With Obama Out, Trump in, and Biden getting ready to take the reigns again (a'la Obama), chess pieces on the board of the Middle East are moving around. But it's not only two players. We are looking at Israel, Iran, Syria, Russia, Turkey, and the United States. Countries are making new allies, and gearing up against formidable enemies. Where will the pieces fall? Tamar speaks with Hadeel Oueis, a Syrian Arab woman who fled the civil war in Syria. Fleeing to the United States, she has become a journalist who reports from Washington D.C. for Arabic news outlets. Hadeel Oueis tells Tamar that the tide is changing in the Arab world, and that many Arabs who have been hurt by Iran are now coming over to the side of peace with Israel. Together, they are building an alliance against a common enemy, Iran. Also, Jerry Gordon joins Tamar and talks about the regional importance of a hold in the Middle East, not just for energy and economics, but also for a strategic military advantage. The latest Islamist atrocity in Europe occurred on November 2, 2020 in Vienna, Austria with a deadly attack that occurred on the eve of a lockdown triggered by an upsurge in the Coronavirus pandemic. The attack was perpetrated by one or more assailants on patrons at open air cafes on an exceptionally warm evening in the Austrian Capital. The toll was four (plus the perpetrator) killed, and 22 injured, several seriously. It is alleged that more than 100 shots were fired before quick work by Vienna police SWAT teams took down the principal perpetrator. Austrian counterterrorism security and police instituted a man hunt for the alleged accomplices who witnesses described as attired in white with black balaclavas and carrying long guns. The Vienna attack is the latest in a series of Islamist barbarous attacks in France involving the beheading of a schoolteacher, the late Samuel Paty by an 18 year old Chechen refugee, who had lectured on the exercise of free speech to students in junior high school in a Paris Suburb using the Charlie Hebdo cartoons that satirized Mohammed, the Prophet of Islamic doctrine. The Charlie Hebdo cartoons had triggered a January 7, 2015 massacre that killed 12, injuring 11 at the satirical Charlie Hebdo editorial quarters, and four Jewish hostages of a group of 20 detained at a Kosher supermarket. This was followed by an attack on the Nice cathedral by a 20-year Tunisian refugee émigré who entered France from Italy as a migrant from North Africa. An 85-year-old parishioner was barbarously beheaded while at prayer, and two others were stabbed to death. The perpetrator was shot and wounded by Nice police and placed in custody. There was an attempted murder by an 18-year-old Pakistani émigré bearing a machete near the former site of Charlie Hebdo editorial offices. Seven suspects have subsequently been detained by French police. These attacks spawned outcries in the Muslim ummah of “blasphemy” – criticism of Islamic doctrine and defamation of the image of the Prophet Mohammed - - and calls for boycotts of French goods and services by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey and the “massacres of millions of French” by aging Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohammed. In New York, the French consulate was the site of protests by local Imams of the actions of French President Macron to preserve the secular principles of free speech of the Republic. On the occasion of a pause of Israel News Talk Radio – Beyond the Matrix program, due to the medical condition of host Rod Reuven Bryant, he and producer and co-host Jerry Gordon reached out to interview Austrian free speech advocate and Islamic doctrine critic, Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff about the impact of the Islamist attack in Vienna. They had previously interviewed American ex-pat, writer, and author Nidra Poller on the background of the Islamist murder of French schoolteacher Samuel Paty. Gordon has known Ms. Sabaditsch -Wolff for over a decade and had interviewed her on various trials in both Austria and at the European Court of Human Rights over her criticism of Islamic doctrine. These are chronicled in her memoir, “The Truth is No Defense”, published by the New English Review press in 2019 and available on Amazon. Ms. Sabaditsch-Wolff’s views about free speech and criticism of Islamic doctrine stem from her experience as a child of an Austrian diplomat. She explains that when her father was held postings in New York and Chicago, as a junior high school student, where she learned about US Constitution guarantees of free speech, freedom of religious worship and criticism of religious doctrine. She learned firsthand the excesses of Islamist extremism when the family was posted to Iran during the 1979 Revolution and later working as a visa officer in Kuwait and Libya. On Sunday, October 18, 2020, tens of thousands of Parisians including French President Macron filled Place de la République protesting the grisly beheading of French schoolteacher, Samuel Paty by an 18-year-old Chechen refugee at the junior high school in a suburb. Thousands rallied in other major French cities. The Macron Government is taking this latest jihadist attack with seriousness and dispatch going after those Islamists who fomented a fatwa against the hapless late Professor Paty who displayed the Charlie Hebdo cartoons in his civic class as an example of freedom of speech. Those Charlie Hebdo Cartoons inflamed jihadists on January 7, 2015 to attack the former editorial offices killing 11; while another jihadist took hostages at a Kosher supermarket, killing four Jews. The Macron government and most French revere secular education and teachers are held in high esteem in the society. However, this time it appears that the French Interior Ministry and the counterterrorism prosecutors are going after those who are considered “accomplices after the fact” in the commission of this crime shutting down alleged French Muslim anti-Islamophobia civil rights groups and Mosques supporting Islamic separatism in France. Interior Minister Gérard Darmanin declared: “They launched a fatwa against him (Paty).” The father of a schoolgirl and his accomplice—a notorious anti- Zionist agitator, head of the Cheikh Yassin association—fomented revolt against the teacher, Samuel Paty, who showed Mohamed cartoons in a lesson on freedom of speech. Investigators have discovered that they communicated by phone with the 18-year-old Chechen refugee who beheaded the teacher in Conflans Ste. Honorine and was shot nd killed by French police. Turkey’s Erdogan, the presumptive leader of a Muslim Brotherhood alliance has declared a “boycott’ of France, a NATO partner saying that Macron needed his head examined for condoning caricatures of the prophet of Islam. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the French leader has “lost his way.” France announced it was recalling its ambassador for consultations. France’s Jews have responded by calling for solidarity with President Macron, who has called out rising anti-Semitism given the current trial of accomplices in the January 7, 2015 Charlie Hebdo “massacre" and disturbing testimony by surviving French Jewish hostages at the Hyper Casher Market. Jerry Gordon, a Senior Editor at the New English Review and Producer and co-host of Israel News Talk Radio – Beyond the Matrix reached out to Nidra Poller, American ex-pat in Paris, writer, translator, author, and journalist for her views. She has written extensively on Islamic Antisemitism, murders of French Jews over the past two decades. She was an early investigator in the Mohamed Al Dura “blood libel” propounded by Palestinian activities and leftist journalists against Israel that occurred in Gaza on September 30, 2000 at the start of the Second Intifada ,the subject of French trials she covered involving the France 2 TV news. See her book, "Al Dura: Long Range Ballistic Myth" (2014) . US Lease F-35s to Taiwan as Deterrent to China Threat to the Island Nation - Beyond the Matrix

The Telegraph reported that China has ramped up pressure on Taiwan with videos of a simulated major attack on the Island and an alleged “spying confession” of a Taiwanese businessman. Last Week during Taiwan’s National Day, President Tsai Ing-wen of the 24 million island nation had the temerity to “urge the Chinese Communist Party to engage in meaningful dialogue” on an equal basis. China has been making several demonstrations of force with its air force “crossing the Taiwan Straits” middle line. China has rejected any negotiations with Ms. Tsai’s Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) government was elected in 2016. China is even peevish toward the proposal of the Kuomintang opposition party the KMT in Taiwan that has proposed “independence” and renewal of relations with the US. The semi-official Global Post of the Chinese Communist Party noted: “Taiwan's "Legislative Yuan" on Tuesday passed two proposals from the KMT, which are to "request the US to help confront the CPC," and "for the Taiwan Island and the US to resume diplomatic ties," Taiwan local media reported. The KMT also called on the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to "work actively" on these two issues. Zhu Fenglian, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, responded by saying that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China, and both sides of the Taiwan Strait belonging to the same China is an unalterable historical and legal fact”. The Trump Administration further enraged the CCP by sending US Secretary for Health and Human Services Alex Azar, followed by Keith Krach, Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment to Taiwan. The RAND Corporation’s Derek Grossman, a senior defense analyst with the RAND Corporation and an expert in the region, said the approach went hand in hand with a strategy being referred to in the Pentagon as Fortress Taiwan. He told Express.co.uk: "For decades, the US has sought to bolster Taiwan’s defensive capabilities to prevent China from being able to successfully launch an amphibious invasion against the island, or to otherwise conduct military operations meant to harm it (such as a blockade or missile strikes)”. The question Grossman suggests is the “right mix. His suggestions; sea mines and anti-ship missiles. But Dr. Stephen Bryen, Former Deputy Undersecretary of Defense during the Reagan Era is someone who knows Taiwan’s has a better idea. In a Newsweek article he wrote of a suggestion he made at a lecture at Taiwan’s National Defense University in 2018: “I proposed having a standby force of F-35's in the U.S. that either would belong to Taiwan or be leased to Taiwan. That force would be available to respond to any retaliation by mainland China”. Bryen’s Newsweek article was immediately republished in Taiwan news outlets causing a flurry of attention. Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon brought back Dr. Bryen to discuss his proposals for Taiwan and his views on the current conflict in the South Caucasus between Azerbaijan and Armenia with regional ramifications involving Russia, Turkey, Israel, and Iran. The following are takeaways from the interview with Dr. Stephen Bryen. On deterrent value of US leasing F-35 to Taiwan. Beyond the Matrix 14OCT2020 - PODCAST

The Middle East is home to more than 35 million Kurds, whose nationalist aspirations have been thwarted for over 100 years. Now, an acclaimed battlefront reporter and analyst, British -Israeli, Jonathan Spyer has received notice from the US State Department that he is under a lifetime ban for entry to the US because of his support for the Kurds. His predicament denying his ability to travel to the US for policy forums, consultations and visits to family is truly Kafkaesque. Why is the US government carrying out the demands of Turkey’s Erdogan, a sworn enemy of Kurds against Spyer? Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon of Israel News Talk Radio – Beyond the Matrix reached out to Jonathan Spyer to answer this question and his assessment of Turkey’s threats to normalization of relations between the Arab middle east and Israel. Jonathan Spyer is a research fellow at the Jerusalem Institute for Strategic Studies (JISS), a fellow at the Middle East Forum and a freelance security analyst and correspondent at IHS Janes. Spyer is the Executive Director of the Middle East Center for Reporting and Analysis (MECRA). He is the author of Days of the Fall: A Reporter's Journey in the Syria and Iraq Wars (Routledge, 2017) - an account of his field reporting in Syria and Iraq, and The Transforming Fire: the Rise of the Israel-Islamist Conflict, (Continuum, 2010). Spyer's work is published in many journals, including the Jerusalem Post, Times of Israel, Foreign Policy and the Wall Street Journal. He consults and advises for a wide variety of bodies in the governmental, NGO and private sectors. The following are some takeaways from this Israel News Talk Radio- Beyond the Matrix with Jonathan Spyer. On why Erdogan’s Turkey might have been behind the ban issued by the US. Spyer cites as leading possible reason that the US State Department may have been influenced by Erdogan to ban his entry as a foreign nation. Spyer’s believes that Erdogan’s animus against him is due to his coverage of Kurdish nationalist interests and aspirations, especially in Syria and the Turkish dictator’s handling of domestic and foreign journalists. Spyer has nothing against the Turkish people having traveled and enjoyed his time there. It is Erdogan who has stolen the liberties of his people. He earnestly believes that the US travel ban will be rectified shortly with the assistance of informal appeals of “friends”. On why Erdogan’s Turkey is a danger to the Region. Spyer considers Erdogan’s Turkey as a major disruption in the Middle East fostering destabilization in the region undermining countries. He considers Erdogan’s threat second only to Iran. This is reflected in Turkish invasion of Western Iraq, the ethnic cleansing of the enclave of Kurdish enclave of Afrin in Western Syria and invasion of northeaster Syria Kurdish heartland establishing a so-called safe Zone. Erdogan is organizing Sunnis in Northwest Lebanon, he has threatened the triple alliance of Israel, Greece, and Cyprus in the Eastern Mediterranean offshore energy development thwarting building of a pipeline to Europe by arbitrarily declaring an Exclusive Economic Zone from Libya to Turkey. His alliance with Hamas and Gaza and activities in Jerusalem are a threat to Israel. Through the Turkish paramilitary contracting firm of SADAT International Defense Consultancy, Erdogan is spreading his version of Political Islam by recruiting Islamist mercenaries. SADAT is headed by his former military advisor retired Brig. Gen. Turkish General Adnan Tanriverdi. SADAT is akin to ‘green men’ of Russia’s Wagner Group and Iran’s Shiite mercenaries in Syria and Iraq. However, Speyer considers Erdogan at risk of marginalizing Turkey given that his actions have exacerbated relations with Italy, Greece, Cyprus, Israel, Jordan, and the Gulf Emirates, especially the UAE, through his espousal of the Muslim Brotherhood doctrine. Can Sudan normalize with the US and Israel? – a discussion with Gilad Liberman - Beyond the Matrix

