Are you familiar with that nagging feeling of not being "enough"? Do you have ideas, hopes, and dreams but no confidence to do them? Well, if you've been battling imposter syndrome, you're not alone. But here's the kicker: it's costing you more than just confidence; it's robbing you of time, money, and opportunities you can't afford to lose. At last week's Mom 2.0 conference, there were hundreds of attendees, including several famous ones. From video gamers to industry disruptors, I connected with many. Now, here's the kicker: If I let my impostor syndrome go unchecked, I wouldn't have had the courage to ask them to be guests on my podcast. Did I hear that little voice in my head saying, "Who am I to do this?" or "Melissa, you're out of your league"? You bet I did. But even as I hit send on those email invites, I reminded myself: With 12 years of coaching experience and my proven method, my impostor syndrome can stick around, but it won't stop the party. Let's turn this to you….Picture this: You've got dreams as big as the sky, but every time you take a step forward, that little voice in your head whispers, "Who are you kidding?" It's time to put an end to that self-doubt and reclaim your power. As a mom founder, you're already juggling a million things. You don't have time or resources to waste on self-doubt. That's where my method comes in - it's not just about suppressing those feelings; it's about conquering them and stepping into your greatness. Enter my Imagination to Impact to Income Method ™. This isn't your average self-help spiel; it's a battle plan tailored specifically for moms like us. With my proven strategies, you'll learn to crush imposter syndrome and turn your dreams into reality. But don't take my word for it. Listen to what one of my incredible clients had to say: Melissa will push you out of your comfort zone, will force you to really look at where you are and where you want to go, and then push you to think even further.  Then, she will help you come up with steps to get to your goal and provide support as you do the work.  Her ideas are incredible, her methods to get you out of your rut and propel you forward are unmatched.  Her Q&A is awesome, especially when she says, okay, let's do this together and sits with you on Linkedin to find the contacts or writes an email with you or otherwise helps you get where you want to go even when you're overwhelmed or uncertain what is next.     So, how do we tackle imposter syndrome head-on? We start by breaking free from societal norms and embracing our limitless potential. This requires expansive thinking which is also known as a fertile imagination. You have choices that you will not even think about if you limit yourself to what you've tried or seen other people in your circles do.     In my program, I go through the ACE acronym which stands for asset, community, explain…without expansive thinking you will never come up with the idea to use impostor syndrome as an asset….there are other options available to mom founders which I have used and teach. From there, we dive into strategic networking and intentional relationship-building, because success isn't just about what you know; it's about who you know and how you leverage those connections. If you are stuck in step one I feel like an impostor and I do not have a method that works for me then you won't talk to stakeholders. You won't aim for the top of the food chain in your industry. You'll stay in the middle limited by your comfort level. And it we play this out to leveraging these connections…it won't happen….you'll talk to people without the power, authority, or know-how to help you achieve your company vision in a short period of time…you won't have the guts either to ask for what you REALLY want. A lot is at stake if you do not pre-plan for how you will handle impostor syndrome as a mom founder and certainly not as one with big hopes, ideas, and dreams that you want to bring to life in this lifetime. Remember, embracing your limitless potential starts with breaking free from imposter syndrome and leveraging your network for success. Don't let self-doubt hold you back from achieving your dreams. It's time to rewrite your narrative and step boldly into your greatness. And now, I want to tell you how I can help you right now….this is huge and something I'm totally excited about it because it is about bringing mom founders out of the sidelines….from the networking conversations they need to be having to fast-track their success! Listen in: I've got an opportunity you won't want to miss. Introducing "Fertile Imagination to Instant Access: A LIVE 9-week group coaching masterclass" - your fast track to success. E13 | Finding The Path To Wholeness with Annie Chevalier: Part 1 Sometimes you feel stuck, and that's okay. Because, well, life. You're busy coping with the latest emergency, struggle, or high-stakes situation, and by the time it's resolved, you've developed unhealthy habitual patterns of being that are hard to shake. Our guest this week, Annie, was on track to live the life she wanted. She had a thriving