Episode 78 - Acts 3 and @mauibrewingco NITRO coconut Porter - You Gotta EARN it! Recently I read the book The Seven Decisions by @andyandrewsauthor and there was one sentence that really stuck with me so much that I think about it multiple times a day. He said, “Yes God said that he would feed the birds, but he doesn’t put the food in their nests, they have to go out and get it!” This is powerful and so true! God is ready to bless us beyond measure, he’s already provided everything for us, it’s up to us to go out and get it. It’s up to us to earn it! You want a fit body? You gotta earn it with exercise. You want that promotion at work? You gotta earn it with experience and expertise. You want that dream vacation home in an island paradise? You gotta earn that too! Even the lame man at the temple gates that Peter healed had to earn it. He took Peter’s hand and stood up. He was only healed once he stood up. He had to EARN IT! And after my 3.5 mile run today, I EARNED this @mauibrewingco Nitro Coconut Porter. The nitro in this brew adds an incredible layer of depth to a fantastic beer. I think the subtle flavors are more pronounced due to the finer carbonation of the nitro brew. It’s definitely one I wish we had on the mainland! As we head into this next week, let’s remember that yes, God provides for the birds... he provides everything they need...but they gotta earn it. He’s ready to bless you beyond measure. You just gotta earn it! Cheers friends - BBB
Episode 77! Acts 2 & @imbibreno Playa Dust IPA - People Don’t Get Drunk By 9am! This week we chat Acts 2 when the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit & began speaking in multiple languages (languages they didn’t even know) & many in the crowd thought the disciples were just drunk. But leave it to Peter to call them out… V. 12-13: “They stood there amazed and perplexed, “What can this mean?” they asked each other. But others in the crowd were mocking them saying, “They’re just drunk that's all!” V 14: “Peter stepped forward and shouted to the crowd, “Some of you are saying these men are drunk! It isn't true! It's much too early for that! People don't get drunk by 9 AM!” Clearly Peter has never been to a 24 hour town like Reno or Vegas where people may indeed be drunk by 9 AM! But I digress… But the most beautiful verse is verse 21. It says, “But ANYONE who asks for mercy from the Lord shall have it and shall be saved.” Isn't that a beautiful word? Anyone. ANY one. Regardless of what language you speak, what country you're from, your religious belief, or even whether or not you're one of those few that is drunk at 9 AM… it says ANYONE who asks mercy shall have it and be saved! When I think about the religious celebrations that took place with people coming together from all different countries, speaking different languages, it reminds me that there's a similar event here in the Nevada desert and that’s Burning Man. Now If you've never been to the playa, you might not know about Playa dust so I will fill you in. Playa dust is microscopic and it clings to EVERYTHING and gets into EVERYTHING! The Playa Dust IPA from @imbibreno is a bright, “dusty” (not hazy) IPA, that is super smooth and refreshing! As we head into this next week, let’s remember that ANYONE who asks for mercy shall have it and be saved! Have a great week everyone! God bless! - BBB
This week we chat about Acts chapter 1 where Jesus PROVES he's alive to his disciples on "many occasions". John doesn't give us any specific examples here, so how do YOU think Jesus proved to them that he was alive and that it was really him they were talking to? We'd love to hear your thoughts so drop us a line at biblebourbonsbrews@gmail.com or leave us a comment on our instagram page: @bibleboubonsbrews We also chat briefly about the end of the chapter where they were selecting a new disciple to complete the 12, and in one verse, they're praying for God's guidance, and in the VERY NEXT verse, they just draw straws!! Like, they couldn't wait one more verse? Haha! I suppose there's no timeline between verses, but that just struck me as funny. This week we review a tasty, crisp West Coast IPA from Porchlight Brewing out of Sacramento CA. It's a refreshing IPA that comes in at 6.7% ABV and is incredibly easy drinking! **Special thanks to my friend Ciara who brought that over the hill just for me! I appreciate you! :) Have a great week everyone! - BBB
Episode 75 is up on your favorite podcast platform or click the link in our bio! This we we chatted with Ryan Eller of @mellowfellowpub and talked about the special events they host: Brunch Trivia, Taco Tuesday, or DONUTS AND BEER!! That’s right, every other Tuesday is Donuts and Beer pairings!! We also chatted about how business has changed due to COVID and the shut down, and we sampled a white nitro stout that was unbelievably smooth! We also chatted about John 19 and Jesus’ crucifixion and how sometimes people are so unwilling to accept another point of view because they’re so set in their ways. Give the show a listen and let me know what you think biblebourbonsbrews@gmail.com And the next time you’re in Reno, be sure to visit @mellowfellowpub across from @renoaces ballpark and maybe you should visit on a Tuesday for Donuts and Beer! Cheers friends! - BBB
