How can you use AI to better understand your labs without replacing your doctor? I'm talking with Dr. Darshan Shah about one of the most exciting shifts happening in health: the intersection of AI, personalized medicine, and longevity. Dr. Shah is a physician, founder of Next Health, and the author of the upcoming book Your New Health OS, and he breaks down how women can start using labs, wearables, and AI in a smarter, safer way. We also dig into why muscle, hormones, HRV, morning routines, and the basics of lifestyle medicine still matter more than the flashiest biohacks. What you'll learn: (05:35) AI is changing personalized health and why women over 40 need to learn how to use it wisely. (08:01) Lab testing is more available than ever, and how AI can help connect the dots between your results. (10:22) How to use wearables without creating data anxiety or obsessing over daily scores. (11:27) HRV is one of the most important health metrics to track for stress, recovery, and nervous system balance. (17:17) What a digital twin is and how it could help predict your response to health interventions. (22:29) Why Dr. Shah created Next Health and how it brings longevity, functional medicine, and biohacking tools under one roof. (24:22) Sleep, exercise, nutrition, and metabolic health need to come before advanced longevity therapies. (33:33) Why skeletal muscle mass may be the most important health metric for women over 40 to track. Love the podcast? Here's what to do: Subscribe to the podcast. Leave a review. AI isn't necessarily creating impossible new attacks, but it is drastically lowering the technical barrier to entry for cybercriminals. In this episode, Ashish Rajan speaks with Simon Biggs, Cyber Incident Response Specialist at Varonis, about how AI is accelerating the attack lifecycle. Simon explains how attackers are using AI kits to instantly set up ephemeral phishing portals, query SQL databases in minutes, and bypass AI guardrails to compile Remote Access Trojans (RATs). We also discuss the shift in ransomware tactics from "encryption-first" to "data-theft-first," and how AI empowers attackers to post-process terabytes of stolen data to monetize it in novel ways. For defenders, the message is clear: if your S3 access logs and SQL transaction logs aren't turned on before a breach, your forensics team won't be able to tell lawyers or regulators what data was actually lost. Discover why data classification and proactive logging are the ultimate lifelines for IR teams in the AI age. In this episode of One Vision Podcast, Danny Friday, CEO and Founder of Sail, joins Theodora Lau to unpack why the "boring" corners of fintech — HSA and FSA accounts — are exactly where the next wave of meaningful innovation is hiding. Danny shares the origin story behind Sail: a claim over a Spanish-language dental receipt that exposed a deeper challenge about regulated industries: most of their software isn't broken by accident, it's broken by indifference to user experience. They dig into why no one had built itemized, embedded HSA/FSA infrastructure before now, what changed technically to make it possible, and why Danny insists AI should never make the hard calls. The conversation closes on a bigger bet: that within three to five years, every digital banking app will help people reimburse tax-advantaged expenses, and what that means for the industry.

