable as God described in Gen 2:21-25. Though they were both naked but not ashamed. The nakedness described in this verse is INTIMACY. They were intimate with God, they had nothing to hide. They had no fear. In chapter 3, Here comes Satan, checking out on Eve's obedience to God's Word. It was obvious that Eve was aware of the instructions God gave to her husband as it relates in Gen 3:2-3 “And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.' ”” Genesis 3:2-3 NKJV Eve allowed herself to be deceived by the Enemy. Her husband - Adam also become an Accomplice. Eventually, they hid themselves from God. They went to hide from God not knowing that there is nothing hidden from God They felt fear, their sense of innocence- holiness- stripped off them as a result of their disobedience. They started hiding from Who they were supposed to hide in. They were hiding from Who is supposed to hide them in Himself- in His love and protection. Adam and Eve allowed Sin to be cut them off from God's presence. Thank God for the second and last Adam- Jesus- His death and resurrection reconciled us to God. We have access to His abiding and manifest Presence (Holy Spirit) of God. We can bodily come and stay in God's presence without fear “Now that we know what we have—Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God—let's not let it slip through our fingers. We don't have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He's been through weakness and testing, experienced it all—all but the sin. So let's walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help.” Hebrews 4:14-16 MSG Do not allow sin to hide you from God and His Word. Be intentional to stay hidden in God's presence. “You give them a place to hide, and you keep them safe with you. When their enemies want to attack them, you take care of them. When their enemies speak lies against them, they are safe with you.” Psalms 31:20 EASY Remember, God has given you a place in Himself, to hide in. Holy Spirt - The Presence of God As mentioned in my last podcast, the most part of this year, I will be delving into encouraging Words that are focused on God's presence especially looking into verses where God's presence occurs and learning from it. It is so reassuring, refreshing and revitalising to know that God will not forget you not ignore us in the face of uncertainties. David the Psalmist captured this truth from one of his psalms in 121 verse 3 “He will guard and guide me, never letting me stumble or fall. God is my keeper; he will never forget nor ignore me.” Psalms 121:3 TPT However, the only way one could come to this understanding is being conscious of God's presence - His Holy Spirit. Being aware that His Holy Spirit is in, and with us. God specialises in turning chaos into order. His presence turns every chaos into order He brings clarity and light into every darkness. He turns emptiness into fullness, fruitfulness and abundance. From Gen 1:2, we learnt that the former beautiful earth, as a result of Satan's rebellion, was formless and void. It was a waste and full of emptiness. Darkness was also upon the face of the deep. The presence of God- the Spirit of God stepped in, moved over the face of the waters. The Holy Spirit hoovered, brooded over the face of the waters. And God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.” Genesis 1:1-3 AMP Do you feel empty within? Or Do you feel there is a void in your life? Are you at crossroad, or in the tunnel of uncertainty ? God is saying “let there be light” He has sent His son- Jesus, the Light of the world to you. Accept His love, accept His Light so that His Spirit can help you to exit the tunnel of darkness, uncertainties. He wants to brood, hoover and move over your situation. If you have accepted the love of Christ. Be intentional to allow Him be the Lord over your life and will so that you can continually enjoy the communion, the fellowship of His Holy Spirit - the presence of God. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/abimbola-arawande/message
God's Presence Series - My Encounter As I mentioned last week, the anchor word “God's Presence” is still resonating with me as it was for couple of years and of a truth I enjoyed the “wraparound presence” of my Father as much as He strengthened my confidence in His Word in and out of trying periods. On this wise, the most part of this year, I will be delving into encouraging Words that are focused on God's presence especially looking into verses where God's presence occurs and learning from it. Today, I feel I should talk about one of the encounters I had with God that has helped established me in God and His Word for many years. So, in 2005, almost a year after our wedding, my husband and I had an argument, which was supposedly settled. The particular night, he was sleeping peacefully like a baby whilst my mind kept wandering about like a loosened cloud. Right there, my mind was playing a re-cap of the “supposedly settled argument”we had that fateful evening and I found it difficult to clear the hurtful feelings and thoughts off my mind. I was tearful because this man did not even know how hurt I was, and there he was sleeping! I tried waking him up with bouncing my body on the mattress, coughing out loud and with noisy sounds but that trick did not wake him up. I left the bedroom for try sitting room, sitting on the sofa, my heart