*WARNING: CONTROVERSIAL TOPIC!!* Episode 74 John 18 - @biblebourbonsbrews holiday hard cider - Religion Killed Jesus. Read that again. Religion killed Jesus. Now I know this is going to be a hot topic, controversial even, but it’s the simple truth. As we’ve studied Jesus’s life through the first few Gospels and now into John chapter 18, it’s clear to see who was persecuting Jesus. It’s easy to see who is trying to trap Him with the law and the word at every turn. It’s easy to see who was jealous of his popularity. it’s easy to see who was plotting against him. They say if you read a book, it’s easy to tell who the good guys and bad guys are. The Bible is no different. If we take it on the surface and read the words on the pages, the answer is clear: Religion killed Jesus. John 18:3 “The chief priests and Pharisees had given Judas a squad of soldiers and police to accompany him.” Notice here that It wasn’t society, it wasn’t the people that he preached to, it wasn’t his family, it wasn’t the disciples, it wasn’t even the Roman government! V. 38-39: What is truth?” Pilate exclaimed. Then he went out again to the people and told them, “he is not guilty of any crime. But you have a custom of asking me to release someone from prison each year at Passover. So if you want me to, I will release the king of the Jews.“ (Pilot was the Roman governor of the area at the time and he found no fault in him and wanted to release him!) If you need more proof of who was trying to kill Jesus, here he says it in his own words: “I am not an earthly king. If I were, my followers would have thought when I was arrested by the Jewish leaders.” v. 36. There it is folks. Straight from his mouth, “I was arrested by the Jewish leaders.” Religion killed Jesus. I don’t know about you, but this passage was eye-opening for me. Let me know what you think: biblebourbonsbrews@gmail.com This week we’re going off the board with our review and I’ll be reviewing my own Holiday hard cider. It’s a sweet cider with cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of black pepper and with 10% ABV!! Tune in to the podcast for our big announcements! Cheers to a great week ahead everyone! - BBB
Episode 73 is up on your favorite podcasting platform or just click the link in our bio! Episode 73: John 17 and @freyranchdistillery Straight Rye - Jesus prayed for YOU! Yes! REALLY! Jesus prayed for me and prayed for YOU! “I’m not praying for these alone but also for all future believers who will come to me because of the testimony of these.” - v 20 That’s such a powerful thing to think about... creator of the universe prayed for YOU! Just incredible! And something else that’s incredible, is this amazingly SMOOTH straight rye from @freyranchdistillery This is bottle 244 of 3,000 and was signed by master distiller @whiskeyfarmer_ himself! So blessed to sample and review this today! Its hard to come by right now so don’t miss your chance to get your hands on it! As we head into this next week, remember Jesus prayed for YOU and God love you, just as much as he loves Jesus. And THATS something I’ll drink to! Cheers!! - BBB
#70: John 14 & @migrationbrewing straight out of Portland I PA - the REAL Jesus: God AND man. In John 14 we find Jesus trying to reassure his disciples and strengthen their faith and bond before his death that he knew was coming. “do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me. In my fathers house are many rooms, if it were not so, I would not have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me so that you may be where i am.” But even as Jesus was trying to comfort his disciples, they show how little they know him and Philip said “Just show us the father and that will be enough for us.” You can almost hear the pain in Jesus's response, “don't you know me Philip? Even after all this time I have been with you?!?” This brings up the question: if his closest disciples didn't even know him after spending so much time with him and seeing the miracles and seeing his love and compassion for his fellow humans, do WE really know him? Do we really truly know him? Or do we have a distorted religious view of him? A Christine baby born in a manger, or the lord crucified, or do we view him as some diety from another world? So far removed from us so far removed from humankind? This week we're sampling @migrationbrewing straight out of Portland IPA, it's a bright, punchy, tropical IPA with a juicy mouthfeel and comes in at 7.3% a BV, it's definitely not for the faint of heart! So as we head into this next week let’s try to get to know the true HUMAN Jesus, this week let’s try to get rid of the religious fog or the religious veil that separates us from the true God and HUMAN Jesus. Have a great week everyone. God Bless!!
