Morgan saw a ghost, wth, happy thursday!!!!!! Little quick catch up chat (only 9 mins, record timing) and then we'll get creepy with ya, besties!! Taylar does a take over to cover the Colonial Parkway Murders that terrorized this area of Virginia for the last half of the 80s and beyond. 9 confirmed victims: Cathy, Becky, David, Robin, Keith, Cassandra, Annamaria, Daniel, and Terri. Spanning from 1986-1989 and an additional 5+ potential attacks. In 2022 a break in the case would lead to major developments that were released in January of this year (2024). In which, Alan W. Wilmer Sr. was confirmed to be behind two of the incidents. The FBI is still looking for information regarding Wilmers whereabouts and other information that would help connect him to other crimes that do not have DNA. So they are asking for help from the public. Here is the statement they left in a January 10, 2024 CNN article written by Steve Almasy and Sara Smart: “In the 1980s, Wilmer was a fisherman who often docked his commercial fishing boat in Gloucester County and Middlesex County, state police said in a news release. He also ran a tree service and hunted frequently. He was 5 feet, 5 inches tall, muscular and weighed approximately 165 pounds, according to state police, who have asked anyone who may have had contact with Wilmer to come forward. Wilmer drove a distinctive, blue 1966 Dodge Fargo pickup with the Virginia license plate “EM-RAW” and writing on the truck's passenger door. “Anyone who may have worked with Alan W. Wilmer Sr. or hunted with him, farmed oysters and clams with him, docked next to him at marinas in the Northern Neck, Hampton Roads or Middle Peninsula areas, or hung out with him is encouraged to contact the FBI by calling 1-800-CALL-FBI or submitting a tip online at www.tips.fbi.gov,” TTYL BESTIES!! ILY SO MUCH, SEE YA NEXT WEEK FOR THE BIG. 2. 0. 0. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The unique partnership demonstratedby these four agencies has created a new model forconservation and wildlife protection projects in Califomia. Why build an undercrossinginstead of an overcrossing! The stretch of highway at Laurel Curve isbuilt over a large natural drainage, creatingthe ideal place to install a large box culvertbeneath the highway. The roadway willbecome a bridge, with the area underneathbecoming the wildlife crossing. Theundercrossing is wider and therefore morewelcoming for wildlife than a tunnelWhat animals are wehoping will use thiscrossing?Deer bobcats. foxes and mountainlions have all been caught on cameratrying to cross Laurel Curve - ordying in the process. Research by theSanta Cruz Puma Project's biologist,Chris Wilmers, shows both extensiveuse of the area by mountain lions inrecent years. Wilmers called the LaurelCurve area "the best opportunity formaintaining puma connectivity acrossHighway 17 in Santa Cruz County"Who helped?Over ten years in the making - the Land Trust took the first BIG step toward building awildlife crossing under Highway 17 in 2014, with the protection of a 10-acre property atLaurel Curve. Seven years on, the LTSCC has now protected additional 700 acres aroundLaurel Curve, creating the wildlife pathway needed for the linkage's success.
Wilmer Arias was shot through the neck in a rural and impoverished area of northern Guatemala when he was 9 years old. He wandered away from his grandparents house, where he lived with his brother and sister, to chase after a deer. A hunter's bullet intended for the deer, struck Wilmer instead. He spent two and a half months in a coma in a hospital in Guatemala city, and woke up in a world unfamiliar to the one he had known; now paralyzed from the waist down. Abandoned by his mother and father at a young age, Wilmer had only the support of his grandparents, who were getting old themselves and quickly realized they did not have the ability to support Wilmers needs given his new physical condition. With no money to keep up with hospital bills, they found an orphanage called Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos; a catholic organization that had the ability to help. 10 hours away from their life in Peten, along with his brother and sister, this orphanage became Wilmer's new home. Confused, angry, and completely dependent on others, Wilmer struggled through his adolescent years. He became accustomed to a life of difficulty; constant health complications, trips to the hospital, and feeling alienated from his peers because of his condition. He saw no opportunity to improve his life, and Wilmer became ashamed of who he was. When he was 18 he began to realize the power of his own mind. He credits the book 'Think and Grow Rich,' which was given to him as a gift, for his initial breakthrough. He learned that accepting himself as he was, and giving up were two completely different things, and his life began to change. He became obsessed with books, and applied himself to learning, finding strength for his own life through the wisdom of others. Combining self discipline with an eagerness to learn, Wilmer set goals, developed principles, and began taking giant strides in his life. He stopped looking for external validation and acceptance from others and focused more on his internal environment. By 29, he was working in public relations and partnerships for the orphanage, studying business in University, and simultaneously earning a masters in digital marketing. All the while putting together a business plan for a wellness center that is his dream to eventually open up with his brother. He began speaking all over the world, inspiring people with his story everywhere he went. Wilmer's life had taken a complete 180, he had made peace with his own life, and actualized the power of his own mind. He had found an upward trajectory for his life that inspired everyone he came in contact with. During this time, a lingering complication from his childhood accident became a life threatening issue, and Wilmer was told by doctors he had less than 2 years to live. The operation Wilmer needed had never been attempted in medical history, and Wilmer was turned away by as many hospitals as they contacted. Refusing to give up the fight, Wilmer began to manifest a future for himself despite his most recent complication. He remained positive and focused on his attitude, thoughts, and the energy he was putting out into the world, as he searched for an answer to his life's most recent curveball. We hope this episode brings a new perspective or at least makes you think about the power of the mind.

Marcia and Grey speak with Chris Wilmers about his love for the large predators such as pumas, lions and wolves. We discuss his current projects with SC Puma Project and how people can get involved. Chris Wilmers is a professor of environmental studies at UC Santa Cruz and lead investigator for the Santa Cruz Puma Project. The Puma Project is a research effort to better understand the impacts of human development on the behavior, physiology, ecology, conservation and management of pumas (aka mountain lions). Dr. Wilmers' lab group at UCSC is generally focused on understanding how global change influences animal behavior, population dynamics and community organization. They emphasize combining quantitative field techniques to better understand the ecology of the wildlife so as to better inform their management and conservation. In addition to the Santa Cruz Puma Project, the Wilmers lab group is involved in research, management and conservation efforts of large predators and/or their prey in Northern California, Yellowstone, Kenya and South Africa.
