“If you were gonna be a stripper…what would your stage name be?” When you think about 1986, it's almost hard to fathom that we are 40 years away from it. Four decades away from perhaps THE biggest year in metal, and we're not just saying that because we were still young and impressionable, but because it was quite literally THAT epic of a year! March, September, and October of 1986 gave us Master of Puppets, Peace Sells… (But Who's Buying?), and Reign In Blood (respectively), and that's only 3 albums of thrash greatness from that year! There was also the (now classic) documentary “Heavy Metal Parking Lot”, showing a bunch of young metal heads pre-gaming for a Judas Priest show. And of course you had “Crossroads”, the favorite guitar movie of young fledgling woodshedding shredders who would become obsessed at mastering Eugene's bag of tricks in order to conquer the dark fretboard sorcery of one Jack Butler. Basically, when it comes to 1986 and metal, “everything that was good came out that year”, and now, over 14,000 days later, 1986 is still being celebrated and lauded as one of the biggest landmark years in all of metal, especially on this podcast! Get ready to find out which movie is “basically Karate Kid…but guitars”, prepare for a grammar lesson from Down Under regarding the proper usage of one of their most popular words, discover the transformative power of “The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning”, find out how “saddling” might be just the thing to spice up your bedroom game, and then JOIN US as we welcome “Juicebox” to the mainstage while we celebrate those who graduated MAGNUM CUM LOUDLY from THE CLASS OF 1986!!! Megadeth exists because Dave Mustaine got fired from Metallica in 1983 and spent forty years proving a point. Faster, more technical, more aggressive, the early run—Killing Is My Business, Peace Sells, Rust in Peace—defined precision thrash and political edge. The band moves in cycles: Countdown and Youthanasia bring mainstream success, Risk abandons identity and fails, the 2000s reset with System Has Failed and Endgame restores credibility, then Super Collider drifts again. Dystopia and The Sick, The Dying… and the Dead! reestablish control. That pattern holds: when Megadeth commits to itself, it works. In 2026, they release Megadeth, album seventeen, produced by Mustaine and Rakestraw. No experimentation, no genre drift—tight, modern thrash. It debuts #1 (~70K units), with mixed-positive reviews citing consistency over innovation. Built as a final statement, supported by a farewell tour, it consolidates the catalog rather than expands it.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsohttps://www.teepublic.com/user/radulich-in-broadcasting-networkFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulichInstagram: markkind76RIBN Album Playlist: https://suno.com/playlist/91d704c9-d1ea-45a0-9ffe-5069497bad59

There is no power point slide deck this week. For the past month we have been recording these videos several days in advance of publication and repeating the line that we hope peace will have been declared and the Strait reopened by the time of Saturday publication. Today the message is different. We are recording this late morning New York time on Thursday, April 9. A fragile ceasefire is sort of still in place and there is optimism that shipping volumes in and out of the Strait of Hormuz is on track to revert to something much higher than where we've been. It will of course take some time to get back to fully normal pre-War flows. We were originally planning a longer discussion with a power point on evolving our Super Vol theme to more explicitly call it Geopolitical Super Vol, and we will touch upon that in this video podcast. But given the dramatic ceasefire news and major equity and commodity market moves, we will instead address nine questions and takeaways that we see from this crisis.0:00 Introduction1:30 Q1: What is your most important takeaway following the ceasefire?2:50 Q2: In the short-term, will oil prices revert to pre-War levels?6:02 Q3: What about oil prices over the medium-to-longer-term?10:18 Q4: How was such a sizable shock not even worse in terms of impacts?13:07 Q5: What is your take away for US consumers? 