career, a happy marriage, and a newborn son. But then a car accident derailed everything. Not only did her injuries leave her with chronic pain, but she's been in limbo for thirteen years, unable to work while the insurance company deliberates. During this time, she's been in survival mode and hasn't dared to dream or hope for anything. Unfortunately, to cope with life experiences like these, sometimes we become a different version of ourselves, possibly one we no longer recognize. This is what happened to Annie. Throughout the years, she lost herself - her passions, confidence, and dreams - and became increasingly isolated from others. She was held captive by her pain and immobilized by the opinions of others. Maybe you can relate to her story. Has a major life event or traumatic experience changed you in some way? Do you wonder how you'll ever get back to being you? If so, this episode is for you! E11 | Running On Empty Trying To Keep Everyone Happy with Mathias Woronchak: Part 2 We're following up this week with Mathias, an overworked and burnt-out small business owner looking for greater fulfillment in his work and personal life. Just four weeks after our first conversation, we reconnected to discover his biggest takeaways and how they've affected his life since we spoke. One thing I've noticed about Mathias is he's a doer. He takes all of his responsibilities seriously, including the little experiments we asked him to try in last week's episode. The purpose of little experiments is to dabble in change - to try a different way of doing or thinking about something without making a full-fledged commitment to change it permanently. There is no "should" or "shouldn't" in the experimentation process, only curiosity. The experiments are not intended to bind you to something long-term but to help you explore alternatives for short periods. The most important part of the experimentation process is collecting the data. How did you feel before, during, and after the experiment? Were the results what you expected, or did you surprise yourself? Did the process spark new ideas for further experimentation? I see the experimentation process as an important "doing" exercise, while the data collection process is more "being" focused, requiring introspection and self-reflection. Let's see how it went for Mathias... E10 | Running On Empty Trying To Keep Everyone Happy with Mathias Woronchak: Part 1 In this week's episode, we talk with Mathias, who feels restless within the confines of a life he admits he freely chose - thirty years ago. Although he owns and operates a thriving small business, he wonders if his time and energy would be more impactful elsewhere. The pervading theme of this episode seems to be Mathias's sense of duty and a perceived lack of freedom to do what nurtures and renews him. He's a dutiful son, active in his community, and devoted to his clientele. He loves and appreciates his partner of five years but is so overwhelmed by his obligations and time commitments that they don't get to spend enough quality time together. Mathias is a giver, but as he explains throughout the episode, it's difficult to pour from an empty cup. His story is not uncommon. In fact, as you listen, you'll likely relate on some level. But the answer is simple, really. The restlessness he feels is his heart telling him to slow down, do less, and prioritize his dreams - if he can remember what they are. E8 | Connecting To Your Spirit Through Big Life Transitions with Elena Borrega: Part 2 This week, we welcome back Elena for part two of Connecting to Your Spirit Through Big Life Transitions. In this episode, Elena shares five powerful ways to recalibrate when you feel rocked by a new experience happening in your life. For Elena, the catalyst for her deep spiritual growth journey was the process of retirement. For you, it might be the ending of a relationship or the start of a new one. It might be the birth of a child, the loss of a pet, or adjusting to your new body after weight loss. Throughout the episode, Elena shares with us the practices she uses to nurture her spiritual connection - things like a daily review, journaling, and silent retreats (which you can do at home). Any external transition, big or small, can lead to internal questions about who you are and where you belong. But by connecting to your spirit, you'll discover that everything you need and want is within you. In this quick 20-minute episode, you'll learn tangible ways to step into your divine spiritual energy and open your heart to the possibility that whatever is happening right now is happening for you. Are you ready? Let's dive in! Show Notes & Transcript ⏭️ Listen to E7 | Connecting To Your Spirit Through Big Life Transitions with Elena Borrega: Part 1 The Episode at a Glance... [2:00] Elena talks about silent retreats as a way to develop your spirituality. [3:20] Don't have the time or resources to go to a silent retreat? Create your own at home! [4:40] Ak yourself, "How am I going to show up for people? How will I respond to difficult people and circumstances?" [5:20] Responding