In this episode of our Telugu Podcast, we are honored to have Dr. Srikanth Morlawar, a prominent figure in the world of homeopathy and alternative medicine. Dr. Morlawar shares his incredible journey, insights, and experiences that go far beyond homeopathy, making this a must-listen for anyone curious about science, medicine, and holistic health. Dr. Morlawar's story is one of resilience, innovation, and dedication. From nearly losing his MBBS seat by just one mark to running successful clinics and treating complex conditions like 14mm kidney stones without surgery, his career has been a testament to perseverance and passion. He's not just a doctor; he's a pioneer who believes in thinking outside the box, blending traditional and modern medicine, and embracing new possibilities for patient care. A Journey of Science and Innovation Throughout this conversation, Dr. Morlawar takes us on a journey of understanding how he overcame various challenges to become a leading practitioner in the field of homeopathy. He explains how his love for medicine and belief in its potential grew from a young age. From starting his first business at just 7 years old to opening his clinic in 1986, Dr. Morlawar's path to success wasn't conventional but deeply rooted in his dedication to helping others. He talks about the vital role that homeopathy can play in treating chronic conditions, providing patients with alternatives when conventional treatments fail. He also discusses how his work has evolved over the years, emphasizing his belief that the future of medicine is not about choosing one path over another but integrating multiple approaches for the benefit of the patient. Homeopathy: Myths, Facts, and Science A significant portion of the podcast addresses the common myths and misconceptions surrounding homeopathy. Many still view homeopathy as pseudoscience or believe that it's merely a placebo effect. Dr. Morlawar carefully breaks down these myths, offering a balanced perspective based on both scientific principles and real-life clinical experiences. He talks about how homeopathy has been successful in treating various conditions that conventional medicine hasn't been able to address effectively. But this episode goes beyond just debunking myths. Dr. Morlawar dives into the science behind homeopathy and explains how it works. He provides evidence from clinical practice and research to show that homeopathy can have real, measurable effects on the body and mind. His perspective is both rational and grounded in science, making this episode a must-listen for anyone curious about alternative medicine. Integrating Allopathy and Homeopathy for Holistic Care One of the most interesting parts of the conversation is Dr. Morlawar's discussion on integrating homeopathy with allopathy (conventional medicine). While many people see these two practices as mutually exclusive, Dr. Morlawar believes that both can coexist, offering a more holistic approach to healthcare. He shares numerous examples of patients who have benefited from combining the strengths of both systems, highlighting how a personalized approach can lead to better overall health outcomes. This part of the podcast encourages a shift in mindset, urging listeners to be open to all forms of medicine and not to limit themselves to just one. Dr. Morlawar stresses the importance of an open mind, continuous learning, and a commitment to doing what's best for the patient, regardless of which type of treatment is used. Conclusion Dr. Srikanth Morlawar's conversation in this podcast provides a perfect blend of science, inspiration, and practical advice. His journey from overcoming setbacks to becoming a leading figure in the world of homeopathy is an example of what it means to never give up on your dreams, no matter how difficult the road may be.

Welcome to the first episode of The Ken's brand new premium business podcast: Two by Two!In this episode, hosts Rohin Dharmakumar, CEO of The Ken and Praveen Gopal Krishnan, COO of The Ken, sit down with Professor R. Srinivasan and Srikanth Rajagopalan to discuss Flipkart and Phonepe – both owned by the American giant Walmart – are stepping over each other's toes in an effort to create more avenues. Why? Of course, to bring in revenue and strengthen their bottom lines. Flipkart is trying to make its mark with its payments app Supermoney and PhonePe is trying to have a crack at hyperlocal delivery with Pincode. But why wade into unfamiliar waters? Both Flipkart and PhonePe and Flipkart have their reasons. For Flipkart, their market isn't growing as fast as it used to and PhonePe – even with its billions of transactions – isn't able to make money off of it. Because UPI is a public good and should not be monetised. So, naturally, they are looking at places where opportunities lie. And both want what the other has.And therein lies the conflict. And what better way to plot this conflict but on a 2x2 – which represents the purest form of a conflict. In fact, each episode of the Two by Two podcast will feature an important story investigated and discussed and visualized as a 2x2 matrix. You can think of Two by Two as your personal investigative business brain! In our very first episode, you'll hear the speakers discuss how Flipkart and PhonePe are gradually moving in each other's directions too. When the overall market is only so big, niceties like staying out of your siblings turf is, well, impossible. So, the question we wanted to ask is, where do these two giants, advancing into each others turf, meet? Where do the sparks fly?And might they collide?About the guests:Prof. R Srinivasan teaches Strategy at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B). He has been teaching strategy for over a quarter of a century, and for the last decade focused on studying platform business models. He also leads IIM-B's Centre for Digital Public Goods (CDPG).Srikanth Rajagopalan is the CEO of Perfios Account Aggregation and runs Anumati - one of the earliest startups in the Account Aggregator space. In a career spanning nearly 30 years Srikanth has worked at FMCG companies, tech startups, global credit card giants, telecom and cloud computing. And don't miss out on the puzzle, here it is: The X-axis goes from full WFH on one side to full WFO on the other. What should the Y-axis be? You tell us.Write to us at twobytwo@the-ken.com to let us know what you thought of the episode and of course, your answer to the puzzle.