Episode 69 is up on your favorite listening platform, or just click the link in our bio! This week we chat John 13 and sample and review @blackenedamericanwhiskey Batch 90. Blackened is part of the growing trend of blended, finished whiskeys, but what makes them so unique, is that once the whiskey blend is in the black brandy casks, they blast @metallica songs at the barrels to push the spirits further into the barrels and draw out even more flavor. The result? A fantastic new whiskey with a rich deep flavor that can only come from deep within the barrels. You can say this Blackened Whiskey is music to my ears! And just like @blackenedamericanwhiskey is making new waves in the whiskey world, Jesus made waves when he gave us a new commandment: “Love each other just as much as I loved you!” John 13:34 As we head into this next week, let’s remember His new commandment to us, to love each other just as he loves us. Have a great week everyone! Cheers! - BBB
Episode 68 is up on your favorite #podcast platform: @spotify @soundcloud @applepodcasts @googleplay Just search @biblebourbonsbrews This week we chat about Jesus being the light of the world and being spiritual, NOT religious. Jesus hung out with all kinds of people in all kinds of locations and shared God’s message of love and forgiveness. Jesus said “I have come to save the world and not to judge it.” John 12:47 We also review @dustbowlbrewingco Canal Surfer DIPA. This is a crisp DIPA coming in 8.7% ABV, that’s starts with poppy citrus notes and finishes with a sweet blood orange note. Delicious! And perfect for a hot summer day at the lake! As we head into this next week, let’s follow Jesus’ example and share his message of love, acceptance, and forgiveness with everyone. No matter where we are and no matter who we’re with. Have a great week everyone! God bless!
John 10 and The Senator 6 yr Rye - My sheep know my voice. Jesus calls himself the Good Shepherd and calls us his sheep. In John 10, he says that his sheep know his voice. Just like a farmer calls in cows from the field, the Good Shepherd calls us to him. He calls us to him and gives us protection and gives us eternal life. Have you heard him calling to you? I know I have and I’m thankful that the “phone works both ways”, so to speak, and it’s not just me calling out to him, praying to him, or asking him for help or guidance. He calls to us too and that is a powerful message!! I pray that as we head into this next week you’ll hear him calling to you, like a dad calling his kids on the phone... he’s calling to you and me. This weeks review was The Senator 6 Yr Barrel Proof Rye. It comes in with a punchy 56% ABV, but a very smooth finish that doesn’t heat you up too much. It’s definitely tasty!! Thank you @missvigil for getting it for me! Cheers to a great week everyone!
To say today’s show was secondly inspired would be an incredible understatement! In episode 65, I talk about how the occurrences of this morning were truly God speaking to me, how he doesn’t condemn us, but rather redeems us. Just like the adulterous woman. The Jewish leaders and Pharisees caught her LITERALLY in the act and brought her before Jesus where he was teaching in a crowded temple, trying to make a scene. Trying to trap him into saying something that they could use against him. He says “throw stones at her until she dies. BUT only he who never sinned can throw the first stone.” The religious leaders left one by one until Jesus stood alone with the woman in front of the crowd. “Where are your accusers? Don’t they condemn you?” “No sir” she said. “Neither do I. Go and sin no more”. Wow. So incredibly powerful! God doesn’t condemn us, but redeems us! And in honor of National Bourbon Day, I review a simply incredible bourbon, @wellerbourbon Antique 107!! It’s simply incredible!! So give the show a listen on your favorite podcast platform and please let me know how you felt after listening. Comment here or send me an email biblebourbonsbrews@gmail.com As we head into this next week, remember God doesn’t condemn us, but redeems us. And THAT is something I’ll raise a glass to! CHEERS!! #nationalbourbonday #wellerantique107 #wellerbourbon
#64 John 7 & @almanacbeer Waves West Coast IPA - Jesus calls a timeout. John 7 finds Jesus in Judea for the Tabernacle ceremony, one of the annual Jewish holidays. Midway through the festival he was in the temple and preaching and the Jewish leaders (in typical form) were trying to find a way to arrest him for causing an uprising and going against their teachings. V. 31 says many among the crowd at the temple believed in him for the miracles he’d done. What were some of the miracles that Jesus had done by this point? Let's see: Turning the water into wine, Jesus heals the government officials son, Jesus heals the man who was sick for 38 years, Jesus feeds the 5000, Jesus walks on water, just to name a few… So here, Jesus performs many miracles in front of thousands of people, he's teaching & his knowledge surpasses the religious leaders, and they were jealous of his popularity with the crowds & upset at him going against their teachings of law, so they set out to arrest him but Jesus just casually calls a timeout. He’s going to be arrested and just calmly says, “not yet.” I love how Jesus just calls a “timeout” right when he's about to be arrested! Let's take a page from his playbook: in all the hustle & bustle in our daily lives, no matter what were being faced with, we can call a timeout too. A time out to reflect, a timeout to reach out to God, a timeout to have a cold beer like this crisp IPA from @almanacbeer Cheers to a great week everyone!! God bless!
#63 John 6 and Angel’s Envy - Disciples Ditch Jesus In John 6, there are so many important things that if we were reviewing the entire chapter it could easily be broken up into five or six episodes. Feeding of the 5000, walking on water, teleportation (yes, really), Jesus being the living bread, Jesus announces that he's God's son/savior of the world, and also my favorite Bible verse… verse 47, "How earnestly I tell you this-anyone who believes in me ALREADY has eternal life!" While this could easily be multiple episodes, I want to focus on something that most of us would miss if we just read through the chapter: the disciples completely ditched Jesus and left him on a mountaintop and went across the lake.
