I think you'll enjoy this set, there is some fine jamming here.. the opening GSET, does have the first frew notes cut.. Ramble on Rose, follows and Beat It Down the Line.. including some chatter :) The heart of the set comes as the following He's Gone goes into Drums and then into a roaring 'Other One'.. this is a beautiful set culminating in a 'Black Peter' (the only time Black Peter appeared seg'd into an Other One). The 'Truckin' that follows is a highlight as well. Hope you enjoy! Here we are - Jerry's Birthday and the start of the Days Between - as well as the day of the first of the GD 60 concerts out in San Francisco! I do envy all those able to attend! In the meantime we have a fine show from August of 1972 to start the celebrations on this week's Deadpod. This comes from Sacramento California on August 12, 1972. We will listen to the long first set this week - then the second set when I return in two weeks. I have to be gone next week and due to the constraints of posting on my podcast host I will be unable to have another Deadpod ready for next Friday. You will find lots to enjoy here - Keith and Donna are still settling in as the band adjusts to no Pigpen, but there is plenty of great music here. I will simply call your attention to the fine jazzy 'Bird Song' and of course the 'Playin' In the Band'. There is a rare 1st set 'Stella Blue' and plenty of rocking here as well. The band is also quite chatty which is always fun to hear. I Was Man's Trash, Now I'm in the King's Treasury by Georgia SmithI Was Man's Trash, Now I'm in the King's Treasury, is about a woman writing to her daughter, Tee, who wanted to know about her mother's life, and to any other daughters and sons that have been hurt or devastated in life no matter how old or young they may be. All though this is a story about my life, and my choices, as you read this please remember that it is never too late to change your future. This is not meant to be a sad story, but one of victory. It is my hope that some would be healed while reading the pages of this book.Where men literally walked on me, stepped over me, and threw me aside as trash, The King, of kings saw me, picked me up, cleaned and polished me, and declared me to be a valuable jewel.I decided to go on an adventure to see if I could find some sort of connection from my past to the person that I am to day. So where should I start? ... at this house I found out that I was black. I never thought about being black or white. One Christmas mama bought me this little rubber doll that had molded black hair, black eyes, and brown skin. I told mama that I didn't want that burnt up doll. When she told me that it was the same color that I was, I was shocked. As a teen I needed to get away from all of the crazy things that were happening to me so I ran away. I had fallen into such a pit of low self-esteem that I had decided to use my own body to get me out of the mess that I was in.Believe, believe in yourself, believe that you are somebody, believe that you can rise above where you are now. My book ( I was man's trash, now I'm in the King's treasure can help you believe again. Because of life I had been spiritually destroyed, it seemed with no where to turn or no one to turn to for help life wasn't worth living. Being numerously raped and degraded I lost all self esteem. My life was turned around because of the love of God. Yours can be too. This is who I am today, Georgia Smith is a graduate of MTI Business School. She is a freelance writer, and painter. She has spoken to groups of women about the subject of this book, particularly in church groups. She has also spoken to men, and mixed genders in places of business on other subjects.Georgia was born in a small town in California, and moved to Sacramento California where she met and married her husband of thirty-six years. They have a blended family of four children and seven grandchildren of whom they enjoy as often as possible, especially on holidays, along with their two dogs and six koi and goldfish. Recover Your Soul: A Spiritual Path to a Happy and Healthy Life
Send one way text to Rev Rachel As we move through life, many of us unconsciously carry mental scorecards—marking every unmet expectation, every imbalance, every moment we don't feel seen or respected. In this episode, I share how that scorekeeping nearly unraveled my marriage and strained my connection with my children. What I discovered is that it was never really about who did the dishes or picked up the socks—it was about the deeper desire for respect, for energetic balance, for love. Soul Recovery teaches us to turn inward, to ask what our reactions reveal about our own beliefs, needs, and wounds, so we can begin healing at the root. This doesn't mean excusing harmful behavior or pretending everything is okay—it means reclaiming our power, seeing with spiritual eyes, and making choices aligned with our authentic selves. When I stopped keeping score and started focusing on energy exchange and honest connection, everything shifted. This practice extends beyond our closest relationships into how we interact with the world: with compassion, with clarity, and with courage. What scorecards are you holding? And what could change if you put them down and chose to see through the eyes of love?Join me IN PERSON on April 13th in Sacramento California for an all day retreat to deepen your Soul Recovery Process. Recover Your Soul: A Spiritual Path to a Happy and Healthy Life
Send one way text to Rev Rachel In this deeply personal and heartfelt episode of Recover Your Soul, I have the absolute joy of sitting down with my son, Bodhi, to talk about his journey of choosing sobriety and what that has meant for his life. Many of you know the challenges that come with loving someone who struggles with addiction—I've walked this path with both of my sons. Bodhi, now 26, has been navigating his own Soul Recovery, learning what it means to live a full and meaningful life without substances. I couldn't be prouder of how is is showing up for himself. In our conversation, Bodhi shares the pivotal moments that led him to this decision. He opens up about the tools that keep him grounded—his faith and the power of community. He talks about what it's like to stay social in a world where partying is the norm, how he still attends festivals, DJs, and embraces adventure—all while staying sober. @BodhiHarrison on all social media platforms or his Patreon Join me IN PERSON on April 13th in Sacramento California for an all day retreat to deepen your Soul Recovery Process. Recover Your Soul: A Spiritual Path to a Happy and Healthy Life
Send one way text to Rev Rachel What if true freedom wasn't about changing others, but about shifting how you see and engage with the world? In this episode, Rev. Rachel Harrison explores the transformative concept of owning your projections—the unconscious ways we attribute our unhealed wounds and limiting beliefs to others. Inspired by The Four Insights by Alberto Villoldo, she walks us through a powerful exercise to recognize and reframe these beliefs into empowering “journey statements.” Along the way, she guides us through the 9-Step Soul Recovery process, showing how taking responsibility for our inner world allows us to reclaim our power, break free from blame, and step into authentic peace—no longer needing others or the world to be different for us to be okay.Join me IN PERSON on April 13th in Sacramento California for an all day retreat to deepen your Soul Recovery Process.
