Mason welcomes nutritionist, author, actor, podcaster, yoga teacher and public figure, Lola Berry, on to the show today, for a grounded and insightful chat on the art of failure, and how to repurpose the energy behind adversity and loss into the creation of something beautiful, purposeful, and close to your heart. Having ventured into the world of acting from the tender age of 18, Lola is no stranger to rejection. Anyone who operates within an industry where the stakes are high and the failure rate is about 99%, has to have thick skin. Lola has just that. As a hard working triple Virgo, and self proclaimed A type personality, Lola always digs deep, choosing to fuel her pursuits through embodied optimism, a stance that allows her to embrace personal setbacks with the gumption of the phoenix rising; the one who recognises that renewal and rejuvenation can be found in the fiery ashes of the alchemical process. It's refreshing to hear Lola speak to failure as something that is workable, a medium that is malleable and open to interpretation, especially as the fear of failure is so often associated with people not taking action on the dreams and visions that lay dormant inside them, waiting to be birthed and appreciated by the world at large. Lola teaches us that with an open and hopeful heart, diligent gestures of effort, and an unwavering belief in the infinite possibilities available to those who try, success is always an option, no matter what that may mean to each individual. Mason and Lola speak to the value in consistently seeking support, celebrating therapy as an integral component to self evolution, grace and forward momentum. Lola's enthusiasm, unapologetic passion and grounded authentic nature are such a balm, her welcoming, encouraging and inspiring presence reminding us that failure need not be an obstacle in the pursuit of our passions, more so a stepping stone that enables us to reimagine our trajectory with humility, patience and a willingness to prevail. Lola & Mason discuss: - Embracing failure as a tool for self evolution. - The brutal nature of the acting industry. - Trusting the unknown & feeding your soul fire. - The power of living in alignment with your personal truth. - Mental health and the value in seeking the support of a therapist. - Being an open vessel for spirit to work through. If there was one thing you think society should talk more about, what would it be?“Failure. I believe it's something to be celebrated. We get to learn, grow, skill up and better understand ourselves as a result of failure.” _____I met today's guest many years ago in Uluru when she came and ran yoga sessions for all the participants at a corporate conference I was attending. Lola Berry went on to do so many things since then - today she's an actor, TV host, podcaster, nutritionist and writer. Lola is a best selling author of 11 books and has worked in the media industry for over a decade. Lola is also the co-creator of medicinal brain tonic coffee Lola Coffee. Lola has a podcast called “Fearlessly Failing with Lola Berry” where she interviews notable profiles about their failures and how it's the tough times that actually shape and help us to grow. Lola is passionate about inspiring and empowering others to look after themselves mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. The podcast led to the release of her 11th book (!!) with the same title - Fearlessly Failing and is all about how to grow through challenges and embrace the lessons so-called failure can teach us. Lola's a “what you see is what you get” kind of girl. No bells and whistles, just the real deal and as you're about to hear…so bloody refreshing! “I love failing and I don't think it should be a dirty word.” —Lola Berry Lola Berry is one of those rare birds who runs towards what scares her and embraces failure, believing there is always something to learn. With every fail, fall, and drop, she builds her resilience and stands a little bit taller. As a kid, she wanted to be an actress, and today she is chasing that dream in Los Angeles. Born in Melbourne, Lola finally won her US green card… right after she met her boyfriend. Join me for a fun and connected conversation with Lola as she talks about her literal and figurative journey to where she is today—splitting her time between Los Angeles and Byron Bay, Australia (and how she makes her relationship work). In addition to being an actor, she is also a nutritionist, yoga instructor, podcaster, Instagram influencer, best-selling author and co-creator of a medicinal brain tonic called Lola Coffee. Did you see the series 'The Newsreader' on the ABC? She also has a podcast out called the TRAP, Jess tells us what she has learned and what we all need to know about busting the myths of DV and what it's really like for sufferers. Then, how do you fail fearlessly? Welcome to season two of Falling For You with Dani Venn! This podcast is all about becoming more comfortable in your own skin, living life on your own terms and becoming a better version of yourself. These are real conversations with people that have changed their life - and they might inspire you too! I couldn't think of a better way to kick off season two than with Lola Berry, someone that has truly had a crack at life and dared to do what most wouldn't even dream. Lola is someone that has led a pretty public life as Lola Berry, one of Australia's most recognisable nutritionists and most successful authors having published 11 books this November with her new book "Fearlessly Failing". But if you scratch under the surface of success, you will learn that Lola has experienced her fair share of pain, failure and heart break that even resulted in anorexia for some of her adult life. So yes trigger warning, we do discuss eating disordered behaviour in this episode so you might need to turn it down in parts. I love this chat so much because it is candid, raw, honest and in it you will learn that Lola Berry wasn't always Lola Berry, she was born Lauren