Can Sudan normalize with the US and Israel? – a discussion with Gilad Liberman After the White House signing of separate normalization treaties on September 15th between Israel and the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, which Arab nation might be next. Prior to the ceremony on the White House back lawn, Secretary of State Pompeo made a flight to Khartoum from Jerusalem offering a similar deal, which led to a premature announcement of normalization with Israel by the spokesman of the Sudan Foreign Ministry and his immediate firing by the Foreign Minister. Subsequently, the US effort to normalize relations between Sudan and Israel appeared to have collapsed after meetings in Abu Dhabi last week. Both the Chairman of Transitional Military Council (TMC) General al Burhan, a former Bashir regime military leader, and Transitional Sovereignty Council PM Abdallah Hamdok the target of a recent assassination attempt by Bashir allies, rejected financial aid offers offered by the UAE and Israel of $800 million with a contribution of $10 million from Israel. They were seeking upwards of $4 billion in financial aid. The US suggested that a payment of $335 million might release Sudan from the $7.3 billion US court award in 2017 to US victims of Al Qaeda bombings of Embassies in both Kenya and Tanzania in 1998 and the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole in Yemen. US Senators and Members of Congress are calling for additional compensation for 9/11 victims. Sudan is desperate to be lifted from the 1993 US State Department listing as a State Sponsor of Terrorism. At the time Israel was concerned about Sudan’s filtering of weapons to terrorist group Hamas in Gaza. Israel’s air force in 2012 had made massive raids on Sudan underground missile factories made with Iranian cooperation. The issue the US and Israel must ponder is Sudan capable of transformation to a democratic civilian government when its military leaders were part of a Bashir cabal that perpetrated ethnic cleansing and genocidal crimes against indigenous peoples in Darfur, the Nuba Mountains and the Blue Nile region. Leaders of the notorious Rapid Support Janjaweed Militia, TMC Chairman Deputy Generals al Burham and Deputy Chair Gen Degallo (Hemeti) led Bashir’s forced Arabization in Darfur that continues long past the incarceration of long term Sudan President Bashir in April 2019. The toll in Darfur alone is over 600,000 killed, 5 million dispersed to insecure UNAMID internal displaced persons camps with several hundred thousand dispersed to UN Refugee Camps in neighboring Chad. Will Bashir be transferred to the International Criminal Court at the Hague to be prosecuted under the outstanding 2009 and 2010 indictments? Will former Bashir allies Generals al Burham and Degallo of the TMC deny the formation of a civilian government by 2022 by seizing power in a coup? Is Sudan capable of normalizing in such a fractured dangerously divisive state? For answers to these and other questions Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon reached out to Israeli Dr. Galid Liberman. Liberman has long been involved in matters concerning Eritrean and Sudan refugees in Israel and blogs on such matters for the Times of Israel. He holds a Phd in neurosciences from Bar Ilan University and is presently a research fellow in imagery at the Harvard Medical School. Beyond the Matrix 30SEP2020 - PODCAST

Israel – the Superpower behind the New Middle East - Beyond the Matrix

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 16, 2020 44:48

Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon bring back Dr. Stephen Bryen to discuss Israel’s emergence as the Middle East’s superpower enabling normalization with the Arab emirates and possibly Saudi Arabia. This comes as Israel signed the first Abraham Accords with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the White House brokered by the Trump Administration, changing the geo-political makeup of the region threatening Iran and sidelining the Palestinians. Now there are prospects that this agreement may be followed by others in the Gulf region, given announcements by Bahrain and Oman. The question is when will the Saudis join the process. Among the takeaways from this Israel News Talk Radio – Beyond the Matrix with Dr. Bryen are the following. Israel’s Pre-emptive nuclear power, air force and intelligence makes it the strong horse in the Middle East. Dr. Bryen suggests that this major regional normalization with Sunni Arabs in the Middle East happened because Israel is the only region nuclear power with an umbrella of pre-emptive weapon systems, both land and sea based. Moreover, it has a world class air force and first-rate intelligence capability. The latter is evident in the seizure of Iran’s nuclear development archives and speculation that it may have been behind the cyber -kinetic attacks this summer that have once again set back Iran’s nuclear weapons program. Dr. Bryen is a former Reagan era Deputy Undersecretary for Technology and Security, a noted military technologist who is a columnist for The Asia Times. Bryen revealed during the interview that as a Senior US Senate Foreign Relations staffer he wrote a strategic paper on normalization with Egypt in the mid-1970’s that involved discussions with Egyptian Generals who remarked “we did not need another war with Israel”. That resulted in the Begin - Sadat Camp David “cold peace” treaty with Egypt in 1979, followed by a similar one with Jordan in 1994. The 2020 Israel-UAE Accord is based on a “warm peace” with full commercial, trade and diplomatic exchanges. Israel’s Triad Nuclear Umbrella is Powerful Deterrent. Like major powers, Israel has a triad of nuclear pre-preemptive capabilities. It has the Jericho ICBM equipped with a nuclear warhead. Its fleet of F-15’s and F-16’s can deliver nuclear and conventional bombs. However, the F-35” I” versions do not fit a nuclear delivery mission profile. The Israeli fleet of German built Dolphin Class Submarines are equipped with conventional and nuclear torpedoes and cruise missiles, as well as swimming capabilities to launch intelligence gathering and naval commando operations. The Dolphin submarines, while diesel electric powered, use the Air Independent Propulsion system that can operate silently at great depths and like the US Trident nuclear missile boat “boomers” are difficult to detect. It is a hydrogen-based power module that allows the submarine to operate for a long term fully submerged. For a diesel electric they gain many of the virtues of a nuclear submarine at a fraction of the cost and are much safer to operate and cheaper to build. Thus, the triad of land based, air and submarine delivery of nuclear weapons is meant to address Israel’s “asymmetry problem”: the threat of nuclear missiles by an enemy could destroy 80 percent of the small country’s population. Thus, the Israeli Triad is based solely on a first strike pre-emptive capability. Dr. Bryen noted this was the lesson learned from the mistake made by Israel’s then PM Gold Meir and security cabinet prior to the October 1973 Yom Kippur War by not acting pre-emptively for fear of offending Washington. By acting pre-preemptively as it did during the June 1967 Six Days of War, “Israel could have saved lives”. Iran does not have nuclear capable long-range missiles, but the Abraham Accords includes a deterrent. Beyond the Matrix 16SEP2020 - PODCAST

Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant, and Jerry Gordon of Israel News Talk Radio – “Beyond the Matrix” bring back Dan Diker of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs (JCPA) to discuss two stunning developments that are game changers: Israel normalizing relations with the UAE and potentially other Arab states in the Gulf and the Balkan countries of Kosovo and Serbia. Diker is the director of the Political Warfare Program at the JCPA and former Secretary General of the World Jewish Congress. UAE Israel normalization sidelines years of Palestinian rejectionism in the Middle East peace process. Diker noted that the announcement of normalization of relations between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Israel brokered by the Trump Administration upends the Palestinian propaganda machine that has “defamed, dehumanized and delegitimized the Jewish nation state with virulent anti-Semitism.” Diker suggested that today regional peace is now possible with the Arab gulf states with the likelihood that additional normalization agreements may soon become reality with Middle Eastern states such as Bahrain, Oman, Morocco and perhaps Saudi Arabia. Diker noted the granting of air rights by Saudi Arabia through the UAE for travel stopovers to the East, and for the recent transit of U.S. and Israeli delegations to Abu Dhabi. Moreover, recent statements by the Imam of the Grand Mosque appear to welcome these normalization developments. Beyond the Matrix 09SEP2020 - PODCAST

Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon of Israel News Talk Radio – Beyond the Matrix bring back Kenneth L. Hanson, author of “Whose Holy Land? Archaeology Meets Geopolitics in Today’s Middle East. They discuss recent archaeological finds amidst the historic Israel-UAE Abraham Accord normalizing relations in hopefully, a warm peace. Which might lead to similar agreements with other Gulf Arab States and Kingdoms. However, the question is was it worth the price of “suspending” sovereignty over hundreds of ancient archaeological sites confirming millennia of Jewish presence in the Holy Land? Dr. Hanson is an Associate Professor in the Judaic Studies Department of the university of Central Florida in Orlando. Here are takeaways from the Israel News Talk Radio – Beyond the Matrix interview with Dr. Hanson. On the Historic Abraham Accord between Israel and the UAE. Rod Bryant noted how archaeology “dovetails” the geopolitics of the historic Abraham Accord between Israel and the UAE. Dr. Hanson said the flight from Tel Avi to Abu Dhabi to seal the Accord represented the first “warm peace” in 25 years since the 1994 “cold peace” with the Kingdom of Jordan and the similar cold 1979 Camp David agreement with Egypt. It might lead to similar agreements with other Gulf States like Bahrain, Oman, possibly Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries. Hanson said, it recognizes the overarching “civilizational threat” of a nuclear Iran intent on developing an ICBM capable of reaching the “great Satan”, the US. It already has weapons capable of reaching Israel and even targets in Europe. Hanson noted that President Trump “tore up the pathetic agreement” that fostered Iran’s global terrorism threat. He contends that the Gulf Arab Emirates considered “Israel, a solid partner to counter the Iran Threat”. They also recognize Israel as a “high tech dynamo” with its six desalination plants on the Mediterranean capable of producing fresh water and drip irrigation fostering agricultural production. Gordon noted the UAE Sovereign Wealth Fund might be a contender for replacing China in investing in Israeli tech “startups”. Beyond the Matrix 02SEP2020 - PODCAST