Episode 62 is UP! Little bit later than usual, but it’s Memorial Day weekend so I’m relaxing and enjoying time with family and friends and hope you are too! It’s such a beautiful day today, that I decided to take my gear down to the Truckee River and record in nature. River flowing, birds chirping, tons of folks walking by made for a great recording. We even had a special guest towards the end of the show. This week we chat about Jesus’ sense of humor in John chapter 5, and review @newbelgium VooDoo Ranger Mango IPA! It’s a bright, crisp IPA that’s not too overpowered with mango... just enough to compliment the citrus pop of the hops. Give the show a listen and comment if you hear the special guest! Have a great week everyone and a huge thank you to all who served or are serving our country right now. Thanks to you, we enjoy the freedom to share things like the Bible and a brew. Cheers!
Ep. 61!! John 4 & @verdilocaldistillery Hoppymess whiskey - Does it matter where you worship? Where do you normally worship? At church? Think most of us would probably answer yes to that. I was raised going to private school, I went to church every week, all of my family and friends went to the same church & had the same beliefs. And even though I was there every week, was I truly “THERE”? Was I truly present & in the moment? Or was I thinking about my friends, or my crush, or was I distracted by that I thousand other things? John says, “For it's not where we worship that counts, but HOW we worship. Is our worship spiritual and real? Do we have the Holy Spirit's help?” John 4:22. With the Covid lockdown across our state, the country, & the Globe, you may be finding it difficult to worship, missing the fellowship of your friends, church family, or your actual family. But as John says, it doesn't matter where you worship, but how. Over the past few weeks I've gone to Lake Tahoe several times, or the Truckee river, and even some Hot Springs. Places of such incredible natural beauty that it reminds me of God's handiwork, & his abundant gifts to us. And sometimes when I'm at the lake or river, taking in all the beauty, I enjoy a craft beer or bourbon, and I worship there. This week I'm worshiping with @verdilocaldistillery Hoppymess. It’s a whiskey that's distilled from beer & is a collaborative effort with @brewers_cabinet from Reno. It's distilled from Brewers Cabinet’s #dirtywookie beer and then barrel aged for two years in American white oak casks. This is one of my favorite local collabs!! A fantastic blend with familiar oaky flavors with a bright, hoppy punch that combines two my favorite things: whiskey and beer. As you head into this next week, remember that it's not where you worship, but HOW you worship and that is something I will gladly drink too! Cheers!
We’re BACK on the AIR!!! After being off for the last 6 weeks, I felt now was the perfect time to get back on air and get some positivity out into the world! We talk COVID-19, quarantine, social distancing, and how God holds our hand and tells us to not be afraid. And we review the perfect beer for the topic: @leaddogbrewing 6 Ft Triple! This triple is tasty and with a high ABV of 10.5% and IBUs of 117, it’s incredibly light and crisp and I could easily drink a couple of these! (Swipe left to see the clever PSA on the side of the can!) As we head into this next week, just remember God says “Don’t be afraid.” - Isa 41:13 Have a great week everyone!
#59 - John 3 and Samuel Smith’s Organic Cider - For God So Loved The World On the podcast this week we talk John 3. This chapter probably has the most well-known Bible verse in the world, verse 16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only son that anyone who believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” A short verse but it's such a powerful promise. If we just read this and skimmed over it, we might miss the grandeur of this verse. God loves everyone so much he sent his son to die so that ANYONE who believes in him will have eternal life. He doesn’t discriminate. He doesn’t mince words here. God loves everyone so he saved everyone by offering his only son as a sacrifice, as a payment for our sins. Powerful, POWERFUL promises. And that’s something I’ll drink to! This week, we sample and review Samuel Smith’s Organic Cider. A bright, sweet cider from the UK that starts with a tart, citrus bite and finishes with a sweet apple flavor that leaves us eager for another sip! And a big CONGRATS to our winners of our custom bourbon-themed jewelry giveaway where we partnered with @jordangrigsby at Jordan Grigsby Designs for two one-of-a-kind pieces! Episode 57 John 1 and @russellsreservebourbon 10 year - You're Not Alone This week on the podcast we chat about feeling alone or unwanted and we talk about how Christ was unwanted in his own land and by his own people. I share an interesting personal story about feeling alone, and Christ knocking on the door of my heart and how he used random connections to let me know that he cares and is constantly thinking about me. I also had a unique thought this week: we often say that God is watching OVER us, but after learning more and more about his human side... he's not watching over us like some distant being far away, he's watching WITH us. Sitting right next us. We sample and review @russellsreservebourbon 10 year Bourbon. It’s a rich bourbon, full of spice and vanilla that you'd expect from a 10 year old like this! DON’T FORGET our exclusive GIVEAWAY! @biblebourbonsbrews jewelry pieces are handcrafted by @jordangrigsby of Jordan Grigsby Designs Just two more weeks to enter the drawing! He's not watching over you, he's watching WITH you. Have a great week everyone!
