Do we like her character and what do we think of the two different story lines of Holly and Ralph. Holly is on the spectrum, but is the point that maybe she isn’t? That she has some special gift where a side effect is similar to Autism. Or is this Stephen King’s lazy way of writing a unique character. Book was published in 2018 so he can’t claim ignorance or it being a long time ago. He also had a character like this in “The Dreamcatcher” in which a mentally ill boy had telekenetic powers and was actually an alien. Do we think its Aliens in this story? What is that in the barn? It’s Terry’s clothes, but what do we think the clear goop is on the clothes. Why was it just left out like that? What happened to Jack? He is clearly infected with something from the Outsider. Is the “alien” an infection that passes from person to person? Then what about the Doppelganger theory proposes. This seems to be most likely, but how does it all fit together.

Geralt see’s the Niflgaardian army marching toward Cintra. Sensing the danger he makes his way to Cintra to take Ciri under his protection. When he makes it to Cintra he finds Queen Calanthe less then willing to give up her only grand daughter and heir to the Cintran throne to an inhuman stranger. She first tries to kill him, then trick him, then imprison him when Geralt shows he is intent on keeping Ciri safe. We then go through the final scenes of the battle of Cintra through Geralt’s eyes as he breaks from the Dungeon and looks for Ciri. Bring long gone now, Geralt flee’s the city and continues his search.Q- Bringing it back to the beginning. Does this do a good job of tying the two stories back together in a way that is “good”. Because I think it was creative, but do we think it was a good way to do it.Q- Does this make sense? Or like episode 4 are we left scratching our heads again?Yennefer travels to Nazzir in Nilfgaard where she is reunited with Istrid. They reunite somewhat momentarily before their relationship is reluctantly cut off. Then Yennefer is met by the mage Vilgefortz who asks her to come back to Aretuza to discuss the Nilfgaardian aggression. Once there, she takes a trip down memory lane before reuniting with all the mages for a council meeting to discuss supporting Cintra who has not allowed Mages for sometime. The council votes to stay out of it, but Tesseia and Vilgefortz leads a company of mages to fight Nilfgaard. This leads them to Sodden Hill where they will make their last stand.Q- why did she return? What is she getting out of coming back to a place she seems to so thoroughly detest. Same with going to fight at Sodden Hill. Tesseia asks her to do it for her, but seriously, none of her motivations make any sense. At least not till next episode. 16:00 why is Yennefer back? Problems with time. 24:00 GeraltEpisode 8, “Much More”32:08 Like Episode 2, this is Yennefer’s story. As they prepare for the Battle they occupy a castle sitting on the only crossing over the vast Yaruga river. Yennfer and the mages hold a vaillant defense against the Nilfaardian army and Fringilla. However, there are not enough of them and one by one they are killed or incapacitated until only Yennefer is abe to save them. She is told unleash her chaos in which she wipes out the Nilfgaardian army in a storm of fire, but then she herself disappears.45:04 Geralt actually, and literally, takes a backseat in this episode as he is bitten by a Nekker which is deadly to humans. In and out of delirium he spends the episode having flashbacks to him as a child and being abandoned by his mother Visenya, and being adopted by Vesemir into the Witcher order. Visenya then comes to Geralt’s aid to heal his wound and saves his life. Upon coming the merchants home he has the epiphany that Ciri is in the woods. He runs out to find her and does. Geralt and CIri hug before Ciri ends the season by asking, “Who is Yennefer?”Q- what a season! When , not if, do you think we will see Yennefer again. Do you like how she went out? Nothing like a main character dying to be ur season 1 cliffhanger.Q- What were our observations on this final episode. Did we like it? How about the season as a whole now that we are finished.52:00 Final reflections on season one58:59 Teaser for our upcoming episodes: Review of the HBO series, The Outsider.

