In this episode, Grant sits down with four motivated leaders who are driving solutions to the Tijuana River sewage crisis. Ramon Chairez, Sarah Davidson, Lesly Gallegos-Stearns, and Kapili Pasa are proving that change isn't just possible, it is already happening through advocacy, environmental education, and community organizing. Their stories reveal deep, personal connections to the estuary, the ocean, and the communities most affected. From respiratory illnesses to economic setbacks and lost opportunities for youth, they highlight why urgent action is needed and why those in power must be held accountable. Everyone in San Diego County deserves clean air, safe oceans, and a thriving future. Despite the challenges, their message is clear: action is necessary, and change is within reach. With growing community advocacy, legal action, and scientific research, momentum is building. As Kapili puts it, "The alternative is unacceptable." This episode is a call to believe in San Diego's ability to solve big problems and to be part of the solution. Special Series: This season, Stop & Talk is diving into one of San Diego County's biggest environmental and health emergencies: the Tijuana River Sewage Crisis. In this episode of Listen Up Landlords, presenters NRLA Chief Executive Ben Beadle and landlord Richard Blanco welcome a panel of guests to look back over the last 12 months and ahead to 2025. It has been a year of change, with a new Government bringing forward new legislation in the form of the Renters' Rights Bill with new minimum EPC ratings also on the cards for landlords going forward. The supply crisis blighting the private rented sector continues, with 21 households competing for every home advertised to let, and rents rising as a result. To unpack all this, and more, Ben and Richard are joined by Jeni Browne, Business Development Director at Mortgage Finance Brokers, Sarah Davidson, consumer champion and financial journalist, Kristjan Byfield, letting agent and founder of proptech firm The Depositary and landlord, Sarah Watt. Covering everything from the change in Government and mortgages and finance to the regulation change up ahead, the panel takes stock of where we are now before some horizon scanning as to what we can expect to see over the next 12 months. Free giveaway https://www.paulieskaja.com/opt-in1 In this episode of Live Into Your Best Life, I sit down with Sarah Davidson, an Agile trainer and coach whose heart-centered approach to coaching inspires me deeply. Our conversation dives into the impact of global connectivity in Agile coaching, allowing us to bridge continents and collaborate with shared values and goals. Sarah's dedication to creating a lasting, meaningful legacy through her coaching is evident, as she emphasizes fostering alignment and purpose within teams and organizations. We discuss how powerful, open-ended questions like “What else?” and “What's next?” allow for genuine, self-reflective responses, avoiding the defensiveness often provoked by “Why?” Sarah explains how this method encourages a safe, non-judgmental environment, which empowers individuals and teams to reach their potential while prioritizing well-being. Another key theme is teamwork in modern workplaces, where generational dynamics bring both challenges and growth opportunities. We explore the concept of reverse mentoring, where senior members learn from the fresh perspectives of younger colleagues, fostering respect, adaptability, and innovation. This blend of generational insights, Sarah and I agree, can drive resilience and cohesion within organizations. When it comes to leadership, we highlight qualities like curiosity, active listening, and validation—skills that inspire and nurture growth within teams. Effective leaders don't just share their opinions but create a space where all voices are valued, fostering a “ripple effect” of trust and confidence. Sarah explains how small, supportive gestures from leaders can profoundly impact individual growth and contribute to a more inclusive workplace culture. To round out our conversation, Sarah and I reflect on the importance of self-awareness for younger generations entering the workforce. Cultivating an understanding of one's thoughts, emotions, and narratives helps them face challenges with resilience and live with purpose. This episode is packed with insights into fostering meaningful connections, driving collective success, and embracing growth in both personal and professional lives.
