Jeff Lax, a CUNY law professor and founder of SAFE CAMPUS, said former Fox News host Tucker Carlson has crossed into “dangerous antisemitic territory,” following Carlson's widely criticized interview with far-right activist Nick Fuentes, an avowed Hitler admirer, yimakh shemo ve'zikhro, and Holocaust denier. In a detailed discussion with VINnews contributor Alan Skorski, Lax said Carlson's recent commentary and guest choices reflect a disturbing pattern. “There were warning signs early on,” Lax said, “but after the Fuentes interview and the repeated smears against Israel and Jewish conservatives, it's clear what direction he's taken.” Fuentes appeared on Carlson's digital platform in October 2025, where he was given extended, largely unchallenged time to promote conspiratorial claims about Israel and its supporters. Carlson at times echoed similar themes, particularly in criticizing Israel's military actions in Gaza. Carlson told viewers that “you have to judge people on their behavior, not on their blood,” before accusing Israeli leaders of suggesting Palestinians are “stained from birth.” Fuentes, in the same interview, claimed Israel views all Palestinians as inherently “guilty.” The backlash intensified as Carlson labeled Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu an “enemy of Western civilization” and compared forms of Zionism to Nazism, saying: “Why are the Nazis bad? They're bad for that exact same reason… Any belief system that starts by declaring one group morally superior to another violates Western values.” The controversy also triggered turmoil within the conservative movement. After Heritage Foundation president Kevin Roberts declined to distance the organization from Carlson, several members of Heritage's antisemitism task force — including Rabbi Yaakov Menken, attorney Mark Goldfeder, and Christian Zionist leader Laurie Cardoza Moore — resigned in protest. Skorski noted that Carlson aggressively challenges pro-Israel guests while offering sympathetic platforms to Israel's harshest critics. The only exception cited was an interview with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), during which Carlson repeatedly interrupted the senator's defense of Israel. “Carlson insists he isn't antisemitic,” Skorski said. “But he consistently targets Jewish figures who strongly support Israel — Ben Shapiro, Mark Levin, AIPAC supporters — while giving a free pass to their most extreme opponents. In a recent interview with podcast host Alan Skorski, historian and author Uri Kaufman discussed his forthcoming book, American Intifada: Israel, the Gaza War, and the New Antisemitism, arguing that progressive support for Hamas following the October 7, 2023, massacre stems from cognitive dissonance and a racialized worldview that casts Israelis as “white oppressors” and Palestinians as “people of color.” Kaufman, whose previous work on the Yom Kippur War was named a top history book by the Financial Times, pointed to former President Barack Obama's post-October 7 comments as a prime example. Obama stated that “nobody's hands are clean” in the conflict and described the situation for Palestinians as “unbearable,” partly attributing it to Israel's “occupation.” “There was no occupation,” Kaufman said, noting Israel's full withdrawal from Gaza in 2005 under Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, including the removal of all settlements and even the exhumation of Jewish graves. He called Obama's reference to an ongoing occupation factually incorrect and not merely an instance of cognitive dissonance, but a deliberate distortion. Cognitive dissonance, Kaufman explained, occurs when individuals alter facts to preserve deeply held beliefs rather than adjust those beliefs. For many progressives, he argued, an obsession with race leads them to view Gazans as oppressed people of color and Israeli Jews — regardless of the country's ethnic diversity — as privileged whites. This framework, he said, allows supporters to justify calls for humanitarian aid to Hamas-ruled Gaza even after the group's October 7 attack killed 1,200 people, involved widespread rape and the burning of infants, and resulted in 250 hostages being taken. “Imagine if white supremacists controlled Gaza and committed the same atrocities against Black Israelis,” Kaufman posed hypothetically. “No one on the left would demand aid for them. But because Palestinians are seen as people of color, the same rules don't apply.” Kaufman also addressed Israel's intelligence failure leading to October 7, attributing it to the “Conceptzia” — a prevailing assumption that Hamas would never risk its lucrative arrangements with Israel by launching a full-scale attack. Prior to the massacre, he