We start the show with a catch up on what's been going on, starting with an update on the "death" of Vegas. We dive "shallow" (31:00) into AI and it's future impact on society. We jumped into (50:00) Halloween chat, which of course leads to candy chat. We have a brief (76:00) SiblingDribblings as we talk about cities that should NOT have NBA franchies, and then a Swig (85:00) conversation breaks out...to no one's surprise. We close out (95:00) talking about Axl Rose and Guns N' Roses...thus ending one of our longest episodes ever!Sponsors: ScottyJ's album, SwigScotty Js YouTube Page: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCV3WWSlwDKYf7P5k4XdP3zAIG & Twitter: the_bro_pod, littleBquotesE-mail the show!: thebropodnetwork@gmail.comBuy Merch!!: thebropod.threadless.comOur Website: www.bropodnetwork.com#Vegas#Sphere#Hickory#StevenLevin#SpinalTap#AI#chatGPT#candycorn#Halloween#candychat#Krackel#SiblingDribblings#pickleball#Swig#GunsNRoses#Airborne#podcasts#bropod#bropodnetwork

The Royal We (Akashic Books, 2025) is a poetic survey of a time set in a magical city that once was and is no more. It is a memoir written by Roddy Bottum, a musician and artist, that documents through prose his coming of age and out of the closet in 1980s San Francisco, a charged era of bicycle messengers, punk rock, street witches, wheatgrass, and rebellion. The book follows his travels from Los Angeles, growing up gay with no role models, to San Francisco, where he formed Faith No More and went on to tour the world relentlessly, surviving heroin addiction and the plight of AIDS, to become a queer icon. The book is an elevated wallop of tongue and insight, much more than a tell-all. There are personal tales of historical pinnacles like Kurt and Courtney, Guns N' Roses, and recaps of gold records and arena rock—but it's the testimonies of tragedy and addiction and preposterous life-spins that make this work so unique and intriguing. Bottum writes about his dark and harrowing past in a clear-eyed voice that is utterly devoid of self-pity, and his emboldened and confident pronouncements of achievement and unorthodox heroism flow in an unstoppable train that's both captivating and inspirational. A remarkable portrayal of a creative individual in emergence, a gay man figuring out how to be a gay man, and a detailed look at the nuance of 1980s pre–tech boom San Francisco, The Royal We will be greatly appreciated by people who loved Kathleen Hanna's Rebel Girl, Patti Smith's Just Kids, Hua Hsu's Stay True, and other memoirs about the artist's life. September 7th, 1988, marked the culmination of 11 years of toil and sweat, when a true “band of brothers” from down under became the biggest musical act on the planet by scooping the pool at the 1988 MTV Music Awards. Nominated for nine awards, INXS walked away with the top five major honors, edging out longtime rivals U2, along with music legends like George Harrison, Bruce Springsteen, and XTC, with their iconic Need You Tonight/Mediate song and groundbreaking video. By this time, the MTV Awards had already surpassed the Grammys as the preeminent music event, and INXS rightfully stood as the darlings of the international music industry. Having spent the previous decade tirelessly touring the globe and steadily building momentum, they reached a crescendo that placed them at the very center of the late-'80s musical zeitgeist. With fellow icons including Rod Stewart, Aerosmith, Depeche Mode, Guns N' Roses, Elton John, Cher, Bryan Ferry, Peter Gabriel, Cyndi Lauper, and The Bangles appearing or presenting, the night became both a peer-to-peer celebration and global recognition of INXS' remarkable achievements. Much of this impact was amplified through the vision of legendary TV producer Dick Clark, who ensured the event was broadcast around the world. So it's with great pleasure that Bee and I unpack this unforgettable night, explore the rise and history of the MTV Awards, and reflect on the lasting impact this achievement continues to hold within the INXS legacy. The 1992 album Five Deadly Sins by Australian hard rockers Candy Harlots was the last gasp of glam-influenced sleaze rock before grunge reshaped the musical landscape. Packed with swaggering riffs and arena-ready vocals, the record channels the spirit of Guns N' Roses, Kix, and Bang Tango while with a raw edge. Songs like “Sister's Crazy” and “Danger” showcase the band's knack for solid hooks. Despite strong material, the album's impact was limited by shifting industry tastes and lineup turmoil within the band. “The look on his face is like a kid on Christmas morning getting everything that he never asked for from Santa…” July 21,1987 marked the beginning of the GUNS N' ROSES era of L.A. metal with APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION, the scorching debut album chock full of enough sleaze, swagger, and excess to put the boys in Motley Crue to shame. If Slayer were the 80's answer to 70's Sabbath, then it's not a stretch to say that G'N'R were the 80's answer to 70's Aerosmith, with a loudness that falls right in that “in between” phase of hard rock and heavy metal. Technically, “it's not metal, but it kind of is…in a way”. This week's Mixtape Rewind goes to our most downloaded episode of all-time. Our countdown of bullpen closer entrance songs. The bullpen door swings open, and suddenly the energy in the stadium shifts. A familiar song begins to play, and everyone knows what comes next – the closer is about to take the mound. Baseball's most pressure-packed moments have their own soundtrack, and in this episode, Matt and Samer break down the most iconic entrance songs in baseball closer history. From unexpected choices that became superstition-fueled traditions to deliberately intimidating anthems designed to strike fear into opposing batters, these musical selections reveal the psychology behind baseball's specialized relief pitchers. The episode takes listeners through surprising stories – like Craig Kimbrell adopting "Let It Go" from Frozen after his wife swapped his walk-up music on Women's Day, or John Smoltz strategically using ABBA's "Dancing Queen" to throw off opponents. You'll discover how Kenley Jansen's commitment to geography-based entrance music follows him from team to team, and why Edwin Diaz's entrance set to "Narco" suddenly exploded in popularity. As Matt and Samer approach their top picks, they analyze what makes certain songs particularly effective for the closer role – from instantly recognizable intros to lyrics that perfectly complement the situation. The tolling bells that announced Trevor Hoffman's arrival, the Irish rhythms that energized Fenway Park for Jonathan Papelbon, and of course, the definitive closer anthem that accompanied the greatest reliever of all time, Mariano Rivera.Whether you're a baseball fanatic or just appreciate the perfect marriage of music and sports, this countdown reveals how these carefully chosen songs transform ordinary pitching changes into theatrical moments that energize fans and intimidate opponents. Send us a text by clicking this link!In this inaugural episode of a new weekly series, Rob returns from paternity leave to join Adrian, a Marine veteran and experienced homesteader, to create something long overdue in the firearms and preparedness community: family-friendly content that doesn't compromise on substance or Catholic morals. The hosts dive into the foundations of self-reliance, beginning with the critical importance of establishing daily discipline as the cornerstone of all preparedness efforts. Adrian shares insights from his military background and current homesteading lifestyle, emphasizing how early morning routines create space for prayer, physical fitness, and productivity before the demands of family life take over.Food and water preparation take center stage as the pair discuss practical approaches to building security without breaking the bank. From incrementally building a three-month food supply to understanding water storage requirements beyond the bare minimum FEMA recommendations, listeners gain actionable advice they can implement immediately. Adrian's experience raising livestock and growing food provides real-world context to these discussions, offering inspiration for those looking to move beyond mere storage toward sustainable production. What sets this conversation apart is its balanced approach to security. While firearms receive thoughtful consideration, the hosts emphasize that physical self-defense skills must precede weapons training, challenging common misconceptions in the preparedness community. Their PACE (Primary, Alternate, Contingency, Emergency) communications planning framework provides families with a structured approach to staying connected during disruptions of any scale.Whether you're just beginning to think about preparedness or looking to refine your existing plans, this episode offers a refreshingly grounded, faith-compatible perspective on building family resilience in uncertain times. The addition of Rob Caggiano (Anthrax, Volbeat) in 1998 began a creative writing relationship between him and singer Chris Lino and elevated the bands sound and performance. 1999 saw the band opening for nationally recognized acts along the East Coast, including Type O Negative, Life of Agony, Clutch and Static‑X, helping them catch the attention of renowned NYC radio station 92.3 K‑ROCK. Upon the release of their album they toured with Disturbed, Mudvanye, Kittie, and also Headlined a club tour in Europe. The band disbanded in 2001, with Caggiano leaving to join Anthrax and the other members dispersing into various projects. Chris Lino connected with Mike Orlando and finally in 2022, Orlando reached out to Chris and suggested that he consider re-recording and re-releasing some of Boiler Room's previously released songs. The result is Rectify which includes the brand-new stand out tracks "Haunted" and "Rectify".Order the CD: https://www.dekoentertainment.com/product-page/boiler-room-rectify-cdWebsite: https://www.dekoentertainment.com/inthesquare/boiler-roomFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/boilerroomband/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/boilerroom_band/Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@boilerroom_nyc Thanks for tuning in, please be sure to click that subscribe button and give this a thumbs up!!Email: thevibesbroadcast@gmail.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/listen_to_the_vibes_/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thevibesbroadcastnetworkLinktree: https://linktr.ee/the_vibes_broadcastTikTok: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMeuTVRv2/Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheVibesBrdcstTruth: https://truthsocial.com/@KoyoteFor all our social media and other links, go to: Linktree: https://linktr.ee/the_vibes_broadcastPlease subscribe, like, and share!