Episode 56 Luke 24 and @georgedickel @tabasco Barrel Finish Whiskey - Is He Living In You? This week on the podcast we chat about Luke 24: Jesus's resurrection, his appearance to the disciples, he snacks on some fish, and he opens their mind to the Scriptures. He gives them a command saying “don't begin to tell others yet but stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.” For us to live there are many things we need in us: air, water, food. We can be surrounded by those things but unless we actually take them IN to our bodies we will die. The same is true in our spiritual lives. We can be completely surrounded buy religion, the church, spiritual talk, but if the Holy Spirit doesn't live IN us, if Christ doesn't live IN us then we are spiritually dead. So, are our we surrounding ourselves with the religious, or are we actually asking Jesus to come live IN us? This week we review Dickel Tabasco Barrel Finished whiskey. It's Dickel’s signature smallbatch whiskey that's finished in a Tabasco Pepper sauce barrel. The bottle even looks like a Tabasco bottle! Great marketing touch here. I was surprised how sweet this was on the palette while finishing with the familiar @tabasco heat! Delicious! Don't forget to check out our @patreon page for behind the scenes photos and videos and our exclusive members only giveaway! Episode 55 Luke 23 and @twobitchbourbon - The Two Criminals On the podcast this week, Jesus has an interesting conversation with the two criminals on the crosses next to him in a powerful example of God's grace. The story of the two criminals is only a few verses long but it's one of the best examples of God's grace in the entire Bible in my opinion. We also sample and review @twobitchbourbon from Eureka, Nevada, “For the Love of Dogs, Bourbon and Good Times!” Earlier this week I mentioned we have an exciting announcement so here it is... #54 Luke 22 and Bone Snapper Rye - Jesus: The Most Human Example Of All Luke 22 is a huge chapter. So many good things in here it’s hard to pick just one! So this week we focus on Jesus and his struggle with what he has to do. Have there been times in your life where you had to do something you didn’t want to do or maybe you had trying times or difficulties. Have you ever just want to hide under a rock or pull the covers up over your head and disappear? That’s exactly how Jesus felt so when we are going through times of trials & struggles & we just want to pull the covers over our head or crawl under a rock and disappear somewhere, we can take comfort and we can find strength... knowing that our Savior not only knows what’s best for us but also experienced the same human feelings of just wanting it to stop. Wanting to run away to not have to deal with things. He has an intimate knowledge of us and everything that we’re going through in this life. The ups and the downs. He’s there for us to celebrate the triumphs and to comfort us in the trials. Jesus wanted to throw in the towel so badly that he sweat drops of blood and an angel had to come comfort him and renew his strength. Did that get your attention? The bone snapper Straight Rye we’re sampling this week definitely got our attention. Spicy notes of pepper and rye, with a deep smoky finish. Ryes are great in your favorite cocktail because they have a stronger flavor profile and play well with others. This would make a fantastic old fashioned! Thank you soo much we’re now over 500 followers on IG, we also launched our patreon page this week so be sure to check out our exclusive members-only BTS videos and photos and members only custom gear as well! Remember, no matter what you’re going through in life, Jesus understands your desire to just give up. Lean on him. Trust in him and he’ll carry you through. CHEERS!
This week we chat about Luke 21, a widow who gave all that she had, and we sample and review @suntorywhisky “Toki” Luke 21 opens with Jesus standing in the temple watching the rich toss their gifts into the collection box. Then a poor widow came by and dropped in two small copper coins. Jesus said, “This poor widow has given more than all the rest of them combined. For they have given a little of what they didn't need, but she, as poor as she is, has given everything she has.” These four short verses are such a powerful reminder for us to give of what we have. Whether we've been blessed financially, have various skills or talents, or even if we are down to our last two pennies like the widow… we all have something we can give to help others. Even if we don't have the financial means to be able to help someone, it only takes a moment to be kind. Take time to be kind. The word “Toki” means “time” in Japanese and the Suntory Toki is a clear gold whisky that blends the old with the new. Familiar flavors and age-old traditions, blended with new techniques that bring bright notes of green apple, and an extremely smooth finish of vanilla, oak, and ginger. It’s delicious neat, or over ice with a splash of sparkling water. Big announcement this week: we now have our Patreon page set up! Patreon is a way for people to support various artists, musicians, small business owners, and even podcasts like @biblebourbonsbrews Being a member will get you exclusive members only content, including behind-the-scenes pics & videos, additional interviews, & even some bloopers and uncut outtakes! Have a great week and remember, it only take a little time to be kind! CHEERS!