Sarah Davidson's first blood relative arrived when she gave birth to her son Teddy. Growing up, Sarah always knew she was adopted; brought to Australia from South Korea at just five months old, it was never a secret her parents, her brother and Sarah herself weren't biologically related to each other. But even after finding out you're adopted there are so many other questions, some of which people may choose to never find answers for. As Adoption Awareness Month comes to a close, we find out what life growing up adopted in Australia is really like. In today's episode, Sarah takes us through her fertility experience as an adoptee which prompted her to do a series of tests early in her journey. After a missed miscarriage, she embarked on ovulation induction but then spontaneously conceived while on an overseas holiday. She opted for private obstetric care alongside support from a doula and at 37 weeks, when baby Teddy remained in a footling breech position, she booked a planned caesarean. But, Teddy had other plans and Sarah's waters broke in dramatic fashion while standing outside the hospital. His surprise early arrival allowed them to stay in an uninterrupted bubble for five days and Sarah takes us right through her initial postpartum including her caesarean recovery and breastfeeding. A joyful episode brimming with considered advice and unbridled truths, I think you'll really enjoy this one. ------- If you're pregnant, we encourage you to start thinking about your birth recovery now. Hey Lifers,This episode was such a joy. Sarah Davidson is known as a 'funtrepreneur" (fun entrepreneur) for giving up her very successful career path in law to start her own business and find what brings her joy. Sarah speaks with incredible insight into the way that we view success and how that aligns (or doesn't) with happiness. Something a lot of us question is whether we could be feeling a bigger sense of purpose if we were doing something else, and also when to take that lunge and when not to; a cost-benefit analysis of your work-life happiness. Another really interesting part of Sarah's story is that she was adopted at 5 months old from an orphanage in Korea. Sarah has found a different type of curiosity around her identity now that she is pregnant and will have a family member reflect her physical traits for the first time. We speak about some of the questions that adoptees face and have themselves. If you'd like to follow along with Sarah's story, or get her podcast, books etc you can find her here! While Something To Talk About takes a break, we are revisiting some of the most emotional and revealing moments from the almost 50 guests who have joined us in conversation on this podcast over the past year. The complex issue of becoming a parent, or the conscious decision not to, is at the heart of today's episode. We begin by revisiting our powerful conversation with influencer and cult brand co-founder Sarah Davidson, who shared her experience of pregnancy loss with Something To Talk About to break the taboo around speaking publicly about miscarriage - especially given Sarah found it impossible to find stories of other women who had experienced pregnancy loss but were yet to conceive again. After opening up about her heartache and grief after miscarrying last year when she and her husband Nick decided to start trying for a baby, Sarah and Nick have since shared a happy update with her followers - they are expecting a baby boy later this year. This issue was also at the centre of my interview with British author and podcaster Elizabeth Day, who spoke with such candour that she moved many listeners to tears when detailing the anger, the grief - and ultimately, the acceptance - that she experienced when coming to terms with this chapter of her life. Having famously coined the term ‘fertility privilege', Elizabeth had many thought-provoking observations as to what we should and shouldn't share on social media when navigating baby news. And how can we support the people in our lives who have had that choice taken away from them? With these conversations being brought to the fore more than ever before; as Michelle Andrews of the Shameless Media empire told Something To Talk About, the decisions regarding if and when to have children is her ‘Roman Empire'. At 29, Michelle explained how the dialogue around babies, pregnancy and pregnancy loss is not only the issue keeping her up at night, but occupying the minds of many of her generation. And what of those who have decided to be childfree, and yet are forced to contend with the judgement and unsolicited questions from others over that decision? Maria Thattil is one such woman, and as she told this podcast, the choice to raise a child shouldn't be made to fix something in your life or appease the people around you. But for those who are equally certain they do want to have children, radio presenter Fifi Box has demonstrated that there are many different ways to create a family. As a single mother to two beautiful daughters, the youngest of whom was conceived via IVF, Fifi was incredibly generous in talking Something To Talk About's listeners through the highs and lows of that process. A warning that today's episode touches on subject matter that could be triggering for some listeners. Welcome to Pass Around the Smile's first guest episode with the one and only, Sarah Davidson. You may know her as Spoonful of Sarah, or the woman behind Seize the Yay where through her podcast and book she effortlessly guides and inspires with uplifting, honest and thought provoking content. Sarah is witty, intelligent, and from my eyes, one of the most inspiring business women in Australia who went from the corporate world as a lawyer, to funtrepreneur when she founded Matcha Maiden and Matcha Mylkbar.I received a very supportive and encouraging email from Sarah at the beginning of my podcasting journey, so I thought what better way to begin this episode than chatting about her quote, ‘success doesn't halve when you share it, it doubles.'We dive into Sarah's leap from what was expected to be her long term career as a lawyer to the unknowns of starting a business - with all the fears, blocks and limiting beliefs which came along the way. Sarah has a really refreshing approach as we discuss comparison and imposter syndrome and how we can combat it, so it doesn't take away our inner power. We finish the episode chatting about growth and how we just don't know when the seeds we are planting will bloom! Your hard work WILL pay off in the way that is right for you and your unique path.Sarah's links below:View Sarah's website here!Find Sarah on Instagram here!@seize_the_yay @spoonful_of_sarah Cleo's links below:View my website here! We thought Laura loved running… until we heard what Samantha Gash has taken part in! The endurance athlete and Survivor star was the first woman in the world and youngest person at the time to complete the Four Desert Grandslam – a series of 4 x 250km ultramarathons across 1 year in the world's toughest climate deserts. She has also run 379km across Australia's Simpson Desert, amongst many other incredibly challenging ultramarathons – so it's no wonder Sam was once the subject of a documentary called Desert Runners. She is about to take part in another enormous feat, running 1600km from the West to the East of Nepal. In today's KICPOD episode, Steph & Laura find out how any of this is even humanly possible, and what kind of mindset you need to have to achieve such an incredibly massive goal. If you're looking for motivation and want to get better at goal setting, this is the ep to listen to! I have a been a big fan of Sarah's for some time now and I love her even more after this interview (total fan girl moment for me)! In and amongst this, a chat about the danger zone a lot of us are in - the zone where we won't really question what we are doing, unless we are actively unhappy. We also chat about Seizing Your NAY which is equally as important as the yay, finding your why, rewiring failures as movement forwards and her tips on meaningful self care.We end with a chat about the importance of PLAY & why dreaming big needs to be small enough so you can actually start.I can't wait for you to tune into this one - I know you will love it as much as me!
