Charlotte Oxnam has a presence. She showcased that during Chicago StartUp Week when she wowed the judges all the way to taking home the top prize in a sea of some incredible competition. I was lucky enough to judge that group of competitors and I haven't let Oxnam get rid of me since. She's the founder of a platform that's equal parts community and commerce and meant to serve the needs of plus size women as they shop for apparel. Cue the Curves is the answer for the women’s plus-size apparel market, which is vastly underserved. It's valued at 9.8 billion U.S. dollars as of 2019, and the average woman lives in what's considered to be plus-size clothing - wearing a 14-16 on average. We've been talking about size inclusion all month on #WeGotGoals and we've spent a lot of time on apparel - it's not because clothes are the most important thing, but they are a thing that touches our lives every day. Today, women who wear sizes outside of what's considered a "straight size" face a dramatically different shopping experience that's equal parts rejection and trying not to get your hopes up. That's what Oxnam hopes to solve. In today's episode, she tells a beautiful story of her best friend - who wears straight sizes - creating an inclusive shopping experience for her at the mall. Oxnam tells us that her friend researched where she could shop and spent time in those stores, even when Oxnam protested, "but you can't shop there." "Yeah, but you can," Oxnam's friend said. And in a way, that's what Oxnam is hoping to build with Cue the Curves, a network of friends who watch out for each other in a way that is unique to best friends in a dressing room. And on this week's episode, you'll hear this 19-year-old talk about how she sees the problem and how she'd solve the problem. Oxnam is currently a sophomore at Northwestern University studying engineering and we can't wait to hear where she takes this thing. Rosie Card, Author, Blogger, Podcaster, Business owner, Dog lover, Started the company Q.NOOR in 2015, after sitting in the Temple and recognized that the women's temple dresses were uncomfortable to wear and looked very outdated. Research has proven that when women feel comfortable in what they are wearing, they actually learn more because their minds are able to focus and engage more efficiently. Feeling lead to take on the challenge to make women feel better in temple clothes, she approached a temple worker, Sister Samuelson, who empowered Rosie by listening to her and encouraging her to do it. Rosie mentions that the moment she shared with Sis Samuelson in the temple could have “squashed” her belief in taking on this project, but instead she encouraged, supported, and empowered Rosie to do it. Great lesson for us all when we think about our relationships with others. Are we lifting and inspiring people with our words or are we “squashing” belief. Rosie then talks about her journey creating her new clothing line Q.Noor and how it has not only grown in to a temple dress company but a women's clothing line. Because of Rosie's strong belief and faith in Jesus Christ she has determined in her life to recognize what Jesus Christ would do and who he would serve if He were here on the earth Himself. She has used her “platform” to speak up and stand up for women, marginalized groups and others who feel in a way cast out by society. I encourage you to follow Rosie on Instagram @rosiecard , the is full of light and her love for all of humanity is contagious. Rosie also shares her feelings about culture and how we can make sure to include all people, including single adults. No value is lost because a woman is not a mother, no value is lost if a man is the stay at home parent. Love, is willingness to learn, listen, and grow, and if we do that we recognize that all people are of infinite value and worth, and we can learn from them. Badges, titles, popularity, do not matter… hasn't history clearly proven that when someone puts all of their time and energy into reaching certain “statuses” in society, they sacrifice the most important things to get there i.e. family, marriage, service opportunities? I love the way Rosie talks about Heavenly Mother. We often talk about Heavenly Father but we cower to let the word Heavenly Mother out of our mouths and use ideas like “she is too sacred to talk about” to keep us from talking about her as a foundational truth. Jesus, was born to a mother, He spoke to His mother while on the cross and asked His disciples to “Behold thy Mother” telling them to see her, and then after His death and victory over the grave the first person He appears to is Mary, a woman. I really enjoyed our conversation about some of the traditions we hold onto for no reason other than that they keep us comfortable and they fit into mainstream society. So many of these things need to change so that more people feel seen and heard. LOVE! We men can do a better job following this council from Rosie, “Hype the women around you, make room for them, and listen to them.”, I couldn't agree more, and truly appreciated the opportunity to learn from Rosie and talk about so many important topics soul to soul. Rosie, you are an incredible woman, with so much love for Humanity. Thank you for sharing your story and so many important ideas with us, inviting us to love unconditionally, and to seek out those that feel like they belong on the outside and bring them in. Keep up the great work, you are making a huge impact! Q.NOOR website: www.https://qnoor.com Follow Rosie on Instagram @rosiecard, @q.noor