15:26 Q6: Where could we be better?18:39 Q7: What about Canada?20:30 Q8: Why are we sticking with Super Vol as our price framework?23:04 Q9: So where do you come out on investment in both traditional and new energies?24:54 On A Personal NoteSubscribe to Super-Spiked to receive all content. In this episode of VRP Rocks, Paul Stephenson is joined by guitarist Chris Poland, best known for his time in Megadeth. Chris is back with a major new project, Nuclear Messiah, and the album Black Flame — a star-studded release featuring an incredible lineup including Arthur Brown, William Shatner, Rick Wakeman, Joe Lynn Turner, Sebastian Bach, Bumblefoot, Marty Friedman, Pat Travers and many more. It is pretty obvious that the Peace Corps was a unique intelligence-gathering operation, but most people have not heard how it was established and who financed the operation over the decades. There is also a pipeline of talent for NGOs and spook agencies that runs through the Peace Corps, making it hidden in plain sight. The other fake do-gooder organization with questionable partnerships and sketchy financing is Greenpeace, with its ties to John Podesta, George Soros, Bill Gates, and Planned Parenthood. It appears that they intend to preserve the planet through depopulation, which would explain their financial support from known eugenics operations and anti-humanity NGOs, such as the Tides Foundation, Open Philanthropy, and the World Wildlife Fund.—Watch the video version on one of the Macroaggressions Channels:Rumble: https://rumble.com/c/Macroaggressions YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@MacroaggressionsPodcast—MACRO & Charlie Robinson LinksHypocrazy Audiobook: https://amzn.to/4aogwmsThe Octopus of Global Control Audiobook: https://amzn.to/3xu0rMmWebsite: www.Macroaggressions.io Merch Store: https://macroaggressions.dashery.com/ Link Tree: https://linktr.ee/macroaggressionspodcast—Activist Post FamilyActivist Post: www.ActivistPost.com Natural Blaze: www.NaturalBlaze.com —Support Our SponsorsAnarchapulco: https://anarchapulco.com/ | Promo Code: MACROC60 Power: https://go.shopc60.com/PBGRT/KMKS9/ | Promo Code: MACROChemical Free Body: https://chemicalfreebody.com/macro/ | Promo Code: MACROWise Wolf Gold & Silver: https://macroaggressions.gold/ | (800) 426-1836LegalShield: www.DontGetPushedAround.com EMP Shield: www.EMPShield.com | Promo Code: MACROGround Luxe Grounding Mats: https://groundluxe.com/MACRO Christian Yordanov's Health Program: www.LiveLongerFormula.com/macro Above Phone: https://abovephone.com/macro/Van Man: https://vanman.shop/?ref=MACRO | Promo Code: MACROThe Dollar Vigilante: https://dollarvigilante.spiffy.co/a/O3wCWenlXN/4471 Nesa's Hemp: www.
But Who's Buying?. ⚡ #GothProds #lagalerianocturna #megadeth #metalhead #music GothProds Links Spotify -https://open.spotify.com/show/2hnlgkcGNl9GOAPa0WT9HW?si=7e9b95f203464fe6 Apple Podcast — https://podcasts.apple.com/mx/podcast/goth-prods/id1606324255?l=en Amazon Music — https://music.amazon.com.mx/podcasts/d10f63b6-f4f3-4a91-b21d-d98c2b08ca01/goth-prods?ref=dm_sh_xBGgYoDaqnREmWm0IoJu5r4kd Facebook — https://www.facebook.com/Goth-Prods-104237088306624/ Instagram — https://www.instagram.com/goth_prods/ TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@goth_prods

The Riffs, the Ruin, and the Rise of ThrashWhat do you get when two broke metalheads with a single bass and guitar channel their chaos into one of thrash metal's most iconic records? In 1986, Peace Sells... but Who's Buying? marked Megadeth's leap from Combat Records obscurity to Capitol-backed cult status. This episode of Dig Me Out unpacks how a band teetering on collapse crafted a cornerstone of ‘80s metal. We dig into the album's razor-sharp riffs, jazz-influenced drumming, and Dave Mustaine's snarky lyrical persona. From iconic MTV News basslines to heroin-fueled studio disappearances, this conversation covers the weird, wild, and weirdly disciplined story behind Peace Sells. We also explore how this record stood apart from Metallica's Master of Puppets and Slayer's Reign in Blood in the golden year of thrash. If you ever wore out your cassette copy on a Walkman, argued over Vic Rattlehead art, or caught the Peace Sells video on Headbanger's Ball—this one's for you.Episode Highlights• 0:00 – Wake Up Dead – Setting the tone: MTV, couch-surfing, and one guitar• 5:12 – Peace Sells – The bassline heard round the world and Mustaine's sarcastic snarl• 11:25 – Devil's Island – How Megadeth twisted groove and speed into something new• 17:45 – The album's strange second half – Covers, filler, and why “My Last Words” redeems it• 22:30 – Black Friday lore – occult inspiration, lost drummers, and high school memories• 29:00 – Mustaine's voice and vision – divisive, theatrical, and always unpredictable• 34:20 – How this fits into 1986 – Megadeth vs Metallica vs Slayer, and what made Peace