The Rickey Smiley Morning Show kicks off with a sharp look at global and political headlines, starting with President Trump’s announcement of a U.S.–brokered peace deal between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda—despite skepticism from experts who note that rebel groups weren’t included and conflict remains ongoing. The team also examines concerns over the U.S. benefiting from Congolese minerals while Congolese citizens remain on the American travel ban list. Meanwhile, in a story that stunned listeners, the crew discusses the tragic shooting death of Chicago mother Remika Meeks-Blackmon, with new details showing the alleged shooter was romantically tied to the same man—who shockingly fist-bumped her afterward. In entertainment, Tamar Braxton’s career is thriving as she signs on to star alongside Taye Diggs in the upcoming Tubi thriller Stepfather. The show also digs into resurfaced accusations against Brian McKnight after his son revealed emotional details about being denied an “I love you” during his battle with cancer. And in lighter but still jaw-dropping news, the crew reacts to NFL quarterback Jameis Winston revealing his family had been burning through $400,000 a month, prompting him to clamp down on spending. In this episode of The She Said It First Podcast, hosts Jerrilyn Lake aka Indeskribeabull and Lynee’ Monae discuss a variety of topics, but first Lynee’ and Jerrilyn tell the fans What Irritated Them This Week. Lynee’ went on a solo trip for her birthday, and while she had fun, she now needs a vacation for the vacation. She is feeling all of thirty-six. And Jerrilyn is irritated with people being passively aggressive with her. During Girl, What Happened, Jerrilyn and Lynee’ spoke about a story that has hit social media of a man who was upset for not being invited to his stepdaughter’s graduation. He raised his stepdaughter since she was two years old but among the eight tickets, he could not get one. Jerrilyn and Lynee also talked about Cardi B and Offset divorce playing out on social media. Offset wants spousal support and Cardi B wants him to die slow and is showing off her new relationship with Stefon Diggs. Jerrilyn and Lynee got into some Girl Talk and they spoke about having strained relationships in your family. They spoke about toxic family members that they no longer deal with the way they once did. This led to the host talking about Nikolas McKnight passing away from his battle with cancer. He is the son of Brian McKnight, but they also did not speak before he passed according to sources close to the family. Also, Jerrilyn and Lynee spoke about the first black mayor of Tulsa, OK setting up a $100 million private trust for the descendants of the Tulsa Race Massacre in 1921.