Digital Pathology Podcast

Send us Fan MailHow far can pathologists take visual biomarker scoring before human vision becomes the bottleneck? In this episode, I talk with Doug Bowman. PhD, VP Precision Medicine at Indica Labs, about what happens when companion diagnostics move from traditional visual scoring into the era of AI-powered image analysis. Doug comes from a biomedical and electrical engineering background, with experience in microscopy, digital image analysis, pharma workflows, and now precision medicine at Indica Labs. That combination makes him a great person to talk to about how image analysis actually fits into real companion diagnostic development. We start with a very practical question: what is a companion diagnostic, and why is it becoming so important in precision medicine? Doug explains that companion diagnostics are developed alongside therapeutics to help identify which patients are most likely to benefit from a specific treatment, especially in more complex therapies like antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). We use HER2 as an example, and from there we get into the real challenge: once a biomarker cutoff matters clinically, visual estimation around that cutoff becomes much harder than many people want to admit. That is where this conversation gets especially useful for pathologists and digital pathology trailblazers. We talk about the limits of human vision, why low or ultra-low biomarker expression is difficult to score consistently, and how AI helps at multiple levels of the workflow: slide QC, tissue classification, cell segmentation, membrane and cytoplasmic measurement, and spatial analysis. Doug makes the case that AI is not only a convenience here. In some cases, it is the only realistic way to capture the kind of quantitative information modern therapies need.We also get into one of the more interesting examples from the episode: the Trop2 story, where a ratio of cytoplasmic to membrane expression appears to predict therapeutic efficacy better than looking at one compartment alone. That kind of compartment-level quantitation is exactly where computational pathology becomes more than a digital version of what the eye already does. It starts uncovering measurements and signatures the eye cannot reliably extract on its own.Another important part of the discussion is workflow and regulation. Doug walks through how AI-powered companion diagnostics are developed from preclinical work, to human feasibility studies, to RUO or clinical trial assays, and eventually toward analytical and clinical validation with regulatory engagement happening early. We also talk about the Indica Labs and Leica Biosystems partnership, and why end-to-end capability matters when you are trying to build something clinically deployable rather than just analytically interesting. What I liked about this conversation is that it stayed grounded. We did not talk about AI as magic. We talked about image analysis as a method, companion diagnostics as a workflow, and precision medicine as something that only works when the measurement is good enough to support real decisions.Episode Highlights00:00 – Why AI matters in slide QC, tissue classification, and cell-level analysis before you even get to the biomarker score.00:54 – Doug Bowman's background in biomedical engineering, microscopy, and digital image analysis.05:16 – What a companion diagnostic actually is, and why it is critical for targeted therapies and ADCs.07:34 – Why visual biomarker scoring becomes unreliable around critical cutoffs, especially in low-expression cases.10:09 – How AI expands the workflow: slide QC, tissue classification, and precise cell segmentation.13:07 – Why pathologists remain central in AI workflows through validation, markup review, and model refinement.16:31 – The Trop2 example: when cytoplasmic-to-membrane ratio tells you more than one compartment alone.20:23 – The Indica Labs + Leica Biosystems partnership and why end-to-end workflow matters in companion diagnostics.22:53 – What the development journey looks like from early algorithm work to RUO, validation, and regulatory interaction.26:51 – Multiplexing, spatial analysis, and why more clinical value often comes with more deployment complexity.33:29 – Why image analysis literacy matters, and how shared language between pathologists and scientists becomes essential.40:13 – Where to learn more about Indica Labs and who to contact for collaboration.Resources mentionedIndica Labs Indica Labs contact – info@indicalab.comHALO software / HALO AI diagnostic image analysis – discussed in the context of companion diagnostic deployment and pharma services.Leica Biosystems GT450DX – referenced as an FDA-cleared slide scanner in the Indica-Leica partnership.Digital Pathology Association – mentioned as part of the broader educational ecosystem for digital pathology and image analysis.Digital Pathology Place / Digital Pathology Podcast – the platform hosting this conversation and related education around digital pathology and AI.Support the showGet the "Digital Pathology 101" FREE E-book and join us!