Sells distinct• 42:00 – Final verdict – Is Peace Sells... but Who's Buying? essential? "Peace Sells... but Who's Buying?" is the second studio album by American thrash metal band Megadeth, released on September 19, 1986, through Capitol Records. Widely regarded as one of the most influential albums in thrash metal, it solidified Megadeth's position as one of the genre's “Big Four” alongside Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax. The album showcases the band's growing technical prowess, especially the intricate guitar work of Dave Mustaine and Chris Poland, and the tight rhythm section of David Ellefson on bass and Gar Samuelson on drums. Lyrically, the album deals with themes of political corruption, war, and social commentary—reflected in its iconic title track, "Peace Sells", which became a signature song for the band and a defining statement of 1980s metal's more rebellious and critical voice.Produced by Dave Mustaine and Randy Burns, Peace Sells... but Who's Buying? was a major step up in production from their debut, Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good!, and became a benchmark for thrash metal's musical and thematic potential.Would you like a track-by-track breakdown or a summary of its critical reception and legacy?Listen to the album on Apple MusicListen to the album on SpotifyWhat did you think of this album? Welcome to today's episode, where we dive into the explosive year of 1986—a year many consider the greatest in the history of thrash metal. We'll explore the rise of "The Big 4 of Thrash," the decline of punk (as well as hardcore starting to morph into crossover) as the dominant subgenre for disaffected youth, and how metal, especially thrash metal, began to roar into the mainstream. This was a year when Metallica gained significant exposure by touring with Ozzy Osbourne, and just a year after Motley Crue catapulted into the record-selling stratosphere. The "New Wave of British Heavy Metal" had established itself, transitioning from the "new" phenomenon to a major force in the arena circuit in the U.S. and beyond. ### Was 1986 the Greatest Year of Thrash Metal? #### The Rise of "The Big 4 of Thrash" **Metallica:** - 1986 saw the release of Metallica's seminal album *Master of Puppets*, which is often hailed as one of the greatest metal albums of all time. The album's complex compositions, aggressive sound, and critical lyrics elevated thrash metal to new artistic heights. How did *Master of Puppets* influence the thrash metal genre and its acceptance in the mainstream? - Metallica's tour with Ozzy Osbourne in 1986 was a pivotal moment for the band, exposing them to a broader audience. How did this tour help Metallica and thrash metal gain mainstream recognition? **Megadeth:** - Megadeth released their influential album *Peace Sells... but Who's Buying?* in 1986. The album's politically charged lyrics and technical prowess set it apart. How did Megadeth contribute to the evolution of thrash metal with this release? - Discuss the impact of Dave Mustaine's previous association with Metallica and how it shaped Megadeth's sound and rivalry with Metallica. **Slayer:** - Slayer's *Reign in Blood* also debuted in 1986, known for its brutal speed, intensity, and dark themes. Produced by Rick Rubin, the album pushed the boundaries of thrash metal. What was the significance of *Reign in Blood* in establishing Slayer's reputation in the metal community? - How did the album's controversial themes and aggressive style influence the thrash metal genre? **Anthrax:** - Anthrax released *Spreading the Disease* in late 1985 and followed it up with *Among the Living* in early 1987. Although slightly outside of 1986, these albums were critical in shaping their influence in the thrash scene. What role did Anthrax play in the diversification and popularization of thrash metal? #### The Decline of Punk as a Dominant Subgenre **Punk's Waning Influence:** - By 1986, punk's initial wave had largely dissipated, giving way to more diverse subgenres and a shift in youth culture. How did the punk movement's decline create a space for thrash metal to rise? - Discuss how the ethos of punk—its DIY spirit and rebellious attitude—continued to influence thrash metal bands, even as punk's mainstream presence waned. **Anarchy vs. Apathy:** - Punk had often been associated with anarchy and a rejection of societal norms, but by the mid-1980s, some elements of the punk scene had turned towards apathy and malaise. How did this shift affect punk's relevance to youth culture? - Compare