We unpack the incredible voice work of the legendary main cast, featuring Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump, Cast Away) bringing timeless charm to the cowboy Sheriff Woody, Tim Allen (The Santa Clause, Home Improvement) as the iconic space ranger Buzz Lightyear, and Joan Cusack (Working Girl, In & Out) delivering massive emotional depth as the cowgirl Jessie. We also highlight the stellar supporting performances from Kelsey Grammer (Frasier, Cheers) as Stinky Pete the Prospector, Wayne Knight (Seinfeld, Jurassic Park) as the obsessive Al McWhiggin of Al's Toy Barn, and Don Rickles (Casino) as Mr. Potato Head. Our hosts react to all the brilliant themes of replacement and obsolescence, noting how the threat of being replaced by a shiny new toy hits differently as adults in a world facing shifts like artificial intelligence. We break down the epic, Star Wars-inspired Buzz Lightyear video game opening, the immense tension of the yard sale rescue mission, and the incredibly satisfying artistry of the old toy restorer perfectly repairing Woody's arm. Paige opens up about deeply relating to Jessie's fear of the dark and abandonment after being left in a storage box, diving into the pure heartbreak of Sarah McLachlan's classic "When She Loved Me" montage. We also discuss the legendary production trivia of how a mistyped command almost completely deleted the movie's files from the Pixar server, only to be saved by supervising technical director Galen Susman on maternity leave before the team completely remade the entire plot from scratch in just nine months. Stick around until the end as we break down our personal favorite childhood toys—including Tech Deck trick boarders, 25-cent sticky hands, and anti-gravity boots—alongside a fun side tangent on Paige's legendary "spaghetti pie" recipe and Greg's current preparation for an upcoming Spartan race! Canada is preparing as more than 140 people ready to disembark a ship where a deadly hantavirus outbreak killed three people; history will be made tonight when the Toronto Tempo host the Washington Mystics in their first-ever regular-season game; and, Sarah McLachlan and the National Ballet ‘s Noah Parets are among the Canadian performers taking the stage at The Glenn Gould Prize Gala.
The Rizzuto Show proudly presents another episode that somehow starts with the Hindenburg disaster and ends with Bob Seger rankings, proving once again that this funny podcast is held together with duct tape, caffeine, and questionable decision-making.Rizz and the gang kick things off talking about local BMX hero and X Games champion Zack Warden ahead of the Show Me BMX Jam at Four Hands. What begins as a wholesome STL success story immediately spirals into everyone remembering how they once thought they could do BMX tricks before realizing gravity exists and hospital bills are expensive. Then things take a historical turn when the crew revisits the legendary Hindenburg disaster broadcast from 1937. The original radio coverage still hits like a truck, and the gang breaks down why hearing genuine emotion on-air was such a massive moment in broadcasting history. Somehow this turns into a discussion about how modern media has basically turned everybody into full-time catastrophe consumers. So… uplifting stuff.Elsewhere in this daily podcast, Lern's mom desperately searches New York City for Mick Jagger while accidentally missing him entirely, the crew debates whether concert ticket prices have officially become criminal activity, and everyone collectively roasts the Missouri State Fair lineup while Illinois quietly flexes on them with a way better roster. Sorry, Missouri. We still love you. Mostly. The gang also dives into misunderstood songs that people somehow turned into wedding classics despite the lyrics being deeply depressing. Turns out “Every Breath You Take” is not romantic, “Semi-Charmed Life” is very much about meth, and “Angel” by Sarah McLachlan absolutely ruined animal shelter commercials forever.Lern introduces the show to Castle Rat — a medieval fantasy doom metal band featuring chainmail, underboob armor, plague doctors, and enough theatrical nonsense to immediately earn the crew's respect. Honestly, if your band doesn't have a dedicated Rat Queen at this point, what are you even doing? Then it's time for a full-on Bob Seger birthday celebration as the crew debates his greatest songs, from “Night Moves” to “Against the Wind” to the inescapable wedding anthem “Old Time Rock and Roll.” Rafe practically turns into a Bob Seger historian while everyone else realizes they know way more Seger songs than they thought. You'll also get Seinfeld episode rankings, AMC's bizarre new live concert theater experiment, Anthony Bourdain movie talk, celebrity chaos, weird news, hilarious fails, and approximately 47 moments that would absolutely confuse anyone listening out of context. In other words: a completely normal episode of your favorite daily comedy show and your favorite comedy podcast from St. Louis.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Imagine getting a call from Bryan Adams asking if you can learn 26 songs in just three days; then fly to Puerto Rico and perform in front of 19,000 people with no rehearsal. That’s exactly what happened to Canadian musician Luke Doucet. He’s also played with Sarah McLachlan, Blue Rodeo, and now he’s getting ready to release a new album with Whitehorse and head to Montreal next month. He spoke to Andrew Carter. In the heat of the night, Canadian musician Luke Doucet got a heavenly call from legendary Bryan Adams to join his band – but he had to learn 26 songs in three days and meet them to play in Puerto Rico in 72 hours. Nestor saw three of those magical South American shows in Montevideo, Santiago and Bogota and tracked down Sarah McLachlan's regular guitar player in Toronto to have him tell one of the greatest rock and roll stories ever told. It was more than a one night love affair for the reckless kid who wanted to rock from Winnipeg… The post Canadian musician Luke Doucet tells Nestor how he magically wound up in Bryan Adams band in South America first appeared on Baltimore Positive WNST.