Recorded live at the Thomson Reuters Advisory Symposium 2026 in Huntington Beach, CA on June 2, 2026, this special live episode of Pulse of the Practice features hosts Paul Miller (founder and owner of Business by Design, a firm specializing in advisory services and tax strategies for small business entrepreneurs) and Mo Arbas (Advisory Services Lead and thought-leadership presenter at Thomson Reuters events, passionate about challenge and change in the advisory space). In this high-energy, audience-driven session, Paul and Mo tackle the most pressing challenges facing tax and accounting firms right now — and lay out a compelling vision for what's coming next. They walk through a firm life cycle framework built around three concurrent cycles: the client cycle, the firm cycle, and a pre-cycle focused on prospecting — including the often-overlooked reality that your existing clients are prospects too.The conversation dives deep into three critical observations shaping the future of accounting firms:Capacity vs. Complexity — Client and firm complexity is increasing faster than most firms can keep up with, creating a bandwidth crisis that no amount of hustle alone can solve. The Knowledge Transfer Problem — Decades of expertise live in people's heads, and there's no easy way to transfer that institutional knowledge to new staff — until now.The AI Inflection Point — AI is no longer a future concept. It is actively reshaping firm workflows, and the next wave of agentic AI will bring more advancement in the next six months than the past ten years combined.Paul and Mo introduce the concept of Client Intelligence and Firm Intelligence — a framework for capturing unstructured conversational data, client context, and firm-specific knowledge to power smarter advisory workflows. They also preview Playbooks inside Ready to Advise, a feature designed to help firms standardize their advisory strategies by client persona, and discuss the vision of being able to speak a proposal into existence — letting AI do 80–90% of the scoping, pricing, and packaging work based on context gathered from real client conversations.Whether you're a solo practitioner or running a multi-office firm, this episode will challenge you to rethink your firm's life cycle, reclaim lost revenue opportunities, and start building toward a scalable, intelligent advisory practice.Topics covered:Firm and client life cycle frameworksAdvisory prospecting for new and existing clientsBandwidth and capacity challenges in accounting firmsAI and agentic workflows in tax and accountingClient Intelligence vs. Firm IntelligenceKnowledge transfer and staff training with AIAdvisory playbooks and client personasSpeaking a proposal into existencePricing strategy and scope definitionReady to Advise product updatesThomson Reuters Advisory Symposium 2026Join Paul Miller and Thomson Reuters Advisory Consultants as they have real and relevant conversations to provide you with inspirational and actionable ideas to move your firm forward — covering leadership, client relationships, firm culture, staffing, technology, and much more.

Artificial intelligence is helping transform how the Energy Department approaches one of its most complex challenges: cleaning up nuclear waste. At the 2026 SCSP AI+Expo, Savannah River National Laboratory Associate Laboratory Director for Environmental and Legacy Management Eric Pierce joined GovCIO Media & Research to discuss how the lab is applying AI to improve environmental monitoring, reduce costs and accelerate cleanup efforts across the Savannah River Site. Pierce highlighted SRNL's Advanced Long-Term Environmental Monitoring Systems (ALTEMIS), which uses AI to predict contaminated groundwater plume movement. The technology has reduced monitoring requirements from quarterly sampling across 2,000 wells to a single annual verification sample, significantly lowering costs while maintaining confidence in environmental safety. He also discussed the lab's AI Accelerated Strategies and Solutions in Environmental Technology (AI-ASSET) initiative, which builds on ALTEMIS by collecting real-time, AI-ready environmental data. Currently, roughly 30% to 40% of the site's data is prepared for AI applications. Pierce also explained how SRNL is working with industry and government partners to modernize the remaining data and expand the use of AI-driven environmental cleanup technologies. The effort is part of a broader DOE initiative exploring how AI can advance scientific discovery, operational efficiency and innovation across the national laboratory system.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is moving forward on AI-powered autonomous surveillance towers that are expected to be deployed across the southern border, signing a $71 million task order with GDIT last week. The award is the latest in a massive indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract, worth up to $1.8 billion, that kicked off three years ago and is aimed at modernizing and expanding CBP's surveillance tower system. GDIT is a key player in CBP's modernization plans as the prime contractor on a remote video surveillance program, the developer of a CBP database with quantum sensors and a fundamental part of a number of other projects including the smart border wall. Michael Wagner, VP of biometrics, border and transportation security at GDIT, told FedScoop that the company started working on this next-generation autonomous tower about three years ago and has gone through several iterations of solutioning and testing and validating out in the field. The American military deployed an autonomous Corsair maritime drone built by Saronic to find and recover two soldiers who were stranded near the Strait of Hormuz on Monday after their Army AH-64 Apache helicopter crashed during a patrol operation, U.S. Central Command spokesperson Capt. Tim Hawkins told DefenseScoop. The confirmation of this unique rescue mission comes as military tensions are surging in the Middle East amid the United States-Iran conflict. It marks the U.S. military's first publicized use of an autonomous surface vessel to locate and retrieve downed aircrew in real-world warfare, following years of experimentation with different types of sea drones. Hawkins said the drone used in the operation was a U.S. Navy Corsair unmanned surface vessel operated by U.S. 5th Fleet's Task Force 59. In that rescue operation, he told DefenseScoop, the maritime drone picked the two pilots up “and transported them to another location on the water where they were then hoisted up to a helicopter for further transport.” The Daily Scoop Podcast is available every Monday-Friday afternoon. By Doug Green “EnvisionDX helps you from the entire lifecycle — from adding a new site and getting a quote going, all the way through service delivery, monitoring and management.” In this Technology Reseller News Podcast, I spoke with Laura Lehman, Director of Digital Experience Product Management at GTT, about GTT EnvisionDX and how the platform is changing the way enterprises and partners quote, order and manage complex networking and security services. For enterprise IT teams and channel partners, one of the persistent challenges in global networking has been fragmentation. Quoting new services, validating site addresses, checking availability, managing installs and monitoring service performance have often required multiple systems, manual processes and repeated follow-up. Lehman explained that EnvisionDX was built to bring those workflows into a single digital experience. The platform provides visibility across the full lifecycle of a customer's network services, from initial quote through delivery and ongoing management. A key part of the discussion focused on real-time information. EnvisionDX allows users to see site-level details, service status, utilization and other operational data in one place. That matters because enterprise networks are increasingly distributed, with customers managing multiple locations, providers, security requirements and service types. Lehman also discussed one of the most common pain points in telecom quoting: address validation. EnvisionDX uses multiple address-validation tools, map-based views and latitude/longitude data to help users confirm exactly where a service is needed. The system allows a user to adjust a location pin on a map, helping improve quoting accuracy and reduce the risk of rework later in the process. The platform also highlights GTT's use of AI-powered tools to streamline partner and customer workflows. EnvisionDX supports more automated quoting and ordering processes, while giving users clearer visibility into the location, service and operational details that often determine whether a deployment goes smoothly. For partners, the result is a faster, more transparent quoting process. For enterprises, the benefit is greater confidence that services are being quoted, ordered and delivered based on accurate location and site-level information. The broader message is that enterprise networking is moving away from fragmented service portals and manual workflows toward unified digital platforms. EnvisionDX is GTT's effort to simplify that experience, giving customers and partners a clearer view of what they have, what they need and what is happening across their network. How Businesses Can Stay Ahead of AI-Powered Attacks