and contrast how thrash metal's more structured rebellion and complex musicianship offered a new outlet for disaffected youth. #### Thrash Metal's Mainstream Breakthrough **Metallica and Ozzy Osbourne Tour:** - Metallica's tour with Ozzy Osbourne in 1986 was a significant boost for the band. How did Ozzy's endorsement and the exposure from the tour help solidify thrash metal's presence in the mainstream? - Discuss the broader impact of established metal acts like Ozzy Osbourne and Iron Maiden embracing and supporting the thrash metal movement. **Motley Crue's Success:** - Motley Crue's rise to fame after opening for Ozzy Osbourne in 1985 set a precedent for other metal bands. How did this success pave the way for thrash metal bands to achieve similar mainstream breakthroughs? - In what ways did the success of glam metal acts like Motley Crue contrast with the rise of thrash metal, and how did these two subgenres coexist in the mid-1980s? #### The New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) **Cementing the Legacy:** - By 1986, the "New Wave of British Heavy Metal" (NWOBHM) had firmly established itself. Bands like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Def Leppard were now major arena acts. How did NWOBHM influence the development of thrash metal? - Discuss the transition of NWOBHM bands from new and emerging acts to established, influential forces in the global metal scene. **Cross-Pollination of Genres:** - How did the NWOBHM's success in the early 1980s pave the way for the thrash metal bands of the mid-1980s? - In what ways did NWOBHM and thrash metal bands influence each other musically and culturally? ### Conclusion 1986 was indeed a landmark year for thrash metal, marked by iconic releases from "The Big 4" and significant mainstream breakthroughs. This year saw the decline of punk's dominance, as thrash metal emerged as the new voice of disaffected youth, blending punk's rebellious spirit with metal's technical prowess. As the "New Wave of British Heavy Metal" transitioned into established arena acts, thrash metal began to carve out its own place in the mainstream, setting the stage for its enduring influence on the music landscape. It is pretty obvious that the Peace Corps. was a unique intelligence-gathering operation, but most people have not heard how it was established and who financed the operation over the decades. There is also a pipeline of talent for NGOs and spook agencies that runs through the Peace Corps., making it hidden in plain sight. The other fake do-gooder organization with questionable partnerships and sketchy financing is Greenpeace and its ties to John Podesta, George Soros, Bill Gates, and Planned Parenthood. It appears that they intend to preserve the planet through depopulation, which would explain their financial support from known eugenics operations and anti-humanity NGOs, such as the Tides Foundation, Open Philanthropy, and the World Wildlife Fund. Dark Angel's second LP was released in 1986, the zenith of Thrash Metal and the same year as “Master of Puppets,” “Reign in Blood,” “Peace Sells..” and dozens of other classics of the genre. It didn't leave the same scars that many of those other LPs did at the time but how does this cacophony of Slayer inspired riffage hold up in 2023? Pretty damn well actually. With the exception of a few notable anomalies in metal history, a band's second (i.e., follow-up) album is almost always more ambitious (and usually a ginormous quantum leap forward) than their debut album in nearly every way imaginable. And because we can't help but “poke the bear” every now and again, we thought “Why not pick two of the most incredibly important follow-up albums in thrash metal history to duke it out in the coliseum?” From 1984, it's METALLICA with RIDE THE LIGHTNING. From 1986, it's MEGADETH with PEACE SELLS…BUT WHO'S BUYING? And just to complexicate this confusing conundrum even further: only one of the members of one of these bands has actually been in BOLTH bands AND has songwriting credits on BOLTH albums. (“To be fair”, ‘tis certainly a vexing quandary to say the least.) Get ready to “work out your traps and use your sports words” because with these two beasts in the ring doing battle, it's bound to get intense. Time to “sacrifice some fruit loops” as things get “downright biblical” in the world of classic metal as we pit two of the finest sophomore albums in thrash metal history by two of the finest bands in thrash metal history (who actually share thrash metal history together) against each other!