Smith, was even once a cool DJ called Lauren Heaven (and yes I even attended one of her gigs!) and then changed her life to become the "Steve Irwin of Nutrition" and pushed herself into the limelight by creating her own YouTube channel and knocking on the doors of Channel 10 to get her first gig. Lola "hustled" before it was a popular term, worked hard, copped failure on the chin and kept going. It was hard for me to hear her speak about how she suffered for so long with an eating disorder and putting her sense of value and self-worth in the hands and eyes of others, which materialised in self-sabotage and emotionally damaging relationships. But I am so happy to learn that Lola is now in such a good place in her life currently with her new partner "Bosso", living between LA and Byron (dreamy!) and pursuing her dreams of acting in the USA. Lola is a legend, she is an inspiration, but she also one of us, someone that has gone through lots of shitty times but it doesn't mean that it has kept her down. In fact, it's done the opposite and through this chat you will learn just that. I really hope that you enjoy this chat as much as I did! Thanks so much for tuning into season two of Falling For You, I look forward to taking you on the journey of many amazing life stories with me. Lola Berry is one of the OGs of the Australian wellness scene, she's a nutritionist, author and podcaster who as you'll hear shortly, takes a more lenient approach to clean living than most. In her new book - her 11th! - Fearlessly Failing (Affirm Press, $29.99) - she explores why failure is the best thing that can ever happen to you, seriously. Stuff ups may cause major cringe, but according to Lola, failure is something we should not only run towards but also embrace. Like big, warm hug vibes. In this chat, Lola not only talks about her own failures - from career mistakes to heartbreaks - she also opens up about her mental health journey and her new life in LA. She earns herself the moniker ‘the naughty nutritionist' too. Lola is a big advocate for the power of therapy. It has supported her through many challenges, but has also supported and triumphed her through the good times. We need to rewire our thoughts to speak positively to ourselves and move forward. I'm so excited to say that Lola has shared all of her expert knowledge in her newest book, “Fearlessly Failing”, that's due to hit the bookstores on the 1st of November. Today I'm talking to Australia's favourite nutritionist, yoga & crystal loving hippie. Oh… is this a podcast, sorry guys I thought I was just having a coffee with an awesome new friend of mine. Anyway we got stuck into talking about some epic topics. Lola after years of doing what she does impeccably around all things health & wellness, writing a stack of books and stamping her name on the industry has somewhat packed up her bat and ball and is chasing her new love… as hitting the scene in USA to become an Actor and TV presenter first and foremost. We talk about Lola B's process for success, about chasing big dreams, about creativity and vision and about how life, humans and communication differs from one corner of the world to another. Don't worry, Melbourne still holds the trophy for the best coffee. Imagine being a highly successful Yoga Teacher, Nutritionist, TV Presenter and Author of ten books and then making a choice to walk away from the comfort and security of it all to pursue an entirely different career with zero security or certainty. Well, four years ago Lola Berry began acting classes and she is currently pursuing her dream to become a successful actor, splitting her time between Australia and the U.S. This was a real, raw and ‘self-aware' conversation with a self-declared bogan, who has weekly therapy, has dated her fair share of narcissists, keeps an ‘ideas diary' with her always, has trained herself to have hard conversations, has dealt with way too many online haters and like me (and you?), is a work in progress. Enjoy.

Today I chat with the wonderful Lola Berry, who is a TV presenter, best selling author, nutritionist, yoga teacher and podcast host of “Fearlessly Failing with Lola Berry”. Lola's work in redefining failure and being humble all the way through shapes today's conversation. She shares a public failure she had, the lessons it taught her and we dive into why the bounce back from failure is more important than the "failure" itself. We also speak about the art of detaching and why you cannot be fully present if you're attached - I LOVE this concept and I know you will too! She also shares a very curious self care activity which I adore (and need to try myself) and a little about setting and executing goals! Can't wait for you to dive into this chat! If you love this episode, tag myself and Lola @yummololaberry and let us know what your biggest takeaways were, or send this to a loved one who will enjoy it as much as you! Hello and Welcome to Unearthing Wellbeing with me, Ask Elizabeth; Where Our Greatest Wealth Is Health. These episodes were recorded shortly after COVID-19 lockdown eased in Melbourne, thus, the discussions surrounding the whirlwind experience were mentioned. WOWEEE! I was very fortunate to have Lola Berry as my first ever guest on my podcast. She is so down to earth, modest, cheerful and made me feel so relaxed despite my nerves prior to recording my first ever episode with a guest. For those of you who do not know of Lola, she is a Nutritionist, yogi teacher, author, founder of Lola Coffee, podcast of Fearlessly Failing and is currently in acting school! As you will hear she lives and breathes holistic health and has relocated to the shores of Byron Bay for a more laid back lax approach to life. We spoke about so many topics including the art of saying no and putting our needs first otherwise we are of no service to others nor ourselves!!! This was prevalent in many of our conversations surrounding food, health, wellbeing and socialising. Lola's amazing podcasts can be heard here!