Luke 20 and @masonaleworks Naughty & Nice - Jesus Asks Some Questions He Doesn't Need The Answer To We have a great show this week that is perfect with Christmas only three days away! Do you have your shopping done? Yea... me either. In Luke chapter 20 Jesus asks some questions and it's interesting that when he asks questions he really doesn't need information. It's almost like he's asking the question just to prove how foolish the issues were that the Pharisees and Sadducees we're trying to corner him on. They're just so petty and his responses are just perfect “Jesus” responses. @masonaleworks ask us the question: Do you prefer Naughty or Nice? Naughty is a rich Porter with peppermint and lactose that obviously hits with notes of peppermint, vanilla & the creaminess you’d expect from a lactose brew. Nice is it crisp, clean IPA that’s mildly bitter with a bright citrus punch. Both of these come in at 7% ABV. I picked these up when I was in @inclinespirits_cigars grabbing a brew for a buddy. If you guys live in Lake Tahoe area definitely stop in and see the folks @inclinespirits_cigars they're incredibly knowledgeable/hospitable and always happy to chat about beers, bourbons or any other spirits! Some big announcements: @biblebourbonsbrews is now on @googleplaymusic we're also on @himalaya_app! We’re quickly nearing 500 followers so thank you to each and everyone of one of you! CHEERS and God Bless!

Luke 17 and 7 Troughs Distilling Cask Strength Bourbon - The Thankful Leper Episode 49 we discuss Jesus healing 10 lepers, but only one expressing thanks. Does that mean the other 9 weren’t thankful? Unexpressed gratitude is ingratitude. Think about that for a minute. Unexpressed gratitude is ingratitude. I went to the grocery store on Thanksgiving and I expressed my thanks to the cashier for working on Thanksgiving Day and taking time away from her family. She was blown away that someone thanked her just for doing her job. I explained that I’m sure all the shoppers buying last minute items were thankful as well, but I wanted to actually express my thanks. So when we give thanks, let’s really GIVE thanks. Give it try. GIVE thanks to someone, even if it’s just for doing their job. Now I’m going to give a HUGE THANKS to Tom and his team at @7troughsdistilling for this amazing Cask Strength Straight Bourbon!! Check out the podcast on the podcast app on @apple devices, or on @spotify or @soundcloud by searching @biblebourbonsbrews or clicking the link in our bio! Remember, feeling gratitude and not expressing it, is like wrapping a present and not giving it. So let’s shout out our thankfulness this week! CHEERS!!
Luke 16 and @newglorybrewery Mosaic - The Rich Man In Hell This week we chat Luke 16 and the illustration of the rich man in hell. While he was here on earth, he neglected those in need and when he died and is in hell, he asks the very person he neglected for some cool water to soothe him from the flames. The message I take away from this passage is to help others. To love others. To give to others what we can. Maybe it’s money, maybe it’s time... maybe it’s simply a listening ear that helps someone in a time of need. A HUGE thank you to our Veterans who protect our freedom and allow me to record a podcast freely and without fear of consequence. If you know a veteran, thank them for us! If you are a veteran, this ones for you! CHEERS!!

So check out our shots and be sure to follow @jenncairn @curi0usjenn and join the world-wide cheers with your own @jenncairn glass and share your photos of your hometown! (Love for God above all else, and love for your neighbor more than you love yourself.) Luke 11 & Two Stars Bourbon: Be Annoying! In Luke 11, Jesus shares with his disciples to “be annoying”. To keep praying and you’ll keep receiving. “I’ll tell you this... though he won’t do it as a friend, if you keep knocking long enough he will get up and give you everything you want... just because if your persistence.” - Luke 11:8. Jesus tells us to be persistent, to keep on praying and keep on receiving. Ask➡️Receive Seek➡️Find Knock➡️Doors opened In this field, I’m constantly seeking unique bourbons, craft beers, whiskeys or hard ciders, and this week I found Two Stars Bourbon from Clear Springs Distilling. Two Stars has a deep caramel color, that warms with smooth vanilla and caramel flavors that finishes with a dark cherry finish. This would make the perfect old fashioned!! We also had some big announcements on the podcast this week! Be sure to listen and subscribe on the #podcast app, on @soundcloud or just click the link in our bio! Remember, if you want something be annoying! Have a great week everyone!