with the light in you. Use a lovingkindness meditation, which involves mentally sending goodwill, kindness, and warmth towards yourself and others by silently repeating a series of mantras. [6:50] It's okay to have moments where you're not your best. The practice is to become increasingly aware of the way you show up in the world and make adjustments as you grow. It's never too late to shift. [8:40] Elena talks about reviewing your day, where you look for the ways you showed up and the things you might need to work on. [10:15] Ron stresses the importance of asking yourself when reviewing your day why you didn't show up the way you wanted to. Why did that trigger you? Why was that your reaction to that situation? It's dealing with the root of the problem instead of just the fruit of the problem. [11:40] Elena talks about her resistance relationship with journaling and the importance of meditation, prayer, or contemplation before journaling. [14:15] Ron suggests using key words or phrases when journaling and taking inventory of where you've been. [15:49] Janelle talks about how documenting the details of the day has been her go-to journaling process but it feels tedious and disconnected now and doesn't serve her anymore. [16:45] Elena shares an easy first step to take on the path to deeper spiritual connection. Your Feedback is Appreciated What did you think of this shorter episode? E7 | Connecting To Your Spirit Through Big Life Transitions with Elena Borrega: Part 1 Today's episode is part one of a two-part discussion with Elena, a former daycare director who has recently retired from a career she loved for over forty years. During our discussion, we examine something we don't talk openly about in society - the emotional toll of big life transitions like retirement. The truth is, it's not unusual to experience grief, deep sadness, loss of identity, and depression. A big life transition can be any major event that challenges who you believe yourself to be, like: Becoming a parent A child leaving the nest A marriage or relationship dissolving Getting sick or injured Losing a job Retiring Losing a loved one Throughout this episode, Elena shares how the process of retiring was an emotional roller coaster with unexpected twists and turns. But she has an incredible message of hope to share with those who are going through a similar shift. Elena says that if you approach the process with openness, self-compassion, and surrender, it offers a beautiful and profound opportunity for deep personal and spiritual growth. [1:30] Elena talks about the struggle to find meaning and purpose after leaving her 40-year career. She knew grasping at any opportunity to busy herself wouldn't serve her and instead trusted that life would bring what it needed to bring. [3:00] Elena shares how her faith and the support of her community helped her to come to a place where she felt okay inside, but it didn't happen quickly, and she didn't rush the process. [5:00] Elena talks about the importance of a daily routine to prepare your heart and mind for the period of growth and renewal that lies ahead. [5:50] Elena shares that a significant part of her process was making space for the opportunities that she knew were coming to pour meaning back into her life. And sure enough, opportunities came, one by one. [6:50] Stephen Covey's wall reference in The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, "If the ladder is not leaning against the right wall, every step we take just gets us to the wrong place faster." [8:15] Elena talks about the term "discernment" and what it means to her. [10:05] Ron asks Elena to share her perception of the difference between "grasping" and "discerning." [11:20] How do we prove our worth and do we have to? Elena talks about frequently being asked, "So, what did you do today?" [12:40] Elena talks about how social media and technology make it difficult to be in our "being" state. [13:15] Janelle asks Elena to share what a good first step might be for someone feeling lost and misunderstood during a major life transition like divorce, illness, or retirement. [16:00] Elena talks about facing her own mortality. [16:30] Ron talks about the inevitability of death, quoting Wayne Dyer, "Experience life on the active side of infinity, knowing yourself first and foremost as a spiritual being having a temporary human experience, rather than the other way around." [17:10] Ron talks about facing his mortality and the importance of making a conscious decision every day to be grateful for life and live it to the fullest, with more presence and less pressure to be productive. [18:54] Janelle reminds us that although we need to show up in the world, we have to start by showing up for ourselves first. [19:35] Janelle asks Elena to describe what a spiritual director is and how to get one. How to Find a Spiritual Director: Elena recommends the Ignatian Spirituality Center of Montreal for spiritual retreats and spiritual direction. As long as you keep moving, you are moving closer to your dream! I repeat this to myself at least once a week. It is your