Podcast Introduction: Hello, thanks for listening to 1000 Red Gates Digital Marketing. I’m a Digital Marketing Manager with over 10 years of marketing experience who has worked for clients such as Nike, Air Jordan, and Adidas. I decided to start this channel after a childhood friend asked me for professional advice on what kind of marketing strategy he should implement for growing traffic to a website he purchased from a marketplace made for buying and selling online businesses. As a first time buyer of an online business, my friend had little to no experience when it comes to generating traffic to a website and so I helped him develop a marketing strategy that increased his website traffic and generated him $300,000 in online sales. After the experience I found that there were a lot of people buying websites from these online business marketplaces and the majority also needed help with developing digital marketing strategies. The sellers of these online businesses typically provide little to no information regarding on how they handle the digital marketing strategies for the website. In addition, when asked on how the new buyer could grow the business, the buyers simply say, “get more traffic.” I launched this channel with the mission of helping future buyers of online businesses learn general digital marketing strategies to grow their future online businesses. The way I do this is buy doing a deep dive into for sale online business, analyzing its digital marketing potential against its competitors and providing real strategies on how to grow its traffic. The different topics I will cover while doing my online business deep dives will be SEO(Search Engine Optimization), SEM(Search Engine Marketing), Content Marketing, ReMarketing, Responsive Web Design, Email Marketing, Social Media Marketing, Marketing Automation, eCommerce Marketing, and Video. I do not claim to be the foremost expert on Digital Marketing but I have gained a lot of success in my career using Digital Marketing skills and have made a lot of money for my clients using my Digital Marketing skills. Thank you for watching, I appreciate everyone who have subscribed and commented. Please feel free to message me with any questions or podcast suggestions you may have and I will do my best to follow up. If you would like to support my channel please sign up for any of the digital marketing tools below that I use in my deep dive videos. By signing up with my referral link and code you are helping my channel financially, which gives me more time to dedicate to my channel. Today's Website Worth It Episode: Hey everybody, thanks for checking out the first episode of Website Worth It Series where we will do a deep dive on a website for sale and see if its worth the sale price. We do this by looking at the website’s Domain health, traffic sources, keywords, backlink profile, and on-page search engine optimization. We will also take a look at the website’s sales page on the marketplace to see if we can verify the data and claims made by the seller. Let’s jump right in today by doing a deep dive on a website for sale on Flippa.com. Pros: Shopify website, Women's clothing category, 3 Year Old site age, established traffic Cons: Search Engine keyword brand name confusion, potentially high bounce rate, heavy reliance on organic search traffic focusing on one keyword, lack of social media presence, suspicious backlink profile, lack of basic e-commerce tracking that shows verified and real transaction/revenue data. Is the Website Worth It? Possibly, but only after the issues mentioned in the podcast are addressed. Balodana CEO Dana Todd joined Scott Kitun in the WGN Studio to discuss her entrepreneurial journey and how it led her to lead a fashion startup. Dismayed with the availability of fashionable options for women who don’t fall into the very young or very thin categories, Dana saw an opportunity to offer custom-made clothing for a variety of body types. That’s how Balodana, an online marketplace for women’s clothing, was born. It sells made-to-measure wares from designers around the world at prices comparable to traditional retail.

If you’ve been paying attention to the apparel industry in the last few years, you’ve likely see Faherty at every turn, and that’s no accident. Alex and Mike Faherty are twin brothers who have the incredible journey of taking a lifelong dream and turning it into reality in their namesake brand. Mike spent his career at Ralph Lauren while Alex went the business/finance route. 6 years ago, they came back together to launch Faherty to tap into their evolving perspective on casual surf lifestyle and the lack of brands catering to that customer. Today, they have four of their own stores, a strong online presence and are in 250 of the country’s top retail locations. There were some pretty incredible stories Alex shared, including launching their website while on a surf trip in Puerto Rico to being one of the first DTC brands to launch a catalogue several years ago and the risk/reward that involved. There’s a lot to unpack here but if I could call out one thing to pay attention to throughout this discussion, it’s the incredible sense of authenticity throughout every single part of Faherty’s story as a brand and what Mike, Alex, and Alex’s wife Kerry bring to the table every day. Why has Faherty become so popular in such a tough industry with so many competing brands? Their authenticity and extraordinary product.