In this Better Satellite World podcast series, we ask the question: “What would you do if you had the power to make the world a better place during your career?” Joining SSPI's Lou Zacharilla to answer that question in the third episode are 2 members of the “20 Under 35” cohort of 2023: Srikanth Kodeboyina, Founder and CEO of Blue Eye Soft Corp dba Blue Space and Klaus Okkelberg, Electrical Design & Analysis Engineer at Boeing. Srikanth Kodeboyina is the Founder and CEO of Blue Eye Soft Corp, currently in the process of becoming Blue Space. He moved to the United States in 2010 to pursue his education and earned his Master's degree in Computer and Electrical Engineering from the University of Dayton. Within six years of completing his degree, he was working for Fortune 100 companies and managing projects across 14 states with budgets up to $32 million. Srikanth moved on to be commissioned an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve, which led to him becoming a U.S. citizen. With citizenship came the opportunity to pursue his true dream, starting his own enterprise in the form of Blue Eye Soft (BES). The company initially offered IT consulting and management services, but it quickly expanded to include BlueDoc AI, Blue Space and Blue Space International, creating a specialty in the application of artificial intelligence models to analyze vast amounts of data, text and imagery. BES has established offices in South Carolina and New Mexico and intends to establish a presence in an international business hub in India next. The company has achieved the highest security clearances and been awarded contracts from agencies such as NASA and AFWERX, a technology directorate of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). Since founding BES, Srikanth has been chosen by more than 20 organizations to participate in incubator/accelerator programs for top entrepreneurs. He was a member of the first cohort of the New Mexico Lab-Embedded Entrepreneur Program (LEEP) at Los Alamos National Laboratory and was also chosen to be part of MIT's Engine program that helps the next generation of “Tough Tech” leaders navigate the commercialization process. Klaus Okkelberg is an Electrical Design & Analysis Engineer at Boeing. In his current position, he works at Boeing Phantom Works Space on moving ground-based signal processing algorithms to space, reducing turnaround time, which is crucial for enabling autonomous operations. Klaus also works with artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML), specifically deep neural networks (DNNs), for image-based inspection and pose estimation – the detection of the position and orientation – of unknown satellites. Supervised AI/ML greatly reduces the need for feature engineering, meaning fewer engineers and revisions are needed per project. Using DNN algorithms has sped up development of new image processing functions and reduces the cost of developing and deploying new space-based imaging sensors, which has led to many new business opportunities for Boeing with national space government customers. Klaus has personally developed several key innovations in AI/ML, including data augmentations, training regularizations and high-dimensional space embeddings. These developments greatly reduce generalization error and enable the use of real satellite imagery from different sources without additional pre- or post-processing. Klaus is a graduate of Penn State Schreyer Honors College with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and of the University of New Orleans with a Master's degree in the same field. At Penn State, his thesis on nonlinear control of marginal oscillators contributed to the more precise detection of explosive materials, providing immense benefit to potential customers such as the Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). Klaus interned at Xilinx in their signal integrity division.