Rod Bryant and Jerry Gordon bring back Dr. Stephen Bryen to discuss the latest on what triggered Beirut blast, Iran’s Mahan Air terror flights, the important successful recent test of the Arrow -2 system against Iran Nuclear warhead missile threat, Israel laser tech countering Hamas explosive balloon and kite threat to infrastructure in south, and the historic UAE Israel Abraham Accords. Dr. Bryen is a former Reagan Era Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Technology and Security, noted military technologist and widely published Asia Times columnist. Exploding Rocket Motors in Beirut Port Blast. Bryen cited the three series of blasts that destroyed the Beirut Port and caused extensive damage and displacement, deaths, and injuries of Lebanese people. The rocket motors may have been underground in the network of tunnels under the port and connected to Beirut airport. This he pointed out were revealed in six seismic signatures. The red plume of the explosion is indicative of rocket fuel oxidizers. The third component was the ammonia nitrate. Bryen noted Russian ad other reports that there may not have been over 2,700 tons, but perhaps less than 600 tons involved. The rest have been used for other purposes including IED terror attacks. Normally the explosive ammonia nitrate has a shelf life of less than six months. Bryen disputes Lebanese Army reports of sewers being uncovered not tunnels. However, he noted that Israel has reported since 2018 Hezbollah tunneling creating missile workshops in the Beirut Port. Texas City 1947 Explosion and 1995 Oklahoma City Terror Bombing involving Ammonia Nitrate. Bryant raised the 1947 Texas City, Texas blast of 2,300 tons of Ammonia nitrate that in turn ignited oil storage tanks was triggered by a fire aboard a French ship was being loaded. The blast that killed over 581, injuring more than 8, 400 and could be heard for 100 miles. Bryen cited similar ammonia nitrate blasts in France but also the use in terrorist attacks. The lost notable being the 1995 Oklahoma City Federal Alfred P. Murrah Building truck bombing that killed 168, Injuring hundreds. That largest US terrorist attack before 9/11 used hundreds of pounds of ammonia nitrate in a shaped charge, mixed with racing fuel oil. Iran’s Mahan Air Terror Flights in Beirut and Syria. The discussion of Iran’s Mahan Air flights engaged in supply of precision missile components to Hezbollah tunnel workshops via the adjacent Beirut Airport was raised. Bryen noted the recent provocative Mahan Air overflights of the US Al-Tanf base in Syria suspected of engaging in aerial photo reconnaissance in violation of the deconfliction agreement with Russia that maintains a 55-mile radius. He noted the dispatch of two US F-15s from the Jordanian airbase at Al Azraq and the evasive actions of the Mahan Air A-320 airbus. Significance of Israeli Arrow 2 Block 5 tests against Iranian nuclear missile threat. Bryen drew attention to the significance of the recent test of the upgraded Israeli Arrow 2 Block 5 missile defense system that began development in 1982. The longer range strategic exo-atmospheric Arrow 3 system was successfully tested in Alaska in 2019. The Arrow 2, which also has exo-atmospheric capabilities provides more tactical layer of defense against Iran’s nuclear warhead equipped missiles under development. The test involved use of the Israel Green Pine that support the Arrow Missile systems and US TPY2 radar systems – the latter used for the US THAAD system deployed in Saudi Arabia. We end with a discussion on a new fast-paced fictional work by Timmerman, "The Election Heist". It features a scenario based on his experience as a 2012 Congressional candidate in Maryland’s 8th Congressional District and eight years of his research into electronic and paper ballot electoral insecurity. On the “historic” blast in Beirut. Timmerman notes that the blast of over 2,750 tons of explosive grade ammonia nitrate stored in Beirut port since 2013 was the largest non-nuclear explosion in history. It was ten times greater than the 1983 US Marines and French Paratroops blasts in Beirut that killed over 300, injuring hundreds that was perpetrated by Hezbollah global terrorist Imad Mughniyeh. It was 1/15th the size of the nuclear bomb exploded over Hiroshima in August 1945 estimated at 20 tons. He accuses Iran and Hezbollah of involvement in triggering the blast. He points out Hezbollah leader’s brother-in-law in control of the port who was not detained, while the hapless senior port official was. Timmerman accuses Hezbollah of siphoning off 3 tons of the ammonia nitrate from the impounded Russian oligarch-owned ship MV Rhosus cargo that was found in the UK. Then there was the 2 tons uncovered in Germany, that led to listing of Hezbollah as a terrorist organization. Some of the supply of ammonia nitrate may have provided explosives for IEDs used in terror attacks in Syria and Iraq. Timmerman notes the comments by ex-Pentagon national security and Middle East expert, David Wurmser in a Center for Security Policy report drawing attention to three explosions including fireworks and possible rocket motor propellant. Timmerman spoke of intelligence community contacts who called the Hezbollah bombers “bozos” for inserting detonators. Beyond the Matrix 12AUG2020 - PODCAST

Rod Reuven Dovid Bryen and Jerry Gordon bring back Dan Diker, Senior Fellow and Director of the Program to Counter Political Warfare at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs (JCPA). Diker authored a recent JCPA brief, “The Alignment of BDS and Black Lives Matter: Implications for Israel and Diaspora Jewry”. Diker also appeared on a recent Jewish Broadcasting Service discussion program moderated by Rabbi Marc Golub with Joshua Washington, the young American Assistant Director of the Institute for Black Solidarity for Israel that promotes the pro-Zionist legacy of the late revered American civil rights leaders, Dr. Martin Luther King and Rev. Ralph Abernathy. American Jews, as Diker notes, had fought for Black civil rights as abolitionists in the 19th Century and the 1960’s culminating in the historic passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act under President Johnson. American Jews have actively and publicly opposed racism and police brutality. Diker’s JCPA brief exposed the disturbing trends converging between BLM and BDS that he suggests had its origins in the 2014 Iranian regime backed Hamas rocket and terror tunnel war against Israel. The rise of BLM was triggered by the killings of Black young men Trayvon Martin in Florida in 2012 and Michael Brown in 2014 in Ferguson. Missouri. Recently, the BLM campaign was “turbo-charged” by the murder on May 25, 2020 of George Floyd while in the custody of a Minneapolis Police Officer sparking daily protests and violence that quickly spread across the US. The Movement for Black Lives (MBL) A BLM Network member organization, has openly accused Israel of being a racist Apartheid state. It connected Israel’s “occupation” in Gaza and the Palestinian Authority meme that the Jewish nation was “born in sin” with US state racism, imperialism, and fascism. Minister Louis Farrakhan, a spiritual guide and role model for BLM activists and sympathizers, has labeled Jews “Satan”. MBL’s radical solution is to “take down” the US government, while defunding and dismantling police departments across the United States. Diker noted the launch of a petition by University of California Students accusing Israel of “complicity’ in the murder of George Floyd due to US law enforcement agencies’ participation in a 2012 program in Israel on counterterrorism intelligence sharing. Diker suggests that these accusations are completely unfounded. Moreover, BDS and Palestinian activist rhetoric accusing Israel of imperialism and colonialism is straight out of the Marxist-Leninist playbook. In fact, Israel is a result of Zionist de-colonialization, resettling the Jewish homeland after the fall of the 400-year Ottoman empire. He pointed to a recent article in the Cambridge Journal of Race Ethnicity of Politics, “What Kind of Movement is Black Lives Matter? The view from twitter”. Diker commented: This superb research on BLM reveals that the movement rejects the “politics of respectability” of Martin Luther King and the Civil Rights Movement”. This is dangerous for the Palestinian issue as it rejects inclusion, and instead advocates a political replacement theology. Diker endorsed the work of Joshua Washington of the Institute for Black Solidarity for Israel, the son of Pastor Dumasani Washington, a California pastor, and a leading figure in the organization Christians United for Israel. Washington is also a next generation acolyte of Dr. King, a proud supporter of Israel and Zionism until his tragic assassination in 1968. Beyond the Matrix 05AUG2020 - PODCAST

Turkey is bombing Christians, Yazidis, and Kurds in the northwest Iraq autonomous region. A Turkish drone strike in the Sulaymaniyah Province killed three civilians. A bomb dropped in the attack landed in a resort near three children and parents in a river. Erdogan says he is “only attacking PKK bases” in the Kurdish autonomous region. Turkish forces occupy 60 villages in the Kurdish autonomous region of Iraq. The reality is Erdogan is attacking civilians pursuing a plan to annex areas that Turkey held during the Ottoman Empire. “Turkey is today’s Nazi Germany. Erdogan believes that a Good Kurd is a Dead Kurd”, says Diliman Abdulkader, co-founder and chief spokesperson for American Friends of Kurdistan. Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon of Israel News Talk Radio – Beyond the Matrix brought back Abdulkader, who was born in Kirkuk, a disputed territory in northern Iraq, and with his family spent several years in the UN Al-Hol refugee camp before being resettled in the US. $1.6 Trillion of Chinese Debt held by Americans could stimulate economy - Beyond the Matrix

here is a burgeoning economic cold war between China and the US during the COVID-19 Pandemic. It is triggered by accusations of a coverup of the breakout of deadly virus with over 90,000 fatalities and massive negative economic impacts on employment and growth. Then there are accusations of theft of an estimated $6 trillion dollars of US Intellectual Property rights by the Xi-Ping Communist regime in Beijing. There are proposals for sanctions and possible suits for damages in proposed legislation introduced by US Senators Rand Paul and Lindsey Graham. They will likely come a cropper because of US courts granting sovereign immunity to China. But there is a more practical solution; the swap of a century old gold backed bonds of the Republic of China that defaulted in 1938, valued at $1.6 trillion dollars, for a like amount of US debt held by China. The payoff could be billions of stimulus to the US economy at virtually no cost and a reduction in our national debt. This proposal is the work of a determined horse breeder and cattle rancher from middle Tennessee Ms. Jonna Bianco, founder of the American Bondholders Foundation (ABF) in August 2001. It all started when she was approached by a US holder of these Republic of China bonds regarding a venture, she was interested in. When she approached the US Department of The Treasury, she was told that they were genuine sovereign debt, but that China rejected the obligation as a successor regime in 1949 to pay off the debt. Over nearly two decades, working with the Bush, Obama and now Trump Administrations Ms. Bianco has built an inventory of these legacy bonds from 20,000 Americans in 46 states, testified several times before Congress that in turn passed resolutions supporting the debt swap proposal. She briefed President Trump who told her, “the US pays its obligations and so should China”. Ms. Bianco is channeling the late UK Prime Minister Dame Margaret Thatcher, who forced the Chinese government in 1987 to buy these defaulted ROC bonds, as a quid pro quo for accessing the global financial market in the City of London- the Wall Street of the UK. We have taken to calling her, the American equivalent of “the Iron Lady’, Margaret Thatcher. US citizens are not alone in this quest to make China pay for these legitimate debt obligations as the successor government. Ms. Bianco points out citizens of France, Belgium, Italy and even Israel hold these China legacy bonds. Some of these groups have official standing from their governments, who have filed objections to China’s rejection of these legacy bonds with the WTO. Now with President Trump backing the China US debt swap, justice might be at hand. It is in large measure due to the groundwork of this determined woman who founded the American Bondholders Foundation, Ms. Jonna Bianco. Listen to this engrossing interview with Jonna Bianco of the ABF by Rod Reuven Bryant and Jerry Gordon of Israel News Talk Radio – Beyond the Matrix and share it widely. He was called “Lampshade” for criticizing the lurid anti-Semitic paintings of Italian Catholic painter Giovanni Gasparro. In a painting produced recently, at the end of 2019 and beginning of 2020, Gasparro depicted the fraudulent “blood libel” ritual murder of Christian baby Simon of Trent that triggered the 1475 murder of 15 Jews. He posted images of his work on the internet during the Coronavirus Pandemic of 2020. The target of this internet attack was Dexter Van Zile, Shillman Research Fellow for Boston-based Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting and Analysis (CAMERA). From this vantage point, Van Zile defends the Jewish people and their homeland from defamation. His message is a simple one: “When you falsely depict Israel as a genocidal nation and an enemy of human rights, you demonize Jews as a genocidal and marauding people, who are threats to the societies in which they live. Demonizing Israel legitimizes violence against Jews no matter where they live.” Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon of Israel News Talk Radio Beyond the Matrix brought back Van Zile. The Coronavirus Pandemic has upset normal life, isolating and unnerving literally hundreds of millions in more than 192 countries. More than 378,342 cases of the COVID-19 virus have occurred with more than 16,872 fatalities. The epicenter has moved from Italy, Spain, France and the UK to the US. The latter with more than 52,215 cases of coronavirus confirmed by lab tests and 675 deaths. New York has become the hot spot with 25,665 of the US COVID-19 cases. 8 US States are under home stay lock-down covering more than one third of the country’s population. India has declared a lock-down for its 1.8 billion population. Israel has 1,442 cases with 3 fatalities, and possible exposures of up to one million. Rod Bryant and Jerry Gordon reached out to discuss these issues with Tevi Troy, Presidential historian, former US Deputy Secretary of Health and Human Services, member of a Presidential bipartisan ‘blue ribbon’ panel on Bioterror who was Bush 43 White House aide. His brother Gil Troy is a noted historian who has authored over 10 books and is a columnist for The Jerusalem Post. His brother Dan Troy is a lawyer and former Chief Counsel at the FDA, an expert in health law and food and drug policies. In his 2016 “Shall We Wake the President” Troy predicted the conundrum we currently face with the coronavirus threat. “I was raising this issue of coronavirus and I said, we have vaccines and countermeasures and antivirals for flu, but we do not have them for coronavirus, and we need to develop them. I don't know why the US government hasn't moved faster on that. I think that there are larger issues at play in terms of prioritizing development of countermeasures”. They discuss with Diker the apparent Netanyahu victory in the third election in a year in Israel, the rising Israeli Arab quest for normalization in the Jewish state and a new book on Israelphobia and the West published by the JCPA that has caught a wave of attention in Washington, Jerusalem. Alan Dershowitz who participated in a roundtable discussion before an audience of 250 at the JCPA remarked that he considered Israelphobia and the West as the bible on combatting the new antisemitism of Israel as the Jewish state and the return of violence against individual Jews, that occurred in Pittsburgh, Poway, Jersey City and Monsey, New York in the US. Violence against Jews not seen since the Holocaust that took the lives of Six Million European Jews. While the results of Israel’s third election will not be available until early next week, nonetheless, it appears that with 95 percent of the vote tallied that Likud has 36 mandates versus the Blue White alliance’s 32. The Likud led right bloc composed of Shas, Agudath, other religious parties and Yamina are within striking distance of forming a possible ruling coalition with 59 mandates or seats in the Knesset. The Final tally may show perhaps another 3 to 4 Knesset seats from 100,000 votes remaining to be counted. That would cement formation of a Netanyahu ruling coalition in an unprecedented fifth term as Prime Minister. Diker note that the voter turnout was the highest since 1999. Diker attributes that result to intensive campaigning in predominating Likud base areas. That was facilitated by use of an Israeli software system Elexor that identified low Likud base turnout in previous elections and sent text messages to cell phones urging voting turnout. Should President Rivlin grant PM Netanyahu the right to form a new ruling Knesset, that would effectively dent the reputation of Avigdor Liberman and his right wing secular Yisrael Beiteinu party as ‘kingmaker’. Liberman, the former foreign and defense minister in previous Netanyahu governments scored only 7 mandates in this election. Beyond the Matrix 04MAR2020 - PODCAST