It is a courting party for the hand of Princess Pavetta, Calanthe’s daughter. Geralt’s job is to protect Jaskier from the lords and nobles who wish revenge on him. Instead Queen Calanthe takes an interest in the Witcher and attempts to hire his services. This is because Calanthe knows of a beast who will crash the party and take away her beautiful daughter Pavetta. Sure enough the party is crashed by a helmeted knight who has “claim” over Pavetta according to the Law of Surprise. It turns out the knight is cursed and so he has the head of a hedgehog and so this is why Calanthe enlisted the Witcher’s help and demands the Knight be slain. Geralt refuses and instead defends the knight. This starts a brawl and ultimately it is found that the knight, named Urcheon or Duny and Pavetta are already in love with each other. So despite her reluctance, Calanthe accepts Duny and allows him to marry her daughter. This lifts the curse on Duny who turns back into a human. To repay Geralt for saving his life Duny offers him whatever reward he wishes. Geralt claims the Law of Surprise as payment and it turns out Pavetta is pregnant. The child will become Princess Cirilla and thus bind her and Geralt with Destiny.17:47Q- What do you think of the show choosing this scene to show that all 3 storylines are in different time periods and showing that this dinner party was at least 15 years before the Fall of Cintra.Q- Did you like the story of the cursed knight falling in love with the princess and being able to lift the curse, reverse Shrek style.Q- Did this scene make sense? I found myself having a hard time following a lot of the dialogue and events.Q- The Law of Surprise is introduced here and it, plus destiny, becomes one of the defining themes of the Witcher story. Did they do a good job explaining it and do you buy it as a lynchpin of the show moving forward.25:30 Elsewhere this episodeYennefer has been in the court of Aedirn for 30 years now. She is accompanying Queen Kalis when their carriage is ambushed by an assassin who wants to kill the Queen. Yenneger tries to defend the Queen for some time before leaving her for dead and taking the child, who also dies.Q- just one question. Why tho?29:03 Ciri is taken in by the Dryads of the Brookilyn forest. They discuss with her about the magic in the forest and in the water especially. The waters are supposed to rid someone of their memories and thus their fears and identity. Ciri is unaffected by it. Q- again, Why tho?Witcher Ep. 5, “Bottled Apetites” 35:45This episode sees Geralt’s path cross with Yennefer as Geralt seeks help to heal Jaskier. Geralt is found fishing for a Djinn or genie, in a river. After 3 years Jaskier just casually strolls up on him and finds that Geralt is looking for one because he cannot sleep. Geralt does indeed find a bottles Djinn and him and Jaskier unleash it. It nearly kills Jaskier who instead has his throat wounded and so Geralt takes him to the nearby town to find help. There an elf healer, Chireaden, tells him of the dangerous mage in town who could help them. Geralt goes to the mage who turns out to be Yennefer. The two of them trade verbal barbs and Yennefer takes an interest in the Djinn they unleashed. She heals Jaskier and puts a spell on Geralt to black out and assault the town council who had been threatening Yennefer since she arrived. Yennefer had healed and kept Jaskier alive because she thinks he has one more wish to be granted before she can capture the Djinn. Turns out it was Geralt with the wishes and so he goes to save Yennefer as he knows that she will not be strong enough to defeat the Djinn. With his “Last Wish” he is able to save Yennfer, and the two of them then have sex in the destroyed house of the nobleman.Q- There isn’t too much to unpack here. So what did you think of this tale broadly speaking? Did you like how this is how they had them meet? If anything its more about the time period I think.Q- Do you like, what is essentially, their love origin story?Q- at the time, what did you think was his Last Wish?Yennefer wants everything start of second recordingElsewhere on the continentCiri is found by her friend Mousesack, who is actually the Doppler, finds Ciri and convinces her to come back to see Geralt, but is instead taking her to see Cahir, who is the winged-helmet rider of Nilfgaard.43:55 Episode 6, “Rare Species”Geralt is out hunting a monster when Jaskier is saved by Borch, real name Villentretenmerth. Who asks Geralt to join his team to kill a dragon rampaging the kingdom of Caingorn in Kovir. Geralt refuses until he sees Yennefer has joined another team to hunt the dragon. Geralt immediately agrees and so they go on a quest to track down and kill the dragon. Along the way you meet a group of dwarves led by Yarpin Zigrin, a foul mouthed angry Dwarf and they team up with Geralt to beat the “reavers” to the prize. Geralt and Yennefer have the chance to reconnect after their fight with the Djinn. They seem to make up and fall in love again as they then make it to the Dragon’s lair. There they find the common green dragon dead while defending a dragon egg. They also find Borch defending the egg as its revealed he is a mythical Gold Dragon. Seeing that the dragon is already dead, Geralt, Yennefer, and Borch defend the egg from the Reavers. Later on, they are all talking and Borch reveals Geralt’s last wish was to bind him to Yennefer. Fearing their Love isn’t real Yennefer leaves Geralt and in his anger, Geralt leaves Jaskier.Q- How about this for a fantasy quest. This show is now going full fantasy where GOT really shied away from it and stayed in reality. Do you like this difference.Q- What did you think of the story? Did you ever suspect that Borch was the dragon? What about his ability to shapeshift into a human?Q- what do you think were Borch’s motivations for recruiting Geralt?Q- What about Geralt’s last wish to tie him with Yennefer forever.Q- Do you like the episodic nature of Geralt’s travels or do you want more of a narrative that can be followed throughout the season.53:00 Ciri is being taken by Mousesack, but her and her elven friend Dara become increasingly suspicious of who he is. Eventually it is found that he is a doppler and they fight before Ciri is captured and tied up. Later, it is seen that Ciri is confronted by Cahir, before it is realized that it is the doppler who took her form. They fight and, injured, the Doppler flees not to be seen again this season.1:07:00 ending remarks