duty, to share the knowledge and the passion about your service or product with anyone that will listen! Can this be hard, YESS! I can’t say that enough. Will everyone understand what you are talking about or your passion, no, but that twinkle behind your eye may catch the attention or your largest producer or your best client. It is possible to make a sale without being salesy and just sharing what you love. The excitement, the drive, the creativity that goes into the way you explain your service or product may just be the right words to turn a no into a maybe. Then by showing consistency, that maybe may turn into a absolutely.Krisitie has multiple examples of types of business, so this does not fall into just one category. STOOOOPPP WHAT YOU ARE DOING! If you have ever thought I’m nervous what blah blah blah will think. What if people unfollow me. What if they talk bad about me this interview is for you!As I interview people, it is the exact message I needed to hear that day. It has been the craziest circumstances, but very eye opening. Monique hit on perfection and not worrying about other opinions. I have yet to meet someone that hasn’t suffered from 1 of these 2 issues, if not both! Being too perfect can be a barrier to entry for you + finally launching your business. Evaluate what is benefiting you and what is limiting. Recognize things can be excellent without being perfect, and they are still very good. It is ok to revise! Think about YOUR why and why it is important to you. Why is your passion important + why does someone else’s opinion matter to me. Your passion is going to help you help people, show people the correct way of doing something, and bring financial abundance in your life. Why are you letting someone else’s opinion get in the way of your happiness!Once you know your why, the messaging behind your why just may show that what is important to you and they can get on board or move.Keep in mind if you are hiding from perfection or opinions of others people are not benefiting from your messaging, your why, and you. Business can be very fun and lucrative! It can also be soul crushing all around money, family, and friendships. Let’s be honest, being an entrepreneur has some REALLY good days and some REALLY bad bays. What makes you an entrepreneur is the fact you keep going and conquer all days! One would never ideally think about a family member or friend purposely giving them  bad advice, right! Well, it happens. I think most cases I hear about a deal doing bad there is a family or friend involved that meant well at the beginning. I know when you are out there hustling for business and spending your last few cents on pb&j or 1 more campaign it may be hard to see the value in discussing with an attorney or advisor. I didn’t see the value either when I was starting, but just like John, $100 could have saved him thousands + all the time spent. There are pretty inexpensive options when looking for quick business advice. Below I listed two I found from a simple Google search, keep in mind you can always interview attorneys in your area and they may have a lower fee for inquiries. I have not tried these or give any advice on which is best. Please do your research!www.legalshield.comwww.legalzoom.com Facebook Instagram Pinterest Want to get the most out of it? This takeaway is a little different. I normally like to give specific actionable steps on how to avoid the type of failure we discussed. I don’t want you to think, ugh I am wasting my time there’s no steps here, but this is something I had to do myself to really determine my journey. In this take away I want you to dive deep! We can give millions of excuses, but why do you actually tell yourself NO! Are you justifying your lack of conscience? Are you worried about what some may think? What about if you fail?Dig deep to find your no. Most likely this is a seed that was planted in you very early in life. It may even been by mistake, but ultimately it comes back to your responsibility to determine it and fix it. Find your “problems” and when you take the time to learn about yourself, that may be your passion project. You may be a warrior in finding your problem that you can actually help others in overcoming that struggle or battle. I know it sounds so crazy! A year ago, I would not be writing anything like this! If I didn’t dig deep myself I would have NEVER known what I really wanted in life and everything would just continue being a dream. Most importantly, I need you to understand that the way you feel about yourself and the thoughts you allow to control your mind. Think honestly and openly how you feel about yourself. Seriously, do you tell yourself not to eat that because you are fat. Do you say things like “I’m too broke” are you putting yourself down any time you can? You can write this down or just keep this in your mind when you go to make a little decision in your head. You will begin to notice how you speak to yourself and what you allow yourself to believe. Now that you are aware of your thoughts. You have cleared your mind and you are working on talking positive to yourself, your passions and business will come next. You must operate on a clear & honest mindset. Without faith, awareness, and honest mindset you will not be able to think of goals clearly. Nor will you connect with your audience because it will probably feel like you are hiding something. Think of your audience as your best friend that knows everything about you. Now, take it away! I cannot wait to see your business thrive. You can hear my personal deep dive story (well the specific highlights) on The Stranded Phase Podcast. #007 Grow Your Business by Getting Rid of Tasks

