Tim Duggan is a new media entrepreneur who has co-founded several digital media ventures, most notably Junkee Media – Australia's leading millennials digital publisher. We’ve been working in parallel for years on our media brands but almost crazily had never really connected. Now, both in our next iterations, we finally have the time and space to connect and reimagine.Tim has recently launched his first book Cult Status, which I skim read and loved in a day. There are certainly many parallels in our thinking. Here he digs into:The seven steps to building a business with cult statusWhy every business of the future needs to balance profit and purposeHow to create an impact statement and how to make positive change in the worldThe traits every leader needsHow to create a passionate community around you and your work to evangelise your brandHow to get great outcomesAnd one of my faves – we touch on – as we have both experienced the notion of why bigger isn’t betterFollow TimFollow Lisa MessengerVisit Collective Hub
This week I’m doing something a little different. I’ve got two of the most fabulous Aussie larrikins I know on together. Why – well that’s how I met them many years ago and as long as I’ve known them they’ve been joined at the hip as a package deal.Welcome to two of the nicest most humble down to earth (but rather big time actors) going around – Tim Ross (otherwise known as T Ross) and Ben Mingay. Ben Mingay is an actor, musician and international musical theatre performer. He was in Hacksaw Ridge, played Alan Bond in House of Bond (and was bloody spectacular) has been in Wonderland and about every other popular TV shown known to mankind. He was most recently Shrek in Shrek the musical Aussie tour until Covid shut it down. Tim Ross is an Australian Actor best known for Wonderland where he and Ben met, Neighbours, Rush, Underbelly and most recently Romance is on the Menu. For anyone who is interested in an acting career or a career in the arts this is a must listen for you. They both have pretty remarkable journeys from starting out as down to earth tradies to becoming world class actors. They both have refreshing and inspiring stories. So here we go…Follow Ben and TimFollow Lisa MessengerVisit Collective Hub

In the next hour Michael will share his remarkably inspiring story of overcoming extreme adversity to achieve incredible outcomes in both his personal and professional life. Despite and because of spending nearly 1/4 of his life in hospital, Michael’s ability to help shift your mindset, instil perspective and have you determined to become the best version of yourself, will amaze and inspire.Michael’s story will undoubtedly bring a tear to your eye and a smile to your heart, but above all will teach you the keys to success, the importance of embracing change, and the mindset needed to achieve your goals. This week we’re breaking the mould and shaking it up. I hope by now you’ve listened to the episode I did with Bradley Trevor Greive titled Lessons of a semi indestructible literary action man. In true form, a couple of days after we’d recorded that, he penned an email saying lets do another one where I’ll roll through a bunch of sections and share specific tips, insights and stories of success and failure on becoming an international best seller and making it in Hollywood. And so, we did.In this second episode with the ex-paratrooper, New York Times Best Selling Author, Polynesian Rock Lifting Champion, voice of a seagull in finding Nemo and all round International Best Selling Author and Hollywood sensation, we talk in a fast and furious way through everything you need to know to hit the big time including:Bedrock PrinciplesThe Creative ProcessTime/Energy ManagementCredits Are Better Than ContactsCollaboration/Team BuildingGrowing Your BusinessRunning A BusinessFinding an Agent/PublisherWorld DominationLegal issuesShut Up & Do the WorkFollow Bradley Trevor GreiveFollow Lisa MessengerVisit Collective Hub
This weeks episode of Hear me RAW is with one of the people I respect most on the planet – Bradley Trevor Greive or as I fondly call him BTG. Ex-paratrooper, New York Times mega best selling author, stage and TV producer, qualified cosmonaut, Polynesian rock lifting champion, conservationist, renowned wildlife expert, the voice of the seagull on Finding Nemo, you name it, the guy has done it. He has endured 20 major surgeries, six treatments for rabies, and much of his body has been scarred by and disfigured during regrettable wildlife encounters (his left nipple was gored by a reindeer, then clawed by an arctic fox and then his right nipple was bitten by a Mexican jack fish…On a personal note before we jump in, I want to make mention of a few things. I first approached BTG in 2004 to write a testimonial for the front cover of my first book Happiness Is… We stayed firm friends from afar for the next ten years with him supporting me and offering wise words of wisdom at every important juncture of my life. I interviewed him for the very first issue of Collective Hub print mag, and again for our anniversary issue 50. We didn’t actually meet in person until 2014 – ten years after we had first made contact. There are few relationships and friendships built like this and ours is one that has and will endure the test of time despite the geographic distances. The last time we saw each other in person was the night my Dad had a heart attack and passed away. BTG was in Australia and as he so generously does, had offered to run a masterclass for my Collective Hub tribe. It was right in the midst of that evening that I received the devastating news about my Dad. I share this because, this is one person that has been a constant source of inspiration, strength and encouragement in my life. And so the universe in some kind of serendipitous way brought us together on that evening. I am grateful to have this man in my life and I am filled with joy that I get to share him with you. This episode is littered with life lessons galore – many of which are around resilience and perspective. Without further ado … BTG.Follow Bradley Trevor GreiveFollow Lisa MessengerVisit Collective Hub