What do you get when you combine two Canadian music lifers into one guitar-heavy power-pop unit that still believes in volume, melody, and sweat? You get SLIP~ons. Fronted by Brock Pytel of Montreal pop-punk staples Doughboys and anchored by Brian Minato, longtime bassist for Sarah McLachlan, the Vancouver four-piece make rock music the honest way. Plug in. Turn it up. Let it rip. Their sophomore EP Overtime arrives February 20, 2026 via Scamindy. SLIP~ons aim straight for the sweet spot where 90s alternative heft meets power-pop immediacy. Think Sugar-era Bob Mould muscle, Hüsker Dü urgency, and the loose confidence of The Replacements, with flashes of Ash and Dinosaur Jr. in the guitar tones. Rounded out by Rob “Shockk” Matharu of The Spitfires on guitar and Shane Wilson on drums, the band plays with instinct and economy. Nothing is overthought. Everything hits when it's supposed to. Overtime takes its title from the sudden-death hockey period, used here as an extended metaphor for pressure, consequence, and the moment when everything sharpens. The EP leans heavier and more focused than the band's debut, pairing Pytel's gravel-edged vocals with punchy, direct arrangements that waste zero time. The lyrics widen their scope too. Politics surface naturally, filtered through experience rather than slogans. As Pytel puts it, “I made it all the way through side A without a single song about a breakup.” The shift is subtle but intentional, and it gives the record real weight. The EP was recorded by John Raham at Afterlife, formerly Mushroom Studios, a room steeped in Canadian music history. Raham's resume includes work with Frazey Ford, Dan Mangan, Tanya Tagaq, Destroyer, and Pharis, and his approach here keeps the performances immediate while giving the songs room to move. Mixing duties were handled by Dave Ogilvie of Skinny Puppy, whose touch adds grit and tension without sanding off the edges. Overtime was mastered by Ronan Chris Murphy, whose work spans artists such as King Crimson, Ulver, and Gwar, bringing clarity and punch while preserving the EP's raw, guitar-forward bite. We've all been in the right place at the right time. For me, one of those times was to be hosting and producing MuchWest in Vancouver when Sarah McLachlan moved from Halifax to Vancouver to begin what would become an amazing career. Sarah ended up on the West Coast because in Halifax, her home, she had opened for a band from Nettwerk Records in Kitsilano. They wanted to sign her immediately, but Sarah's parents insisted she finish her schooling. It felt like she came to Vancouver with songs already written and ready to go. It wasn't long before Sarah released her debut album Touch. That's when I first met and interviewed her. The gift she gave the world was songs cutting deep into memory and self-awareness. Since 1989, the gift she's given me was to tell part of the story through our interviews. That's one of the reasons why I asked Sarah to come to Thailand and Cambodia with me in 1991 to tell the story of World Vision's battle with the aids epidemic. Sarah is on record as saying the journey changed her life. It helped her understand the power of giving back. It also leads directly to her involvement with the Sarah McLachlan School of Music. Some of our interviews showed up in the Lilith Fair Documentary. It's been 11 years since Sarah recorded and released new music. Her new album is called Better Broken. We'll talk about a lot of things. Better Broken, Motherhood, today's music world and her place in it, the legacy of Lilith, the Fumbling Towards Ecstasy 30th anniversary Tour and Canada – O Canada.