cried out to God. know when you're just short of words and all your spirit could say is 'help me Lord!' I did not know what to do! And lo and behold the Lord spoke to my spirit- He said ' When you hurt My son; you hurt me'. When I hurt Your son, I'm hurting You! All my spirit could say was "Help me Lord, how do I go about it", asking in sincerity, the Lord replied me with ' Don't Leave My Presence'. I heard him clearly, in what the prophet Jeremaih called 'still small voice. The message sank in to my soul and it got me thinking. Does that suggest that I am the one hurting my husband not otherwise?! I was the one who hurt him! To my understanding and perspective, I believed so much that it was my hubby who caused the row! God justifying my hubby, was a thought-provoking and correcting time for me. Also being able to see from God's lens, where I was wrong was thought-provoking. The thoughts of "God hurting" baffled me until one day I stumbled on the biblical perspective of "God hurting" while studying, and the moment I read the actual passage, my mind went back to that statement- "when you hurt my son, you hurt me!" There are examples in the Bible where God mentioned being hurt when His people are being hurt or hurting. For instance, we learnt from Acts of Apostle, how Saul was persecuting the Church- hurting, killing and putting them into prison. We learnt how Saul had an encounter with God in Acts of Apostle 9 “and he (Saul) fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: …” CEV - Contemporary English Version says “Saul! Saul! Why are you so cruel to me?”” Acts 9:4 CEV EASY translation says “…Saul, Saul, why do you fight against me?'” Acts 9:4 EASY… --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/abimbola-arawande/message
God's Presence is Enough There is something about Psalms 16: that makes me chuckle. - the beauty of God's love - The assurance of His love and protection - The affirming of Father's guidance - Father's promise Listen to verses 5-11 “Yahweh, you alone are my inheritance. You are my prize, my pleasure, and my portion. You hold my destiny and its timing in your hands. Your pleasant path leads me to pleasant places. EASY says “You, Lord, are all that I need. What you give to me is enough, for me and for my descendants.” God's presence is enough for me. I'm overwhelmed by the privileges that come with following you! The way you counsel me makes me praise you more, for your whispers in the night give me wisdom, showing me what to do next. Because I set you, Yahweh, always close to me, my confidence will never be weakened, for I experience your wraparound presence every moment. ….No! No! No! Your confidence will never be weakened because we have found in God your safe place. My heart and soul explode with joy—full of glory! Even my body will rest confident and secure. For you will not abandon me to the realm of death, nor will you allow your Faithful One to experience corruption. …… Because of you, I know the path of life, as I taste the fullness of joy in your presence. At your right side I experience divine pleasures forevermore!” Vs 11 I love the way MSG relays it “Now you've got my feet on the life path, all radiant from the shining of your face. Ever since you took my hand, I'm on the right way.” Psalms 16:11 MSG This year- pursue God's presence Cherish God's presence Prioritise God's presence And all others will be added- Joy, clarity, peace, guidance, protection, solution, provision- you name that need it burden- they are all embedded in God's presence. Remember, God's presence is enough for you. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/abimbola-arawande/message

(Psalms 140:13; Prov 13:12) Whose presence do you love to be in? When you love someone, you just want to be with them. However, if the love is unrecognised or unrequited, it would be frustrating, saddening or depressing to the heart. The person involved keeps hoping that one day his love or her love would be returned with embracing and warming arms and cuddles but when it does not , the heart sinks as Proverbs states “...hope deferred makes the heart sick...” Prov 13:12. The TPT says it this way - “When hope's dream seems to drag on and on, the delay can be depressing...” Proverbs 13:12 TPT On the contrary, David the Psalmist pictured the heart of he who knows beyond the shadow of doubt that he is loved by God. He knows he is secure and protected by God because God's love is unfailing. Due to this truth, he chooses and cherishes God's presence above everything else. Why not try the unwavering and unflinching love of God today, He is sure to be your most secure place as the Psalmist says “Your godly lovers will thank you no matter what happens. For they choose and cherish your presence above everything else!” Psalms 140:13 TPT Be sure that your life will never remain the same. Let us pray Father I thank You for Your calming Word Thank You for loving me with an everlasting love --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/abimbola-arawande/message