Sarah Davidson (nee Holloway) is the good friend who finally not only convinced me to create my own podcast but also kindly offered to edit it for me if I took the suggested leap. So… she is largely why Hear me RAW exists. Thank you. In her own words she’s not the best candidate for a short bio (and knowing her as I do she is most deserved of a super long one). She is a serial rambler, over enthusiastic life lover with an abundance of interests, passions, career changes, lifestyle revelations, adventures, hopes and dreams. This was in fact the very first ever episode of Hear me RAW that we recorded together and it was such an immense joy to do so. I’ve left it until Episode seven to actually bring it to you to give a little breathing space between the intro (where she interviewed me…).In this ep, it's Sarah's turn to shine and it's my honour to discuss so candidly so much of her journey which includes the transition from being a high powered lawyer into a world of health, wellbeing and nutrition which ultimately led to Matcha Maiden, Matcha Mylkbar and all the incredible adventures in between. In this generous, open (at often times super funny … we laugh a LOT) conversation Sarah candidly shares so much about:-Being courageous enough to get off the corporate treadmillFinding your passion and how to start a (sometimes accidental) entrepreneurial endeavourThe supply chain (how do you ACTUALLY develop a low risk minimal viable product and just begin)How to overcome the struggle, obstacles and build resilienceBranding, revenue streams, distribution, e*commerce and how to build a solid social followingHow to keep the buzz and excitement alive when you scale and evolveHow to keep functioning through the day – rituals and routines and how to figure out what works for youBeing unafraid to seize your YAY (find ways to put play into your day!!)For anyone wanting to start and scale a business AND still live a life you love, this is an absolute DO NOT MISS episode. Cathie Reid is one of the most extraordinary and accomplished entrepreneurs I know and in a nod to the fact that she is also one of the most humble, when asked for a bio, she provided the shortest one I have ever received. She is the Co-Founder of Australia’s largest dedicated cancer care provider, the Icon Group, and serves as Digital Advisor to the board. Her achievements are as long as they get. But what is most notable is how she and her husband Stuart have grown a brand from virtually nothing to having a valuation of over one billion dollars. In this very down to earth episode of Hear me RAW, Cathie selflessly unpacks exactly how they have grown the business to where it is today. She is truly one of the most humble yet accomplished humans I know. And she has a dose of wit and fun that would give any of the greatest comedians a run for their money. In case you didn’t hear with our first guest, just a quick note - I mentioned the perfectly imperfect beginnings of this podcast (and all great projects), so please do bear with us through these first few episodes which were, thanks to COVID19, recorded on Zoom before I was able to go anywhere to buy a microphone! The audio is a little scratchy, but will get better and better – spoiler alert, I get a microphone in a few episodes’ time! Back to our guest, Turia Pitt... In 2011, at the age of 24, Turia’s life was turned upside down. While competing in a 100km ultra marathon in the Australian outback, she encountered an out of control grass fire. Trapped by the blaze, she suffered burns to 65% of her body. She was choppered out of the remote desert barely alive and wasn’t expected to survive. She lost seven of her fingers, spent over six months in hospital, underwent over 200 operations and spent two years in recovery. In 2016, she achieved a goal she’d been working towards since the early days of her recovery; competing in her first Ironman competition in May, followed by the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.Kona was a gruelling experience that taught her over and over again that when we get our mindset right, we truly can achieve anything. That’s not the only goal she’s smashed since being told she’d never walk, run or be independent again. Over the years, she’s written multiple books, been honoured with multiple awards, mentored thousands of people to achieve their greatest goals and in general is just smashing life out of the park.I’ve been fortunate enough to know Turia for many years and in 2016 we were together along with Miranda Tapsell part of an iconic Disney Princess Campaign. We’ve spoken on stage together many times and every day she continues to inspire me. Quick preliminary note - I mentioned the perfectly imperfect beginnings of this podcast (and all great projects), so please do bear with us through these first few episodes which were, thanks to COVID19, recorded on Zoom before I was able to go anywhere to buy a microphone! So, the audio is a little scratchy, but the content is still banging! Lewis was recognised by The White House and President Obama as one of the top 100 entrepreneurs in the US under 30.But before Lewis became a media sensation for empowering people and sharing 'Greatness' across the globe, he had his share of obstacles to overcome. From having a learning disability, which led to being alone and bullied in school, to being sexually abused as a child, to being injured and broke on his sister’s couch, Lewis’s story is the perfect example of how anybody can overcome the obstacles in their life and achieve greatness. And we did deep into where he was and where he is now and how he bridged the gap in between. Recorded partly in late 2019 and partly in preparation for launch mid 2020, tune in to hear how Lisa Messenger came up with this next iteration of Collective Hub to ignite human potential and the rollercoaster it involved to start, just like the best beginnings do.As you'll hear, due to COVID19, most of the first 30 episodes have been recorded via Zoom and without the equipment we would otherwise have - but as Lisa always says, a perfectly imperfect beginning is better than no beginning at all.... Enjoy!