Mark interviews Meaghan Smith about the new children's book IT SNOWED that she wrote and illustrated, which was inspired by her popular holiday song of the same name. This Juno-Award winning singer-songwriter shares her many creative passions for music, writing, and art. Prior to the interview, Mark shares a personal update and a word about this episode's sponsor. This episode is sponsored by an affiliate link to Manuscript Report. Use code MARK10 at checkout and save 10% off your own personalized report. In their interview, Mark and Meaghan talk about: The origin of Meaghan's song "It Snowed" and how quickly it came together once the inspiration struck her on wanting a seasonal holiday song for people who might not celebrate Christmas One of Meaghan's favorite things about the snow How this song has gone on to become one of her most popular songs and now it's a picture book Studying animation at Sheridan College and the ongoing art that Meaghan has been creating all of her life The voice recording for an animation project in a studio in college that led to others recognizing her singing voice and an eventual career as a musician Meghan's experience in "if you just show up" and try something, things can have a way of working out Painting in the hotel rooms and green rooms while traveling as a musician as a way to alleviate her anxiety The additional stationery line that Meghan has which includes greeting cards How the manager of Woozles bookstore in Halifax asked Meaghan if she ever considered writing a book Getting better at accepting things without needing them to be perfect The "grumpy little cat" who is present throughout Meaghan's IT SNOWED book How snow can be such an interesting substance and the way Meaghan wanted to capture all the magic of it in her book How the book follows the lyrics of Meaghan's song, but also goes through the entire day for the kids in the story The way snow can make us all feel like kids again Meghan's current bread-and-butter writing custom songs for people The Christmas concert Meaghan is doing Dec 19th and 20th in Halifax The second book Meaghan is working on for Nimbus based on a song she wrote for her baby when he was still inside her body How Meaghan divides up her work day and the various creative forms of expression that she exercises And more . . . After the interview Mark reflects on Meaghan's multiple creative outlets and the various ways that authors, artists, poets, musicians can give a gift to the world born from their inspiration and passion. Shitter Was Full!: A Trivia Guide to National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation I Think It's A Sign That The Pun Also Rises Meaghan Smith is a JUNO Award-winning musician, visual artist, and storyteller whose creative life bridges the worlds of music and fine art. Born in London, Ontario—known as The Forest City—Meaghan grew up drawing and exploring the woods and fields near her home. Her love of art led her to study classical animation at Sheridan College, later working as a storyboard artist before shifting her focus to music. That leap brought her to Halifax, Nova Scotia, where she now lives with her husBand, producer and songwriter Jason Mingo, and their two sons. Over the past 20 years, Meaghan has built a multifaceted creative career. As a musician signed to Warner Brothers Records, she toured internationally, sharing stages with artists such as Sarah McLachlan, Tracy Chapman, Ron Sexsmith, and k.d. lang. Her debut album The Cricket's Orchestra earned her the 2011 JUNO Award for Best New Artist, multiple East Coast Music Awards, and a Polaris Prize nomination. Her song Mirror, from her sophomore album Have a Heart, was a semifinalist in the International Songwriting Competition. Today, Meaghan continues to release collections of music characterized by her sweetly smoky vocals and vintage pop sensibility. Her songs have appeared widely across film and television—on platforms ranging from Netflix to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Through her company Our Song, she and Jason write and produce custom songs for individuals and special occasions, helping others tell their stories through music. While her music career flourished, Meaghan also found her way back to visual art. On tour, she began painting tiny oil portraits of the forest animals she missed from home—foxes in fedoras, bears in flower crowns, fish in monocles—each one nestled in a miniature vintage frame she found in antique shops along the way. What began as a creative escape in hotel rooms and green rooms evolved into her acclaimed Miniature Art Show, with over 500 original paintings sold worldwide and exhibits in galleries such as Galerie d'Art Charlevoix in Quebec. Using oils on heavyweight paper, Meaghan's paintings capture the personality and soul of her subjects with vivid detail and a playful sense of nostalgia. Her art celebrates the small wonders of the natural world and invites viewers to see beauty in the quiet, whimsical corners of life. In addition to her paintings, Meaghan owns and operates M. Kind Papersmith, a small stationery studio based out of her home in Halifax. The line focuses on locally printed, hand-folded greeting cards designed to help people stay in touch and spread a little kindness through the mail. Each card reflects her signature warmth and attention to detail, combining her love of illustration with her belief that connection matters. Meaghan recently signed a publishing deal with Nimbus Publishing, the renowned East Coast publisher, for her holiday hit It Snowed. Having created the illustrations herself in coloured pencil, she now proudly adds published author and illustrator to her creative credits. Though she has illustrated works for other authors, It Snowed marks the first book she has both written and illustrated from her own material. Alongside her art and music, Meaghan leads Creativity Through Songwriting Workshops, coaching others to unlock their creative potential through the songwriting process. Now based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Meaghan continues to paint, write, and make music—working to incorporate creativity, family, and an ever-evolving artistic life that celebrates imagination in all its forms. Upon its emergence in 1997, this revolutionary travelling music festival, helmed by superstar Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan and featuring exclusively women or women-led acts, exploded the notion that popular music could only support a token quota of women's voices. This galvanizing documentary from director Ally Pankiw (I Used To Be Funny) chronicles Lilith Fair's triumphant three-year run and features new interviews with key performers such as Jewel, Bonnie Raitt, Erykah Badu, and Emmylou HarrisFor ad-free and BONUS episodes, please support the show by signing up for Little Miss Recap PREMIUM:https://www.patreon.com/littlemissrecap or click subscribe on Apple Podcasts!Listen to my true crime podcast: Murder She Watched at www.murdershewatchedpod.comGet in touch with us:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/littlemissrecapFacebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/littlemissrecapInstagram: @littlemissrecap Voicemail: www.littlemissrecap.comEmail: amye@littlemissrecap.comGrab yourself some Little Miss Recap merch at: https://littlemissrecap.myshopify.com/ Hosted on Acast.