The Tech Blog Writer Podcast

Can businesses still rely on cybersecurity strategies that were designed for a very different threat environment? In this episode of Tech Talks Daily, I speak with Matt Knell from ESET about why many managed service providers and businesses are being forced to rethink what effective cybersecurity looks like in 2026. As cybercriminals become faster, more sophisticated, and increasingly powered by AI, many of the approaches that once provided reassurance are struggling to keep pace. Matt shares why the idea of "good enough" security is becoming increasingly difficult to defend. While endpoint protection remains an important part of any security strategy, he explains why technology alone is no longer enough. Organizations must continually review, update, and strengthen their defenses rather than assuming that yesterday's protections will be sufficient tomorrow. Our conversation explores the lasting impact of ransomware and the lessons businesses continue to learn from high-profile incidents. From major retailers to global manufacturers, attacks are creating operational disruption, financial losses, and reputational damage on a scale that few organizations would have imagined a decade ago. We also discuss one of the industry's most persistent challenges: the cybersecurity skills gap. Finding experienced security professionals remains difficult, while retaining talent has become equally challenging. Matt explains how managed detection and response services are helping MSPs extend their capabilities without having to build and maintain large security operations teams. AI naturally plays a major role in the discussion. While cybersecurity vendors use AI to improve threat detection and response, attackers are also leveraging the technology to accelerate and sophisticate phishing campaigns, social engineering, and other forms of cybercrime. Matt explains why businesses must remain realistic about both opportunities and risks. Another theme throughout the episode is the growing expectation that cybersecurity should be treated as a business issue rather than purely an IT concern. Regulations, cyber insurance requirements, supply chain scrutiny, and customer expectations are all increasing pressure on organizations to demonstrate stronger security practices and greater resilience. We also discuss ESET PRIVATE and why more organizations are seeking security services tailored to their specific operational needs. Rather than relying on a standard package, many businesses are looking for solutions that align with their industry requirements, compliance obligations, risk profile, and long-term objectives. Finally, Matt reflects on the conversations emerging from ESET's recent partner conference and shares his perspective on the topics shaping cybersecurity priorities for the coming year. AI, resilience, compliance, and business education continue to dominate discussions as organizations look for practical ways to strengthen their defenses. If you're an MSP, IT leader, business owner, or anyone responsible for protecting digital operations, this episode offers a timely look at the challenges facing organizations today and the steps many are taking to prepare for what comes next. Is your organization still relying on security strategies designed for yesterday's threats, or have you adapted to today's cyber risks?