Welcome back to First Principles! If you've been listening to us for a while, you know that First Principles covers a lot of topics. Leadership, organization building, decision making, learning methods, careers, life principles, habits, people management, parenting..it goes on.But if there's a common thread that connects them all together, it's entrepreneurship. Thus, today we have a “supercut” episode about the lives of founders. You're probably familiar with our supercut episodes. Every now and then we go back to our earlier episodes and stitch together some of the most interesting conversations from them. And so, we've put together this special supercut episode that takes you through the lives of five accomplished, original and diverse founders. They are Kunal Shah, the founder and CEO of CRED, Srikanth Velamakanni, the co-founder and Group CEO of Fractal, Ronnie Screwvala, the co-founder and Chairperson of UpGrad, Gaurav Munjal, the co-founder and CEO of Unacademy, and Smita Deorah, the co-founder and CEO of LEAD School. We cover their childhood, their careers and the choices they made, all of which helped them become the people they are today.Of course, I'll urge you to go back and listen to our full episodes – but this if you're not caught up on our older episodes, this is the perfect place to start. Here's a quick glance at the conversations in this episode: I spoke with Kunal earlier this year, in a conversation full of wonderful analogies and sharp perceptions of the world. And how Kunal's childhood and teenage years, when he was thrust into work to support his family, led him to the core philosophy behind CRED.Next up is Srikanth Velamakanni, the co-founder and Group CEO of Fractal. And Srikanth's childhood, too, is an important part of his journey as a founder. Especially when you consider the fact that growing up, he decided never to go into business. Because his father would often tell him that there was no such thing as an honest businessman. And yet, in 200o, Srikanth pooled in 2 lakh rupees to build Fractal. That's right – they've been around for nearly 25 years.Srikanth tells me what changed. Next, we have Ronnie Screwvala, the chairperson and co-founder of UpGrad. Ronnie's on the opposite end of the spectrum from Srikanth – growing up, he told his parents he's never going to work for someone else. Ronnie calls it serendipity – or even karma or destiny, and explains how he went from earning 500 rupees on the weekends to running multiple successful and colourfully varied organisations. This brings me to Gaurav Munjal, who you will know as the co-founder and CEO of Unacademy. And his story starts in college – when he ran a very successful blog devoted to - wait for this - the actress Priyanka Chopra. And then a facebook page that earned him thousands of dollars from ads.He was a content creator before it was even a profession — and he explains how this led to Unacademy. Lastly, we have Smita Deorah, the co-founder and CEO of LEAD school. Like Gaurav and Ronnie, she's built a massive institution in education, too.Smita built LEAD school as a way to completely rejig the education system and everything that it's built of: the curriculum, pedagogy, technology, even the parents' mindset. And like our other guests, she has a very interesting story driving her too – and it starts when her daughter was only six months old. Welcome to First Principles, The Ken's fortnightly leadership podcast! I am Rohin Dharmakumar, your host.First, if you're a new listener of this podcast, I think you've clicked on the right episode. And if you're a long-time listener – thank you, by the way – then you might know that here at First Principles, we have a few favourite questions. And we try and ask these questions to most of our guests. The most interesting part of this is that every guest has a vastly different answer to the same question – their age, experience, outlook on life…even their co-founder or their family plays a significant role in how they answer our questions. Take motivation, for example. What drives founders/CEOs, even when things aren't looking so good?It could simply be untameable perseverance – like in the case of Deep Kalra, the founder of MakeMyTrip. For Ruchi Kalra of OxyCo, it was the people around her. Srikanth Iyer of Homelane, in fact, quotes from a book that changed the game for him.We highly recommend going back and listening to our full episodes, but this is a great place to start, too. We went back to some of our older episodes to make a supercut of some very specific answers from our guests to questions on motivation, perseverance, finding the right opportunity in a difficult market and fighting stress. Good stress, as one of our guests calls it.Here are our guests:We start with Deep Kalra, the founder and chairman of MakeMyTrip – a company that began when India wasn't even ready for internet businesses. Deep talks about surviving as a travel business through the pandemic, learning to stay in the game and building to last. Deep Kalra of MakeMyTrip on being “22 years young”, presenting from Excel sheets instead of Powerpoint slides, the importance of open disagreements, and the good stress of buildingNext, we have Ruchi Kalra – who has built two profitable unicorns in seven years: OfBusiness and Oxyzo. She takes us through an important maxim that drives both her businesses: finding the right opportunity in the right sector, even if it's crowded.Ruchi Kalra of Oxyzo on creating two unicorns in 7 years, spotting gigantic market opportunities, putting profits and cash flow first, and letting go of personal ambitionsKamal Sagar, the founder of Total Environment, has had one thing driving him for 27 years: good quality. Good quality that even thousands of real estate companies in the