The umbrella world body was founded in 1948 with the mission of unifying Christian witness. However, with conflicting theologies, the only thing that it shares is political defamation of the Jewish state of Israel thus providing cover for the Palestinian Authority opposing efforts at normalization. Instead, the WCC supports the blood libel actions of clerics like Archbishop Attallah Hanna, the Head of the Sebastia Diocese of the Greek Orthodox Church in Jerusalem condemned by the Israeli Foreign Ministry and the International Committee for Interreligious Consultations. Then there is South African theologian Jerry Pillay who is running for election as the WCC leader who accuses Israel of being an apartheid state. General Secretary Fykse Tveit of the WCC has joined forces with anti-Israel Churches for Middle East Peace condemning the Trump “Peace through Prosperity Plan”. The WCC views the Peace plan as the equivalent of an act of war against the Palestinians. Thus, providing cover to corrupt Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas to avoid engaging in bi-lateral negotiations persisting in holding out to occupy the space between the “river and the sea” by espousing incitement to hatred and funding terrorism. According to Van Zile, the PA relies on the WCC to promote hostility and agitation towards Israel. The Palestinians believe the WCC has access to the international media to further their agenda of incitement to hate and terrorism. Beyond the Matrix 19FEB2020 - PODCAST

On the evening of January 7, 2020, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards launched more than a dozen short range ballistic missiles from Iran that hit US coalition bases at Al – Sad and Irbil in Western and Northern Iraq. There were initial unconfirmed reports of possible casualties. Early warning of the attack may have sent both Iraqis, US and other coalition military personnel to safety in bunkers. Was this the threatened “hard revenge” that Iran’s Revolutionary Guards had warned would come against US military bases? This Iranian missile attack was response to the US MQ9 Drone missile strike at Baghdad Airport on January 3, 2020 that killed General Qasem Soleimani, the powerful commander of the elite Quds Force and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis Commander of Iran – controlled Iraqi PMF Kata'ib Hezbollah. Rod Reuven Bryant and Jerry Gordon interview Ken Timmerman, veteran Iran watcher and New York Times best-selling author fresh back from Tbilisi, Georgia with a tale of Iran’s Islamic Regime brutality and deception. Timmerman reveals in this interview the latest attempt by Iran to cover up the Islamic Regime’s 9/11 Al Qaeda links. The Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Gakharia admitted on national television that, when he was Interior Minister, he launched in February 2018 a sting operation, at the request of Iran, against Iran Intelligence defector Alireza Soleimanpak. Soleimanpak provided an ‘Earth shattering” affidavit in the US Federal Court 2011 9/11 on Al Qaeda Iran links. Soleimanpak revealed “direct contact between Iran and Al Qaeda; and act of state-sponsored terrorism”. Timmerman cited recent Iranian terror operations by Iran against defectors foiled in the Netherlands, Germany and Sweden. Soleimanpak left Germany in 2018 where he had lived since 2002, trying to free his brother imprisoned in the notorious Evin prison in Tehran. He was motivated to free his brother on a prison furlough following the imprisonment, torture and death after release of Soleimanpak’s sister in 2016. Soleimanpak was arrested in 2018 imprisoned and tortured by Georgian internal security personnel under trumped up charges that he was planning to murder two Iranians. The Iranian Ambassador in Georgia wrote a letter offering Soleimanpak with an offer of $5 million and a Georgian passport if the latter would recant his testimony in the 9/11 Links case. Soleimanipak refused. Soleimanpak’s brother was subsequently murdered by Iranian security personnel. Timmerman notes that Soleimanpak has been detained for 18 months, seven of which were in solitary confinement. Most recently, he has been on a hunger strike. Timmerman considers Moscow educated Georgian PM Gakharia, an Iran “stooge”. Timmerman was the lead investigator for plaintiffs in the 2011 New York Southern District Federal Court landmark “9/11-Iran links” case: Fiona Havlish et al., v. Sheik Usamah bin-Muhammad bin-Laden et al. The case was brought on behalf of Ms. Havlish’s husband who was lost on the 101st floor of a World Trade Center tower on September 11, 2001. Other 9/11 victims’ surviving families and loved ones were included as co-plaintiffs. The New York Southern District Federal Court judge in the 9/11-Links case handed down upwards of $10 billion in two awards made to the certified class of 9/11 claimants in 2012 and 2015. In May 2018, a default judgment was entered by the New York Federal Court Judge in the Havlish et. al. case under a 2016 Supreme Court ruling against Iran which was not contested. The total of court awards is more than $10 billion. Both the Kenneth Timmerman evidentiary affidavits filed in Havlish et.al. New York Federal court trial and the Bin Laden files released in November 2017 by then CIA Director Mike Pompeo, now Secretary of State, attest to the extensive links between Tehran and the perpetrators of 9/11. According to Timmerman Soleimanpak’s 9/11 Links affidavit showed that Iran gave direct material assistance to the 9/11 Saudi perpetrators. Iran provided the simulator for on training of the 9/11 perpetrators on Boeing 747, 757, 767 aircraft. Timmerman noted that the 9/11 Commission did not report about Iran Boeing aircraft simulator training for Al Qaeda perpetrators who received flight training on small aircraft in the US. Soleimanpak’s affidavit revealed a visit by Sa’ad bin Laden in January 2001. Al Qaeda Number 2 Ayman al- Zawahiri met with Ayatollah Khamenei in May 2001 in Tehran. The EU is backing the Triple Alliance of Israel, Cyprus and Greece by underwriting the $20 billion East Med submarine gas pipeline that avoids passing through Turkey. It would provide the EU with an alternative source of natural gas to Russia’s Nordstream pipeline in the Baltic Sea feeding Germany and the Russian-backed Turkish Stream pipeline. Even Erdogan’s claim to Libya’s offshore energy resources may be for naught as the UN – backed Islamic government may be in imminent collapse given advances by the forces of Field Marshall Haftar’s Libyan National Army backed by Russia. Then there are Erdogan’s threats to eject NATO from Incirlik with 60 over aging nuclear weapons. Dr. Bryen contends those weapons serve no useful purpose, as there are no aircraft that can use them. The real danger is the plutonium in the nuclear cores that Erdogan could use to develop his own nuclear weapons. The White House and the Pentagon are stymied on how to retain Turkey in NATO, given Turkey’s purchase of Russian S-400 air defense systems and imminent industrial deal with Russia to co-produce either SU-35’s or SU 57’s. The US Congress in anger about Turkey’s dalliance with Russia, incursion in northeastern Syria, land grab in Iraq and support for Palestinian terror group Hamas in Gaza has passed a resolution condemning Turkey’s role in the Armenian Genocide during and after WWI, what Dr. Bryen called “an historic fact”. With impeachment of President Trump looming, the Administration’s attempt to keep Turkey in NATO, according to Dr. Bryen is not going well. On the matter of whether the US and Israel are confronting Iran internally and in riot plagued Lebanon and Iraq, as well as Syria, Dr. Bryen said the US is not doing enough. He noted the recent insertion of armored vehicles in Iraq endeavoring to suppress violent protests against the Iraqi government and Iranian Sh’ia proxies. Iran’s objectives Bryen contends are “to control Iraq, Syria and Lebanon and make war on Israel”. The only bright exception was US Secretary of State Pompeo announcement giving encrypted communications support for domestic opposition in Iran. Despite the political stalemate in Israel, the IDF carried out raids in Syria effectively taking out the IRGC headquarters there. On President Trump’s announcement of withdrawing 4,000 troops from Afghanistan Bryen suggests it amounts to declaring victory in the 19-year war with the possibility of collapse of the government there and likely return of the Islamist Taliban. Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon interview Dexter Van Zile, Christian Media Analyst of Boston-based Committee for Accuracy for Middle East Reporting and Analysis (CAMERA). Van Zile gave the latest update on extremist Christian and sinister academic groups fostering anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism - “the likes of which we haven’t seen since Father Coughlin of the 1930’s and Henry Ford.” Top of the list is TruNews, a Vero Beach, Florida church with an antisemitic news podcast and YouTube Channel. Van Zile found TruNews principals Rick Wiles, Ed Zsall and Doc Burkhart at a Christ at the Checkpoint Conference {CATC) in Bethlehem in May 2018, a pro-Palestinian Christian “peace” group that endeavors to dissuade Evangelicals from supporting Israel. He found them splicing their anti-Semitic hate into video productions of the CATC. During TruNews reports, Rick Wiles declared that Israeli Jewish rabbis are “just like Judas … looking for a political savior who will rule a political kingdom on earth, a super race that will dominate the planet. That’s really what Zionism is all about.” He also said that “Kabbalah is voodoo that Jews do” and that “If Jesus himself walked the streets of Jerusalem again, they would crucify him again. They would crucify him. They would release Barabbas and they would crucify him. Nothing has changed.” TruNews called the Impeachment Inquiry against President Trump, a “Jew Coup” intent on putting a Jewish cabal in power. It accused Trump of being a secret convert to Judaism and declared that the anti-Christ will appear as a Jewish homosexual. Despite all this, TruNews’ Ed Zsall showed up at White Press conference asking Trump a question about the “Deal of the Century” peace plan. Moreover, he showed up at an economic forum in Japan again asking President Trump questions. TruNews is not a member of the White House Press Corps, but they were given the run of the place at the Christ at the Checkpoint Conference organized by Bethlehem Bible College. Prior to that, they attended an International Security Conference in Moscow and a NATO conference in London. Van Zile noted that the Bethlehem Bible College that sponsors the Christ at the Checkpoint Conference at their Oklahoma Conference in 2018 may have crossed over to the dark side by engaging in Anti-Israel invective touting as a Jewish cabal in a picture of President Trump’s advisers. As Van Zile said, this amounts to saying that it is “now cool to be anti-Israel’ i.e., Anti-Semitic. The Bethlehem Bible College, which has a US NGO that raises funds here, didn’t respond to Van Zile’s concerns. In effect it is promoting anti-Israel doctrine in the US. Christians, as he points out, have little standing in the Muslim-majority Palestinian society. The Palestinian Authority rewards the College for its hostility towards Jews and its connections to US Church sponsors. Van Zile discussed his own involvement lodging a complaint with the Chancellor of the University of Massachusetts over anti-Israel counter-factual documentaries produced by head of the Communications Department, Professor Sut Jhally. Jhally declared at a Beirut conference that college classrooms provide a captive audience to spread anti-Israel doctrine. As Van Zale pointed out Jhally rigs his examinations in such a way as to produce grades for affirming Jhally’s anti-Israel doctrine. Van Zile, who has a daughter in college, asserts that Jhally uses his position to deprive students at UMASS of a liberal education. This is an outrage, Van Zile asserts, particularly since the annual cost for in-state students to attend UMASS is $30,000 and that taxpayers in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts spend $361 million a year to support such an institution. Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon in Israel News Talk Radio – Beyond the Matrix interviews in November focused on the threat of the Islamic Republic to Israel and other US allies in the Middle East. Violent domestic protests erupted in Iran, Iraq and Lebanon over Iran and proxies’ hegemonic goals, government corruption and populations’ quest for freedom. Dan Diker of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs cited Iranian protester cries in Farsi of “No Lebanon, No Palestine, No foreign wars.” Diker noted the prediction of the late Uri Lubrani, the last Israeli Ambassador to Iran, “that popular discontent would lead to regime change rather than an external attack.” He noted that the Iranian people are fundamentally democratic and opposed to living under an Islamic terrorist supporting regime. Diker cited a US former official suggesting that it might cost less than $100 million to foster regime change in Iran; a lot less expensive than a full-throated kinetic war. That was reinforced in our interview with Ken Timmerman, who knew Lubrani personally and had worked with him on a plan for Iran regime change. Timmerman, a veteran Iran Democracy advocate, had proposed a comprehensive program estimated at $300 million. Timmerman drew attention to the action of US Secretary of State Pompeo during the peak of the latest Iranian protests, triggered by a spike in gasoline prices and rationing, enabling the rebroadcast of more than 20,000 email, text messages and videos by encrypted messaging services like Telegraph. A Wall Street Journal (WSJ) report cited Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli who said, “that as many as 200,000 people participated in the protests in more than 100 cities across Iran, which damaged 50 police stations, 70 gas stations and more than 700 banks across the country”. Estimates of the dead, currently at 200 and rising are vastly understated. The WSJ report focused on the Islamic Regime forcing families to pay $8,000 for retrieval of dead protesters disguising them as deceased Security personnel. The Islamic regime reported “arresting 7,000, 200 suspected ‘ringleaders’ and 8 alleged CIA agents.” Iran appeared to be reeling under the effects of the Trump economic sanctions, as its hard currency reserves were rapidly shrinking and income from oil smuggling was dwindling. In Iraq, hundreds of protesters have been killed, Iranian consulates have been burned forcing the Prime Minister’s resignation. The nefarious head of Iran’s Qud’s Force, General Qassem Soleimani has once again appeared in Baghdad endeavoring to suppress this uprising against the Iraqi central government and Iranian-controlled militias. A secret Iran Intelligence file revealed the depths of infiltration into Iraqi government. The threat of tribal warfare in Iraq against Iran-controlled militias may be in the offing. There was a phone call between President Trump and embattled Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, the latter unable to form a ruling coalition government while facing a trial on bribery and corruption indictments. The call was about dealing with the Iran threats. Netanyahu will be leaving shortly to confer about these Iran threats with Secretary of State Pompeo in Portugal. Acting Israeli Defense Minister Naftali Bennett said that Israel was in a battle with Iran that necessitated unleashing more attacks in neighboring Syria, attacking launching sites for precision cruise missiles and drones in Yemen, Lebanon and Gaza. An Iranian IRGC general boasted of having missiles that targeted 21 US bases in the region. Beyond the Matrix 04DEC2019 - PODCAST

Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon interviewed veteran Iran-watcher, best-selling author and investigative journalist Ken Timmerman to address the recent violent protests in Iran, Iraq and Lebanon directed at the Islamic Republic of Iran. Then there are the problematic relationships between President Trump and Turkey’s Islamist President Erdogan and Russia’s Putin Along the way we learn of Timmerman personal association with the last Israeli Ambassador to Iran, the late Uri Lubrani and Lebanon’s Christian President Michel Aoum, the latter who sold out to Hezbollah and Iran. Timmerman had worked with Lubrani and Israeli Intelligence to develop a plan to foster an internal insurrection in Iran to oust the country’s Shi’ite Supremacist mullahcracy. The problem was organization inside Iran and communications. Dan Diker who we recently interviewed referenced a former US official who estimated it might cost upwards of $150 million to do that. Timmerman and Lubrani had proposed a program of $300 million to achieve that objective. The two and a half weeks of violent protests and suppression by the IRGC and paramilitaries may have killed 400, injured 4,000 and detained hundreds, while shutting down the internet for over 113 hours. Timmerman noted Secretary of State Pompeo’s recent news conference in which US information services rebroadcast over 20,00 notes, email, tweets and videos – the first time the US government has done that. Timmerman believes that fostering and organizing internal revolt among Iranian opposition is a vastly cheaper alternative to a ‘full throated kinetic war”. Timmerman notes that President Trump has no desire to enmesh the US in another Middle East War. It is clear he believes that the Iranian people are fed up billions diverted for foreign adventures and corruption, while the economy is being crushed by the Trump “maximum Pressure campaign of sanctions”. The flash point for the recent wave of protests across Iran was a 50% increase in gas prices and rationing. President Trump’s pullout of US Troops from northeastern Syria abandoning Kurdish allies of the Syrian Democratic Force triggered the October 9th incursion by Erdogan’s Turkish military and Jihadis, Syrian National Army composed of Al Nusrah and former ISIS fighters. Timmerman cited the evidence of war crimes committed against Kurds, Christians and other minorities. The Turkish and Jihadist proxies have forced out over 200,00 from their homes, killing and raping women imposing sharia law. He connected this to the recent US House sanctions against Erdogan’s incursion creating a 120-kilometer-long by 30-kilometer-deep Orwellian “safe zone” with 1915 Armenian Genocide Resolution Congressional Resolution. Timmerman believes this stems from a deeply anti-Christian historical ethnic cleansing by Turkish regimes in the 19th to 21st Centuries against Armenians, Syriac Orthodox, Assyrians and now Kurds and Yazidis. He contends that Erdogan is a force for evil. Timmerman is perplexed as to why President Trump has a blind spot for both Erdogan and Russian President Putin. He noted that Trump’s sending a US armored force into eastern Syria’s Deir Ezzor province to protect oil wells from a resurgent ISIS and the Assad Regime backed by Russia was transactional to provide funds to support Kurdish – led SDF operations against encroachment by Iran. He noted that Erdogan and his family benefitted financially from brokering sales of oil from these same wells previously controlled by ISIS. Timmerman, while suggesting that Putin is not a friend of the US may be useful in its role in the Middle East policing these conflict areas. Timmerman referred to the recent release of 700 documents by Iran’s MIOS intelligence that demonstrated the overarching control of Iraq by Iran, now in turmoil of violent protests over Iranian influence, corruption, high unemployment. Will Legality of Israeli Settlements cause instability in the Middle East? - Beyond the Matrix

Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon interview Dan Diker, Director of the Program to Counter Political Warfare at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs. The occasion was the stunning policy ruling by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo that Israeli settlements in the disputed territories of Judea and Samaria, aka the West Bank, were legal. The Secretary’s ruling was based on studies by international legal experts and scholars sponsored by the US State Department. This policy ruling occurred on the cusp of the EU issuing an anti-Semitic BDS labelling requirement on Israeli products produced in the disputed territories of Judea and Samaria. Overall the reaction was positive in the Israeli body polity, according to Dan Diker. It represented a positive assault against the delegitimization and general misunderstanding about the Israeli settlement presence in the disputed territories. The US history on the issue had varied starting in 1967 that recognized Israel’s right to defensible borders Under UN Res. 242. However, over the past nearly 53 years there had been instances under Presidents Carter and Obama that took exception to Israel’s legal rights suggesting that building settlements was problematic. The most glaring example being the Obama Administration abstention on UN Security Council Resolution 2234 in December 2016 directed at curtailing construction of new settlements. Diker thinks that Pompeo’s decision parallels Israeli law, especially the Edmund Levy opinion that re-established the legitimacy of settlements in the disputed territories for nearly 500,000 Israelis. Diker thinks Pompeo’s ruling paves the way to apply Israeli law for Israeli settlements in Area C covering 95 Percent of the 500,000 population that resides close by the 1967 green line. Pompeo’s ruling raised adverse comments among leading US Democratic Presidential hopefuls. He noted former Vice President Biden’s warning that confirming the legality of Israeli settlements in the illegal West Bank occupied for 19 years by Jordan might give rise to “instability in the region”. Diker contended that neither the move of the US Embassy to Jerusalem and Trump’s support for Israeli sovereignty over the Golan hadn’t caused violence against the Jewish nation of Israel. Instead he pointed out the increasing security, commercial and diplomatic relations with Sunni Kingdoms and Emirates. Diker was asked to contrast anti-normalization versus normalization as an expert on the issues. He noted that anti-normalization has been fostered by the International BDS Campaign of the PLO/PA and NGOs. The purpose was to isolate Israel as equivalent to the former Apartheid South Africa regime. Israel sovereignty has been confirmed in the 20th Century through the Balfour Declaration of 1917, the 1920 San Remo, 1922 US Congressional resolutions and the UN Charter adoption of the League of Nations international resolutions. The practical side of normalization is reflected in a major initiative announced by Israel PM Netanyahu this past week: the creation of new industrial zones in Area C employing more than 250,000 new jobs for Arabs with earnings 3 times that under the PA in Areas A, and B under the Oslo Accords. This normalization initiative Diker suggest, will lay the groundwork for ultimate Palestinian sovereignty. Beyond the Matrix 20NOV2019 - PODCAST

Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon bring back Dr. Stephen Bryen to address Iran’s provocative nuclear and missile threats to Israel and the US. Dr. Bryen is a former Deputy Undersecretary of Defense during the Reagan Era, a noted military technologist and Asia Times columnist. This timely discussion occurred on news of Iran further breaching the 2015 Nuclear deal with ramp up of uranium enrichment threatening to produce enough fissile material for multiple nuclear weapons within a year. Moreover, given recent strikes by cruise missiles in Saudi Arabia led Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and IDF Chief of Staff Kochavi to warn of credible Iranian threats to launch precision missile strikes against Israel from Yemen, Syria and possibly Gaza. Iranian proxy in Gaza, Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), launched a barrage of over 170 rockets against targets in Southern and Central Israel. Israel retaliated with air strikes killing PIJ leaders in Gaza. Bryen dismissed unconfirmed rumors by a Chinese news agency about Russia possibly obtaining a David Sling Stunner interceptor missile in Syria. The Stunner interceptor missile, jointly developed by Israel’s Rafael Advanced Systems and US partner Raytheon, is equipped with sophisticated digital radar, embedded software and electro optical systems enabling it to discriminate decoys from targets at a range of 190 miles. These Stunner interceptor capabilities makes it a valuable standoff air defense system for Israel against Iranian cruise missiles and drones. It is far superior to the US Patriot Missile air defense system that failed to intercept a swarm of ground hugging Iranian cruise missiles with advanced detachable warheads that made precision strikes on oil tanks in Saudi Arabia. Bryen cited noted Israeli missile defense systems expert, Uzi Rubin, who noted that these Iranian precision cruise missiles with detachable warheads were equipped with optical homing systems with infrared capable of attacking fixed civilian or military targets. Israel must assure that it doesn’t lose deterrence against such threats. Given this sophisticated Iranian missile capability, Bryen said that Israel has three options: 1) shoot down incoming missiles; 2) attack launching sites; 3) conduct a general retaliation war against Iran and proxies in Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon and Gaza. Bryen noted that Palestinian Islamic Jihad can acquire precision rockets and missiles from Iran via smuggling by sea with delivery by small boats and from the Sinai through tunnels into Gaza. Hezbollah receives such missiles via Iranian air deliveries to Damascus airport, despite frequent Israeli air and missile attacks. Of mounting concern is Iran’s continual breaching of the 2015 nuclear agreement with news that the Tehran regime is loading gases into centrifuges at the underground Fordow facility near Qom, Iran. Bryen suggests that Iran will have enough fissile material within a year to produce multiple nuclear weapons. This presents a significant challenge to both Israel and the US, especially as neither is interested in a war with Iran. Instead, the Trump Administration is engaging in a campaign of “maximum pressure “including ratcheting up sanctions against key IRGC officials and controlled institutions. Despite this Iran pursued its nuclear program and regional support for proxies, estimated at $16 billion annually. Beyond the Matrix 14NOV2019 - PODCAST