AI is improving staff efficiency, reducing nuisance alarms, detecting unauthorized wandering, and transforming cameras into multifaceted sensors for tasks such as fall detection and asset tracking, all without constant human monitoring. Of particular concern is the rise in workplace violence, and these cameras can detect aggressive behavior before incidents escalate. Rick explains, "Hospitals are a unique use case where they are in a very public space. So how do you secure a public space? You have to really weigh the security versus public areas and then keep the really sensitive areas safe and secure. And even though it might be mainly public spaces, keep a vigilant watch on those spaces. And we're using now a lot of AI to help in that task to really react quickly, to be proactive when things do go awry."   "The most unmet needs, I would say, would be being more proactive in the workplace violence area. It is really increasing from all the studies I've been reading. We need to do a better job of heading off in the pass. And that's where AI is really helping. With AI, you can train the system to detect bad behaviors or aggressive behaviors in patients, contractors, or anyone. When that happens, the system can alert the operators. They can send out different kinds of alerts based on how important it is, which really helps create a safer environment. We also have a lot of wearables that have person-down alerts when something happens that can reinforce that whole response when something is going awry." #JohnsonContols #HealthcareSecurity #HospitalSafety #AIinHealthcare #ClinicalSafety #WorkplaceViolencePrevention #PPECompliance #InfectionControl #SmartHospital #DigitalHealth #HealthIT #PatientSafety #HealthcareInnovation #OperationalExcellence johnsoncontrols.com Download the transcript here

We also have a lot of wearables that have person-down alerts when something happens that can reinforce that whole response when something is going awry." #JohnsonContols #HealthcareSecurity #HospitalSafety #AIinHealthcare #ClinicalSafety #WorkplaceViolencePrevention #PPECompliance #InfectionControl #SmartHospital #DigitalHealth #HealthIT #PatientSafety #HealthcareInnovation #OperationalExcellence johnsoncontrols.com Listen to the podcast here

When the Pentagon formally designated Anthropic a “supply chain risk” this March, the dispute put a spotlight on civil liberties concerns in the AI-era. Anthropic had reportedly hit an impasse with the Trump administration over the company's push for guardrails banning the use of its Claude model to conduct mass surveillance. Anthropic's CEO had called such surveillance a “red line” it would not cross. But where exactly should those lines be drawn, and who should draw them? Few people have spent more time thinking about those issues than Cindy Cohn, executive director of the San Francisco-based civil liberties group Electronic Frontier Foundation. Throughout her career, EFF's executive director has been driven by a fundamental question: Can we still have private conversations if we live our lives online? Her new book, Privacy's Defender: My Thirty-Year Fight Against Digital Surveillance, chronicles her battles to protect our right to digital privacy. Cohn weaves her own personal story with the history of the Crypto Wars, FBI gag orders, and the post-9/11 surveillance state. She describes how she became a seasoned leader in the early digital rights movement, as well as how this work serendipitously helped her discover her birth parents and find her life partner. Along the way, she also details the development of the Electronic Frontier Foundation, which she grew from a ragtag group of lawyers and hackers into “one of the most powerful digital rights organizations in the world.” Cohn will be joined by Adam Savage, former co-host of the Discovery Channel show “Mythbusters,” to talk about the issues raised in her book, EFF's work, and the emerging battle over AI surveillance.
