Federal Tech Podcast: Listen and learn how successful companies get federal contracts
A recent study by Deloitte indicates that 67% of executives struggle with data analytics. The knight in shining armor that offers a rescue is artificial intelligence. Today's interview pours the promise of artificial intelligence into both ends of the spectrum: qualifying data sets that are being used and, subsequently, producing explainable results. The headline overview of artificial intelligence involves writing a report by ChatGPT. Although that may be true, the article will be derivative and will not move the ball intellectually. You will hear Kyle Rice discuss how Virtualitics can use artificial intelligence methods to look at data sets that are being investigated. Once those libraries are produced, then they can take artificial intelligence to look at making conclusions. When analysis is approached from that point, you eliminate the guess-and-test method. That is to say, there is a good chance that the hypotheses that are created by humans. In other words, you will not spend precious time trying to answer the wrong questions. Virtualitics poses that a rational way to generate data sets can give users the ability to form elusive data-derived decisions. During the interview, Kyle describes the approach as “intelligent data exploration.” The added value of this approach is defensibility. For example, if a data scientist produces a conclusion, their sources can be questioned. Instead of pointing to a black box in the corner, a team can produce explainable artificial intelligence. Today's guest loves growing early-stage B2B software companies. He's helped multiple companies get acquired by partners like Salesforce and Concentrix. John Boucher is the Operating Partner at Stage 2 Capital and GTM Advisor for both Seismic Software and Virtualitics, Inc. John joins Host Matt Benelli to discuss the importance of investing in developing your team, doing the right things as a leader, and how to grow your sales coaching tree. Takeaways:Building a great team starts with finding the best people for the role and then helping them to become better at it. While lots of resources are poured into talent searches, it's crucial that there is considerable budget for developing that talent once hired.Money spent on training employees to be more productive and effective must be seen as an investment. A critical factor in ensuring the return on that investment is holding people accountable and making sure that field managers implement the training. To get the necessary resources to implement effective coaching, company leadership must believe that it's worth it for salespeople to take time out of the field to receive training and coaching. By hiring great people, you will build a team that wants to be even better and you need to give them the opportunity to become better at their craft. In a sales organization, the individuals on your team want to be better than each other and the competition. Many studies have shown that people stay at companies because of the people they work for and the way they are treated by their employers. Retention rises when people feel that they are growing professionally, respected, treated fairly, being given an opportunity, which all come the individual leader that is helping them.A major reason for why performance reviews feel awkward is that the manager is not giving the sales rep regular feedback on a consistent basis. Regular performance reviews is vital to driving long-term results within your team.As a leader it is critical to always do the right thing even when no one's around and even when it's difficult. Your team will learn to develop the same habits and judgements as you, thereby passing along the knowledge of what the right thing is to do. Quote of the Show:“This is a people business. Today's guest is Aakash Indurkhya, Co-Head of AI at Virtualitics. Virtualitics is a venture-backed firm based in Pasadena, California. In this episode, we discuss what it means to explore our data and identify where the gaps in our data quality or potentially the gaps in essential data fields are. Aakash speaks to us this week about not only what exploration, that is to say, why it's valuable conceptually – when dealing with tremendous volumes of data, what does exploration accomplish, and where specifically, better exploration can lead to better results? He dives into two specific use-cases, one in drug development and one in retail. While these are vastly different worlds, these use-cases focus on exploring data well to train an AI model and deliver the desired results in the enterprise. Aakash provides an excellent conceptual overview from a C-suite vantage point of the role. Virtualitics sponsor this episode. VR data science, an article by Graham Waters The article by Graham Waters talks about augmented reality data exploration. This is a new form of data visualization that allows for greater insight into the data. It can be done with either AR or VR, which leads to different types of insights depending on the specific software being used. This article covers 3 companies in this new field: BadVR, Virtualitics, and 3Data. All three have innovative ideas and interesting ways for people to experience their data in a new way. While AR and VR are still in their infant stages for data visualization, it is already being explored by companies and is only going to grow more popular as time goes on. This article covered the benefits of this new data visualization method can be for businesses, as well as the different ways in which it can be done. It is a great new way to look at some of the data that we have, and it can help lead to greater insights than just looking at a 2-dimensional computer screen. We recommend the article by Graham Waters in ML earning.ai
