Billy's early life was anything but comfortable — growing up in El Salvador, he was used to no running water and no electricity. He likes to say that he didn't start at zero but started at negative one-hundred. Billy's family immigrated to the United States when he was 10 years old, moving first to California and then later to Nebraska. As a teenager, Billy began rapping as a way for him to express himself but found he loved the craft. Rapping allowed Billy to fill his time with something positive, instead of taking the wrong path many of his friends were on. His rap taught him sales skills, business skills, how taxes work, and most importantly, how to make money. Reading stories of generational wealth, Billy was compelled to start investing in real estate. He got his first deal, learned a lot about the BRRRR strategy, and continued to put his knowledge to work. Now, he's sitting on twenty-two doors between eighteen different properties. He gives credit to simply taking responsibility for his outcomes, instead of blaming others or the system around him. CONNECT WITH BILLYWebsite: Billy Dha KiddInstagram: @billydhakiddFacebook: Billy Dha KiddYouTube: Billy Dha KiddPodcast: The Minority Report CONNECT WITH USTo connect with Annie and Julie, as well as with other Investing For Good listeners, and to get the latest scoop on new and upcoming episodes, join Life and Money Show Podcast Community on Facebook. To learn more about real estate syndication investment opportunities, join the Goodegg Investor Club.Be sure to also grab your free copy of the Investing For Good book (just pay S&H)--Thanks for listening, and until next time, keep investing for good!

This conversation is about recognising that the stories and narratives we tell ourselves about what should make us happy – high status, millions of social media followers, billions in the bank – are often inaccurate. Maggy Krell is a legal trailblazer who has taken on impactful cases as a criminal prosecutor and human rights lawyer. She was a prosecutor for 15 years, serving as Supervising Deputy Attorney General in California and cross-designated as a Special Assistant United States Attorney. Her most notable accomplishments stem from her tireless efforts to combat human trafficking and protect and empower survivors, including her ground-breaking prosecution of the sex-trafficking website, Backpage.com. Krell also served as Chief Legal Counsel for Planned Parenthood Affiliates of California where she fought to protect and expand reproductive rights and access to healthcare. Krell currently runs her own practice providing legal support and impact strategy for survivors and non-profit organizations. In TAKING DOWN BACKPAGE, veteran prosecutor Maggy Krell tells the gripping behind-the-scenes story of leading the legal charge against Backpage.com, a website that claimed to be a marketplace for all manner of sales and connections, but truly had one money-making function: to accept advertisements for commercial sex, many of which featured sex trafficking victims who were forced or coerced into being on the site, including children. In doing so she describes a new and more just way of prosecuting human trafficking in the U.S. In the book Krell does a masterful job of explaining sex trafficking in the United States and how the legal framework around it has evolved over the last 20 years. Dispelling popular myths about who human trafficking impacts and how it occurs, Krell zeroes in on the most vulnerable targets: children from poor neighborhoods who have suffered abuse in their own homes and then been failed by the child welfare system. Too often treated as criminals instead of victims, sexually exploited teenagers would formerly languish in the criminal justice system while their traffickers flew under the radar. And many in law enforcement struggled to recognize this larger pattern and the ways in which vulnerable teenagers—who were disproportionately girls and women of color—were being exploited and then punished. I am delighted to know that I have fans in your neck of the woods, and I would like to have more fans in your neck of the woods, so let's hope this little chat helps that happen. Jenny Wheeler: Surely. You have got an amazing back list. You have 60 books or more published in three series, all in crime fiction, two focused on officers of the law and one a news anchor turned mystery solver. The officers of the law are Detective JP Beaumont, and there was a huge Beaumont series. Then we've got Arizona County Sheriff Joanna Brady and a big series involving her, and now Ali Reynolds, the news anchor. Tell me what keeps your creative fires burning, because obviously this has been a life's work and you're still fully engaged in it. JA Jance: What keeps me fresh is the fact that I don't just have one character. I wrote nine Beaumont books in a row, and I was tired of him and threatened to knock him off. My editor said, write something else, so I wrote the first Walker family book Hour of the Hunter. When I went back to Beaumont, it was fun again. At that point, my editor said, come up with another series. The Beaumont books are written in the first person, through JP Beaumont's point of view. I know this sounds like Agatha Christie, but I met him on a train. I had written a first novel that never sold to anybody primarily because it was 1400 pages long. 'Write something in Seattle, JA was told by her agent When my agent suggested I write something set in Seattle, I tried, and I couldn't get that story to move. It just wouldn't go forward.   Podcast #458 Better Sleep, More Confidence     A better rested you is a better you. We all love sleep, but what if sleep is hard for you, or life circumstances are keeping you up at night, tossing and turning with anxiety and overthinking?  Your relationship with your thoughts at night is within your control, and this is good news for anyone who wants more hours or more restful sleep. A well slept you is more emotionally and mentally sharp, and will show up in your life with more confidence and courage.   In this episode of The Confidence Podcast, we're talking about:   The relationship between sleep and confidence, and how to scale up both in your lifeWhy putting pressure on yourself to sleep better doesn't workHow to stop tossing and turning at night - 5 practical habits everyone should be doingWhat to say to yourself at night when you can't sleep and you're stressed about it   REMINDERS:   Ever just wish you could buy me a cup of coffee? PowerBar08 I've been listening to this podcast for a few months now and it's made such an impact on my thought life and the way that I approach each day! I'm really working on my confidence and Trish is such a gifted communicator and incorporates God and her faith so well in each episode! I'm a young 22  year old and I'm growing so much by listening to your podcast every morning! Thank you for all you do!   THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN SLEEP AND CONFIDENCE   A well rested you is a fully alive you. Starting the day on empty gives you a mental handicap. The better you feel, the more courageous you will be. Sleep helps us recover from mental and physical exertion. Sleep helps our emotional load stay at more even keel. Fatigue exaggerates emotional load.   WHY PUTTING PRESSURE ON YOURSELF TO SLEEP BETTER DOESN'T WORK   There are three things that can happen at night. SleepRestRestlessness Ideally, we would all want to always choose "sleep," but realistically, you sometimes can only choose your back up option. You get to pick two, and by picking two, you're eliminating one. You get more of what you focus on. If you are tossing and turning, and afraid of not getting a good nights sleep, you're focused on restlessness, and therefore you create a night of restlessness as a result.   5 HABITS TO PREVENT TOSSING & TURNING   Optimize your sleep hygiene (WLWB list for night?)Have a simple and specific nighttime routineTrigger your nighttime routine to startMake your bedroom inviting and screen freeEmpty your mind (journaling, prayer) My WLWB for nighttime rest: Small and extremely moderate alcohol intake, stop social media scrolling at 9PM, ice cold water before bed, kitchen clean, drinks ready for next day, schedule reviewed for next day, nighttime skin care routine, beautiful pajamas, clothes laid out for next day, 1 minute of stretching, linen spray, iPad reading.   WHAT TO SAY TO YOURSELF AT NIGHT WHEN YOU CAN'T SLEEP   Yay! This is an opportunity I didn't expect to get to manage my thoughts.I don't have to sleep to be rested.I choose sleep and rest, and I release restlessness.I'm alive, I'm grateful and I was awakened to pray for someone. Those thoughts that are racing in my mind? I give them permission to pause - they'll be taken care of in full tomorrow and it will all be okay.   ARE YOU COMING TO THE WALK IN WORTHINESS?   It's an entire workshop on self-worth, and you can get an invite by just purchasing 3+ copies of St...