Rod Reuven Dovid and Jerry Gordon interview Gil Hoffman, chief political analyst and columnist for the Jerusalem Post during his fall tour of the US and Canada. They discuss Israel’s national emergency- the two failures by Prime Minister Netanyahu to form a majority ruling coalition in the Knesset following the April 9th and September 17th, 2019 elections. Now, it is former IDF Chief Benjamin Gantz and his Blue White Alliance turn to see if a national unity government might be formed. But time is running out. Hoffman calls it the ‘garbage time’ as the Jewish nation is awaiting a decision by Attorney General Mandelblit on a possible bribery indictment against Netanyahu which carries with mandatory jail time. . Hoffman noted that Netanyahu’s lawyers have argued against the bribery charge on the alleged grounds of favorable news coverage. If Netanyahu’s American lawyers prevail in their rebuttal arguments, then Netanyahu might be able to form a ruling coalition. Meanwhile, Israel is in a national emergency as there is no functioning government and no funding of basic programs Despite this, Hoffman contends there will be no “threepeat” – a third possible election. The deadline is December 11th. Netanyahu still has a loyal following in Likud. When asked about possible successors to Netanyahu, Israel’s longest serving prime minister who recently tuned 70, Hoffman cited Gedeon Sa’ar, Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein and former Jerusalem Mayor, Nir Barkat. Avigdor Liberman is still pressing for a unity party with Gantz’s Blu White Alliance, without the religious parties. Further there is the matter of dealing with the Arab Joint List which could join a coalition in exchange for funding programs. There is the technical possibility of a Blue White Alliance minority government. Hoffman thinks there is no difference between the national security platforms of Gantz and Netanyahu, although the Blue White alliance might more prone to compromise on the Trump peace plan. Hoffman contends that despite the stalemate to form a new Knesset ruling coalition that there is virtual no chance that Israel will change the basic law to raise the threshold for party representation in the Knesset from the current level of 3.25 %. Nor is there any prospect for Israel adopting a written constitution. Political reform, he says is “too complicated”. Pressure, he believes, is building to come up with an effective compromise to form a ruling coalition. Turning to regional threats, Hoffman said that Israelis are “very concerned” about US withdrawal from Syria and alarmed about the debacle abandoning the Kurdish allies. Notwithstanding, the protests opposing Iran in both Iraq and Lebanon, Hoffman cited the possible threat of missile attacks on Israel by Iran -backed Houthi proxies from Yemen. Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon discuss the superbly executed US special operations raid, that, with Kurdish cooperation and critical intel, bagged the elusive founder of ISIS, Abu Bakr al Baghdadi in Northwest Idlib province at al-Bashir village near Turkey. A separate attack took out ISIS spokesperson and possible successor, Abu Hassan al- Muhajir in Turkish controlled Jarabalus. The US raid was named after Baghdadi captive and rape victim, captured US humanitarian aid worker killed in Syria, young, Kayla Mueller. Dr. Stephen Bryen, a Reagan era Pentagon official, noted military technologist and Asia Times columnist revealed some of the technology and key intelligence that identified the al Bashir safe house in Idlib province in northwest Syria, less than a few miles from the Turkish frontier. Bryen commented that the successful raid was important as it “dashed the hopes of inspired adherents of building a new Caliphate”. That is not withstanding the ability of 14,000 ISIS fighters ranging in Iraq, including hundreds released from prisons in Turkish bombings of a “safe zone” in Kurdish-controlled northeastern Syria. The all-important intelligence for the raid’s meticulous planning and execution came from Iraqi and especially Syrian Kurdish sources. Information obtained from a Turkish-arrested ISIS figure, turned over to Iraqi National Security, led to one of Baghdadi’s wives as well as his courier. That identified the northwest west Syria safe house in al-Barish, Idlib Province. The key intelligence of the interior of the safe house complex and tunnels including Baghdadi’s DNA was acquired from an informant inside the safe house. That was revealed by the Kurdish Commander of the Syrian Democratic Force, Gen. Mazloum Abdi. Early Saturday morning, October 26, eight US Special Operations Chinook MH-47Gs and Sikorsky UH60’s flying low and fast from al-Asad air base in Iraq descended on the safe house in Idlib. Bryen noted these aircraft are equipped with special devices and are air refuelable and capable of flying longer distances. They deployed upwards of 70 US Rangers and Delta Force fighters, who secured the perimeter and blew a hole in a wall avoiding booby trapped entrances. They engaged in a short fire fight, killing ISIS fighters, sparing some children. They cornered Baghdadi in a dead-end tunnel with the assistance of a hero attack dog. He took his life and that of three children, injuring the attack dog, by triggering a suicide vest. The raiders took two prisoners and a veritable trove of documents that might identify future ‘kill or capture’ targets of remaining senior ISIS cadre. The accompanying attack helicopters fired missiles that destroyed the enclave. Following confirmation of Baghdadi's Identity from biometric and DNA evidence his remains were disposed at sea with appropriate Islamic rites. Beyond the Matrix 30OCT2019 - PODCAST

He is director of external relations at Allegiance Strategies, a Washington, DC -based public affairs consulting firm. He is involved in advocacy for Congressional passage of tough sanctions bi- partisan legislation just as a cease fire “pause” of 120 hours comes to close in northern Syria. The “pause” was concluded with Turkish President Erdogan during a session in Ankara with Vice President Pence and Secretary of State Pompeo. The pause has been interrupted with continued fighting between Turkish -supported jihadist Syrian National Army (SNA) militias and elements of the Kurdish YPG-led Syrian Democratic Force. Moreover, there is increasingly evidence of war crimes perpetrated by the jihadist SNA and use of chemical weapons such as white phosphorous. President Trump ordered the redeployment of 1,000 US forces in Syria to bases in Iraq, while abandoning and even bombing former bases in Syria. Abdulkader thinks sanctions in proposed bi- partisan legislation co-sponsored by Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) are tougher than those lifted by President Trump in the “pause “agreement with Erdogan. A bi-partisan US House resolution condemning the President’s withdrawal from Syria passed resoundingly by a vote of 354 to 60. A House version of the Senate sanctions bill has been scheduled for a vote. Adoption of the Senate version is dependent on a call by Senate Majority Leader McConnell (R-KY) who wrote a Washington Post op ed critical of President Trump’s withdrawal from Syria. Abdulkader said Erdogan’s Turkish Armed Forces unleased a jihadist terror war using former Al Qaeda, Al Nusra and ISIS fighters to ethnically cleanse Kurds from their ancestral homeland in northeastern Syria. He noted Friday preaching in Turkish Mosques of the Quranic Mohammedan Army verses promoting jihad against Kurds, Jews, Christians, Yazidis and other religious minorities. Abdulkader noted that Pakistan and Hamas support Erdogan’s terror war against the Syrian Kurds. The irony is Turkey is a NATO partner committing this jihadist terror war in Syria. The Turkish-backed jihadists have committed documented war crimes against Kurdish civilians. They have videoed the execution and beheading of prisoners, that in one example included the brutal murder of a 35-year-old woman Kurdish politician. Many children have been maimed by random Turkish artillery bombardments. Abdulkader noted that upwards of 300,000 people have been internally displaced during the fighting in a massive humanitarian crisis. The only realistic option for many fleeing the conflict is Iraqi Kurdistan, which is united in support of Syrian Kurds. The Turkish attack on October 9th followed a phone call on October 6th with President Trump who acceded to Erdogan’s demands for withdrawal of US special operators. Abdulkader believes that President Trump may have been “duped” during that call. Erdogan already had a security arrangement acceptable to the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Force with joint US patrols, and removal of border barriers. Abdulkader thinks it would be in Israel’s long-term interest to support Kurdish interests in northeastern Syria. He suggests Israel reduce exports to Turkey akin to EU arms embargoes. He contends that US presence on the ground, while symbolic, is necessary to preserve the gains of Kurds and other religious minorities to stabilize the area. The alternative facing the US is the resurgence of ISIS that cost 11,000 Syrian Kurdish lives to defeat the Caliphate. Meanwhile, Russia has gained ground in the region, as evidenced by meetings with Saudi Arabia and the UAE concerned over US withdrawal from the region. The Turkish-backed jihadists have committed documented war crimes against Kurdish civilians. The only realistic option for many fleeing the conflict is Iraqi Kurdistan, which is united in support of Syrian Kurds. Abdulkader revealed Turkish Armed Forces, a NATO partner bombarding within 100 meters from a US special operator camp located in Kobani. The Turkish forces also bombed ISIS prison camps guarded by Kurdish forces, freeing detained fighters. Further, there are indications that Iran may be poised to takeover oil resources in eastern Syria. Abdulkader noted that without air support and heavy weapons, the SDF has adopted tactics including use of tunnels to stymie the advance of Turkish and jihadist troops to less than 3 to 5 kilometers. Their original goal for the “safe zone” was 30 kilometers. The main position lost was Manbij, a largely Arab town, which was handed over to Assad forces. It now flies a Russian flag. He noted the last-minute deal with Assad that SDF commander, General Mazloum Kobani said he who would rather have the ‘leverage’ of Syrian Forces on the border. This could signal the end of the tacit agreement with the Russians and Assad about autonomy and defense of the Kurdish homeland. As a result, Assad now controls 65% of Syria. Abdulkader thinks President Trump’s proposed sanctions are not as tough as those in proposed bi- partisan legislation co-sponsored by Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Chris Van Holen (D-MD). The President has dispatched Vice President Pence and team to Ankara seeking a possible withdrawal and cease fire. Abdulkader thinks it would be in Israel’s long-term interest to support Kurdish interests in northeastern Syria. He suggests Israel reduce exports to Turkey akin to EU arms embargoes. Rod Reuven Dovid Bryant and Jerry Gordon bring back veteran Iran-watcher, best-selling investigative journalist Ken Timmerman to address the question of has the US lost the Middle East. Background are troubling developments with Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Yemen, Syria, and Turkey. The bottom line: Iran intends to achieve its goal of controlling the area between the Persian Gulf, Red Sea and the Mediterranean with more than 25% plus of the world’s oil supply while perfecting its Shi’ite objective of surrounding and destroying Israel. As Stephen Bryen has noted in a recent Beyond the Matrix interview the US has “no strategy, no intelligence” and thus appears unable to deal with what Timmerman considers are dire geo-political threats. Notwithstanding the unresolved recent Israeli do-over election, Timmerman noted that Netanyahu has developed an effective strategic diplomatic and national security policy. He has avoided war with Iran, while punishing it in Syria, Lebanon and Iraq through deconfliction arrangements with Putin. Timmerman hopes that Netanyahu’s legacy will survive in whatever national unity government emerges. He points to a recent interview with Iran’s nefarious Quds Force Commander General Soleimani who noted that in 2006, Iran didn’t intervene in Lebanon against Israel as the US was engaged in War in Iraq. Now Iran and proxies surround Israel on three sides and is seeking to fulfill Shi’ite bizarre doctrine of destroying Israel and bringing back the 12th Imam. On the Trump Peace Plan Timmerman cites the resignation of Special Envoy Greenblatt saying “there’s no peace partner” – meaning the Palestinians. We next turned to Saudi failures to defend their oil facilities and display war making capabilities against the Houthi Iran proxy in Yemen, the survival of reformist Crown Prince Mohmmed bin Salman. Timmerman cited the ability of Iran and Iraqi proxies to launch a swarm of drones and cruise missiles that devastated the oil facilities and fields: “ their intel enabled it to the thread the needle of gaps in radar” of billion dollar US anti-Missile defense pointed in the wrong direction”. The Houthi attack that devastated a combined Saudi and Sudan force showed this is really a war between Iran and Saudi Arabia. He expects more Houthi cross border razzias against the Saudi seeking to disable the Saudi Royal Regime. Saudi royals are divided over anti-corruption strong arm actions by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salam (MBS) and taking responsibility for the murder of Jamal Khashoggi, despite the latter’s Muslim Brotherhood and support of Qatar. MBS is seeking reforms of conservative Wahhabism and diversifying economic reforms such as the ARAMCO IPO. Timmerman warns that Iran could play the Shi’ite card in the Saudi oil rich province through a network of Imams and Mosques. The takeaway is that the Saudis are not strong enough to take on Iran. Irony is that only the US, Israel and the UAE support MBS. Iraq, Timmerman believes that Iraq is falling apart with internal protests, Iran controlling 100,000 Shi’ite Hashd al Shaabi PMF militia fighters and Israel attacking their warehouses stocked with precision missiles. Iraq is effectively a “province of Iran ceding sovereignty to its neighbor”. The question remains will the US keep its remaining assets in Iraq at the Al-Sad airbase. Turkey’s Erdogan’s objective in his “safe zone” foray into northeastern Syria Kurdish homeland is to ‘smash Kurds in eastern Turkey, Syria, Iran and Iraq”. Erdogan, Timmerman contends, was the main patron of ISIS in Syria. Erdogan’s objective in invading northeastern Syria would be to release the 70,000 ISIS families and fighters. We end this fast-paced informative interview with a discussion of Timmerman’s views on the Whistleblower compliant over Ukraine issues and President Trump’s response. “You need to listen for the whisper,” says Frank Warner from Frank Anthony Salon in Chester,  New Jersey. Frank has survived tough times in the beauty business and has sincere wisdom to share. My interview with Frank was profound for me in many ways. First he tells a story about how he was greatly impacted by my father. Second he discusses his love of marketing. Thirdly, and maybe the most important, is what he calls “the whisper.” Personally I call this “an inkling.” Frank’s Whispers and my Inklings, are born of the same sound, a quiet sound, a subtle voice that tells you what is next.. Listening closely to your inner voice can make all the difference in the world. Frank mentions how listening to the whispers has put him in the right place, in the right situation to hear the right information at the right time. He has a morning ritual that sets him up to hear “the whispers.” His ritual, is prayer. Frank has his ear attuned to the quiet voices and it has served him and his staff well. The Frank Anthony Salon walks the talk. Frank says “the way” is to serve. He tells me about a series events that declare service, kindness and concern. These events include: free haircuts for veterans on Veterans Day, Divas for a Day for cancer patients, hiring disabled employees, declaring kindness to clients and staff. You don't hear about people using a spiritual pursuit to enhance their business. But as there are so many potential moral pitfalls in business, I think it makes a lot of sense. After 49 years in the beauty industry this method has served Frank well. Other passions and motivations include marketing. He follows the concepts for Jay Conrad Levinson the writer of the book Guerrilla Marketing. Awarded multiple honors for his in salon programs, now he has launched smart and manageable online strategy as well. Kindness and serving from the art, he explains, is really his overarching motivation. It occurs to me that kindness can be used as a marketing strategy. Isn't it the true intent of great customer service? But Frank isn’t just being kind  to make money, he is sincere in this pursuit. Caring and kindness pervades his entire salon operation. He mentions my father, Jerry Gordon’s kindness, when he came before the Intercoiffure board for his initial interview for entry to the esteemed organization. Going before the Membership Committee of IC is a nerve racking experience. I have been there. What does Frank remember about the experience: my father’s interest and comments about his internal marketing programs.I was aware Frank knew my father, but I had no idea of the connection between them or the profound impact Jerry had on Frank. Please listen to the podcast to hear more about Jerry, Vidal Sassoon and many more who influenced Frank.Listening to the Whisper is sound advice. Whether your deciding which education event to attend, how to deal with clients, staff and which marketing should be used, the whisper can inform, direct and more.  Although Frank’s whisper comes from prayer, I know mine comes from my intuition, my gut feelings. If your listening, you too will hear the whisper, the inkling. Be like Frank, listen for the quiet voice and then take action.Tony Gordongordonsalon.com

