Lamone is a multi-talented vocalist, songwriter, and producer with an incredible vocal range. Always a leader, this “soulja” of music and art blazes his own trail. Lamone heard music all the time, influenced by his idols: Mom, Dad, Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Patti, Chaka, and Aretha. With his ability to evoke the artistry of such legends, Lamone has developed a soulful yet eclectic style of his own, mixing R&B, Jazz and Hip Hop Beautifully and Melodically.Born and raised in Waterbury, Connecticut, Lamone is no stranger to going against the grain, or straying from the norm. He is working with multi-talented producer/musician/songwriter Chris “Big Dog” Davis. “Big Dog” has worked with Brian McKnight, Vesta, Will Downing, Phil Perry, Najee and many more.He has toured worldwide with Smooth Jazz pioneer Najee. Lamone is the featured artist, singing the notable song, “Fallin' in Love” on Najee's 2005 release, “My Point Of View”. Recently, his single “High Off You” reached Number 1 at WYBC 94.3 in New Haven CT, which knocked JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE'S Suit & Tie from the top spot!Released Independently through his own imprint, Xclusive One Music, his latest CD, entitled, “Smooth” is creating a huge buzz and gaining momentum with the release of the first single,”Nightlife”. It is an infectious Dance song, mixing Classic with New R&B tearing up Radio and Dance floors across the Globe.Lamone has performed as an opening act for Jill Scott, Charlie Wilson, KEM, Chaka Khan, Anita Baker, and has been 20 Feet from Stardom from Me'lisa Morgan. His experience combined with his dynamic stage presence undoubtedly commands an audience's full attention. In this episode we converse about Lamone's love for music and the process behind such hits as "Rearview Mirror", "Smooth", "Born To Be Kings" and more. We also touch on his collaborations with Smooth Jazz Favorite, Najee and how this incredible partnership evolved. We talked and laughed for over 90 minutes. Time flies when you are having fun. Lamone is just as smooth and easy to talk to as his music is to listen to. It was a pleasure to sit down with him. I'm sure you will enjoy this episode. Originally broadcast on WYBC 94.3 FM on the campus of Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut on longtime DJ Juan Castillo's show - this is a round-table remembrance about the late great Steve 'Stezo' Williams. His sudden passing on April 29th hit the universal hip-hop community from out of nowhere, a truly sad lose. I felt particularly connected to his legacy as I worked on projects over many years between Chris Lowe and Dooley-O, some of his oldest friends. The audio here features Juan Castillo, Dooley-O, Chris Lowe, Superman J of Skinny Boys, Jim Slice, E and Lil E. They share stories and memories from a lifetime of experiences many of which start from childhood. It's a great look back on a kid growing up always thinking way ahead of the his time from fashion, style, to dancing, to music. This brings the casual listener who may only know Stezo's seminal debut to a personal account of much more than just that record. If you know a fan of Stezo's work please shoot them this convo. They will love it. Check out some cool obscure appearances on dooley-o.bandcamp.com - I urge you to check out not only his debut album but dig further to a lot of his songs and videos after that too. He dropped a lot of music over the years worth checking, loads of dope, fly shit. Enjoy and Rest Easy Stezo - Thank you for everything Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Cris Shirley's Sixth WYBC Yale Radio Show from the series titled Trash. This program traces the lines of influence and association that Yoko Ono has on music past pressent and future, focusing on her shrieking track "Why Not?" which opens the set. This is a fun exodus across the varied terrain of female experimental music.
Cris Shirley's forth WYBC Yale Radio Show from the series titled Trash. This program involved the slowing down of some that music that gets stuck in the back of your head, that you love, but never will play because it will keep ticking back there. Well, now you can let those wet sappy licks just bleed right in (I exaggerate on how poppy this is, its really a good set), as you kick yourself every time you mess up when the entry comes in because the song's timing is off. The playlist here is rich and diverse and yet every song takes on a completely new emotional quality. Also, you win a prize if you can tell me what song I didn't slow down during the set!
Cris Shirley's Third WYBC Yale Radio Show from the series titled Trash. This weeks show is everything ranted, everything that is spit out, pontificated, stuttered, and philosophized. Features some rants from Quinn and Terry at Surrealestate, from Allen Ginsberg, Bill Hicks, and others; along with music accompaniment and general mayhem.
Cris Shirley's second WYBC Yale Radio Show titled Trash. This week we traverse the sonic waves of psychedelic music, covering both contemporary and vintage performers. The psychedelic experience can be invoked by the music, but it is the listener that must receive and even cultivate that experience. I hope you enjoy this two hour trip into lands and realities never before explored.
This is volume 1 of Cris Shirley's WYBC Yale Radio Show titled Trash. A noise and associates show. Ze makes sound paintings with the shortwave radio, then plays music/noise they ze associates with those sounds. Some really interesting results along with some amazing tunes are played.

Cris Shirley's fifth WYBC Yale Radio Show from the series titled Trash. This is show is losely based on my interest in the band Hella, it starts with several tracks off there LP Homeboy, and then breaks into distance associative vistas, love her, love her!