West are just not able to deliver on. The most interesting part is how he does it: Kamal builds homes the way software is built. Kamal Sagar of Total Environment on picking principles over convenience, reimagining real estate, design, authenticity and learning to say noWhen I asked how Srikanth Iyer, the founder of Homelane, fought through the first few years of absolute chaos at his startup, Srikanth said he focuses on understanding what you're bad at. He explains how he learnt and applied this First Principle in his career.Srikanth Iyer of Home Lane on embracing what you're bad at in order to do better at what you're good at, and being a wartime generalShan Kadavil of FreshToHome cracked a really tough business in a super competitive market. And then, he evolved as a CEO and a leader. He talks about scaling a 40-employee organisation to a 4000-employee organisation, encouraging his team to “be their own CEO,” obsessing over the right metrics, and much more. Shan Kadavil of FreshToHome on selling fish, building moats, encouraging bottom-up “shots on goal”, and being honest with boardsThis is First Principles— The Ken's fortnightly leadership podcast. The Ken is India's first subscriber-only business journalism platform. Worth over $1.5 billion today, Fractal has raised close to $700 million in venture capital over its lifetime. But the path it took to get here is anything but boring. Growing up in a middle-class Indian family, Srikanth Velamakanni, Fractal's co-founder and group CEO, remembers his father telling him there was no such thing as an “honest businessman”. The phrase was an oxymoron.“So when I grew up, I told myself that while I'd go and get a world-class education, I would always work for a high-quality company. I would never start a business. It was very clear to me,” he says as we sit down for the latest episode of First Principles. And yet, in 2000, Srikanth and five of his friends quit their jobs, scraped and pooled in Rs 2 lakh each (~US$2,400), and started Fractal. It takes a lot to build companies for the long term—only 2% of all companies get to celebrate their tenth anniversary. The school of hard knocks is unforgiving to young companies and first-time founders. The odds are measured in terms of survival first and not success.Fractal and Srikanth were part of the 2% that survived the first ten years.Listen to this episode of First Principles to understand how the soon-to-be 25-year-old company plans to beat the odds and still be around 50 years from now.You can read the full transcript of the conversation here: https://the-ken.com/podcasts/first-principles/srikanth-velamakanni-fractal/
The shortest distance between two points may be a straight line, but when it comes to entrepreneurial success, straight lines rarely exist. Instead, the paths taken by most successful entrepreneurs are meandering, if we're applying the benefit of hindsight. If we don't, well, they're often random, confusing and even frustrating.Take Srikanth Iyer, the co-founder of CEO of Home Lane, one of the market leaders in the online home interiors space today. But wind the clock back on Iyer's entrepreneurial journey and we see him doing terribly in class 12, but getting into a good college because he was a state-level table tennis player. He gets into Wipro after finishing his degree, but quits in just 3 months to…assemble and sell PCs. When that business naturally gets commoditized, he shuts it down and starts an edtech business way before it was cool to do so.Unfortunately, not enough Indians have PCs or broadband to buy his “CD-ROMs” (a concept as alien today as rotary telephones). So he hitched his wagon with PC makers, book publishers and even soap brands! He would end up selling the same business thrice over.By the time he started Homelane in 2014, Iyer already had over two decades of entrepreneurial experience, though none of it was in home interiors. His first year was chaos. His first NPS score was -27. He almost went into depression. The popular view of enterprise is that you succeed by doing more things. Iyer offers a well-argued (and well-experienced) countertake to that. Sometimes it's best to say no to things or to focus on understanding what you're bad at.“I'm a better wartime general,” says Iyer to me during an honest, candid and insightful conversation that spans his three decade career as an entrepreneur. If you like First Principles, please help us reach more listeners and subscribers by rating us. Delve into the life and poetry of one of the chief architects of the Black Arts Movement in Chicago, Carolyn Marie Rodgers (1940-2010) with a very special guest: Carolyn's sister Nina Rodgers Gordon. Born in Bronzeville, Carolyn Marie Rodgers cofounded Third World Press, which remains the largest independent Black-owned press in the United States. Rodgers's poetry is widely anthologized, and in 1976, her book, How I Got Ovah: New and Selected Poems, was a finalist for the National Book Award. Today, we have the great honor of hearing her poetry read by her sister, Nina Rodgers Gordon, who talks about what it was like growing up with Carolyn and the many phases of her writing and life. She's joined in the studio by Andrew Peart, a Chicago-based writer and editor who has worked with Nina for several years to organize the papers of Carolyn Marie Rodgers, and Srikanth “Chicu” Reddy, former guest editor of Poetry and editor of the Phoenix Poets book series at the University of Chicago Press. You'll also hear a clip of Rodgers reading her poems in the late 60s and speaking at Northwestern University in 2007 for a symposium called "The Black Arts Movement in the Broader Legacy of the Civil Rights Movement." You can read more on Rodgers, and more of Rodgers's work, in the October 2022 issue of Poetry.