If I could, I would delegate my life. After my burn out, I spent HOURS learning about delegation. My mentor told me about it, told me I needed help, but never explained how to find it or how to train and actually delegate. My doctor kept telling me I needed to unload my schedule and make my life less stressful. Basically, delegation is necessary, but can be SO hard for any business owner! You may be thinking, well I can’t afford to hire someone. Do you know how much the service cost? How much time or money are they costing you? Can your business afford a burnout? If hiring someone for a few dollars will skyrocket your business, would you do it? David mentions that not delegating is like running your business looking at your feet. Then when you look up you are hitting a wall of either financial struggle or burnout. A few hours a day or a few tasks weekly that can free up your time may be worth looking into a Virtual Assistant for or finding services like the ones featured below to free up some time! There are so many different ways to delegate “easy stuff” in your life. Below is a list of services I use to delegate tasks I can live without doing! UberEATS - Pick up take out Use my code to get $5 off your first order: eats-megang3375ue Instacart - Grocery Shop Mynt - Car Wash HootSuite - Posting on Social Media Consistently Chewy - Auto Ordering Pet Food Uber - Driving LOL Use my code to get $5 off your first order: eats-megang3375ue Thrive Market - Healthy Foods (they have automation) Other ways you can automate, that I don’t use Hiring Cleaners - I actually enjoy this if we follow the Guide to Unwind method of a little cleaning each day. Fill your gas tank Grocery Store Automated Shipping Care.com - I was a nanny on here in college and found an AMAZING family I worked for, for years. They still use girls from my sorority - for mostly driving the kids around now! Rover - I am hesitant to share this because I would never hire someone to walk my dogs because they are a handful and Baby gets overly excited with little dogs. Call Centers - that answer and have a call log for your business Service Providers (tax professional, virtual assistant, marketing, social media, website, IT people, etc.) Laundry services A tip that I revisit every 90 days is to write down a list of everything I do and make sure to add everything you hate. If you have an assistant or someone to delegate tasks to - make videos (I have an example in the FREE Virtual Assistant Course at the bottom) If you do not have someone and do not want to hire - look for a service. Go to Google, look for a service and one of my FAVORITE new tricks is to wait a couple days after visiting a service provider’s site (make sure you are signed into facebook on your computer) and. They find you now! I have hired, purchased, or looked into companies I found this way. #006 Pitch Yourself — Knowing Your Audience

Refuse Defeat with Megan

Whether you are pitching for a potentially life changing event, like Joshua was for TEDx, preparing for an interview, or pitching your services to a potential client you should know about your audience. Event Pitch: Choose the event you wish to be apart of. Do your research on HOW TO APPLY. Most of the time, you can Google the event and someone has written an article on their experience or you may even find the perfect how-to apply guide. Do your research on the actual event type. After this interview I did some research on TEDx talks in my area. I found it extremely easy to find information once I started looking for it. (I even applied for one! The one I applied for had a theme, and I’m not sure if I am actually a good fit - but I will let them make the decision.) *Make sure to know if there is a due date for submissions! Now, the lesson Joshua mentioned is knowing the audience. If you do enough digging, you can find the information on the people in charge of the event. I am not sure if you would be able to find the judges information, but being aware of your surroundings. This was at a college - if he thought about their audience it probably was something they wanted to appeal to colleges. Now, this is a mistake that I would have easily made because it is an opinion. That is what TEDx represents is a new way of thinking, so to vito someone based on a different way of thinking is a not an ideal situation.Another important lesson is, instead of choosing a huge uproar he applied for another event and nailed it! I included the link below if you would like to watch! Joshua