noted, Israel supplied Gaza with massive amounts of aid: in 2022 alone, 5.7 billion gallons of water, two-thirds of its electricity, all of its fuel, 67,000 truckloads of goods, and work permits for 17,000 Gazans. “Hamas was willing to sacrifice everything for jihad,” Kaufman said. “Israel had no Plan B because it never imagined an enemy would choose national suicide over survival.” On shifting global attitudes, Kaufman described a “moral collapse” in Western Europe and parts of the English-speaking world, including Canada, Australia, France and the United Kingdom. Laurie Cardoza-Moore, a prominent Christian Zionist leader ranked No. 2 on the Jerusalem Post's list of top 10 leading Christian Zionists, has resigned from her position at the Heritage Foundation after clashing with its president over the organization's refusal to cut ties with Tucker Carlson. Cardoza-Moore, founder and president of Proclaiming Justice to the Nations and host of “Focus on Israel,” stepped down from her role on Heritage's task force to combat antisemitism. The move followed Heritage President Kevin Roberts' decision not to sever relations with Carlson after the former Fox News host interviewed Nick Fuentes, a self-described Hitler admirer. During the interview, Cardoza-Moore expressed frustration with Carlson's pattern of platforming critics of Israel and alleged antisemites since leaving Fox News. Tal Hartuv, a survivor of a brutal 2010 terrorist machete attack in the hills outside Jerusalem, is preparing to mark the 15th anniversary of the ordeal next month — as one of her assailants walks free under a hostage exchange with Hamas. Hartuv, then known as Kay Wilson, was leading a nature tour for her American friend Kristine Luken on Dec. 18, 2010, when two Palestinian terrorists ambushed the women. The attackers bound and gagged them, tormenting them for half an hour before stabbing Luken to death. Hartuv survived by playing dead after being repeatedly slashed with a serrated machete. In a recent interview with podcaster Alan Skorski, Hartuv detailed the horror and her long road to recovery, chronicled in her memoir The Rage Less Traveled: A Memoir of Surviving a Machete Attack. “I was forced to my knees while he stabbed me over and over,” Hartuv recalled. “I watched my friend die. Miraculously, I lived.” The attack left Hartuv with severe physical injuries and PTSD. She later confronted her attackers in court and legally changed her name from Kay Wilson to Tal Hartuv to distance herself from being perpetually labeled a “victim of terrorism.” “It made my skin crawl,” she said of the constant reminder. “Changing my name let me live as a survivor, not shackled to that day.” Hartuv's story has resurfaced amid controversy: One of the convicted terrorists was released from Israeli prison as part of a November 2025 deal to free hostages held by Hamas. Retired Israeli Ambassador Yoram Ettinger warned in an interview that the United States and Israel are misplacing focus on Gaza and proxy groups while the core danger remains Iran, which he likened to a swamp spawning mosquitoes. “Chasing Hamas, the Houthis and Hezbollah is like chasing mosquitoes coming out of the Ayatollah's swamp,” Ettinger told interviewer Alan Skorski. The comments come after President Trump's 20-point Middle East peace plan and a joint U.S.-Israel operation inside Iran on June 13 that severely damaged Tehran's capabilities. Despite the setback, Ettinger said Russia, China and North Korea continue to rearm the Islamic Republic, endangering Israel and all U.S. interests in the region, including oil-producing Arab states. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Vice President JD Vance and top U.S. generals have visited Israel since the June strike, Ettinger noted. A 2026 threat assessment jointly compiled by the FBI, Department of Homeland Security and Director of National Intelligence warns that Iran, Russia and China are expanding sleeper-cell terror networks inside the United States, the ambassador said. On Palestinian statehood, Ettinger cited decades of PLO violence — from the 1960s and 1970s in Egypt, Syria, Jordan and Lebanon to the 1990s when Yasser Arafat's group backed Saddam Hussein's invasion of Kuwait despite Kuwait hosting hundreds of thousands of Palestinians with full rights. “Every Arab country knows what a Palestinian state would mean,” he said. Saudi Arabia and others publicly tie normalization with Israel to Palestinian statehood, but Ettinger called it “talking the talk, not walking the walk.” President Trump's recent declaration against Israeli annexation of the West Bank is temporary and diplomatic, not a permanent endorsement of a future Palestinian state there, Ettinger said.
