What if your greatest business challenge could become your launchpad into thought leadership? Today, Bill Sherman sits down with Aaron Marcum, visionary behind Breakaway 365 and bestselling author of EntreThrive, to explore how a journey from entrepreneur to industry thought leader unfolds—often unintentionally. Aaron shares how his frustration with data gaps in the home care space led to the founding of a data analytics company and, unexpectedly, a national reputation as a thought leader. Along the way, he leveraged the insights of thinkers like Brian Tracy and Michael Gerber, and later deepened his impact through a Master's in Applied Positive Psychology under the guidance of Dr. Martin Seligman. Aaron breaks down how storytelling with data shifted his role from CEO to an in-demand industry voice, fueling brand growth, product evolution, and ultimately, a lucrative exit. But he didn't stop there. With EntreThrive, he's now equipping entrepreneurs to beat burnout, overcome inertia, and find lasting fulfillment. Whether he's on stage, coaching leaders, or writing his next big idea, Aaron exemplifies how thought leadership evolves with intention and legacy in mind. He doesn't just teach frameworks—he lives them. And his mission? To empower other coaches and entrepreneurs to do the same, with impact that extends beyond business and into family, travel, and values. Three Key Takeaways: • Thought Leadership Can Be Accidental—But It Shouldn't Stay That Way: Aaron began as a consumer of thought leadership, applying insights from Brian Tracy and Michael Gerber to his business. Over time, he evolved into a recognized voice in the home care industry by solving real problems with data, eventually becoming an intentional and strategic thought leader. • Data + Storytelling = Impact: His ability to interpret data and turn it into actionable insights transformed his brand visibility, customer engagement, and exit valuation. By controlling the narrative through thought leadership, he elevated his company's reputation and market value. • Purpose Drives the Next Chapter: After exiting two companies, Aaron continues to lead with purpose—not for profit, but for impact. Through EntreThrive and Breakaway 365, he's focused on coaching entrepreneurs to overcome burnout and thrive, combining positive psychology, personal experience, and a calling to serve others. If you're exploring how thought leadership can evolve from personal insight to organizational strategy, this episode offers complementary perspectives. In Discovering Thought Leadership, Mark Smith shares his journey from HR research to establishing a formal thought leadership role at SHRM, navigating internal structures to align research with actionable business goals.

On this episode of This Is Woman's Work, we tackle fear and rejection—how to face it, move through it, and ultimately conquer it. Why? Because everything we want is on the other side of fear, and building bridges to cross it is essential for growth and fulfillment. I'm joined by Jodi Wellman, a former corporate executive turned executive coach, with a Master's in Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. Jodi teaches in the Master's program at Penn and is a trainer for the Penn Resilience Program. She is also the author of You Only Die Once, has a thought-provoking TEDx Talk on using the reality of death to inspire life, and leads Four Thousand Mondays, dedicated to ensuring people live life fully and without regret. In this conversation, we'll explore why letting go of fear, the weight of others' opinions, and the risk of rejection leads to more fulfilled living. Regret, we agree, is far scarier than failure. The truth is, we regret the things we don't do more than the things we try and fail at. There's a quote I love that says something like: when I stand before God I want to be able to say I used all the gifts I was given, I have not a bit of talent or love left, I used it all up. In this episode, we're diving into an incredibly profound and deeply personal journey with Robert Mack, an Ivy League-educated Positive Psychology Expert, Celebrity Happiness Coach, and author. UPenn is the only institution in the world offering a Master's degree in Applied Positive Psychology, and Robert is one of the leading voices in understanding the connection between happiness and success. But what makes Robert's story extraordinary is his journey from despair to hope, from contemplating ending his life to becoming a beacon of positivity and resilience. Robert shares his raw and unfiltered account of being deeply unhappy from an early age, battling severe anxiety and self-loathing, and reaching a point where he considered suicide as the only way out. Yet, in his darkest moment—knife in hand—something remarkable happened. Robert describes an overwhelming sense of peace, love, and joy washing over him, a feeling so profound that it stopped him in his tracks. He refers to this as a "divine intervention," a moment that shifted his perspective and inspired him to dig deeper into the science and spirituality of happiness. Robert's story is not just about his struggles but about the incredible transformation that followed. Through research, self-discovery, and faith in something greater than himself, he found a way to rewrite his narrative. Now, he dedicates his life to helping others find their own happiness and purpose. Whether you've struggled with dark moments