Think of things worthy of praise: Be an Encouraging Christian Christy argues the Light of the World is Green not Red. Green Light Christiansa sermon by Rev. J. Christy RamseyClick the title above for a mp3 recording Audio from South Lake Tahoe Community Presbyterian Church on April 17, 2016, edited from a flawless transcription made by edigitaltranscriptions all errors are mine. Philippians 4:8-9 Sermons also avaliable free on iTunes Why do we need green lights on the traffic signals? If they were important we would call them “go lights.” But we call them Stoplights. If you take away the green light at the bottom, what difference does it make? I mean if there wasn’t a traffic light, you’d just go anyway; right? It’s like an automatic green. Why do we have those things? Oh, my goodness. I think I need to turn to an outside expert to explain why we have traffic signals. In the movie “Starman”, the alien Starman comes and learns about humanity. He drives up to a yellow light and he just floors it. His terrified passengers yells: “I thought you knew what you were doing. You told me you watched me. You told me you knew how to drive by watching.” The Starman responds, “Oh, I watched you. I learned everything: red light stop, green light go, yellow light go very fast.” That’s not true, in case any of you are out there thinking, oh, that’s what the preacher said. No, yellow means stop. If you’re ever in Latrobe, Pennsylvania you can get a ticket for not stopping at a yellow light. Friends have told me this. You’re supposed to stop at yellow. What is the good of a green light, yellow light, red light? Red is stop; yellow is caution, warning, slow down, look out, maybe stop. You’re in the danger zone. Green means go, but we go anyway. You know, there’s people like that. Especially Christian people are like that, aren’t there? There are red light Christians. There are yellow light Christians. There are green light Christians. H.L. Mencken said “Puritanism is the haunting fear that someone somewhere is happy.” Red light Christians. Now, we don’t have to go – we don’t have to go to current things, Christians who say stop, stop, stop. We can go back in time. Christians are always being stopped. Christians – those Puritans, they tried to stamp out Christmas. Tried not to let that happen. There was a fine if you didn’t go to work on December 25th, or if you were caught celebrating at all. In America, in New England, Christmas was banned as un-Christian, pagan, terrible, awful thing. Stop. Stop it. Women wearing pants in church. I remember that. Oh, that was a huge, huge eternal hellfire issue. Jesus wore a dress but I don’t know if that had anything to do stopping the pants. Christians are always telling you, stop, stop, this has got to stop. I mean, now we’re at, I think we’re – I think the holiday that we’ve got our sights on is Halloween now. We’re trying to stomp that out. I’m not sure. Sooner or later we’re going to have a Halloween season in the church. In a couple of generations, the church will be decorated in orange and black for the Halloween season. And it’ll be okay. Stop doesn’t always work. And I’m not sure that’s the best witness into what Jesus wants to us doing, to be stoplights. But if you listen to some people, they will tell you how you shouldn’t do this, shouldn’t do that. No dancing. No smoking. No gambling. Not in Nevada. Never hear that in Nevada. But no, no, stop, stop. You know, being just Red Light Christians doesn’t work. I know a little about red lights. When I was a volunteer firefighter, we sort of had a love/hate relationship with the red lights. We’d love them for other people, but we weren’t too fond of them ourselves. You know, when you’re driving a couple-ton truck full of water, as the truck drivers reminded me constantly, water just doesn’t stop instantly. It keeps going even if the truck stops. So you just can’t slam on the brake, Christy. This isn’t a car. Oh, they got after me. I had a remedial fire engine driving I had to go to. When I started at the fire station, and you know when you start a job, am I the only one, when you start something, you don’t ask every question right away? Do you say, well, I’ll ask about this today, and I’ll ask about that tomorrow, and then, you know, you sort of ration them out; you know? And after about a month I asked them a question had been bugging me since day one. Right on the inside of the old fire station, about this high up, very inconvenient, there was this old-timey light switch, the flip kind on a metal box light switch, right there. But it was way up here. And it had this old yellow paper over it. And the paper, in black magic marker it was written, “Do not use.” Why is that switch up there? Why is there a paper over it saying “Do not use?” What in the world? Well, after a while I got up courage and asked one of the old-timers. And I said, “Hey, what’s that switch up there? The one that has the paper over it saying ‘Do not use’?” He explained: “Oh, that switch. Huh. That turns all the lights in town red.” Maybe they ought to lock that up or something, but no. Oh? There’s more! He continues: “Yeah, we don’t use that anymore. We used to, and then they had that right-on-red law. And now it doesn’t stop traffic, so we don’t use it anymore.” Even turning every light in the town red doesn’t stop people. Red lights don’t always work, and even when they do, they don’t work for long. Well, what about those yellow lights? You know that we’re – you know that we’re kind of, sort of, you know, saying no, but we’re saying we’re not going to be mean about the no? We’re going to be kind of nice about the no? How about the yellow? Yellow light Christians, how about them folks? You know those folks. You know, they’re, you know, what’s the biggest yellow light in our history and our life? Well, I think it’s the “don’t ask, don’t tell,” that one. That’s kind of a yellow light. It’s wrong, but just don’t talk about it. As long as you don’t talk about it, it’s okay, but not really, you know, it’s kind of the – that, that didn’t work real well. That did not work well. People were tortured, actually tortured so that they would tell and get kicked out of the army without benefits, without any status at all. Yellow Lights are ignored too often to really work. And, you know, all the folks that say not yet, too soon, too much a hurry, we’ve got take this slow. You know, the oppressed people, the people that are suffering, the people that are under the thumb, they never say that. They never say, oh, it’s too soon. Yeah, I can wait another lifetime, another generation, another decade. The yellow lights, whoa, wait, wait, wait, don’t do that yet. It’s too much; you know? Doesn’t work for folks waiting to go into equality or yearning for relief. What about the slippery slope argument? If we allow this, well, then, this terrible thing would happen. You don’t want this terrible thing, do you? Well, then you’re against this reasonable request. You know the slippery slope now? You know what the one is now? They’re going to check your birth certificate before you go in the restroom. And you thought you were mad at TSA delays at the airport. You know, what about now? “Please allow an extra hour before going to the restroom so we can check your birth certificates. There’ll be a line.” Who has that job? Is that a big problem? They said, well, you know, it’s to keep the women safe. Well, no women ever said that, I don’t think. Women are not safe anywhere. I’m sorry to break it to you. It’s not a bunch of assaults in a public restroom that’s a problem. Safety for women is everywhere. It’s even in their own homes. I am totally for safety of women. I am totally for safety of everyone. I don’t care what gender you are assigned, could be, was, will, whatever is your identity. I am for your safety, and that bathroom birth certificates are not safety for anyone. Safety is for everyone, everywhere, all the time. I want safety in all the rooms and outside not just one little restroom for one gender. That’s ridiculous. But that’s yellow lights; isn’t it? The slippery slope? If we allow restroom freedom, terrible things will happen: women will be assaulted everywhere. Got news for you. Already happening. Let’s work on that problem and not on this little false yellow light thing here. There was a religious professor in Grove City College, very conservative college. I went there. I get props for that. But he somehow slipped in. I think he might have been a sleeper agent for the liberals and any day he was going to be activated. But he was there, and he was talking about slippery slope. And he says, yeah, that’s why I’m against curbside trash pickup. Once you allow them to take garbage off your curb, next they’re going to be into the yard and taking the bicycles. Next they’ll be up to the porch and taking the patio furniture and throwing it away. Finally, they’ll be wheeling out your appliances and putting them in the trash truck. You don’t want the government stealing your appliances, do you? Well, then you’re against curbside trash pickup. That Professor is no longer there. Made too much sense. Yellow lights do not put Christians in the best light. But, you know, some of them are good. Red lights, red lights. Yellow lights, some of them are good. I’m okay with – I’m okay with some things. You know, stop the violence. Yeah, big red light on that. Stop, stop fighting. Stop hurting people. Stop discrimination. Stop a lot of things. I’ve got a big red light on those. And, you know, yellow lights are good, too. My wife, is a physical therapist. And most of her stuff I – she’s going to correct me later. But most of her stuff is get people up and walking. It’s a huge change in your quality of life, if you can get out of bed and go places you need to go, even in the house. And she says, you know, fear of falling, that’s very handy. You really need that to learn how to walk and how to move around. You need the fear of falling. That’s a big yellow light. Whoo, watch out. That’s not safe. Grab onto a bar. Use your walker. Do whatever you need to do. Do not fall. Big yellow lights. I’m good with yellow lights. Some of the yellow lights. But back to why do we have green lights? You know, I was worried about this. This was bothering me. And again, Bette Lynn gave me the answer. She goes, “Well, if you didn’t have the green light, you wouldn’t know if the traffic light was broken or not.” Well, you know what you do at a broken traffic light. Let’s see how well – what do you do if the traffic light’s broken, like a power outage? CONGREGATION: Stop. PASTOR RAMSEY: Four-way stop, thank you. No, it’s not go as fast as you can and beat the other people, as some people think. It’s a four-way stop. So if we didn’t have the green lights, everything would be a four-way stop. No one would know, is that signal working or not? Is the other people seeing red or not? I don’t know. But a green light, a green light says, I got you. It’s okay. I’m on it. I’m on the job. I got you. I got the others on red. Come right on in there. Yeah, you’re good. Encouraging. If there’s anything worthy of praise, if there’s anything good, think about