Seize the Moment Nothing fulfils me more than sharing and expounding the Word of God. It was one of my thrilling moments- fulfilling, yet concerning as I seized the moment to expound the truth of God's Word to couple of the Christian young people I work with. I had a sense of fulfilment because it had always been my desire to see people- young and old, truly understanding what the Word of God says about them, and walking in it, by sharing the Word. Feelings of concern came when thoughts of doubts came- “what if they do not understand, or they decide not to do anything about the truth they are taught.” Two scriptural verses came to mind- Ephesians 5:16 “So be very careful how you live, not being like those with no understanding, but live honorably with true wisdom, for we are living in evil times. Take full advantage of every day as you spend your life for his purposes.” I Corinth 3:6-7 “I planted the church, and Apollos came and cared for it, but it was God who caused it to grow. This means the one who plants is not anybody special, nor the one who waters, for God is the one who brings the supernatural growth.” Our responsibility is to keep sowing and watering the seed of God's Word, by not giving up. God, himself at the fullness of time will cause the growth of the seed. Will moments of doubts and concern come? Yes! It will. However, we need to keep reminding ourselves to live in the Word. Our calling as Christ believers is a call to live by faith not by feelings. Living life of faith not of feelings. Deliberately taking every thought and purpose captive to the obedience of Christ. “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,” II Corinthians 10:4-5 NKJV So, what am I trying to say as I wrap up? -Do not be discouraged -Take full advantage of every day, to live it for God's purpose -When discouragement sets in, remind yourself of God's Word in I Corinth 3:6-7. God Himself will turn things around at the fullness of time. -Take charge of your thoughts. Someone says “the mind is a battlefield”. It truly is. Take every thought and purpose captive to the obedience of Christ as advised in II Corinth 10:4-5. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/abimbola-arawande/message
Jesus is Alive in Your Situation (Acts 1:3) It must have been difficult and undoubtedly worrying time for Jesus' followers after Jesus their friend was crucified on the Cross- facing humiliating death on the Cross, in Getsamene.
Myles Monroe of blessed memory once said in one of his books that ”when purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable". God created everyone for a glorious purpose and the only way to find that purpose is to go to God. Firstly, have a relationship with God through the sacrifice He made available for us- His Son Jesus. Believing and confessing Him as one's Lord and Saviour. Secondly, develop and ignite your fellowship with the Lord. Study the Word, live a prayerful lifestyle communing with the Lord so you can know His mind for you at all times. “We humans keep brainstorming options and plans, but God's purpose prevails.” Proverbs 19:21 MSG Endeavour to be faithful with little opportunities God opens up one's way. Opportunities to serve could be at home, the local church or workplace. I believe that when God sees one's faithfulness and loyalty with the little, He will open one up to a higher purpose. However, in some cases, God speak specifically to individual through vision, dream or prompting, I still believe that to get to one's wealthy place still requires faithfulness with the little - at home, local church, workplace etc. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/abimbola-arawande/message

He created them male and female… Genesis 1:26-28 MSG “Then God said, ‘We will make humans so that they are very much like us… God made humans. He made them to be like himself. He made some of them males and some of them females.” Genesis 1:26-27 EASY Dictionary meaning of nature: the particular combination of qualities belonging to a person, animal, thing, or class by birth, origin, or constitution; native or inherent character: God's purpose and plan is for us His children to be like Him. The first Adam could not live in the reality of what God intended, however, by the help of the second and last Adam- Jesus Christ our Saviour and Lord, we can live victoriously as God intended. 1 Corinth 15:45-49 (Please study it) “For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.” Romans 5:19 KJV “In other words, just as condemnation came upon all people through one transgression, so through one righteous act of Jesus' sacrifice, the perfect righteousness that makes us right with God and leads us to a victorious life is now available to all. One man's disobedience opened the door for all humanity to become sinners. So also one man's obedience opened the door for many to be made perfectly right with God and acceptable to him.” Romans 5:18-19 TPT In rounding up, God created us to be like Him- in His image. In Matthew 5-6, we learnt that at a certain time, Jesus went up on the mountain to avoid crowd. When he has settled down, His disciples joined Him and He started teaching them His Word of wisdom. Jesus further taught His disciples about the model prayer in Matthew 6:10-11 which is our focal scriptural verse for today. Reminding His disciples of Father's love who knows them, loves them, knows their needs and has plans for their needs to be met. “Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” Matthew 6:8-10 KJV So how can we live within the will of God? By always desiring, longing, praying expectant that God's kingdom realm to be manifested here on earth; His every purpose to be fulfilled on earth through us.