or are simply seeking inspiration to live a more fulfilling life, this episode is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of finding light even in the darkest of times. Today's guest is a self-described “Grim Reaper's cheerleader” and author of You Only Die Once. In this episode, we explore a fascinating approach to breaking out of autopilot: counting how many Mondays you have left to live. With a blend of humor and urgency, Jodi Wellman challenges us to think differently about mortality and how it impacts our choices, passions, and the way we live each day. Our host, Gabe Howard, calculates his own remaining Mondays, where he's hit with the reality of limited time. This sparks a conversation about how the knowledge of a final “deadline” can help us seize the moment. Jodi reveals how facing our own mortality — without an existential crisis — can motivate us to act on our dreams and live with intention. With insights from positive psychology and a unique perspective on life's ultimate countdown, this episode will change how you look at the life you have left. “It is not remembering we're going to die so that we can just be dour and have a really morbid conversation and talk about how well that sucks. I grew up and my mom had a button that she wore on her lapel, like on her acid-washed jacket. Like, life sucks and then you die. We're not talking like that. No, this is about remembering that you're temporary so that it does help you to refine what your priorities are, to feel a little bit more of that sense again, or maybe that intensity and urgency.” ~Jodi Wellman, MAPP To learn more -- or read the transcript -- please visit the official episode page. Daria Ermolenko is a Relationship and Time-management Coach. With an MSc in Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology from the University of East London, Daria runs her own coaching practice. She works with clients 1:1 to create meaningful change in their lives.Daria helps people break free from the limiting beliefs society imposes about what relationships 'should' look like, empowering them to create deeper, more meaningful connections. In today's episode, we 'll be diving into a discussion on how to move beyond mediocre, mundane relationships and instead, build ones that are truly fulfilling and flourishing. We start by exploring the inner work required to establish healthy relationships. It all begins with knowing what you deserve and cultivating a strong relationship with yourself. You can't create genuine connections with others until you're whole and fulfilled as an individual, comfortable in your own skin, and confident in your worth. This means recognising your own inherent value, meeting your own needs, and finding contentment in being alone - without relying on someone else to fill any emotional voids. As when you reach this place of self-assurance, your relationships will be driven by true connection, desire, and passion, rather than a need for external validation. From there, Daria shares her insights on how to move past the 'baseline' and seek relationships that truly align with your values and potential. We'll discuss recognising red flags, having the courage to stand up for what you deserve, and the importance of communication and honesty - ensuring you're able to vocalise your needs and desires without fear. Authenticity also plays a role here - showing up as your true self, wholeheartedly, without wearing a facade to fit someone else's expectations. Only then can you cultivate the kind of relationship that helps you flourish, rooted in mutual respect and true connection.Life Coach Directory profile: https://www.lifecoach-directory.org.uk/lifecoaches/daria-ermolenko Website: https://www.dariaermolenko.com/LinkedIn: http://linkedin.com/in/daria-ermolenko-73b7b3187

Well, our perception of its value definitely increases. If we knew we would live forever, which sometimes is a fantasy. And to be honest, other than it sounding exhausting, if we knew we were going to live forever, we would never take action on anything because there'd be no real literal deadline. You'd just say, Yeah, I'll go and take that college course maybe like in the next thousand years, because you could do it. But we'd never get anything really done. We unfortunately need the deadline and it can be a bummer, but it's the activating force that can help us to get going on our dreams and our intentions." On the Life Calculator "So my company, I called 4,000 Mondays, because we roughly get 4,000 weeks, with the math of working backwards. First of all, if you want to calculate how many Mondays you have lived so far, good for you. And let's celebrate those years and Mondays. That's amazing. But more importantly, what do you have left? So for example, I know I have 1,814 left if I live an average female life to 83. Men live till an average of 78, at least in the US to make this a localized calculation. And the math would be that you take either the 83 or the 78 or 80 if you don't identify with other gender, and minus your current age, and then multiply by 52. And that number is designed to make you go Oh!" On Identity & Purpose in Retirement "Identity is a real thing. A lot of people will end up re-evaluating life in a new retirement or even, have been in retirement for a while. and say, it actually gives me such delight to know that my purpose is to just be a really good grandfather or I'm the best dog pa...