these things: big green light. It is not necessary. You should go on your own. But, boy, does it help to go when you have a green light smiling at you. If you don’t see a green light, you just might stop because you don’t know if it’s okay to go or not. You might think that traffic light is broken. And you know, the same is about Christianity. If all the people hear are red lights and yellow lights. If the Christian message is only about stop, don’t do this, don’t do that, the culture is terrible. If preachers are yellow lights: we’ve got to watch out, things are going to get terrible. People are going to think Christianity’s broken. Because they never see a green light from us. Yet we do have green lights. We just don’t tell anybody. We’re full of green lights: baptism, big green light. Weddings and marriages are big green light; go and coming. And then funerals, even funerals, green lights. It’s not that bad. It’s not over. It’s not a stop for us. The message of funerals should be a big green light, that death is not a stop. And even the littler celebrations. Not just hatch, match, and dispatch, which is the ones we’re good at, but also all the little events. We need to celebrate membership where we say yes to seekers joining Christ’s church. Folks need to see our signal that we believe in you, we accept your promises. Commissioning to missionary work and mission trips. Ordination and installation of officers, yes. Go, go and lead. Do that thing. Choir recruitment, yeah, you can come up and sing. We’re all for you, yeah. Big green light. You’re supposed to sing. You’re supposed to lead. Go. Do it. Encouragement. We do that, but we don’t tell anybody. We think the most important things are the red and the yellow lights. We preach only about the cautions and the don’ts and the stops. I will tell you, and as our scripture says in Psalm 23, the most important things are saying I am with you. I go with you to the darkest valley, the most enemies. I have a table for you. I’ve got a place for you. Don’t worry. Green light. I got you. Come on. You know, we do not call Jesus Christ is God Stop Us. A Divine Red Light. We do not say that Jesus Christ is God Warn Us. A Holy Yellow light. What do we say? We say Emmanuel, God With Us. God Go With Us. Green light. That is our identity. We’re here so that you can be blessed to be a blessing. We’re here so that you can be forgiven to forgive. We’re here that you can go through the valley of the shadow of death and fear no evil. God’s got you. Big green light. Two more stories. So back to the firefighters. You never see anybody more serious about something than a dedicated volunteer. I mean, an employee can be dedicated. But a volunteer has to be really dedicated. They are not getting paid, so they’d better have another good reason to be there. Everyone has to take a test in Ohio to be a volunteer firefighter. I accidentally became a volunteer firefighter and had to take the test. Look at this body. Not the fabulous fit specimen of the firefighting caste. They said, “Okay, okay, okay, Rev, come on. We’ve got to take this test.” It’s called the Firefighter Agility Test. What they want to know is that you’re not going to screw them up on a fire run. That’s what they want to know. So you’ve got to climb up a ladder – and climb down – without freaking out. You’ve got to be able to be blindfolded and crawl around in a maze without freaking out. You’ve got to be able to carry this dummy, without falling and having to be rescued yourself. These are things they want to know before you can do before they go through fire with you. And so John Love, one of my great mentors, was reading off the official Ohio regulations for these tests, da da da da da da da. Very serious guy. Da da da da da. He’s a funeral director. They lean toward serious. Da da da da da. He’s reading them all out. And at the very end he says: “And in all these tests, we are not allowed to physically assist you. But we are allowed to cheer.” And what? He said “cheer” in his serious funeral director/firefighter captain voice. And that’s what they did. They weren’t allowed to help me, but they were allowed to cheer. “C’mon, Preacher, you can do it, you can get up there. Oh, you’ve got this, you’ve got this. Only a little more, Go Rev Go!” They were there all the way through. Got me through it. We aren’t allowed to help you, but we’re allowed to cheer. Another guy, big mentor in my life, Jerry Gordon, great, great Christian, great, wonderful guy. He and I split up the Salvation Army for the county, doing that together, great guy, helped each other out. He was the one that was the mentor for my daughter in confirmation, helped her and led her through making a public decision for Christ. A real special bond. Great guy. And he wanted our small church to do Relay for Life. And when they do Relay for Life in small towns, really, it is a serious business. None of this 12-hour jazz. It was all weekend, buddy. And everybody’s going to be out, every team is going to have someone on that track all night long, buddy. We’re going to do it right. So I thought, yeah, he’s a little ambitious, you know. So I said, “Hey, Jerry, Jerry, I’m with you. Jerry, put me down for an hour on the track, your worst hour. Whatever you can’t get, put me down, I’ll be there for you, buddy.” He goes, “Really?” Because, again, you know my physique is an issue for endurance tests. And I said, “Yeah, really, really. I want to do this. You’re going to have trouble. I know you’re going to have trouble with this getting enough people in the night, and whatever hour you need, I’ll be there, I’ll do an hour. I can do an hour.” And he, “All right, all right. You sure?” “Yeah, I’m sure.” I got, like, 3:00 a.m., buddy, 3:00 to 4:00 a.m., walking around the high school track, 3:00 to 4:00 a.m., walking around doing this, you know. Da da da da da, da. Oh, it is dark, dark, dark. And I’m tired. So I get out there, and Jerry’s there. I go out there, lap one. Out from behind the scoreboard, Jerry Gordon, “Go Christy, go Christy, go Christy, yay, yay, go Christy.” I jump a little and smile, Okay. I’m kind of sleepy, walking around. Next lap, behind the food stand, out pops Jerry “Good job, go, way to go, way to run. Yeah, you’re the man, you’re the man.” Every lap he’s jumping out from somewhere different and yelling at me. One time he came out of the Porta-Potty. I am still kind of freaked out about that. You know, Jerry could have slept. He could have taken the hour off. He could have done that, I would have gone around the track anyway. He wasn’t allowed to help, but he was allowed to cheer and that kept me from stopping. I hope you do that. I hope there’s people in your life like Jerry Gordon and John Love that, even if they can’t help you, and I hope they help you, but I hope they’re always cheering you on, saying, “Way to go. Good job. You’re doing well.” You guys are doing well as a people and as a congregation. And I hope people keep telling you that all the time. I hope they don’t say, “Oh, haven’t you got a minister yet? Well, tsk, tsk, tsk.” You know, I hope that people are saying you are doing great with mission trips. You’re doing great with worship. You’re doing great with Bread & Broth. You’re doing great with all these programs that you keep going without a minister. You are doing great with welcoming and worship and music and outreach, doing all – so you’re doing a seminar the end of this month and opening it up to the community. Something that even Presbytery take notice of, and that’s not easy to do, to get Presbytery to take notice of you in a good way. Yeah, they’re even sending money down to you for that. So good on you. And I want to encourage you. And I want you, when you think of things, when you think of how the church is going, when you think about how your life is going, I want you to think about the scripture. Is there anything, anything, anything worthy of praise? Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure. Anything worthy of praise. All the good things. Think about these things. Be green light Christians. Know that you can go and tell other people they can go so they don’t think the church is broken. So they don’t stop everywhere, saying, well, I don’t know, is it good or not? I don’t know. It could be red or yellow, I don’t know. But you say green, yeah, you’re welcome here. Yeah, you belong here. Yeah, we’re glad you’re here. Yeah, you’re okay. Yes, we love you just the way you are. And yes, use any bathroom you want. Not a problem here. I want to leave you with a Presbyterian minister from Latrobe – Latrobe, Pennsylvania. Fred Rogers did his ministry in Pittsburgh, as Mister Rogers in “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood,”. I was blessed to be in his home church as interim for 18 months. Got to meet the neighborhood. You know, all the characters in the neighborhood were from his family, his extended family. And Daniel the Tiger used to come up and talk to me about the sermon. And it was so neat because they kind of look like the puppets. It was so neat. And so many good stories about Fred Rogers, how wonderful and caring and loving he was. I want to leave you with this video. Go ahead and do what Mr. Rogers tells you, for 10 seconds and the rest of your life. And that’ll be the end of the sermon. Edited from a transcript by eDigitalTranscriptions [Fred Rogers Acceptance Speech for Lifetime Achievement Award– 1997] Thank you. Thank you. Oh it’s a beautiful night in this neighborhood. So many people have helped me to come here to this night. Some of you are here, some are far away and some are even in Heaven. All of us have special ones who have loved us into being. Would you just take, along with me, 10 seconds to think of the people who have helped you become who you are, those who have cared about you and wanted what was best for you in life. 10 seconds of silence. I’ll watch the time. [10 Sec Pause] [Mister Rogers] Source: LYBIO.net Whomever you’ve been thinking about, how pleased they must be to know the difference you feel they’ve made. You know they’re kind of people television does well to offer our world. Special thanks to my family and friends, and to my co-workers in Public Broadcasting, Family Communications, and this Academy for encouraging me, allowing me, all these years to be your neighbor. May God be with you. Thank you very much. “speech transcript from lybio.net .” Transcipt differs from the recording with some exclaimations removed and some patter while I checked my notes edited out. Jerry Gordon is an author and editor of short and long fiction. As an editor, his work with Maurice Broaddus in the creation of the "Dark Faith" and "Dark Faith: Invocations" anthologies have informed his knowledge and perspective on the craft and qualities of good storytelling. Writing is own fiction - including the upcoming PRE-apocalyptic "Breaking the World" has further refined those sensibilities. This was an exceptional 20(ish) minutes where we explored the challenges of using known history in your stories, the weaving (not mashing) of genres, and the value of reviewing and critiquing other writer's works