Luke 10 and @imbibreno Playa Dust IPA - LOVE OTHERS This week on the podcast, we chat about Luke 10 when Jesus was confronted by an expert in Moses’ law trying to test Jesus’ knowledge. Jesus turned the tables and asked the expert how HE interpreted the law. The man replied, “The first part of the law is to love God above all else with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. The second part is to love your neighbor more than you love yourself.” “You have answered correctly” Jesus replied. Love others more than you love yourself. It’s a simple concept, but it’s not always easy. Just like we talked about a few weeks ago about loving your enemies, or eating less and exercising more... It’s simple, but it’s not easy. What IS easy, is sipping on this Playa Dust brew from @imbibreno It’s a crisp, refreshing IPA that lights up your tastebuds with bright citrus hop notes. They call it a “dusty” IPA in homage to the Black Rock Desert or “Playa” where Burning man takes place at this time every year. Thanks @imbibreno for an awesome brew that makes it a little easier to follow the Golden Rule. Cheers to a great week everyone!
Luke 9: Jesus feeds the 5000 and @verdilocaldistillery tour and tasting. We were on location at Verdi Local Distillery in beautiful Verdi Nevada and owner/master distiller Jeremy Baumann was our guest on the podcast this week. We sampled and reviewed their lemon whiskey, their award winning mahogany whiskey and their limited release Hoppy Mess whiskey which is a collaboration with @brewers_cabinet and uses their Dirty Wookie craft beer. We even got to sample a soon-to-be-released collaboration whiskey that you’ll DEFINITELY want to stay tuned for! We chatted about the miracle of Jesus feeding the 5000 and taking something small and turning it something amazing beyond anyone’s wildest dreams. That’s exactly what Jeremy and his team are doing with @verdilocaldistillery where they started small and now have grown to where they’re shipping their products across the country and even internationally! Thanks so much to Jeremy and crew for having us out to sample and review your awesome whiskeys and for being a guest on the podcast! On this weeks podcast, we chat about Luke 8 while reviewing @fourrosesbourbon Small Batch Select. Luke 8 is another chapter that’s packed with so many great things; incredible miracles (casting our demons, raising a dead girl to life, and calming a giant storm to name a few) and some thought-provoking illustrations and parables, that it was hard to just pick one topic. We chat about the illustration of the farmer sowing the seeds in his field. Some of the seeds land on the walk path and the birds quickly take them, some seeds fall on rocky soil where the seeds can’t take root, and some seeds fall into the thistles where they grow but are soon choked out by the weeds. Some seeds land in good soil and soon grow into a crop that produces a harvest 100-1000 times greater than the seeds that were spread. The seed is God’s word and we are the different types of soil. Some hear the message and their hearts are hardened to it. Some hear and enjoy the message, but as soon as trials come our way, we forget the message and wither away. Some hear the message but then set distracted by things of this world. Some of us our good soil, where the message is heard and takes hold in our hearts and we share God’s word with others, creating a crop of more who soon believe. What type of soil are you? Which type of soil do you want to be? @fourrosesbourbon definitely uses good soil for their crops and it’s reflected in their amazingly smooth Small Batch Select. It can be a tough one to get your hands on, but it’s definitely worth it! Thanks @fourrosesbourbon! Don’t forget next week we’re on location @verdilocaldistillery as we have master distiller/owner Jeremy Baumann as our podcast guest. Be sure to follow us on @instagram and @facebook, subscribe and review us on @itunes and @soundcloud just search @biblebourbonsbrews or click the link in our bio! Cheers to a great week everyone!!
Luke 7 & Seven Devils Bourbon from @koenigdistillery on the podcast this week! On the podcast this week, we chat about our amazing rafting trip with @salmonraft reconnecting with God’s creation and catching up with family and friends. We discuss the prostitute that washed Jesus’ feet with expensive perfume, being judged, and the incredible power of forgiveness. Have you ever been judged? I know I have! Remember there is only one judge that truly matters: God. We also sample @koenigdistillery Seven Devils Straight Bourbon Whiskey. It’s a tasty young whiskey that has a little more spice with flavors that will definitely hold up well in your favorite cocktail. HUGE thanks to Chris and Lauren @salmonraft for an amazing week on the river and thank you to @koenigdistillery for the tasty Seven Devils Bourbon. Please review us on the podcast app or @soundcloud by searching @biblebourbonsbrews Cheers to a great week everyone!!

