Does Pinball really go back to the 1700s? Why the resurgence recently? And is it more about playing, collecting, or building? We've got special guest, Jessica, from the Pinball Podcast to help us out! ## Episode Outline ### Fandom Facts **History and Origins:** > Pinball is a type of arcade game, in which points are scored by a player manipulating one or more steel balls on a play field inside a glass-covered cabinet called a pinball table (or "pinball machine"). The primary objective of the game is to score as many points as possible. Many modern pinball machines include a story line where the player must complete certain objectives in a certain fashion to complete the story, usually earning high scores for different methods of completing the game. Points are earned when the ball strikes different targets on the play field. A drain is situated at the bottom of the play field, partially protected by player-controlled plastic bats called flippers. A game ends after all the balls fall into the drain a certain number of times. Secondary objectives are to maximize the time spent playing (by earning "extra balls" and keeping the ball in play as long as possible) and to earn bonus games (known as "replays"). > — [Wikipedia - Pinball](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinball) **Search Data:** Interest in Pinball has been [on the decline since 2004](https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?date=all&q=%2Fm%2F0gfk5), but has been stable since around 2015. Episode 52: ABC - How to Be a...Zillionaire! (1985) Part 2 It's been a couple of weeks since Brian and Sarah started their discussion of ABC's third album, "How to Be a...Zillionaire!" And unfortunately, they were only able to cover the first two tracks on side one before they had to cut the episode short. So, this week they have a lot of catching up to do! Part 3 - Track by Track, continued Our hosts jump right back into things and find themselves with two more singles and three videos to discuss on Side One.  One video completely delights both Brian and Sarah, and the other two are a little less interesting to them both. Side Two only contains one video, but according to Brian's research, it's a rather notable one in music video history. Speaking of notable, Brian makes a notable revelation while discussing a song on Side Two, which refutes some of the things he said in the Personal History section of the previous episode. In addition to music, of course, our hosts talk quite a bit about fashion-- in relation to song lyrics and in relation to a particular live performance by the band, where one band member is wearing an unusual fashion accessory. And while regular listeners may be used to this podcast sometimes morphing into a mini James Bond movie podcast, this time it almost gets turned into-- of all things-- a Kirk Douglas podcast! What?!   Side One: Vanity Kills Ocean Blue 15 Storey Halo Side Two: A to Z (How to Be a) Millionaire Tower of London So Hip It Hurts Between You and Me Part 4 - Final Review and Rating Sarah goes first with her review and rating. She owned this album before Brian did, so she has a longer history with it. So, does that result in her giving it a higher rating than Brian does? Brian himself seems a bit surprised with the rating he decides to give the album, but he gives a good explanation of why, and he compares this album to others he has rated. And after Brian's comparison, Sarah feels even more comfortable with her own rating. Green Connections Radio - Women Who Innovate With Purpose, & Career Issues, Including in Energy, Sustainability, Responsibil

“The (proposed Trump budget) cuts are a gut-punch to the community.” Beth Gibbons Every community has to cope with climate change as a reality regardless of politicians’ political ideologies. Federal funds support many of these efforts, directly or indirectly – such as through the data supplied by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for severe weather monitoring – yet the Trump administration has proposed draconian budget cuts expecting the states to pick up the slack. So, how will communities cope with not having this support and still protect their communities? Two of the organizations helping communities do this are the Institute for Sustainable Communities and the American Society of Adaptation Professionals (ASAP). Listen to Green Connections Radio host Joan Michelson’s enlightening conversation with one of the top leaders helping communities with this challenge: Beth Gibbons, Senior Officer at the ISC and Managing Director of the ASAP discuss the following: What NOAA does for us every day - A to Z How communities are coping with climate change today The potential impact of the proposed Trump budget cuts, job loss, economic hit The climate change realities facing communities, regardless of political ideology The role and options for insurance companies in climate change Top three things community leaders can do today Note: The audio quality on this one is not as good as GCR usually is.