A rapper and filmmaker with a 20-year career, Phil shares how his love for music was ignited by influences like Oingo Boingo, Black Sabbath, and Guns N' Roses, shaped by his creative upbringing and his grandfather's encouragement to write poetry and stories. He recounts haunting moments, like picking up the “Suicide King” card in a trap house, which became a symbol of his past life, and how sobriety has unlocked a new level of creativity, with monthly singles and music videos that inspire others to stay clean. Episode 049: Buckle up for a journey through dystopian nightmares as Six Picks Music Club returns with a mind-bending exploration of scores and soundtracks that capture the essence of broken worlds! Geoff, Russ, Dave, and special guest Blake are diving deep into the musical territories that transform bleak futures from mere visual spectacles into immersive audio experiences. They'll twist through Philip Glass and Paul Leonard-Morgan's hypnotic compositions, rage with the underground Japanese punk energy of The Stalin, blast through cyborg-powered Guns N' Roses intensity, feel The Cure's burning emotional depths, descend into the dark digital realms of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, and finally launch into the cosmic expanses of Hans Zimmer's interstellar soundscapes. And because no dystopian soundtrack episode would be complete without a touch of chaos, the crew will also dive into the absolutely critical debate of popcorn butter ratios - because even in a broken world, snack strategy matters. Whether you're a soundtrack nerd, a dystopia enthusiast, or just someone who appreciates music that sounds like the apocalypse might be happening right outside your window, this episode promises to be a roller coaster through humanity's most beautifully broken musical moments. Yes, it's Christmas Eve on MTV's Headbangers Ball, and Ozzy Osbourne and Zakk Wylde are hosting the festivities. We're introduced to a slew of ‘80s metal bands, but kicking off the festivities is Ozzy himself with “Crazy Babies!” Poison, Judas Priest, Winger, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, and Guns N' Roses follow. Ozzy and Zakk have a great time introducing the videos. In fact, they even dress up in Santa hats. Ozzy even wears an odd mask and a pirate hook. Next up are videos from KISS, Hurricane, Alice Cooper, RATT, Aerosmith, and Cinderella. Ozzy suddenly appears in a picturesque Christmas fireside, but now inexplicably has on caveman feet and a club. Subsequently, videos from Lita Ford, Anthrax, Bad News (with the only Christmas song), Def Leppard, and Iron Maiden air. Finally, Hear N' Aid sang “Stars” and Headbangers Christmas concluded! Go get ‘em, boys!AC/DC singing “That's The Way I Wanna Rock 'N' Roll?” Yep. Yngwie Malmsteen performing “You Don't Remember, I'll Never Forget?” Uh huh. Sam Kinison? Sam Kinison?!?! Before he was conquering the music world with Guns N' Roses back in the late '80s and early '90s, guitarist Slash was Saul Hudson. London born and Los Angeles raised, his entertainment-industry parents did not provide the stability that a teen in the '70s and '80s would have benefited from. Consequently, young Slash found himself misusing a number of things, including an early marriage or two, and it took him more than a little while to find himself. Post Appetite For Destruction, Guns N' Roses embodied the word “dysfunction." As the band prepared for their follow up release, singer Axl Rose was losing a very public battle with the press while heroin and alcohol threatened to completely derail the band. Axl's “recovered memories” continued to fuel his erratic behavior and thus he continued to drive his band closer and closer to the edge. It all came to a head in St. Louis at the infamous Riverport Riot. This episode was originally published on March 17, 2020. Few hard rock bands lived the life portrayed in their songs as authentically as Guns N' Roses. Singer Axl Rose was driven by deep-seated demons that drove the creation of his band's legendary debut album, Appetite For Destruction, as well as his legendary bad behavior. His band was hardly any different. Nearly dysfunctional from drug use and excess, their record label feared they would all die before their first album was even released.