Yennefer is transformed in to a beautiful woman after the ceremony.Q: Is Yennefer’s motivation believable?Q: What is the deeper meaning behind her transition - its more than wanting to be beautiful?Q: did you have any issues with the dialogue? Because I did. It was a lot of gibberish that didn’t make sense or was just meant to sound cool.Eric’s take: This is my favorite episode of the season. It concludes Yennefer’s origin story and also foreshadows the show’s jumbled timeline as well as her advanced age. Her transformation was...interesting, and powerful, but I’m not entirely sure im sold on what it was trying to say or accomplish. Ciri is non-existent in this episode and I like that. Her story isn’t going anywhere and the show needs to set up its more interesting characters.Which is why this is my favorite episode. Geralt’s preparation and fight with the Striga is the penultimate story of the witcher. He is just looking to pay to get his horse back, and this leads him into a complicated “quest” that ends in him delving head-first into a scandal with King Foltest and his cursed daughter. It does an excellent job of laying out the story and building tension. Really this story could have been an excellent movie on its own. The battle with the Striga is amazing along with the pacing of the story and the conversation between Geralt, Foltest, and becomes the tale that a bard would defenitly sing about.Bensound.com theme music

This is our opinion about what connected with us and what was entertaining for us. We will provide observations of the technical aspects of the show’s quality: story, characters, entertainment value, adherence to the source material, etc.Q: What is the purpose of the Witcher in the series? We learn his abilities and how effective he is as a warrior, but why is he in the place in this story and what role does he play? The Witcher: Episode 1Overview. The story opens on Geralt of Rivia fighting an enormous spider like creature called a Kikimora. After killing and beheading it he brings the corpse to the nearby town of Blaviken. It is here we get his introduction, and the fact that he is a Witcher, or a mutant monster hunter, who is both feared and revered by humans around the continent. Here Geralt meets 2 people. Stregobor, a wizard who is in hiding, and Renfri, a “mutant” woman who is looking to kill Stregobor for the injustices he put her through. Both ask Geralt to kill the other, promoting the idea that to do so would be the lesser evil. Geralt proclaims that Evil is Evil, and when being forced to choose he will elect not to choose at all. Nonetheless, Renfri forces him to kill her and all of her men in what would become a famous battle and earned him the nickname “The Butcher of Blaviken”.How do we feel about this introduction of Geralt, and the world as a whole? Was the story a good one to start this whole series on?Is Superman a good choice for Geralt? An emotionless, apathetic, if not witty protagonist who claims to stay out of the affairs of men, yet always seems to find himself in the middle of it?What, if any, significance is there to the major battle scene?Notes**The beginning fight with Kikimora (mutant human-spider) captured my attention. This is a weird, magical, dangerous world - but The Witcher might be strong enough to survive.**Dyadic relationship between good/evil, loyalty to family (one’s own)/not having a family; muddy world/bright & colorful illusions; monsters/monster killers**Aesthetically and atmospherically, this is a dirty, mud-filled world. And, Cavil would have been equal to or better than Hemsworth as Thor. Just sayin’**Like all good stories a triad emerges making the basic dyadic relationship obsolete. Evil and lesser versions of evil. Magic, humans, monsters, mutants - mixtures not everyone is all of any one thing.“Curse of the Black Sun”??The second main plot of this episode and series follows the young child, Princess Cirilia. She is a light blonde, and you could almost believe her hair is ashen-white like the Witchers. She is heir to the Kingdom of Cintra, and her grandparents are facing a war with the mysterious kingdom of Nilfgaard. A southern Empire that has been encroaching and then invades the kingdom of Cintra. Ciri’s grandparents are slain on the battlefield with the grandmother returning to essentially tell Ciri to find the Witcher Geralt of Rivia for he will protect her. What begins is Cirilia’s run from Nilfgaard, and her search for Geralt. How about this introduction to the second of the 3 main characters of this series. Is it a good setup for the series to come? What I find is that Geralt’s story is the world building, while Ciri’s story is the narrative one. Do we like this splitting of story structure, and do we like where the episode ended up?What about the technical aspects, the music, editing, costumes, etc…**The storming of the castle, the wounded woman (mother), Ciri’s escape, all compelling and increased by interest in the story. Leaves Ciri with a few proverbs, wise advice, sends her out. “Go the world depends on it” what does this mean?**The Battle of Sodden Hill: The Nilfguard stronghold is stormed. Who are the armies, invaders? Hillsguard? Who are the Citizens?Overall do we like Episode 1 and do we think it sets up the universe and series well for the rest that is to come?https://witcher.fandom.com/wiki/World_map?file=Polish_Website_second_map.jpgThis is a link to a map of the continent. This will help in establishing where our heroes are. At least in the Video games a bulk of it takes place in and around the Pontar river separating Temeria and Redaina.