Luke 5: The Tax Collector & @revisionbrewing Planetary Fog DIPA This week on the podcast, we chat about having a tough week or tough time, who Jesus hung out with, what he said and did. The example he gave us was one of love, acceptance, forgiveness and healing... he also took time to get away from everything and spend some time in prayer and we need to make sure that we spend some time in prayer as well. Jesus also didn’t get lost in the religious or political “fog”, but instead, spent time with tax collectors, prostitutes, the poor and sick, and loved, accepted, forgave and healed them. That’s an example I want to follow. The only “fog” I want to be in, is @revisionbrewing Planetary Fog DIPA. This DIPA is brewers with Amarillo, Mosaic, and Citra hops and gives a nice fruity punch, that’s very smooth and fresh. A perfect companion for a summer BBQ or a late night pizza. Thanks @revisionbrewing for the Fog! We’ll definitely be pouring another! Cheers to a great week everyone and don’t forget to subscribe and review on @itunes and @soundcloud
This week we take a break from our usual format to answer the question: “Can I be a Christian and still have a drink?” Well, can you?!?
This week on the podcast we have a special guest, Jake Holshue, head distiller of Old Trestle Distillery in Truckee, CA! We chatted about Luke 4 and Jesus’ 3 temptations on location at Old Trestle Distillery where Jake gave us a behind-the-scenes tour of their facility, and shared their future vision for the beautiful facility on the pristine Truckee River. We sampled some of their current and upcoming spirits, and let me say, they are fantastic!! Jake also shared a very moving personal spiritual story that you have to hear! I literally had goosebumps as he shared his experience! HUGE thanks to @jakeholshue from @oldtrestle In Truckee, CA for being our guest this week and sharing not only your distilled spirits with us, but YOUR spirit as well! Be sure to swipe right through all the photos, tune in to the podcast on @itunes and @soundcloud by searching @biblebourbonsbrews Don’t forget to review us so other listeners can find us as well! Cheers to a great week everyone!!
This week we chat Luke 3: John The Baptist & @moderntimesbeer Black House Nitro! Luke 3 finds John the baptist calling people out for their actions, including King Herod which ended up with John in jail. John’s primary message was that being baptized or your ancestry alone isn’t enough to save anyone. We must do good work and help others in need! John told everyone that he baptized with water but Jesus baptizes with the fire of the Holy Spirit and Jesus himself was baptized as an example for us to follow. @moderntimesbeer also gives us an example of a great Nitro beer! Rich with coffee, coconut, and cocoa flavors, it’s a smooth pour with a great carbonation. Our hearts go out to all those affected by the fire at @jimbeamdistillery this past week and we’re glad no one was injured. Be sure to tune in next week when our guest is @jakeholshue From @oldtrestle You won’t want to miss this one!! Cheers to another great week everyone!
Luke 2 & Kentucky Spirit Single Barrel signed by THE JIMMY RUSSELL! Luke 2 finds Jesus staying behind in Jerusalem and Mary and Joseph didn’t know He was missing for an entire DAY!! They had to go alllll the way back to Jerusalem and it took them another 3 DAYS! They’re literally raising the Messiah! Don’t you think you’d keep a better eye on him? They’re pretty much the opposite of helicopter parents. Speaking of parents, I was honored to meet Jimmy Russell, Wild Turkey’s Master Distiller, the Grandfather of Bourbon, and he signed the bottle of Kentucky Spirit Single Barrel! This is an amazingly smooth bourbon with a rich caramel color and mouth feel that finishes with sweet vanilla and caramel flavors. Thank you @wildturkey For the incredible Kentucky Spirit Single Barrel! Cheers to another great week everyone!
Luke 1 & @hereticbrewing Chocolate Hazelnut Porter “Dear friend that loves God.” “Dear friend that loves beer.” This week we go about things a little differently just as Luke starts his book a little differently by doing some fact-checking and summarizing all the accounts of Jesus and doing a thorough investigation to reassure us of the truth we’ve all been taught. We also review a @hereticbrewing Chocolate Hazelnut Porter. Dictionary.com defines heretic as “a person practicing religious heresy” or “a person holding an opinion at odds with what is generally accepted.” Using that last definition, one could say that Jesus himself was the ULTIMATE heretic... one at odds with what is generally accepted. The Chocolate Hazelnut Porter from Heretic Brewing Company is a rich, smooth ale with deep chocolate and toasty hazelnut flavors that starts sweet on the tongue and finishes very smoothly. But don’t just take my word for it, be like Luke. Get your hands on this brew from Heretic and do the research for yourself. You’ll be glad you did! Cheers to a great week everyone!
Mark 16 & Maker’s Mark Private Select Happy Father’s Day! Mark 16 is where Jesus comes back to life and appeared to Mary Magdalene, two others, and then the other disciples. At first they didn’t believe it was Him! He went about announcing his resurrection in a subtle way, telling one person, then 2, then the rest of the disciples. He could’ve just shown up and said “TA-DA!!! IM BAAA-AA-AACK!!” But He chose to almost test their faith one last time. Why do you think he did that? I can’t wait to ask Him one day! The Maker’s Mark Private Select is an incredibly smooth bourbon that finishes with notes of sweet caramel! (Even at 110.6 proof!)
