The Fall 2008 program takes as its theme “the Holocaust in Poland.” It launched on October 16, with Dean Peck interviewing Tovah Feldshuh, the Tony Award-winning actress who plays the lead in ""Irena's Vow"" - the Broadway-bound play about one woman's heroism in Nazi-held Poland. Two additional discussions followed on October 19 and 28. This vedio is the panel discussion held on October 28, at Engelman Recital Hall, Baruch Performing Arts Center. Titled the "Best of 2007" by Jazz Improv and "Best of 2006" by All About Jazz, New York based musician Rez Abbasi seamlessly combines jazz, soul-jazz, classical and world music. Hailing from the Indian sub-continent and trained at the University of California and the Manhattan School of Music, Abbasi is considered by many to be one of the leading jazz guitarists and composers of our day. He has five albums of original compositions, but it was his 2005 album "Snake Charmer" that has created a stir in the music world due to his blending of jazz and Indian music. Having performed and recorded with many of the greats (Ruth Brown, Peter Erskine, among others), Abbasi's new album "Bazaar" creates an even larger sphere of sound and is on the prestigious Zoho Music Label. Baruch Performing Arts Center presents the July 2010 Steel Drums Musical: The Pan Man. The cast is led by: David Duncan (Crossroads, Sons of A Preacher Man/Caribbean tour) playing Rufus. Karen Holder (one-woman shows) playing Josephine. Playing their son, the musically talented young teen whose ideas land him in trouble is Ryan Joseph, making his debut in The Pan Man. The Pan Man is directed by Michelle Mannette-Gomez, author of the book Memoir to Grandma. The performance takes place on July 9, 2010, at Nagelberg Theatre.

"Brown Rane performs at Engelman Recital Hall, Baruch Performing Arts Center, on April 11, 2008 as part of 55 Underground Concert Series. As a singer, songwriter, musician, and composer, Brown Rane draws inspiration from the likes of Nina Simone, Mary J Blige, Whitney Houston, Prince, and Jill Scott. Her sound is an amalgamation of R&B, soul, jazz, pop, funk, rock and hip-hop in one sandwich. She has toured with an energizing group called the Mary J’s, and a dynamic group of singers, MC’s, and poets called The Cataclysm. As a soloist, she has performed at several regional venues, including Gregory’s, 5 Spot Soul Food Restaurant, Remote Lounge, Cheetah Club, and Carmichaels’ Underground Jazz Club. Opening acts include the Castle Boyz, and Mother Metaphor."