mentions that he actually has attracted a client from this TEDx talk. What if he did the first one and the new client never saw it?! He could have ran away from the organization and never reapplied - and never got that client or the next that comes from it! I am a huge believer in the power of the mind and how you react to situations. This is a lesson I have trained myself to believe. Over the years, I felt like I messed up or I did something wrong. Training myself to take this as a lesson and learning from it instead of hiding has been life changing. If you get the opportunity to share your ideas or present: Study, be prepared, and do amazing! This is what you dreamed of!If you don’t get it, reapply or find a way around. The only no you should listen to is the one that you accept. MAKE THIS A LESSON. #004 Consistency is Key — The Opportunity Will Present Itself

Refuse Defeat with Megan

When opportunity presents itself, take it! Showing up is more than half the battle. Side story: A while ago I was hiring an assistant. After multiple no-shows I got excited when someone showed up. Good interview or bad, they showed up! That says something. This wasn’t some minimum wage job out in the sun job either; good pay, health benefits, 401k, the whole nine yards (no degree necessary, 100% on the job training). And the person that got hired was 1/9 interviews scheduled. Can you believe it?! All she had to do was show up and she got the job. Jodi mentioned she stayed consistent, her clients could trust her to show up! By just staying consistent you will build trust. Her clients could trust her to put them through a nice hard and sweaty workout (very sweaty - I participated in a workout before we recorded) every time they showed up for a class. They never drove all the way to the gym to find out class was cancelled for the day.Have you ever shown up somewhere and they were closed during normal business hours? I have! Now, call me crazy, but when I check your store hours online (on your website) the store should be open right? The only place near me that has acai bowls seems to have missed that memo. They were consistent for a while, but then all of a sudden, it was a guess if during normal business hours someone would be there. I wouldn’t say I was a regular, but one would assume that they are closed for good. Honestly, after about 3 random closed times I haven’t been back. I had to find another place that is a little further away, but I know they are there for a yummy acai bowl! You are losing current business by breaking trust with your customers/clients. You could be losing future business for your inconsistency.Jodi showed up, people gained trust, and brought their friends. This is a perfect example of encouraging more business! Why wouldn’t you want to train hard for someone that is always there to encourage you? She jumped on the opportunity to be uncomfortable, grow personally and start a profitable business that fulfills her passion of fitness! The first step was staying consistent through the scary times and the good times.Contact Jodi at The Body Shoppe Fit! @jobodyfit Facebook Instagram Pinterest Want to get the most out of it? #003 How to Monetize Your Business in 3 Steps

Refuse Defeat with Megan

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 11, 2018 13:42

Monetization is an interesting topic for me. Any time I start a project, I think, how am I going to get paid IF I continue with this project. Often, I lose interest in the project or have a “shiny object” syndrome where I find something better to occupy my time if I’m not making a return on time/value as fast as I would like. Let me hear yaaaaa if you feel this way! This part of the conversation really spoke to me because I have stayed consistent with the idea on MeganGalane.com, I’ve known I want to build a business helping business owners, but I just haven’t figured out that exact, how am I going to set myself apart — HOW. I love providing these podcasts and sharing these awesome business owners (and their businesses) I have met along the way. Kyle and Rachel stated some very interesting points on how they got started and monetized because they had to! Their goal was to have their joint income coming from their business, but they didn’t have the direction when they first started. If you are feeling like this, I put together a list of the talking points that I felt really helped Kyle and Rachel determine their path: Create your passion/determine the direction of your business Ex: Rescuing relationships and building intimacy, by bridging the gap between a self-help book and a therapist.  Create a 90 Day Goal, what do you want to accomplish in the next 90 days? How are you going to accomplish this? Put together you 90 Day Plan. - If you haven’t already checked out 90 Day Year from Todd Herman, you should. I actually met Rachel and Kyle at the annual 90 Day Year Live Event. Ex. Content schedule anchored with a entry price course regarding this material, your listeners know what is coming and you provide more information at a lesser price than your full blown course or service.  You have your 90 Day Plan, now execution. What steps do you need to take to make sure you reach your goal. Is it providing content every week? What about making 20 calls to potential clients? Asking for help from a mentor. Whatever you do, execute. You are the profesional, don’t overwhelm your viewers with a waterhose method and hope they stick around. Provide valuable, helpful information your subscribers want to learn. - Rachel and Kyle tell their exact method on how they reused popular content (they already had) and monetize from it.   Ex. Follow the steps of your plan and continue building a consistent schedule and consistent paid content. In addition, build a higher priced item around your popular entry level material. This list is SO basic. When you get into the “nuts and bolts” of a business that you are passionate about, often we lose site in getting paid. This was a challenge for Rachel and Kyle, that they overcame about found different methods to provide for multiple price points. Interviewing the two of them together was pretty amazing in the fact we have two failures that were overcame. Kyle felt his was trusting himself and building confidence in his new position in the business. I will tell you my exact failure in my own business. IT IS THIS! This is a HUGE mindset shift that you (and I) must go through in order to succeed. In the near future I will create an article all about mindset shift. #001 Introduction to Refuse Defeat

Refuse Defeat with Megan

Play Episode Listen Later May 21, 2018 6:53

How Refuse Defeat Came About AHHHH — I am so excited to be sharing failures of people that seem to have their sh*& together! Seriously, I hate watching all these people on social media looking like they didn’t want to run away from all their problems at some point. I started Refuse Defeat to share business owner’s failures that almost ended their business! I actually got this great idea from a seminar I attended in the spring of 2018. I will share the name at a later date once I get the seminar host to come on the show ;). I told myself, going into this seminar I am not going to watch from the sidelines and not meet people and just reach out later and hope for the best. So, I waited until the last possible moment to share my win for the event! IT WAS AN AMAZING FEELING. I had the happy shakes and tears (so embarrassing). I was in line at the end of a 3 day seminar getting ready to take my picture with the cool host ever and then this bada$ business woman comes up to me and gives me a hug to tell me how proud she is of me for talking. I didn’t know this lady and never talked to her. I saw her around through the event, but never had the chance to meet her. Side note: the whole freaking event was filled with bada$ business owners, so the feedback I received all 3 days was super helpful! This lady did however stand up multiple times throughout the event so I felt like I semi knew her so I was overly joyed someone with such an awesome business resume came up to me to say I did great. As the story goes on we get to talking on how I can reach my audience. She gave me how she did it, how she grew her group, and just how she came up with this information. Literally, after 3 days it hit me. I was targeting someone who wasn’t going to understand me. We brainstormed where I would have went for information when I was overwhelmed, the topics I would have been searching and she just gave me words of advice. That, my friends, is the start of Refuse Defeat! I realized, I was listening and reading about how these people who built their empire, how they wake up at this time to do these tasks, how they do their hardest work in the morning, and just overall all these great concepts that work for them. I was wanting to mold my business into those of successful empires - but that just wasn’t working for me. She asked me, what do you like doing - well I like to lift in the mornings, I manage to do cardio after, then I take my dogs on a walk. I like to listen to educational podcasts while I do all this. If I don’t listen to an educational podcast during this time, I make sure to add it on my drive. (This was my ah-ha moment) She was like - well why wouldn’t you do a podcast instead of forced videos? I was like AHHHHHH I don’t freaking know why I would struggle to do videos if I don’t have to. Podcast style I don’t have to be dressed with makeup done and the other person can be themselves. As I started asking people to join me on this venture. I thought - how cool would it be if they could show their business and what they do if they want. I am not worried about the looks of being perfect, if the person I am interviewing is telling about their failures. Why can’t I show, we aren’t all perfect! Who cares if my lighting is perfect, my ideal listener wants the juicy details to make sure their business thrives! I hope you enjoy the show! I will be posting 2 times per month to get started. If you are interested in being on the show or know someone that is a perfect fit - please submit the information RIGHT HERE! I will do my best to accommodate!
